I can see why scams like MMM and miracle churches thrive in Nigeria. Its like your brains dont function and you cant reason.

COMPAQ:

The point he's trying to make is that tolls are on highways where there is no obstruction to your driving pretty far distance to get you to your destination quickly. Common from VI to Chevron, you stop at 8 traffic lights and junctions that are poorly designed and don't flow traffic properly.

And like others have said, you can what you have in central London are congestion charges. You don't queue up at any toll both anywhere.

Here lies the problem. Without a comprehensive database of car registrations, no mechanism to sanction defaulters and the high cost of deploying an ANPR system,Lagos cant use the central London, ULEZ or QEII Bridge system of ANPR toll charging

That is for congestion when travelling through central London after 6am!

It is mechanism to reduce traffic congestion so that car owners can use tfl services.

In Lagos, is it the same?

Anyone who wants to drive into central London between 0700 and 1800 must pay £15 per day. There is no alternative road.

Lekki Toll is Slavery. The economic cost benefit analysis given the productivity loss from traffic stalling is NEGATIVE. People on medical emergencies have had their lives expire in that traffic. There is no where in the world you toll right in the middle of a commercial metropolis like Lekki- Admiralty way.

PS
You don't have roundabouts, pedestrian crossings and traffic lights on American tolled highways or any tolled highway anywhere in the world. What you have going on in Lekki is crazy.

Ignorance. Central London is tolled. £15 per day.

Brother Papillo, I am not surprised; I expected people like you when I opened the thread
but then again, I don't have to prove anything to you or anyone else really

If you think it is a lie, It is fine

While you are still doubting, I just got an interview offer for a US remote job of about 120K USD with other perks (attached)
Why do I feel the next thing from you will be send me the name of the firm; etc

In your world; things like this may not be possible and I completely understand

Just to also mention; as much as I might needed insights especially from people already in UK on this matter (which I have already gotten); a part of this post was also to ignite people's interest in Tech and see the limitless possibilities in the tech space
A lot of people here don't have this information and they need to...

A post like this can actually set someone on the right path; all everyone needs is just the right information and motivation
So I rest my case; and this is the last time I will reply you

Happy doubting sire!

Young bro. I wish you all the best. You are a fellow Nigerian and it looks like you are booksmart so I hope you can make the most of your intelligence. You are into Cybersecurity and IT auditing, good choice. Good luck in your initial telpehone interview and please share your tips with others on Nairaland. Someone must have told you about CISA so pass on the knowledge. the sky is big enough for every bird to fly.

All the best my yute! Peace, I'm out.

There is no point

He's someone that thinks he knows yet grossly misinformed ...the fact that he thinks 4K monthly income amounts to 80/90 pounds gross is a testament to why I will not even take him serious

And I'm not at liberty to prove anything to anyone in a faceless forum
A simple declaration of my specialty can blow my cover here hence the term "tech bro"

If he or anyone else thinks this is a lie...it's okay
Abi

Tech bro you are still lying! grin. Dont worry I also dream about winning the lottery. Only thing is I dont start a thread on Nairaland claiming I have won the lottery.

Blow your cover? So the whole world will know who you are if you simply tell us you are a Salesforce architect, React developer e.t.c? You should have been more discreet when you posted on Nairaland about your MI5 cybersecurity job.

Attached is the calculation of the net pay of a employee earning £80,000/annum working for the NHS.

Tech bro needs help from Nairalanders to decide between N60 million (£80,000) in the UK vs N24 million (£30,000) in Nigeria

Oga relax. That you’re making 20k per annum doesn’t mean the young man can’t be offered 90k. Secondly, he didn’t tell you that the offer came as net. He must have done his likely calculation based on the gross provided and came to the conclusion that he would take home 4k monthly. There are sites that help with the correct calculations. Third, 90k per annum is actually modest for a person in the tech space especially if he already had the experience that earns him 1.5m per month in Nigeria. Have you even heard how much American law firms based in the UK pay their lawyers? It’s this “I know it all attitude” that Nigerians who have been struggling in the UK have that pisses me off. They believe anyone having better opportunities than them cannot be legit. What if I told you that I’ve got friends working in US headquartered law firm in London and earning 165k per annum? Of course you will swear with your life thag it’s impossible. That’s why sometimes it’s good to just keep quiet and observe. Make you no go embarrass yourself because you really don’t know it all.

