Is this the latest form of political campaign?? Doyin Okupe, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs dedicated his time yesterday (Monday) to take swipes at the opposition party All Progressives Congress APC. The SA to President Jonathan gave his own fair share of political backlash to APC presidential aspirants General Mohammed Buhari (GMB) and Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Tambuwal through his social media. The explosion that rocked Government Science Secondary School, Potiskum, Yobe State last Monday is still causing ripples across the country as the Nigerian Police confirmed 47 students dead. The principal of the school, Mr. Buba Sanda Mustapha, who relived the suicide attack, said the bomber struck as the pupils prepared for the morning assembly. He said: “The incident took place at exactly 7.48 am when the pupils were waiting on the assembly ground. All of them were in front of this place, waiting for us to come to assembly. All of a sudden, we heard a heavy sound and our students started shouting and running in all directions. “Immediately I saw this, I tried to inform the police and the JTF. I called for my car and we used it to convey the children to the hospital. Other people came in with their tricycle, packing both the dead and the wounded to the hospital. “We thank God that the hospital is very close to the school; if not, it would have been very difficult. We spent the whole day in the hospital, trying to know the condition of the boys. “The first casualties that we took to the hospital were given first aid. Those that sustained multiple fractures were referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Azare in Bauchi State and the Federal Medical Centre in Nguru. “The casualties as at yesterday were 81 students. 41 of them taken to the two medical centres; others were left here. Only one of those admitted here is left now. “According to our statistics, as at yesterday, we had only 35 dead. Today we got a report that one of our pupils at Azare could not make it; so we have 36 dead now. “No teacher was affected because all the teachers were in front of my office waiting for us to proceed to the assembly when it happened”, Mustapha said. Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Education, Professor Viola Onwuliri, in her reaction, condemned the attack, describing it as callous, inhuman and satanic. A polytechnic graduate (names withheld) has committed suicide by jumping into a lake located at Aba Apata, Adegbayi, Oyo State over his inability to get a job after graduation. Eyewitnesses said that the corpse of the deceased was still floating on the water but was identified from his certificates which he dropped at the bank of the river before taking his own life. A fisherman in the area, Taofeek Dauda, narrated that: “His parents were here, and I told them to pay N30,000 so I can bring out the corpse with my canoe. I also told them that the money covers the materials we are going to use to perform some rituals before he could be buried, because it is very important to do such for whoever dies in this kind of circumstance.” This highlights the sorry state of Nigeria presently, as security, unemployment and corruption continues to ravage the country. Chelsea FC players were training at the Cobham ground this Morning (Tuesday) ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League opener against Schalke. The players were put through their pace by the fitness coach, Luis Faria, with each player squaring up with fellow players in the same position. When it reached the turn of John Mikel, Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic, the picture below is the result. Am sure he's laughing over there. LOL!

Insightful. But the environment in Nigeria makes some of the points impossible. It's all about putting food on the table. |
callydon: Bros, plz these estimates is based on which year?Batch A 2013.. Finished Feb this year. |
callydon: Hmmmmmm... just watching from d corner.I went there during my time from Enugu. But the easiest way is through Onitsha via Head bridge. Lots of Ilorin Buses load there. Onitsha to Ilorin is estimated to be 7 to 8hrs drive, thou some drivers can be faster. When you reach Ilorin, to get to Yikpata is easier as some corps members on ground are always there to help. Just incase, once bus stop you at Unity roundabout (the normal bustop), take a cab N50 to maraba garage. That is where Yikpata buses loads. They can charge upto N600 or more depending on how una JJC reach. BTW, if all the passengers in your bus from east is going to camp, its best to negotiate with your driver to take you to camp straight at an extra cost. The buses from Ilorin to Yikpata are not always funny to travel with and its almost a 2hrs journey to a seemingly no-mans land. YIKPATA IS FUN SHAA especially for guys that will stay in "HALL". Lolz. Mami sweet die! but PPA?? Better experienced than told. |
KWARA COPAs! Served there batch A 2013. Wasn't funny at all. |

Information reaching CampusportalNG at the moment has it that the former governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has been appointed the new Minister for Education by President Goodluck Jonathan. Shekarau will be taking over from Barr. Nyesom Wike who has been temporary occupying the position left vacant by the former minister, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai after she was relieved of her duty last year. The two time governor of Kano state (2003 & 2007) had contested the position of presidency in 2011. We hope this appointment will bring a quick resolution to the over one year industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) as well as the College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) strike.
