It's not a virgin passport. She has a valid US Visa and was in the U.S. a couple of months ago. She was denied the first time she applied some years back and this is her second attempt.

For someone applying for visit visa with an invitation letter from a family friend. What's the option of visa category to choose and duration ? Tourism,visit Family / friend OR Other visit visa?

How far? When did he apply and his documents submitted? Has he got any mail yet? My application was december. A friend presently doing same course says they'l send a mail to notify applicant.
I trust God for +ve decision. Don't wanna go back to OAU for Phd. Please do let me know what's up.

Please Naija people....I submitted applications to MUN and UoRegina...Msc Comp Science...(co-op) route....I scored 8 band overall in ielts..I'll be graduating with a good result..current gpa 92 on a scale of 100. will I get any form of funding...is it only the thesis route that gets funding....I tried to contact supervisors in all schools I could find but no answer...
Another thing..how long does it take for the above named universities to make admission decisions...I applied since September 2014....and not much has changed on the online status.....I'm somewhat worried...

Congrats @ your ietls, though MUN doesn't require that, a letter of proficiency in English will do. But you could use your result for other PR programs like the EE if you eligible

As per funding, both thesis and course based are eligible just that thesis based are more considered.

Decision on admission for MUN masters are not made until a month or 6weeks after the programs deadline though some program differs so you need mail your program coordinator to find out ‎

You said you would be graduating with good grades! Great! Btw what first degree did you use to apply for PG @ MUN and Uregina! ‎
Don't know much about Uregina anyways!

Include your leave letter from your office, office can also give you a covering letter for the tax certificate, i worked in a bank too and that was what my office gave me with the letter of introduction to the canadian embassy.
also, let your host send you an invitation letter/mail, and if you can show evidence of the relationship, the better e.g biodata page showing same surname of mum or dad,etc.Since she will be accommodating you, statement of account of your host will be key too, showing that she can host you.

@ akanni, nice one. A quick one please. What if you don't wanna let them know @ work place you planned leaving for school, is the study leave really compulsory for one's application? Sure other docs can fit in? For visiting I know leave letter is Kul.

Update on my application which I entered on the 15th
January. About 5 weeks I got info that passport has been dispatched. Quite disappointed. Cos I could not imagine reason for a denial. Av not seen the response anyway am expecting it to be sent next week.
I had an unused 2years visiting visa to canada. I decided to change status because it's not wise just going to canada without utilising their education system. I have a job here, my salary acct was well funded. What else could I have done.
Property document included. Total worth 37m.
I work with a financial institution and I am aware they didn't call for any verification. Of I wanted to run away would have done so with my visiting visa since last year.
They gave me 2 yrs visiting with my kids last november and I did medical as well
So why on earth the refusal. If indeed it is cos am awaiting the passport.
Going forward. I intend to travel with the visiting next week with my kids. But don't know how I can apply from Los Angeles office since that's an option and I will be going to us as well.
I don't wanna apply from nigeria again.anyone with good help. Please reply and help a sister...

Whateva the decision is! Don't give up! I read your post yday and was kinda worried why you didn't utilize the visiting visa @ all. I work in a financial institution too. Had a busy day yday was so tired I couldn't commend on your post. Intend applying for visiting with my family but the tot of having a valid visiting visa and then applying for a student visa later in the year doesn't look too good to me so I decided to hold on.
We really don't know how this Guys think. But I would advise you use the visiting visa @ least for a trip with your family then come back and apply again for student visa.
My thought! It'l end in praise.

Almost cried this morning when @cruzAj said he didn't fill country of birth on d family info form as I discovered I didn't fill mine too. Just entered prayer since den and 15mins ago, I got a mail from cic for original passport request.

It's okay as the program combines many fields. Its an interdisciplinary course so anyone from sciences, arts, s/sciences and other related fields are good fit. Just that like I learnt they give preference to having a masters degree earlier or being experienced. But really its very competitive considering the funding involved, one's research interest and the number of prospective candidates. Let's hope for the best. My saying, if it's God's will, it will not pass me/us by!

I applied for Electrical and Computer Engineering (Communications - MSc) but I was unable to get a supervisor tho they said my file would still move round lecturers and I myt eventually secure one. I am expecting admission decision in April and praying UofR admits me too cos the wait is killing.

It'll sure end in praise. I picked Course route for calgary. Sure you filled and submitted the GAC(graduate awards) form as directed for your program. March/April is just around the corner. Work keeps me so busy anyways so time really flies. All d best for us all

Yea I did, I mailed a Dr who agreed to supervise me. How's ur friend doing? Hope he got someone willing to supervise him/her? What's his bsc/msc background?am waiting for decisions so could have options to pick from anyways btw. U of C and MUN. Congrats once again

before deadlines for both courses. Deadline was jan 15 or so. Sure you'l hear from them soonest. Like I applied to Calgary but was told they don't make decisions till a month after the program's deadline. So program's and schools timelines differ . All the best

Hello, takes about 4 to 6weeks depending on the program. I applied for PHD Eco and a friend did for Msc Agric biz. We got decisions in 4 and5 weeks respectively after submission of complete application package.
Just that I really do not know the basis of their decisions as per international students considering the fact that funding is involved. You can as well send a mail to your grad cordinator if it's taking longer than usual. For undergraduate studies,I do not have an idea. Hope this helps. All the best.
