Did the citizens of bayelsa complain that Alams was stealing before he was arrested? They even protested in support.

A typical first Friday of the month traffic extends into the toll gate area and atimes 3rd mainland bridge just because one man must do bizniz
I posted my rejoinder to you earlier on, you simply skipped it over and here you are jumping onto an analogy that has no correlation to the subject matter. Would I be right to say your analogy here is very puerile.

For one, you took my quote out of context. It was meant in the context of Nigerians who are ready to pay for their wards to go through the high expense of a private university. Have they in any way come knocking at your door for help relief and complaint that Adeboye is sucking them dry?

Secondly, in what way is Adeboye stealing from the people? If you have evidence to show for it, there are agencies in Nigeria responsible for investigating into this matter. Kindly submit your proof for all to see. It is so easy to sit behind a computer and type all manner of jargons without been held accountable for all sort of lies fabricated. undecided

Jakumo:
Speaking of evidence, Pataki, your own relatively unobstructed drive through the Lagos Expressway on one specific occasion cannot on its own merit constitute statistically significant evidence that the monthly traffic meltdown which normally occurs there has ceased to exist.   Your experience merely proves that you drove through the area in question at "low tide", when possibly the cult followers were inside their fleecing sheds, and not yet swarming the road for their return journey to Lagos.

You have correctly identified various other reasons why the Lagos to Ibadan Expressway has mutated into the Parking Lot from Hell, but the combined effect of all the other blockages you mentioned above still pales in comparison with the tidal-wave of traffic inflicted monthly on that highway by Pastor Eunuch's church grounds.  Since Eunuch is also the primary offender with the longest history of obstructing a federal highway anywhere in Nigeria,  there is no harm in identifying him as an unrepentant public enemy, particularly if he really is starting to nurse hallucinations of running for president of Nigeria in 2011.
Indeed you are truly a jester. I have simply required of you, evidence to substantiate and validate your incessant obtuse rejoinder to the claims you keep alleging. However, your irascibility towards the growth of Redeem will not make you permeate to the level of plausible reasoning. Hence your excellent way to dribble around with words and jump on my back to refute that my own experience which several others must have experienced becomes negligible.

Therefore, it is best I let you be.

Jakumo:
Pataki, the mere fact that such a horrendous and deadly traffic jam has been allowed to reccur monthly for the past quarter century is proof enough that the person and organisation at the root of the problem have so far been granted immunity from prosecution over this ongoing crime against society.

Video evidence showing Pastor Eunuch chatting away on the phone with a sitting Nigerian president is NOT necessary, since the consequences of such silent influence over Nigeria's power structure are disastrously evident every month when the main economic artery of the country is blocked, gravely endangering all who find themselves mired in the trap.
False assumptions! When last did you ply the Lagos - Ibadan Expressway? Yes there have been complaint in the time past about the living horror commuters go through on that road most especially during the period of Redeem having their meetings/convention. The last time I happened to pass that Expressway, I feared for the worst as it was the day for their convention. I was however impressed that within couple of minutes, our car had gone smoothly from the camp without hassles. No thanks to the operational work of the FRSC that evening. It may not be perfect yet, but there is a conscious awareness towards CHANGE in respecting that there are other commuters plying that road.

In case you failed to see my point, I asked for evidence (not only video evidence) to show that religious leaders have an influence on political heavyweights so much that concerns raised by commuters on that road have been succinctly silenced. Even when the fact remains that Nigeria is a secular state. Yet you would rather prefer as always to skylark with words. undecided

Talking about economic artery being blocked because of Redeem on that road, smacks of you being a jester worthy of a show at the medieval courts. Are you aware that Dangote has most of his trucks packed along that road as well? At the same time, BLW, MFM, An Islamic Organization ( I have forgotten their name) as well have their camps situated along that road?

subsidized education doesn't make sense  huh. i think we would have to agree to disagree on this one.
I am really gob smacked with the way you dribble round this 'logical' point of yours. Build cheap universities, with it provide Financial Aid. . . . . How ludicrous does that sound to you huh You are however yet to show me a Cheap University anywhere in the world managed by a Church.

bawomolo:
enrollment into Nigerian universities are highly contested unlike secondary or primary schools.   my question is why put the cost of these Universities beyond the reach of the people that are the power behind your popularity.  the idea that the offerings of people went to building these universities but these same people would never be able to set foot on these universities is appalling. Again, catholic charities and missions have achieved more than these modern day evangelicals.
Is it not amazing that those who talk about this matter frustratingly, are not even members of Redeem themselves.

