Realist12:Did he propose a bill for it and was turned down by the state assembly? No. He's highlighting it so Nigerians can see Tinubu for who he really is. All the money Tinubu is being paid as pension is more than enough to build several world class hospitals such that he won't need to travel abroad for medical check up. |
The above clearly shows that the institutional bogus allowances for former governors started with Tinubu. Despite what he stole as a governor, he insisted on a pension for life. Imagine a state like Lagos with 3 or more ex governors, each collecting these bogus pensions despite the fact that civil servants who have served for 30 months or more are starved of their well deserved pensions. Voting in Tinubu will be the worst thing to happen to Nigeria in modern times

NEWSLagos: Breakdown of ex-governors’ pension as signed by TinubuPublished on November 10, 2020 By Wale Odunsi The revelation that Nigerian governors live the best lives in and out of office is no news; what is interesting is the disparity and differences in individual entitlements. Despite poverty, youth unemployment, neglect of babies and the aged, infrastructure deficit, underdevelopment of rural areas, high debt profile, and the likes, many states have continued to pamper and enrich ex-governors. To maintain the lifestyle, their ‘excellencies’ and deputies get posh houses, expensive vehicles, paid vacation, medical insurance, and protective services. According to the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), at least 22 states have passed laws allowing payment of life pensions to former governors and other ex-public officials. They are Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kogi, Kwara, Imo, Lagos, Niger, Osun, Oyo, Rivers, Yobe, and Zamfara. SERAP has been a strong advocate for an end to the huge remittances. In March, the federal government asked the body to send a list of former governors and ministers that have received and/or receiving pensions. Abukabar Malami, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice said the request was to ensure compliance with a court judgment on a suit by the rights group. The AGF’s letter with ref: MJ/LIT/ABJ/CMC/661/793 was signed by Anne C. Akwiwu (Mrs), Director of Civil Litigation and Public Law Department in the ministry. Lagos was reportedly the first state to implement the pension law. It was signed in 2007 by then Governor Bola Tinubu weeks before he completed his two-term tenure. Tinubu, a former Senator, is the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party under which Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and President Muhammadu Buhari were elected. On Tuesday, November 10, Sanwo-Olu announced that the pension law will be repealed. He made the disclosure during the 2021 budget estimate presentation to the House of Assembly. The Public Office Holder (Payment of Pension) Law No 11 Official Gazette of 2007 states that former governors are entitled to a house each in preferred locations in Lagos and Abuja, the nation’s capital. Section 2 reads: “One residential house each for the governor and the deputy governor at any location of their choice in Lagos State and one residential house in the Federal Capital Territory for the governor on two consecutive terms.” The law provides for six new cars every three years, 100 per cent of the basic salary of the incumbent governor (N7.7million per annum), and free health care for the beneficiary and family members. Former governors will be entitled to furniture allowance – 300 percent of annual basic salary (N23.3million); house maintenance allowance – 10 percent of annual basic salary (N778,296); utility allowance – 20 percent of annual basic salary (N1.5million), and car maintenance allowance – 30 percent of the annual basic salary (N2.3million). There is also an entertainment allowance, 10 percent of the annual basic salary (N778,296); and a personal assistant who will earn 25 percent of the governor’s annual basic salary (N1.9million). A former governor is also entitled to eight policemen and two Department of State Services (DSS) operatives for life. https://dailypost.ng/2020/11/10/lagos-breakdown-of-ex-governors-pension-as-signed-by-tinubu/ |
ImperialYoruba:You do have a point. But then you'll agree that what transpired in the PDP and APC primaries were repugnant to the point that delegates were openly bought by the highest bidders. The most vibrant politician from the south east in the person of Richas Okorocha was arrested days before the APC primary election. Peter Obi saw the handwriting quite early. Without being told, I knew he tendered his resignation from the PDP due to pressures from the party leadership advising him to deputize for Atiku. Today, Peter Obi is considered a major threat because the electorates perceive in him as different from the traditional politicians who believe that with their ill-gotten money they can get whatever they want. Let me stop here. Thank you. |
Yeye dey smell. That was how you gave us a picture of Bubu wearing suit. That was his first and last. Bubu has not put on suit again 8 years after. Abeg use this one.

