Ibrahim505: . I have to abandoned my 2019 zenith dividend as veritas insist i that, my broker did not submitted the signed transfer form to them so, I should send mandate form to them through my bank. Morgan capital even shared with me the copy of the signed transfer form they sent to them. I can imagine. I don’t even want to write all my life history with registrars. Some old 2007 shares are stuck in limbo because the broker was a 1 man business and the business have closed. SEC has details of this transaction, because it’s part of the non-mandated shares on SEC website. Called and emailed the registrar, explained the situation and have asked for the way out, not gotten a single response. These are all relatively small money, but for me it’s the principle of these things. Because this is how people’s assets suddenly disappear and their inheritors end up not having access to the shares or the dividends. Yet SEC is wondering why young Nigerians are investing in foreign stocks and ignoring the NSE. |

This people know what they are doing. Imagine a small stock holder with N5,000 worth of accumulated dividend, why will they have to travel from out of their state come all the way to the registrars Lagos office and start all this drama. SEC told them to stop asking for Bankers confirmation before they approve e-dividend, yet many still ask. Most of them don’t even reply to email submission of e-dividend. Best thing for me going forward is to only buy shares in companies that are using reasonable registrars. ololufemi: Well said my brother but you know how things are in this Country. The only thing a lot of the people who act like Dinosaurs know is the word "Aggressive Change". I think we should set up a Cooperative that will assist people by getting necessary Court Orders to force the Registrars and the Stockbrokers to do their jobs and make the Capital Market transactions easier for people.
I have been chasing a plethora of outstanding dividends for some time and a particular Registrar told me they would only accept a signed Share Transfer Form instead of a Banker's s Confirmation of Signature Letter ("BoCL" . I requested to see their Head of Operations and asked for an explanation on why a BoCL was not acceptable. I had to explain to her that a BoCLwas moresecure.and noteworthy than the signed STF they were requesting because it requires physical presence, pictures, signatures which are verified at the bank as well as a Bank account with details similar to what the Registrars have in their records.
The Registrars agreed to accept the BoCL after my dogged explanation but they called several weeks later to tell me the signature was irregular. The signature wey I sign on the BoCL is the one I dey use withdraw money from the account o! I went to the Bank to resolve it and the Bank showed me that they confirmed the document to them.
We still dey on the matter o! It was when I threatened them to take them to an Arbitration panel or Court that they started behaving like they were concerned about resolving it. I know say na format. |

Coolcash1: NSE is just a graveyard! A reflection of the bad state of Nigerian economy and slopiness of SEC. No new listing, deficient FPI, poor corporate governance, extreme manipulation, low retail participation, weak liquidity, lack of innovation, amongst others. #sigh SEC is part of the problem especially in respect of low retail participation. The stress one goes through to collect dividends is very disheartening and designed to frustrate small stock holders. Meanwhile, if you buy American stocks, it’s only your broker that you know and your broker also sends you dividends. You have no business with registrars and their useless requirements. |

biafranrealson: What if your sister died 2 months in UK ? If he said the man should sponsor his own kids, I can understand. But to sponsor someone on the internet’s sister is the worst thing on this thread. My own advise to the OP, is there is no business without training, anything you choose look for a way to learn it first before committing capital. Even food business, two people can cook in the same location and both will have customers but only one will have profit at the end of the year. |

meine: Just to educate you a bit there is nothing special about having a SCUML certificate , every company taking huge deposits will be advised by their banks to get one. Some boys can get it done for ordinary 40k. If you were talking about SEC registration and publishing of financial reports I will take you serious.
Money laundering and running a Ponzi scheme are also two different things,SCUML won't track Ponzi schemes its left to investors to do due diligence. Only your company is running hospital, mortgage bank, site and service schemes, farms very soon you may even launch airline all within 5 years. The endgame i see here is that your company will force investors to take plots of land they can't sell when your cash inflow dries up. Its a Smart one though.
Wishing your company and its investors the best of luck,Though We've gone down this road before. All he needs is SEC registration documents. It’s a pity that even the seller of investment doesn’t know anything about SCUML. Buyers beware o. Post dated cheque bounced is plenty EFCC dealings and to open file. To get the money back through the courts is not easy especially if you are dealing with an experienced fraudster. |

DeRuggedProf: This is KEY once you are done with a registrar in your life. There was a day I bought almost ALL the stocks, including those that had millions of units on offer. I sat down and was just buying, after printing ALL the e-div forms and filling them. My photographer was also happy that day. When I reached the bank with the forms, the guy at the desk who is a friend, was perplexed! I told him to do his job, that is why GTB is my bank, for efficiency... I sacrificed a whole day for this. I even repeated the forms of those registrars that the companies did not declare dividend last time... My portfolio is looking very messy, with several 5units, 10 units, 50 units, 100 units etc etc. At times I see dividends of N13.28, N29.02 etc and laugh... I have promised myself, never to sell a stock down to zero units even if the CEO pursue my GIRLFRIEND.... I’ve since filled the dividends forms and submitted to Access bank. Exactly 6 months ago and still no response. From what you are saying now, it seems the bank route is not going to work. How much money am I expecting that I will start going to their offices one by one? It is well with us in this country. |

FBN is the Guarantor, so they know it’s their gbese. Honestly how the money is spent is not my business, the money only got this big cus they allowed it to linger for so long. |

Besides provision for contingent liability is an off-balance sheet item which does not impact the income statement until it crystallizes... Now that the apex court has given its verdict on it then first bank will be COMPELLED to pay the claimants.... Only Contingent Nah, it should be a PROVISION. I see FBN’s result being seriously delayed this year. |
