marvin905: and I ask what if he isn't financially capable.. Church wedding should not be a show of affluence. They can do that even on a Sunday during the church service. It's just for the pastor to bless them as they tie the knot. Since the guy has spent so much during the traditional activities, there should be no point in spending more if he's not buoyant enough. White wedding shouldn't be a do or die affair. |

Tallhero: The government knows with the current minimum wage, this your idea will not work, abi you don't want them to recover the money back.
Imagine paying 5k every month for each apartment, the person will die and the children will continue paying. We can take the houses on owner occupier basis. If the type of the house costs like 6 million naira; one can be paying 300k P/A as rent. The tenant can pay up in less than 25 years. As you are paying the rent, the house will be yours for keeps. |

Dr. Ngozi Oweala is a living witness for the successes the OBJ regime has had. World bank, IMF, Paris club and other debts were cancelled during such travels. But as it is today, the reverse is the case. We are neck deep in debts, this government is plunging the country into more debts. They take loans to pay salaries. All businesses are suffering. The masses are prone to pay more taxes than reaping the benefits of democracy. God have mercy. |

I would sincerely advice you wait till after the wedding. Payment of bride price is an indication that the woman you intend to marry is now readily yours. Please be patient, I don't believe she's hiding anything from you, whether she's a virgin or not; that's not the point. Bear with her and don't nurse any ill feelings. The sex you are craving for, you'll always have it over and over after the wedding. Good luck as you patiently wait. |

Ostrogoth: Very true. You on the other hand will need garri for food tonight (cos of Buhari's poverty economics), you'll need a chinko android phone and you'll also need to tuck in with used clothes (cos SARS are on the prowl since Buhari cannot curb them), you'll also need to worry about how to charge your phone (cos despite bubu's promises, electricity is even more inefficient than before) while Buhari and his Fulani cronies enjoy all the best that this world can offer at the expense of your financial freedom, personal liberty and fundamental human rights. You are right tho, let's all just enjoy this next level! I think this next level is the only promise APC was able to fulfill. |

isthatso: No, China locked it's border for years which forced the Chinese to look inward and develop its own industries. The problem with Nigeria is we dont like short term pain for long term reward.
Any nation with a huge population that wants to truly grow must first develop and give advantage to it's own industries before allowing foreign competition.
When a country like Vietnam is lobbying to open our borders, it tells you how much of their economy and jobs is tied in producing rice for Nigeria. We no get farmers, we no get land? You're right. But Nigeria is only adding salt to injury as it is. The border closure should have come with some palliative measures to cushion the impact of such action. The prices of our local rice etc have skyrocketed. The common man is not finding it funny at all. |
