agaugust: Veseel for vessel, Nigeria has the largest navy in Africa, and the most flexible role surface fleet.....and the only navy that engaged in large scale combat operations in the last 30 years anywhere on the African continent .
Largest =/= Best
Without any actual warships Nigeria is unable to perform any operations other than littoral maritime security.
agaugust: Yes oga mi , that water fording and snorkeling tank argument some weeks ago. Thanks bro, I owe you for these very revealing and practical photos .
You know that those photo's of henry120 confirms our entire argument?
Henry120: Your FOB has 850 troops. Your FOB is poorly secured and only has 6 APC's. The Nigerian base in Sudan is 10 times better protected, I posted images.
Plus the Nigerian military in Sudan also has Super-puma and MI-17 Helicopters.
I'm saying it is poorly guarded because it is, I also stated my reasons.
A country that manufactures APC's can't afford to equip it's troops in the CAR and Sudan. That's pathetic.
1. Thats not the main fob 2. Thats a COP with enough vehicals for 60 men (an under-strength company) 3. South Africa has Oryx in Sudan 4. Your fob has poor entrenchments and fortifications 5. Men in Sudan are properly equipped. Men in CAR were equipped according to their mission - a training operation with a small high-mobility airborne protection elemnt
Henry120: Pretoria - Operational commanders have painted a picture of chaos around the mission in the Central African Republic that claimed the lives of 15 South African soldiers - putting the blame squarely on the shoulders of the military’s top brass.
According to the Sunday Times, logistical blunders and feuding among military bosses led to South Africa’s ‘Mogadishu’ in March last year.
However, the military has never revealed before that all the deaths happened in a single ambush on 23 March last year when about 100 paratroopers were being transported in open vehicles through rebel territory.
Details came to light after interviews were conducted with survivors during a probe into the incident.
The newspaper reports that field commanders had pleaded for armoured personnel carriers two months before the ambush, that they had asked for sniper rifles, Rooivalk attack helicopters, Oryx transport helicopters and a reconnaissance aircraft - none of which were supplied.
Troops painted a picture of chaotic supply of weapons and equipment while dual reporting lines contributed to the logistical chaos while force commander Colonel William Dixon gave a horrific description of the lead up to the final assault that claimed the lives of the South Africans.
had become a target for reportedly helping CAR President Francois Bozize flee the country into the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to the report, top structures were warned by senior SANDF officers that the CAR mission amounted to "suicide".
SA Air Force aircraft were also put on standby but due to financial constraints the Gripens were not armed with weapons with an attack capacity.
SANDF soldiers reportedly struggled on the ground due to lack of logistics and air support.
Soldiers had to ask French parachutists for essential equipment, with only one doctor present with a backpack for medical support.
"A source with the United Nations in Bangui said the South Africans had asked for assistance from French forces to help them leave the country."
"Bangui - South African soldiers in the Central African Republic are seeking safe passage to the airport after taking heavy losses during fighting with Seleka rebels, Reuters reports."
"Amy Martin of the UN's humanitarian agency, OCHA, told the BBC World Service that the SA troops had retreated to their barracks and were seeking safe passage to the airport."
"Seleka spokesperson Eric Massi said the rebels had broken through a line of South African soldiers during their push into the city."
Ok, you can post that as many times as you want.
It doesnt answer my questions.
How?
Why?
Is this all you can do? Have we rap.ed you so hard that this is all you have? Cherry picking peices of articals and regurgitating them over and over?
Go pay your taxes, South African mercenaries want to collect their monthly paychecks.
Henry120: A Doctor with only a backpack is a medic you fool.
Okay, your doctor only had a backpack. That's all the supplies he had. He didn't even have the essentials.
That's all the supplies he had for 400 troops....... Like this is any better.
Please don't cry, I can't offer your wipes.
Pathetic force.
The essentials are contained in the medbag
And will have been supplimented by the equipment held by medics on the ground
Multiple Medics and doctors were present:
Sergeant Mampa Serole Colman, Corporal Ngobese Mandla Maxwell and Corporal Nkoana Molatelo Alphina were awarded the Nkwe ya Boronse decoration for valour
13 Other members of 7 Medical Battalion group received various medals for their participation in the Battle of Bangui.
“There’s so many issues,” said Alkasim Abdulkadir, a Nigerian freelance journalist and security analyst, citing the lack of a unified command structure, poor equipment, low morale and allegations of corruption among commanders as key reasons behind the military’s failures." - Al Jazeera
Last year, Nigerian troops were deployed as part of an African Union mission to Mali - they arrived without transport, armour, very little ammunition, and almost no communications equipment. - BBC
You had to rely on Chad, Cameroon and white mercenaries to liberate you.
Henry120: Deal with the facts, the SANDF is an incompetent, poorly organised pitiful, poorly trained, poorly equipped force.