Even among Government Universities, the prices differ. The ridiculous amount you pay to State funded university is different from what you would pay to a Federal University in Nigeria. Even though, we should assume that these  universities are funded minimally from the tax generated from its citizens. Shouldn't we expect that these universities will come by as cheap given that part of the revenue generated from the tax of its citizens is used to maintain these ivory towers of ours?

bawomolo:
universities built using their tithes and offerings of which only a tiny subset of the population benefit from.  you see how the cycle of poverty continues?
Have Redeem members come to your door to complain about this matter to you? Why is it bugging you this much? The cycle of poverty emanates from the Nigerian Government that cannot provide job for its citizen, provide good pipe borne water, provide 24 hour electricity. Yet to you, the cycle of poverty arises from a tiny subset who are able to pay for their wards to attend a private university. undecided

bawomolo:
a long term solution would be the relocation or demolition of these camp grounds. something, these churches would never allow. you don't get it do you,  these religious bodies are ran like for profit organizations when they can do much more for the populace.
Please tell me what more they can do for the populace? Provide good roads? Provide food and shelter for the populace? Provide education for the populace? Provide 24 hour security for lives and property? I really do not know where your point lies in here. . . . .  undecided

bawomolo:
constitutionally secular but heavily influenced by religion
Does it still remove the fact that Nigeria is a secular state? NO!
PoliticsRe: Pastor Adeboye For President 2011. Would You Vote Him? by Pataki: 5:36am On Dec 30, 2008
bawomolo:
well daddy go and many other religious leaders are buddies with political heavyweights and have repeatedly stopped any attempts to reallocate the land.  These churches have used politicians for their OWN benefits rather than the interests of the common man they supposedly preach to.  Religious bodies in Nigeria are part of the top and not separate from it.  A look at the side roads leading to the camp and the parking situation of the convention grounds is evident that Redeem could have given a damn about the traffic hell hole it was about to cause
Your standpoint is really warped up. Can you please provide proof to your statements here? I would love to know the intrigues of how religious leaders have manipulated political heavyweights for their own selfishness. Taken into consideration that Nigeria is a secular state.

bawomolo:
the term "arguing" has a negative connotation so i want to shy away from that.
I was rather baffled when there were clear contradictions within the same statement.

bawomolo:
i'm not asking for him to cheapen the education but to provide subsidies or financial aid to students that can't afford tuition.
This was not your first input. Rather you were of the belief that. . . . . . .
bawomolo:
"DADDY" Go has a right to keep on building expensive universities (u'd think churches would subsidize tuition for students) ,
.
If following your plausible reasoning, should I assume that you want less expensive universities, with financial aids to augment that as well? undecided

Does that make sense?

bawomolo:
It seems you are content with the status-quo just because others do it so it's fine for Adeboye to do it.    I find it amusing you compare a Catholic primary school to a University.
You failed to see where my comparison lies. Let me make it simple. As there exist privately funded Primary schools, there also exist privately funded universities. And from my own experience after attending a private primary school even when there were public primary school, it was not anywhere near CHEAP. Should I then assume that a privately funded university in Nigeria would come cheap? Does that follow any logical pattern?

bawomolo:
Lots of Nigerian parents can put their kids to primary schools ( which are much more cheaper than universities), the same can't said be for their children's university education.
So would that be the fault of Redeem, if some Nigerian parents cannot afford their children attending a privately funded university?

bawomolo:
The way the man runs his church and obstructs a public highway is up for public criticism.
Sure I agree. But I reiterate the point that, your misgivings is directed at the wrong direction. Redeem Church does not constitute the Government. If there is a disruption on the public highway, there is Federal Road Safety that can be contacted and given their public criticism for not living-up to the task given to them.

bawomolo:
why make the assumption if you don't know
The same question you ask me, I will throw it back at you. Why make an assumption if you do not know. Do you know whether he provides financial aids to students in need?

