The same leaders who see your faces today, when seeking for your votes become those who tomorrow when elected begin to move about in fully tinted amoured vehicles in Nigeria. Who are we decieving? undecided

I remember when the case of children been accused of withcraft was tendered to the Imo State governor, those children waited in the blistering sun for over four hours just to see a single man whom was ''elected'' to listen to them.

Sure I will take it easy if you had not come inquiring whether I was on my period. angry angry

2003 when OGD came in, I was impressed. I campaigned heavily against Osoba who happened to be my neighbour for years. I was impressed with his resume, person and charisma. I thought to myself, Ogun State has come to change. And did it change? YES IT DID.

However, absolute power corrupts. He got himself intoxicated with that power, he lost touch with realities. He began his own forms of terror and corruption began. I remember I was once terrorized by his men on the road, I have forgotten the name he gave to those touts then. They are no more now though. Their headquaters used to be in the former governor's office in Oke-ilewo. Contracts been awarded began to favor his fan base from Lagos. When his commissioner for Information resigned back then, I knew he had lost it.

OGROMA his road pet project which was a laudable achievement then, has become a total rubbish. Or why have OGROMA and people are here complaining of bad roads in Ogun State? For all I care, he should not have bothered coming back to rig the last election.

He should have left when the ovation was the loudest.

message for dapolam
according to my political experience with nigerians or in nigeria, you do not have to answer any question if you don't feel like it. you do not have to be too nice or respectful. be very firm, draft your plan and stick to it. please do not hesitate to set people straight if they cross the line.
when you display too much respect or too much mr nice or trying to impress by answering all their questions, it means you're gradually digging a hole for yourself and your future. most nigerians tend to take being nice and respectful as a weakness. they do not understand that language. therefore, once you open mr sweet or mr nice door, they will step all over your face and won't take you serious.
be firm, be tough, be smart, believe in yourself and give back to the best of your ability. the rest will come together.
OBJ never grants press interviews, he insults them to hell. IBB is too intelligent for himself with his maradona answers. We all know how their leadership accountability is today, and how lives were destroyed under their governance with no one to  hold them accountable simply because not all questions must be addressed.

You are here saying not all questions should be addressed within in the Nigerian mentality. . . . . With such an acute reasoning from you, is there hope for this nation if you are entrusted with leadership for this country? If you are not ready to face the heat of exposing yourself for the whole world to know, do not step into leadership.

What reputation preceeds him? The guy is not perfect, he should go and sit down and stop painting a picture of himself being the best person to have happened to the whole world.

How many times in a week does OGROMA fill up the potholes on that ''newly constructed road''? Does that defend your point of Federal and State road? Or what are you getting at basically? tongue

it isn't fair to paint everyone with the same colour, simply because questions weren't answered to your high standard. bright people do not operate or function this way and i'm not sure if we could come together and change anything in nigeria if we all think this way. it is obvious that he's being extra careful and doesn't want any fight with you guys. and i can not blame him for taking this route, afterall his identity is known. how many of you could come on nairaland and use your real names? he's not hidding and he's not afraid. i'm sorry, the man deserves a break and i think he will do just fine.
What are you talking about seriously?

Has he dissociated himself from his predecessors? NO. The other day it was Adedibu's son aspiring for Senatorial position. Ibadan and its backwardness. Is this not the same old recycled political gimmicks we have seen over and over again that he is playing here? Who asked him to bare open his identity? He wants to a political office, he is clamoring that he is the CHANGE the society needs. . . . . . which is ridiculous to me. Thefore. . . . . . . .

Let him come open and address all issues that have been raised at him. What is there to hide if he is claiming transparency towards his political career. I DO NOT SEE ANYTHING SERIOUS TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT WITH THIS HIS POLITICAL GAMES.

Abuse? huh

The same break was given to Smart Adeyemi see where it landed us.

The same break was given to Dimeji Bankole, the result is evident today.

The same break was given OBJ, Nigerians are still cursing him till tomorrow.

The same ''give the man a break'' was applied to all the thieves and rogues in power today, and yet they are milking us dry.

Dapolam has had a taste of what POWER AND MONEY can do, and how did he use it? His records speaks of him in his days in UI. Can he effectively defend how he has made/gotten ''his money''? NO!

Dapolam has effectively mastered the art of diplomatic answers which our thieves in leadership use to manipulate the simple minded Nigerians. I have not seen any serious agenda of his. Who cannot even draft propaganda in these days of the internet of copy and paste and revise?