Not according to reuters who were on the ground.
- 200 men - against 3000 - 14-18 hour battle - 13 dead on our side - around 500 dead on theirs - all our objectives met - they offered the cease fire
You wish your military could achieve that. Your whole Division of 20 000 men with tanks, artillery, jets and attack helicopters are as effective as 200 South African paratroopers, 4 12.5 HMG's and a half battery of 60mm mortars
Meanwhile, 1300 dead, 1,5 million displaced and a Kingdom the size of Belgium carved out in your own country. You suffered 35 Banguis!!
M23 said on the battlefield, the first army uniforms they saw in front was Tanzanian, next line they saw Malawian army uniforms, but they could not see the South African army because the Tanzanians and Malawians were already absorbing all the bullets while SANDF was too far behind.
LDF said the don't know any SANDF
I could not find a single Seleka dead body in Bangui after the fight, all I saw was a white flag hanging on an SANDF R-4 rifle and the flag was made of a brand of white p.ant commonly sold at Woolworth boutique in Johannesburg .
You personally spoke to M23?
LDF should know about us, we conqoured their country in 24 hours and killed 100 of them.
Journalists spoke to m23 who confirmed they lost over 400 men
lezz: indeed, Japan has successfully defeated china in the past. But if she as much as attempt to cough now, she will be obliterated out of the world map.
And I hate your ignorance. China is the king now in South east Asia, in economy, in power, politics and world play. Japan has been made insignificant by China. It is exactly what Nigeria does to you.
In all honesty, we don't have to meet up with you infrastructurally before bleeping you off.
Ok, your opinion is cool.
But factually speaking, Japan has the most powerfull navy in the region, followed by Korea
And with both as potoprotectorates of the US, they enjoy the protection of the US's nuclear arsenal.
China wouldent dare so much as look Japan in the eye.
jteku: I pity south africans alot, apartheid is not yet over, it was only modified...The whites in SA still treat the blacks SA as dogs(sorry for using that) they push them to commit xenophobia attacks on other blacks and still kill them like dogs, just like those protesting miners the police slaughtered....soforget about those people, they are on their own.
This wave of xenophobia was triggered by the Zulu king telling his people to push foreigners out of the country.
lezz: Some months back a South African lady was caught with drugs in Italy and she confessed being sent by a Nigerian domicile in South Africa. Some few days back in Nigeria, a South African lady was also caught with hard foreign currency which is obviously drug money. She also confessed running errands for a Nigerian in South Africa.
You see one beating there, two shootings here pales in insignificance to the damage a few Nigerian drug lord has done to your Young men and women . It's like injecting an already sleeping patient with sleeping medication: they make you lazy and more redundant in addition to your inherent docility.
I will advise an end to the hostility of the few Nigerian drug lords and pîmps, it only endears your big butty women more to them.
Take a cue from the many business, professional and entrepreneurial Nigerians abound in your country.
So you confirm that criminality is inherent in Nigerians?
Dont worry, the Kwere Kwere will soon be purged from our lands.
Henry120: They have ruthlessly messed up the enemy in konduga FOB. It means clearly that their tactics are flawless. no baseline change is required, only improvements done. They have dealt with the enemy on 13 different occasions.
The MG nest is protected with Sandbags.
They have, Igirigi, CS/VP3 MRAPs, IFV's, T-72's and T-55's tanks. They got bofors, D-30's, 105's. They got drones, attack Helicopers and Surveillance assets to call in. Of course, loads and loads of Ammo.
The Ammo isn't a disaster waiting to happen, it is well protected. After 13 different attacks, the enemy attacking with AA mounted on gun-trucks, RPG's, MG's and tanks.
Konduga FOB has proven to be one of the worlds most well defended FOB, and an ideal research topic.
Well done - you defended against some rebels with technicals
how will that base stop a regular army? those trenches arent deep enough to provide protection against 105mm mortars - same with that bunker.
Supply shortages in your army is well documented, as is your lack of support
A section of motorized SANDF infantry would over-run it in an hour or so
This video completely lays to waste the spurious allegations/ and multiple lies been peddled by Aljazeera, CNN, BBC et al, of Nigerian troops been under-equipped / under-resourced .
If the SANDF was a proper military that can afford aviation fuel/ tents, make sound strategic or tactical decisions or even shoot properly, then we would have been able to talk.
1.22 000 hours of aviation fuel 2.Tents have been dispatched 3.Wtf are you talking about? 4.Thats the germans
Henry120: The trenches are primarily a defensive position to provide troops defending the FOB with cover. There is also no proof that these are the forward trenches. I mean, it's right in-front of the commanders office.
They expressly said it was the frontline.
That was not the commander - it was the intelligence officer.