PoliticsRe: Pastor Adeboye For President 2011. Would You Vote Him? by Pataki: 3:14am On Dec 30, 2008
bawomolo:
catholic universities in chicago such as Loyola and Depaul provide Financial Aid but that's standard in Western Nations anyway.  The fact that private religious universities in Nigeria are much more expensive than the average is worrisome.  I wish i could find the study that spoke about this.
My fundamental question still lies on: Show me a cheap university anywhere in the world managed by a church? All you are saying here is universities managed by churches that provide Financial Aid. I am not sure whether Redeem has financial aid for its students, but I would suppose they do.

I remember in my primary school days, I attended a Catholic primary school and right beside it was a Public Government primary school which was more or less free education. Yet my parents paid that I attend a Catholic primary school which was by no means cheap than the average public primary/secondary school even as at back then.

So what exactly is worrisome to you if there are Nigerians who are willing to pay for their wards to attend such ''more expensive universities''? undecided

bawomolo:
So rather than address the problem, you turn a blind eye to it just because it happens in other places.  Why should people of God act just like corrupt heathens.
I am not turning a blind eye to it as I know those who have been entrapped in the traffic issues emanating from that road. But rather than attack the matter from the top as you are doing, your misgivings should be directed to the Government who allocated the location to Redeem without properly ensuring to see that all possible risks that would emerge in the nearest future are tackled effectively.

the mind your business attitude is the reason Nigeria is in the state it's in today.  put an end to the problem before it affects you or one of your family members.   "DADDY" Go has a right to keep on building expensive universities (u'd think churches would subsidize tuition for students) , secondary schools etc but how his organization acquires this wealth is everyone's business.  the fact this "blessings" haven't trickled down to his congregation and the congregation of many other Nigerian preachers says a lot about their message of prosperity and happiness.

The traffic issues that Daddy's conventions lead to is definitely the business of the Nigerian public.

Papabrowne - Your ability to differentiate intelligent and non-intelligent people is worthy of an honorary degree from Princeton.
Please show me where in the world you have cheap education from Universities managed by churches. I am really interested in knowing what your point is.

Alongside, to the traffic issue, is the Lagos - Ibadan Expressway, the only road in Nigeria that has traffic issues? What alternative source of transportation is available for commuters to ease off the traffic issues not only on that road but across the nation Nigeria?

You are clearly raising an issue here, but your misgivings are in the wrong direction.

Are you cool with the way he abetted corruption and looting of the country by corrupt politicians?

The traffic thing is no joke. I know a friend who spent 11 hours from Lagos to Ibadan. just because one man wants to make money.
@ dayokanu,

My question to you is: Are the people of Redeem  complaining if ''Adeboye is making money''? Please show me where church members have arisen that Adeboye is only interested in making money from them. Take into note that there are Professors, Bankers, Accountants, Doctors, learned men and women of different professions not only from Nigeria but across the globe who are members of The Redeem Church. So how is it possible that he has hoodwinked them into siphoning money from them? I need your answer to that.

Coming back to the issue of traffic on the Lagos - Ibadan expressway, I have heard numerous stories of people spending hours on that expressway. I used to think it was all lies not until I got into the situation personally myself. I left Ketu Bus Stop at exactly 6pm friday evening after coming from VI, struggled to get a car to board to Abeokuta simply because there was fuel crisis at that period in time. We got on the Expressway after some couple of miles from Berger and we got stuck in these traffic jam. Sincerely our car did not move until 9am the following morning. Spent 15 hours on the road doing nothing for a journey of 1hour or thereabout.

What was the cause of the jam? A truck carrying oil had split on the road causing severe accidents. It was not a Redeem convention or MFM or any other of those churches on the express way but just an ordinary oil truck that had an accident and fell to obstruct the road. We ended up spending 15 hours to get out of it.

If your grouse is with Adeboye obstructing the road, do not blame him. Afterall, right here in London, Adeboye came for Festival of Life last November and there was never an occurrence of London roads becoming blocked simply because the Government has made all necessary facilities for easy transportation from such avenue. All Redeem needed to do was make use of the facilities as designed and transportation was made easy. Is normal day transportation in Nigeria that easy as compared to other developed nation of the world?

@ Pataki, I was so scared reading your reply, I believe you have managed to manipulate this thing so that for some reason, you leave me puzzled when I am about to reply. Don't ask why. Somewhat of a fatherly/teacher figure to me anyways. .

Good points made, and it seems every discussion basically agrees that 'Men and women, both acts strangely at times.' 'It is unfair to say men have a particular trait, or women have a particular trait.' 'We should all try to become better people'. 'Everyone is different'. I just thought I'd open up a can of worms (as always), because I'm tired of political answers.