He should find something else to do. I am see this as an outright joke of the year 2008.

Let the truth be told. Nigeria is ours and we love it warts and all.
Whoever doesn't like what he or she sees and gets should find a way to contribute his/her own quota to make it good.

We have seen so many Nigerian leaders who love to travel abroad, see good things but fail to implement it at home.

I am surprise at the level of ignorance of some people posting threads here. How in this age and time when everyone is fighting against racism and nepostism you still find some ethnic bigots in our midst. These people still claim to be educated.

@ namun: you and your cohorts keep talking nonsense to muza about northerners. You know that isn't fair. I served in the North and I love it there. I have so many friends who have made their homes in the north. How can you stoop so low. Every tribe in Nigeria and indeed the world have their own merits and demerits.

I dare you if you can mention your tribe and let Nairalanders point out the ills of the tribe you belong to.

The north consists of over 300 ethnic groups with Hausa as one of them. There are Muslims and Christians.

Just recently a friend of mine from Osun state got married to a girl from Jos. An Army officer friend from Gombe State married a girl from Delta State.

I really don't want to divert away from the main topic but I just want us to really stop this RACISM in the name of TRIBALISM. This is the same thing Americans fought against by voting OBAMA.

I am not here to insult anyone but offer constructive criticism. We need to change.

I once wonder why a friend from the southwest went the east to marry a girl and the girl's family told him that his place is too far and how can a Yoruba man marry their daughter and take her away to a distant place like Ogbomoso. And to cap it this young man lives up North in Kano where he works with a New Generation Bank. But couple of years later the same daughter of theirs brought in a German man as her husband and the whole of her family danced and jubilated that their daughter has met with good fortune. No one told the Whitey that his country is racist or is too far away. No one bothers that they can never find it easy interact with the grooms family. It is a fact that the Nigerian family will everly be despised.

I am a Nigerian and I really don't care where you come from. That is why ai like Banky W's song, "I Love Naija"
This is the second time you will go offtopic and post your rubbish here. If you want to address the issue of tribalism, waka to the culture section. Read the Topic Headliner before posting your bunkum next time.

Sorry I goofed about the election drama as I earlier stated, I never attended UI, but I knew about your ways in UI and for you to come stating you wish to contest soon in the coming years is annoying seriously. Otus is my friend and I have him on my facebook list of friends same with some other friends of yours back in UI. I never intended to malign your person, if my posts cuts across as such to you, my apologies.

You have once again failed to explain how you came about your sudden wealth. If you are clamoring for a change in our generation, lay out in plain terms who you are. Let us know how you started with your wealth, if it is on honesty we will appreciate. If it is on deceit, say the plain truth and we will all know where to go on from there.

I still stand by words however, I do not see any potential of honesty in you to aspire for a leadership position. This was exactly the same way Dimeji Bankole started, same way Smart Adeyemi began. It is the same old recycled dishonesty painted with a fading color of honesty.

Regards.

We will look into the "iice can I meet you thread", but mukina2 and other moderators are working very hard to make this forum habitable and we need to give them more respect and appreciation.
That thread is a perfect example of an absolute offtopic without been banned. There is no point to that thread as all discussion is about ''pammy'' and ''your esteemed moderators''. It has no relevance to dating and meeting-up. It should long have been locked if the same ''strict'' measure of locking threads for offtopic and posters are banned for offtopic is applied in all honesty and sincerity.

Let us make this forum habitable for everyone and respect every posters dissatisfaction to issues such as this.
PoliticsRe: Dapolam Accepts Defeat, speaks to Nairalanders by Pataki: 4:02pm On Dec 14, 2008
I just had time to look at your postings on this forum so far, all your 74 or thereabout postings till now has been based principally on this topic which in otherwords connote it is all about YOU and defending your person and not bothered about other issues pertinent to Nation which the politics section of nairaland reeks of.

You have totally failed to let us know how you came about the outstanding resources of money ascribed to your name, company and person. I remember when you wanted to contest for the Engineering Student President in UI against Otus, remember your Effizzy package and the popular term people ascribed that election was: The Masses Vs The Government (You).

You have not shown any consistency as typical with every money aspiring politician. From Agricultural Engineering-to-Cyber Cafe Owner- to-Oil Company Director! [s]Haba! You even had maga money to complement [/s]without any concise and credible source as to how you made your money. I know of people who saw the kind of lifestyle you lived in UI based on your oppressions who resorted to Yahoo-Yahoo runs just to measure up and not remain oppressed by your flamboyant lifestyle. Spending money was not a problem to you then never knowing that the road to making that money will not be easy.

