Igbos Are Cowards, Saboteurs, By Patrick Ikpainyang

Greenbarge Reporters

For the sake of Nation building, I expected our Igbos compatriots to remain remorseful, with broken spirits and contrite hearts. They should emulate the Japanese and Germans, who after the 2nd World war, that they caused, have adopted pacifist Constitutions and behaviors. They have realized the folly and worthlessness of war mongering.
The activities of IPOB and MASSOB are not in the interest of the Igbos. Rather, unfortunately, old historical wounds have been ruptured. They have inadvertently resuscitated their past inglorious roles in the national disintegration. I don’t blame them, because they were not born before the war, rather I blame their parents that lived through that period. And who should have cautioned them.
I was 9 years old, when Lt Col. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Governor of the then erstwhile Eastern Region of Nigeria seceded and declared the Republic of Biafra. In my youthful foolishness, I staked my life to a worthless cause and enrolled in OJUKWU VANGUARD. By the time I returned to my parents in our village which had been liberated by the Nigerian army, I lost 2 academic years, with war scars physically psychologically and mentally inflicted on me.
To start with, the agitation for Biafra is gross insults to the minorities of the then Eastern Region and worse still on the memories of those gallant men and women that paid the Supreme prices. Though Biafra was created by the Igbos, the minorities mostly from the present day Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, sustained it militarily, administratively and diplomatically.
With this, the roles of the following heros come to mind. Late General Philip Effiong,Ojukwu’s 2nd in command, sustained Biafra militarily. Late Chief Ntieyong Udo Akpan, was the Secretary of the Government of Biafra. He was the defacto Administrator of Biafra. Late Chief Okokon Ndem Okon, was the Director General of Radio Biafra, and their Chief Propagandist. Late Dr Matthew T Mbu, was their foreign Minister and their foremost diplomat. Late Major Archibong was their most brilliant war tactician that liberated Ikot Ekpene six times from the Nigerian army.
With the exception of General Ojukwu, other Igbos used that war to make money. Left for the Igbos, the war would have ended in 1967, it wouldn’t have lasted for 30 months. For instance Col Yakubu Danjuma , of the 1st Division and his Boys literally strolled into Enugu and occupied it. Ditto for most of the Igboland. But late Col Benjamin Adekunle of the 3rd Marine Commando, was frustrated in the present day Akwa Ibom state.
Wherever the battle was tough, most often a non Igbo was the Biafran Commander. The Igbos exhibited so much cowardice. They were saboteurs. It was such that General Ojukwu lost confidence in them, relied and confided only on the minorities, particularly the present day Akwa Ibomites. I am very happy that he appreciated their roles, as were conveyed in his orations at the funerals of late General Philip Effiong, Late Chief Ntieyong Udo Akpan, and late Chief Okokon Ndem Okon, my neighbor.
Again on the night of 15January 1966, 4 Igbos and I Yoruba Majors and their subalterns embarked on a killing spree. By the time it was over, they have assassinated the Prime minister, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the almighty Premier of Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Premier of Western Region, Chief Samuel Akintola, Chief Festus Okotie – Eboh. The two Igbo Premiers of Midwest region, Osadebe, and that of the Eastern Region, Chief Michael Okpara, were not touched.
The military casualties of that “coup”, were Brigadier Maimalari, Commander of the 1st Brigade and the most senior Northern military Officer, Brigadier Ademulegun, Commander of the 2nd Brigade, and the most senior Yoruba military Officer, Colonels Shodeinde, Pam and Arthur Unegbe(the only Igbo casualty). Suspiciously Major General Johnson Thomas Umunakwe Aguiyi-Ironsi, the most senior Igbo military Officer was spared.
Suspiciously an Igbo man, Senator Nwafor Orizu, the Senate President, (with President Nnamdi Azikiwe on vacation to Britain) handed over power to his Igbo brother, Major General Johnson Thomas Umunakwe Aguiyi-Ironsi. The Igbos were all over bragging about the superiority of their tribe. They waxed a record titled “EWU NEBE AKWA ” meaning the goat is weeping.. That was a mockery of the Northerners over the assassination of their Leaders . And went about provocatively, openly hawking the tearful portraits of the late Prime minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.
The Northerners violently rioted against the Easterners, derogatorily called “Nyameri”. That was the remote cause of the declaration of Biafra and the bloody civil war.
If the present Igbo generation knew the past inglorious roles their fathers played in the disintegration of this Nation, they should be hiding their heads in shame.
A good reminiscent view of the history

The security operatives will not be deployed to fish out the Fulani's criminals now, but once the locals retaliated against the jihadists, the military will find their way there in less than 24 hours.

Is this not the same ogun state where the military escorted Fulani's into the community they have been rejected?

North is using govt resources to prosecute an ethnic war against a section of the country. ESN is not fighting against Nigeria rather doing the job of the govt to protect it's people against killer herdsmen.

I don't think this right and Nigerians should speak against it. This isn't fair.
Exactly, military is the main reason why those killer herdmen feel emboldened, they know military will come to Fulani's rescue any time there is a revolt against them. Imagine using the money realized from crude oil (which is not found in the north) to buy military hardware to execute ethnic war with the south. I also notice that any time there is a public discontentment with Fulani's activities, that is when the military will show their macho man against Boko Haram and telling us how many of the terrorists they have killed. And the useless government-funded Shekau will come out to rant about how many of his men have been killed by the Nigerian military.