I wonder how many times you read through your replies, because I rarely can fault them, though at times I am able to sense a slight bit of tension behind the points you make, but it's all good.

OMGosh. . is TopUp rambling? tongue

P.s. I know what Verbiage means, be careful with that one!
Now you got me speechless. When I saw you had responded again, I asked myself how did she do it?! grin I value your inputs as it smacks of in-depth knowledge on matters of the heart. I have learnt one or two things from this topic tonight and I also say thank you for the appreciation given towards my contribution on this topic.

Yeah at times there could be emotions embedded with my posts even observable by myself. I have observed from your several posts it is not the case. I admire such and I desire for it. smiley

P.S: I know you know the meaning of ''verbiage.'' It often times can come across as an insult which was not the sole intention in the context I used it in. If I could have found a much mild word as a synonym to 'verbiage' used I do have used it. But I was verbally handicapped at the time of writing. cheesy

Lol, you didn't agree with one line, so my whole write-up ended so badly? Anyways, yes, I will admit to bias, though I make personal efforts not to be, or more correctly, not to appear so.

With the part in bold, devastating issues don't die with time, we are able to put them aside and get on with our lives, but I can say almost everyone remembers that guy or girl who screwed them over, some people when they talk about the first heartbreak they had, get a sharp pain in their 'heart' - basically, they remember vividly their ordeal. I still believe that maybe if you have both tried to reason with each other and are too stubborn to come to any conclusions that yes, maybe accept it and let it lie. But I am specifically considering the disappearing act. To free yourself from a relationship, knowing that the other person still wants to know the answers. If he/she begs for the truth, let them have it. Sometimes maybe there are no excuses, maybe my ex didn't want me to know that he never did quit smoking, never could, and continually flirted with other girls leading to him being in lots of compromising situations. The only person I think who if that was kept secret would benefit is him. Maybe, some guys don't give you closure because it means they would have to admit their fault, that they were a terrible boyfriend, maybe they would have to admit that they could have done better, that they are a liar, cheat, undeserving. You would lose all respect for them, all pity, and may never want to speak to them again. We say that these people just want to move on and be left alone, but if that is the case, then why is it that when I finally moved on and didn't contact for 5 months, that he is sending me messages to say hello?? If anyone is running away from the problem is it him not me.

Please guys don't take THIS too personally, I'm female and I am writing from my perspective, swap the guys for girls if you wish for it to apply to you, it still works!

Again you draw me back with your interesting verbiage. I must commend you for the passion to which you write which is oftentimes, devoid of emotional ties often seen with regular posts on this forum. Your conclusion was the summary to the topic and if it was that biased as I saw it, it totally negates the value of your inputs. However, many thanks for the acceptance to my correction.

I would like to make a pointer clear for you. That is, you should not be quick to stereotype every man or woman that indulges in CLOSURE to be totally wrong. Situation differs and it is at times probable that one party would not reason as the other party is reasoning when found in a predicament of their relationship hitting the wall.

The way I do handle my emotional battles with my partner, would be different from the way you handle yours. I may perfectly reason that CLOSURE is the ultimate way to delivering myself from the entangles of the relationship which has hit the rocks. I have often times seen that it is best when one party walks away from the relationship, it may be painful and cruel to the other partner, but hey break-ups often times is not a jolly jolly affair. So whichever way it comes, both partner should accept that things have fallen apart and it is time to move on however hurtful it may have been passed across.  undecided

Your girlfriend of 7 months, just tells you one day that it's all over. Ok, so in the past 2 months she's been slowly distancing herself from you, less phone calls, visits and barely any enthusiasm, so of course, she's prepared herself for the breakup, but you are completely unaware, you think everything is fabulous, you're even thinking about what to get her for her birthday. The birthday comes, and she's all fantastic, you think you two are a match made in heaven, then a week later, she breaks up with you, and of course you're stunned so you don't ask all the questions you want to ask and the questions just float around in your head, you sulk for ages and then after the intial stage of upset, you now want answers, but guess what, she's moved on, she's now got a new guy, your number's been deleted off her phone, and you're calling to ask her why she left you, because you deserve to know, and she just speaks to you like your wasting her time, she is uneasy to talk to you or acknowledge the good 5 months you spent as a close knit couple, and it hurts, in order to move on, you need to know where you went wrong, so it's not too personal, after all it could easily be her cheating ways or wandering eyes. Just knowing this would save so much soul-searching, further heartbreak and just confusion.