Make I dey manage my £20k per annum go.

I have been enjoying all the fake figures all day. People earn all sorts, that is not the point of the matter. I have friends doing multiple roles cleaning out £1500/day. Take it from me no organisation in the UK will offer someone who calls himself a 'tech bro' based in Nigeria, who has no UK experience, £80,000/year unless he has some very specialist skills that cant be found in the UK.

All day People have asked him what area of tech he works in but over 18 pages he has refused to answer this question. All he has done is reel out the names of some generic tech and digital roles. Lets assume I am wrong and this guy happens to be a whizz in his field, I'd expect him to be smart enbough to decide on which offer to take and not come to ask ridiculous questions on Nairaland

Lol, I know a software engineer who got similar offer… 95k even UI UX is getting between 40-80k depending on ur experience. Don’t underrate tech jobs.

This is not the argument. Dont tell me what people earn in an area I work in. I see it every day. There are people that earn between £500 and £1000 day in some contract roles. Go on Jobserve and you'll see dozens of IT jobs offering contracts and permanent positions of over £100,000/year

My argument is how a chap in Nigeria who doesnt have UK industry experience gets offered an £80/000/year or £400/day job when there are thousands of job seekers who have the experience and skills in the UK. I am not saying it is impossible but you'd have to be special and if you were that special surely you wouldnt need to come on Nairaland to ask if you should accept a £6,700/month job in the UK or remain in a £1,900/month job in Nigeria.

I dont even mind the original question as its good to dream and it is also possible that the chap is talented with a skill in high demand and really got such an offer. I am flaggerbasted at the replies by people saying £4000 net is not enough to live in London grin. Most of these people are in Nigeria o and dont even see N500,000/month. I think they may be equating £4000 to N4000. £80,000 is N60,000,000/year

I agree with your first paragraph but the second paragraph isn’t true. I’m a U.K. resident and I know of two persons resident in Nigeria, one a friend and another an acquaintance, who are into online tech jobs and earning over £5k a month each. They do freelance tech jobs with multinational companies in the U.K., US and Australia. So his offer is a possibility but the after tax part was either fabricated or sugar-coated.

It is very possible to earn £60,000 per year doing tech jobs. There are people that earn £1,000/day.

The question is out of the multitude of job seekers in the UK and US, why would employers employ someone based in Nigeria to do a tech job based in the UK/US? There are work visa issues to sort out, how does the person pay tax? Which bank account do they receive the salary in e.t.c. Maybe they are consultants working independently and not employees. Or they could be be employed locally to work in Nigerian subsidiaries but payed in foreign currency. Or they have some very specialist skills. What kind of tech roles are they in?

At the end of the day na still demsay unless you have seen the money go into their account with your own eyes.

There is no "easiest"
And I think you just started on a wrong foot...

Every path up there just like every other good thing in life requires hard work and serious dedication ...

Look through...pick one and be ready to do the work

I think you are just making it worse. What kind of techie advises an individual whose background they dont know to 'look through...pick one' cheesy. Is it gambling, miniminimanimo or kalokalo?

You should be telling the person to consider what their background is. Are they technically minded? Any exposure to programming? Their people skills, knowledge of SDLC e.t.c. It is only after that that a person can make a holistic decision about what area in 'tech' they'd like to go into.

Na you wey dey Lagos, wey dem dey suspicious of na him dem go offer job of £400/day just like that?

I am not saying it is not possible but you'd have to be in a very niche area and have skills that are very hard to come by. Your after tax yarn just gave it all away... You think say you be footballer?

I'd say stay in Nigeria and double your remote hustle untill you get a better paying gig.

With 1.5m in Nigeria you can live like a king.

$4000 monthly in the UK is base salary

Look at this broke fool in Okokomaiko saying £4000/month is base salary. £48,000 a year in a country where the average salary is £25,000. Have you seen an airport before? Does anyone if your family members in Europe earn even half that amount?

A Nigerian citizen needs a Nigerian passport to exit Nigeria.

As this is Nigeria anything goes. Have cash available for vigorous hand lubrication.

Nope... If you have the appropriate visa for Nigeria in your second country passport or the 2nd country passport was issued in Nigeria there is no requirement for you to have a Nigerian passport.