Most times they do know the criminals among their kinsmen.
In the scenario at Igangan, when Igboho went their to complain to their Seriki, the seriki admitted he knows the murderers but that he has "scolded" them. Right in that gathering, some of these terrorists attempted to kill Igboho and ultimately his companions. You think they would have that effrontery to attempt that if they are not coldblooded killers, and they also know they will get the necessary coverup from the Seriki if they have been successful.
That's awful embarassed, thank goodness that particular seriki has been expelled. I get a story of one prominent Yoruba man they killed like that after the cattles raided his farm and he went to their seriki to complain, that seriki is evil, though all of the seriki's might not be like that. I know the Fulani's are bigoted, they like to have each other's backs no matter who is at fault. I only pity those who are not even cattle-herding Fulani's who will get caught in this crossfire.

I reiterate that Yoruba's should not condone violence with violence, there are some innocent among these Fulani's who go about their business peacefully, we should not allow this fight against Fulani's bandits to be hijacked by some criminal elements who will use this opportunity to loot the properties of innocent people in the name of fighting herdsmen. I'm a Yoruba's guy, I sympathize with innocent Fulani's who get caught in the crossfire. I know what it means when you are labeled a criminal before being given a chance to prove your Innocence. People travel out of this country, imagine you are called a criminal because of the color of your skin. Let's not fight injustice with injustice, you don't throw the baby away with the water. There are some innocent Fulani's who need as much protection as you do.

There is one such suspended lake in Ondo State which looks shallow outside but deeply deep

Hausa's should understand that an attack on Fulani's herdsmen is not an attack on them, if they are bottling up anger for Yoruba's because of that they are fighting the wrong fight. Yoruba's have reiterated many times that Hausa's is not their target.

PoliticsRe: How The Hausa/Yoruba Clash In Shasha Market, Ibadan Started - Eyewitness (Video) by pacespot(m):
Obviously this lady is a Fulani's, here is a true account from the right source of what actually transpired between Hausa's and Yoruba's which led to the deadly clash at shasha market. This person said he made use of the service of the cobbler that was killed while he was a kid, so he definitely knew the deseased. He also said some of Hausa's that were involved in this riot used to make use of his mother's shop as an accommodation during the night.

So here is his account: according to him, the cobbler intervened when the Hausa's man, who also called his colleagues in, was harrasing a pregnant Yoruba woman right in front of her shop, which unfortunately led to the cobbler's death. After the cobbler was pronounced dead in the hospital, some group of Yoruba's youth approached the scene in seeking for justice for the deseased but to no avail as the Hausa's men used their strategic advantage in the market to chase others away and destroying their properties in the process. In the course of this, they chased people into their private homes and caused more destructions. While doing this, some Yoruba's youth laid ambush for the Hausa's and started killing them. This story sounds like the case of oppressors who later turned out to become the victims. The Hausa's people were having upper hand in the fight until some Yoruba youth invaded the scene. so those traders went ahead killings yoruba people just like that abi?
because of individual fight you went ahead killing an entire tribe..
are you saying no ibo or yoruba man has fought hausas in the north before? did the north go ahead killing the entire yoruba??
see am only talking cos I too would pity innocent Southerners when the north start retaliation.
you might be safe where you are but pity people who might suffer the consequences of your foolish actions.
if the said guilty hausa man was protected my those business men it would have been a different situation but no it was a different ball game and your touts people took advantage and loot hausa shops.
Did you see where the Hausa's went around and burning and destroying Yoruba's properties, the videos are plenty on Twitter, you can watch multiple footages to your satisfaction. Most of the killings of Hausa's happened as a self defence by Yoruba's. Didn't you see in one video where they were saying people should get ready that the Hausa's were coming? Hausa's took the fight to their host and their host retaliated, it's when they were getting beaten that they started shouting #OyoMassacre. There was a time that the soldiers were present there defending the Fulani's. What I can deduce from all this crisis is that Fulani's know how to manipulate Hausa's into getting into a fight with other tribes. Hausa's have had a bottled up anger for Yoruba's because of recent call for Fulani's herdsmen to leave the South West forest.

In as much as I want this Fulani's banditry menace over with in the south west, we should be careful about profiling the entire tribe as criminals, some of these Fulani's are victims of their brothers who are bandits, let's help to accommodate peaceful Fulani's while chasing the criminals away. And the innocent Fulani's should understand that the accommodative nature of Yoruba's is not as a result of cowardice, they should stop showing sympathy to terrorists when they are being chased away. The attack on the marauding Fulani's is not the attack on the north, people want to feel safe on their land and the Yoruba's know how to protect their lands. So stop calling every attack on the criminal bandits as the attack on the north, many northerners are good business people, they bring cheap foods to the south, but if we allow the bandits to overrun the south like they are doing in the north west and east, no where will be safe in the country again.

Having communities within community is not good. Concentrating people from the same region or tribe in an area within host community is bad.

That is the reason for all these crises.
They know their plan, their plan is to conquer their host, that s why they often segregate themselves. If you know the minds of Muslims towards non-muslims, you will not be surprised by the violent clash by northerners with their host everywhere they go