Now do you understand the power of closure?? If you don't I will gladly go on and on and on. .

This is just my plea, so you guys give us a break, stop dragging things along, we know you hate confrontation and hurting our feelings, but being left to our own thoughts could actually really affect us, and is far worse for our psyche than being told the truth.

CLOSURE is KEY!

Peace smiley
You started your write-up so well. Quite interesting to read. However, you have a biased conclusion. I expected that after stating your observation regarding women who are so obsessed with CLOSURE, your conclusion will be directed to respective parties (male and female).

That said, you are right in your own view and I reason with you. But in my own opinion, it is best at times, to let issues die away with time. The lady may not reason along that line, but over time she would see that closure to the matter was the best solution to setting one another free from the emotional hurt.

RomanceRe: Would You Wish Your Estranged Ex Happy Birthday? by Pataki: 11:31pm On Dec 24, 2008
Immediately she became my ex, everything about her became the past. I do not keep records of what pertains to her and I expect the same from her.

We all move on with our respective lives.
PoliticsRe: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by Pataki: 12:58pm On Dec 24, 2008
Sometimes the way NIgerians reason baffles me.
There's the mikeansy chap that goes around claiming that the only people critical of RIbadu are Yahoo boys.
Look, there's a difference between jubilating at someone's downfall and being critical of someone's conduct.
I have been one of the most strident anti-corruption and anti-Yahoo members of Nairaland since it's inception so i take extreme offense at the accusation this retard mikeansy is spouting.

My argument is clear. Ribadu has handled this matter badly. We always heard that a man of clear conscience fears no accusation, that an innocent man should fight to clear his name. But when i see a police officer with years of experience taking the battle to the pages of Nigerian newspapers only, then i wonder how clear the innocence is.

And just for the record, there's no indication that it the was the Police behind any purported assassination attempt, so the idea of him not reporting the issue to the Police, even if it is to elements sympathetic to his cause is quite funny.

NAturally people failed to answer my question, No one is willing to bet his life that Ribadu is entirely clean contrary to the allegations made against him. So if you harbor any iota of doubt why defend him roundly?

Oh, i forgot. This is Nigeria. Corruption is accepted as long as you do a managable job i.e Marwa of Lagos.

Mr Pataki, i'm not 'idiotic' as you put it. i'm merely cynical as most Nigerians are. Nigeria made me that way, i'm afraid.
Texazzpete,

Do you play chess? This game between Ribadu and the FG is like a game of chess.

1. His opponent removed him as the EFCC boss ( Attacking Move 1). Ribadu complied.

2. Sent him off for a course (Attacking Move 2). Ribadu complied.

3. He was demoted from his current position (Attacking Move 3) Ribadu complied.

4. He was arrested on the day of his graduation (Attacking Move 4!) Ribadu ran to the court (His own move of defense).

5. He was allegedly attacked meant as an assasination attempt (Attacking Move 5!) Ribadu ran to the news media

6. He was given a query and asked to report to the IG(Attacking Move 6!) Ribadu declined that move!

7. He was handed a dismissal letter. (Checkmate!)

Now I feel his decline to report to work was well justified. This is Nigeria, he can easily be set-up. The IG may lay accusations at him that while coming to report for duty, that he physically assaulted the IG and therefore he is seriously a potential threat to the nation.

I knew this is not Nimshi. This guy is not so difficult to decipher. The way he posts, he is definitely an old member who does not reside in Nigeria. He would rather want you to believe he is what he is rather on the contrary he is who you are thinking and not what he is making you to think.

Oh well if it is him, he sure has an interesting character. His knowledge about Islam is solid, and yet he still knows how to switch to attacking christianity and throwing disses at peeps.

What a peculiar individual. grin

Adam Brody is Nimshi. He isn't new here either. .joined in 07. This ID is what you can call the 'Internet gangster"
I do not think he is Nimshi. I just viewed who is Nimshi and their writings are far apart. Nimshi attacks Islam with a passion, hardly ever on the romance section.

Adam Brody attacks women with a passion and zeal, sits on the religion board to fight Christianity. They are two mutually exclusive individuals. undecided