phemmyjohnson:Why he dey vex? Win or lose, that show alone gave him over 20million pounds. |
ImperialYoruba:You have a hand in this. Since 1999 when we returned to civilian rule, the south west has ruled for 8 years, south south about 6 years. South East, 0. The only chance of power getting to the south east is being hijacked by emi lokan whose health status and inability to articulate coherently could make him not complete the 4 years tenure if he manages to rig himself to power. Yet YOU would still give him support because he's your tribe's man. Already, the country is as worse as it could get. And Tinubu nor Atiku doesn't have the antidote for moving it forward. I am not an Igbo man. But just like Obi my desire is to see Nigeria working again. Thank you. |
BATified2023:Revolutions do not begin overnight. People do not just oppose the government just for fun of it. Even the various terrorists groups in the north who have caused more havoc to the nation in recent times do not seem to bother you. They still have both intrinsic and extrinsic reason for their barbaric actions. Peter Obi has not been identified as a member of Ipob. Being an Igbo man does not automatically makes one an ipobian. If Ipob is your major worry, be rest assured that Obi as president would calm the nerves of the agitators because one of their major preoccupation is to be accorded a sense of belonging in this project called Nigeria. Their calling for secession is borne out of the assumption that they are not getting that acceptance. So, vote for Obi. He will talk to them and they will listen to him and the region will experience peace and tranquility once again. Even the terrorists in the north will listen to him as he is more sincere than the other clownish candidates. Thank you. |

BATified2023:Peter Obi is not an Igbo candidate. He is the symbol chosen by the oppressed Nigerians to pull us out of the political mud in which the traditional politicians have plunged us. Stop flashing the ethnicity card. It is the same tactics that has left us where we are currently It is the emi lokan of the common Nigerian. |
But they are losing their first three games this season ![]() |

Bola Tinubu has been revealed as a very openly corrupt leader. He was the first governor to design a very robust pension and salary for life package which even exceed that of the incumbent. This is open corruption. His perchant to enrich himself at the detriment of the masses is legendary. This is in addition to the Alpha Beta accounting consult through which he illegally siphons 10% of all revenues accruing to Lagos state. With such wealth he can afford to bring bullion vans into his compound on the eve of 2019 general elections. He openly shared over 20000 dollars to each delegate to buy the presidential ticket of the APC. If money is going to be a factor in 2023 election, Tinubu has stolen more than enough to buy each vote at 10000 naira. He's nothing but a political business man. Today he's riding under the umbrella of ethnicity and religious affiliations. So it's time to speak to our consciousness if Tinubu is actually the saviour to rescue Nigeria from the current woe he put us in. We must collectively say no to this man planning to hold us in perpetual bondage. Let's have our country back!

Umunze1stSon:What's the level of infrastructural development? Is it evenly distributed? Are there slums? How's living conditions in the slums? Are there deliberate policies to develop them? What about social services? Is public water supply available? What about transportation? How many hours do commuters spend on traffic gridlocks? How about security of lives and properties? Are there activities of touts? Sanitation nko? Is the city generally Clean? Are there cases of flooding after a downfall? What's the level of land, air, water and noise pollution? Cities like Tehran and Kabul may be engrossed in warfare, but would score high in some of the other indices mentioned above. |
sukkot:Even APC brought in Buhari from Niger Republic. Now it's Atiku from Benin Republic and Shetima from Chad |
Chnbanc:You classify every lover a simp, wheres you do worse things |
HeeBraHim2:So the reason for distorting historical facts is to pave way for rotten teeth nonagenarian Yoruba parkinson ridden senile to rule Nigeria? How many times have you protested the use of northern people to head over 80% ofevery government agency since Buhari became president? How many times have you condemned the domination of the oil industry by notherners despite not having a drop of crude oil in their lands? Who exactly constructed unilag and UI? Was it the Western regional government? Was Aguinyi Ironsi responsible for increasing Nigeria's regions from 4 to 12? Which history book are you reading? If power rotation is necessary for unity to be maintained is it not fair for the SE to have its turn? Is it really the emi lokan of Tinubu or the SW? These are fundamental issues, but no, you would rather publish thrash on why the SE should be sidelined. Yet you said we are one Nigeria? Your tribalism stinks. Either repent or it will consume you. |
Godoverevery:Tribalism will kill you. |
TooNoisy:Stop deceiving yourself. Tinubu is senile and incoherent. He can't put two words together right now without commiting blunders. He's being packaged like an infant. He's not allowed to make public utterances except the ones written for him to read. It shows his head is vastly empty as a human being. He may have been warming up for a while same way Buhari had been warming up since 1999, but still ends up a monumental failure. Suffer no dey taya you? |

Quintopia:I don't know the cave you just crawl from. Have you looked around you? Even the normal evening football practice young men are abandoning it. Some just go to practice as exercise these days, nothing serious like they want to make a career out of it. Some even leave the game to check their phones to see if their "*clients*" have paid or responded to their chats. It's crazy how addicted you young men have been to this yahoo madness. Face this fact and wake up or continue to call your entire generation mumu. |
