Symphony007: Saying the church should not focus too much on abortion and gays so as to appeal to a wider audience is really troubling to the vatican establishment. The vatican establishment belive that what makes the catholic church exceptional is it's consistency to norms for thousands of years. The anglican church taugh it could appeal to an increasingly liberal world and it ended up spilting itself in bits. I do hope all the far reaching view pope francis is eluding to, he does'nt attempt to implement cause the consequences will be shocking and unconventional.

The Pope in no way supports abortion or homosexuality. He instead doesn't want to be drawn into those specific areas of morality and focus on the whole of Christendom for what it really is. Quoting from the article

One reason that has motivated me in replying is that in recent times, the social problems of homosexuality, pedophiles, abortion and premarital sex seem to be all that is seen or talked about in religious circles, which i think is a case of "asking a deeply wounded man if he has high blood sugar". The message of the gospel should be advocated more to the tenet of Christianity which I believe centers on LOVE. When love is the main focus of our lives, whether or not it is right to remove a fetus from the womb will be choice that won't be asked of us.

So sad Nland doesn't have the bowing down emoticon. You just won my heart with this comment. Till today I still wonder why people wait for alert, because from observation all the alert droppers here disappear after about a month. Instead of us to encourage the alert bringer to drop their system and mentor us, some of us will instead want the alert bringer to be sending them alerts as text message. The truth is that even from ur hypothesis that someone can take alert and have consistent returns for 10yrs is nothing short of a miracle. Nice one!

JNdupu: One thing that confuses most of us is the skilful juggling of the Old Testament vs New Testament dichotomy by some christians who seem to want to have it all.

Bear with me please - the Old Testament is full of the most heinous evil acts and commends severe wickedness (by today's standards) to be committed on others - child murder etc.