If you are truly interested in helping your constituency, start by making the streets of Ibadan clean, take a broom, sweep and begin from there. Ibadan is too dirty! I do not believe you are genuine though as your interest as always being  in wanting to stay in the spotlight. Anything just to keep you relevant right from UI days, you will passionately follow with it.

Come out clean, dissociate yourself from the sudden riches of your father, tied to Amala politics of Adedibu, bring out a clean slate and write out where you have gone wrong and own up to your wrongs from the past totally. Obasanjo however used that same tactics too when he wrote the book called: The Animal Called Man sweeping us with his repentant inanities. Today Nigerians know better.

We want credible leaders from our youth not those who built their lives on the connections of their fathers who stole this nation dry. I am sorry, I will NEVER support you for any public office(s). The mistakes of our fathers will not be repeated in our generation. My children will never forgive me for it.

@ debosky,
How dare you tell me I am not a patriotic Nigerian. angry Is it because tpia and I are on the same page on this topic? cheesy Or is it because I am living the talk of tpia? grin

tpia is most patriotic tribalist-Nigerian on nairaland!  grin cheesy grin She loves to see her boli roasted from the gutters, where is opulence of microcosm which have added on benefit to the boli, she delights that basic amenities of life are procluded from the Masses. She reasons that once everyone moves on with their lives, Nigeria is blessed and a sign of greatness. Generators is one of the most remarkable innovations in Nigeria to keep the power generation in Nigeria stable and green. May God bless her ingenuity. grin

Did you say one who post pictures of slum in Nigeria is not patriotic? I am going to comply with the new status quo as the below picture is a modern invention of street begging in our world leading, giant of Africa called Nigeria at least it shows Nigeria is blessed with opulence.

PoliticsRe: Lagos: Opulence In The Midst Of Poverty (NYTimes) by Pataki: 12:59pm On Dec 14, 2008
You all praise Obama but no one wants to learn from Obama.

He says it loud and clear- "My father was a goat herder who made something of himself".

His dad actually had myriads of problems with the Kenyan govt and serious personal problems after returning home. But do you hear Obama yelling to the whole world about how bad things were in kenya and how Kenya has none of the amenities found in western countries. Instead, he faced his life and instead of constant whining, made something of himself. He used what he had and built on that instead of destroying his foundations. Kenya has slums too- surprise!!!!!!!

Seriously, I'm ashamed for my fellow Nigerians. Its a great pity so many Nigerians are so blinded by empty pride and hollow arrogance that they cut off their own noses to spite their face.

On your photo here, pataki: its not what someone is now thats important- its what the person can become in future. The woman may be sitting there frying boli today- it doesnt mean she or one of her children can't become big tomorrow. From what I heard, MKO Abiola grew up dirt poor. He later became one of the richest men in Nigeria.
Did you make that statement in bold while sleeping? shocked shocked Seriously I am more afraid in respect to your thinking.

You have some few points here however there are still underlying issues of gross error from your post which I intend to highlight and move on.

Your reference to Obama to support your argument further shows that you are seriously grasping at straws just to show you are a ''Patriotic'' Nigerian. When you cite World Leaders as an example to your argument, are you viewing their lives based on what they did, in order for you to emulate or more importantly based on what they are not yet doing so you can improve better on with? undecided

Your stating that Obama does not whine about the state of Affairs in Kenya is pathetic. No responsible and capable world leader sees any situation deteriorating anywhere in the world and does not make noise about it whether Somalia, Zimbabwe, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Nigeria or even the USA. The UK is whining about economic recession, in your myopic view, everyone is just minding their business and trying to make a living out of their own lives. Right? Numerous world relief organisations abound, why are they not minding their business and leave others to their state of needs or fetid poverty? So judging from your statement quoted above, you do prefer that things are left the way they are in the nation and everyone moves on with their lives and let the poor and destitute remain in their squalor of poverty and as a sure example is Obama in respect to Kenya?

To further buttress your point as conclusion, you made mention to MKO Abiola, I rather reason that picking a case in isolation out of the millions of Nigerians residing in Lagos and Nigeria at large is simply to indicate that opulence truly exist in the midst of abject poverty which is quite remarkable.
