You know good and well that you were not referring to 'limited leave to remain' when you told that story about your friend. You clearly state that after a few weeks he was granted the right to stay in the UK, the key word here being 'right'.

If you are not clear on this matter, it is better to ask rather than jump on a false assumption and try to force it down as your point. I am sure you are not intellectually handicapped not to know that there is ''limited leave to remain'', ''further leave to remain'', and your prized ''indefinite leave to remain''.

While you are so passionate about wanting him deported, labeling him as a criminal and not meeting the requirement for the 14year rule, I can most assuredly tell you that within the UK, issues like this are easy to work around with it.

In the documentary it stated clearly that the case had now been referred to the police and so that means it is now a police matter; a criminal matter. If you knew anything about the UK then you would also know that more often than not each government body works independently of the other. My point being that if immigration felt that this case had nothing to do with the police whose duty it is to help restore law and order to society then they wouldn't have referred the case to them.

It is a well known fact that in order for an illegal immigrant to become legal they must go back to their own country on their own accord and expense in order to apply for the proper visa there. In the UK , there is currently no such amnesty in place which allows an illegal immigrant to give themselves up so that they can go through the proper procedures in order to be granted indefinite leave to remain like that. That would not only make a complete mockery of the system but also be highly unfair to those who had chosen to go through the proper channels in order to legally live and work in the UK.

Given that fact I don't believe one bit of the story about your friend as there is no way they would have been granted indefinite stay in the country by simply walking into the police station.  As I have said there are others who have taken the time to go through the proper channels so why would he be rewarded for breaking the law? Especially when respect of the law of the land is the fundamental rule of citizenship?

I am also aware that illegal immigrants have the option to leave the UK voluntarily and apply from their country of origin or any other country where they have a legal right to live in. I doubt that that bloke would be able to do that as he is now listed as an 'absconder' and his details have now been referred to the police. In short, he is now a criminal.

I also don't think it is my responsibility to worry about the types of leaders Nigeria has because the way I see it, such leaders are the product of their environment. It is down to Nigerians in Nigeria to sort out their own issues instead of illegally seeking to reside in countries that they have no right to be in.

I have no sympathy for such Nigerians who will take short cuts and  jump through hoops of fire to get to the UK or the US but won't take the time out to persevere and go through the proper channels in order to obtain the proper documentation to live where they want. There are plenty of Nigerians that have taken the proper route to get where they want to be in their host countries of choice and most are not all from rich Nigerian families either.

I am not so sure whether absconding now entails him as a criminal. If it were ever so, it would have been clearly stated.  I know of a person who stayed in the UK illegally, never got arrested and decided one day to walk to the police station all by himself to surrender himself to the police. He was arrested by the police and Home Office was contacted.

After weeks of detention and all sorts of procedures, following his honesty and sincerity, he was granted a right to stay in the UK. Cases differ and yes you have a right to your argument but your attitude of passing across your message was in a condescending tone.