Henry120: Above all, with 1300 enemy forces killed in Konduga FOB in a 3 consecutive attacks november of 2014, and 13 attacks in total, their tactics have proven to be flawless and impeccable.
Well done - you killed an unconfirmed number of peasants whilst in a fortified position and with air and arty support.
What do you want? A cookie?
Henry120: Ammo, Ammo isn't stored outside. It's common sense actually, they are most likely recently delivered rounds, which would in-turn be sent inside for storage.
Seeing that the documentary was made at the heat of the offensive, those Ammo are meant for re-supply to friendly forces during operations.
Nope- they said that the one bloke sleeps amongst them.
Meaning those ammo cases had been left out in the open for days.
Henry120: The FOB is an abandoned secondary school in the middle of nowhere. Most schools in Africa don't come with bunkers like you have in israel.
Dig them you chucklefuck - soldiers have been digging bunkers for 1000 years.
Henry120: Troops in their FOB can dress how they like. I've seen british forces engage the enemy in only underpants. Only Private friday has has a desert camo T-shirt, the others are all in woodland camo.
Pic related - over 8 types of cammo worn.
Brits all manage to wear the same unfiorme - unlike you lot
Henry120: He has his AK-74M by his side at all times, same as his colleagues.
Perfect video, there is always room for improvements
Henry120: I understand that your perceived knowledge of the military is drawn primarily from the parade ground and from exhibitions, but........... You are as ignorant as they come. You have no idea how actual fighting is done.
Let me assist you, go to youtube, watch/download the following.
1)Royal marine commandos: mission Afganistan episode 1-6 2)Into the Hornets nest, 3)Never ending war, Afghanistan.
What exactly are you alluding to?
I have seen no 1.
Have you seen Armadillo? The Battle for Marja? Restrepo? Is this what winning looks like?
Vice in Syria? "War leaks" footage from Syria/Iraq/Ukraine?
EVarn: Perhaps the trenches were a little too elevated, narrow and linear given the environment, generally,i'll admit that the trenches were a little hastily dug by less experienced personnels{perhaps CJTF men}. As for ammo storage,i see nothing wrong with the way ammo are stored or even the mg-nest for that matter, the location of that garrison is near he frontline, therefore you cannot expect to see the level of organisation that would be normally present in a barrack or base, ammunitions are regularly evacuated as many times as they are stored.
Vice said that those men had been holding the town "since the war began" so those positions have been there for years now. They should be extremely sophisticated by now.
The MG nest being elevated makes it a nice target for recoiless grenades and easy suppression.
Ammo is a disaster waiting to happen - a stray mortar or tracer round could set it off, and a couple tonnes of explosives going off in the middle of your base during an attack is not something you want to happen. Ideally the majority would be distrubited along hard points in the trenches (so you dont have to run off to get more in battle) and the rest would be stored in a number of heavily dug in bunkers strategically located around the base.
EVarn: What is peasantly about them?,surely you can see that those guys in the pictures were not in a combat atmosphere.moreover, some of the guys in the background belong to the Civilian Joint Task Force, and are simply assisting the military in keeping stock of ammunitions and other miscellanous materials.
Look - I know its the frontline and so its not going to look like a barracks right before inspection.
Hell, i could even ignore the miss-matched uniforms. But cummon, some of the basics - that trench system gave me cancer. That ammo storage.... that sh1tty mg-nest
lezz: hmm, patches is hurting and trolling again. Alright let's break it down.
Since we are Africa's best I demand respect and decorum when you talk to me. Where is your sense of hierarchical standing?
And if I hear you talk about infrastruction again, I'm going to strength forth my hand a cross this platform and give you a sound non-e-slap for your stupidity.
I dont show respect to common laborers. When Nigerians come to South Africa they get respect from the SAPS bullet that ends them or the panga that cleaves their empty head from their body.
Here is one of your brethren... stripped naked and beaten
lezz: hmm, patches is hurting and trolling again. Alright let's break it down.
Nigerian you say are known for drugs and prostitution, nope son, we are known as the most educated people America and the richest black people on earth. But you might be slightly correct on the drug side as we have turned many of your fruitless and lazy blacks into junkies and your women in couriers and love-vendor-princesses.
Since we are Africa's best I demand respect and decorum when you talk to me. Where is your sense of hierarchical standing?
And if I hear you talk about infrastruction again, I'm going to strength forth my hand a cross this platform and give you a sound non-e-slap for your stupidity.
South Africa was developing as a European extension for over 300 years by the Dutch and British as home away from home when your forebears were building Zulu bush hut and loving in caves.
Nigeria started off building by 1960 and have done a wonderful job. We are your superiors patches. You don't believe me? Then why have you been a nairaland e-squatter for years now?
Nigerians come into South Africa to fill in jobs your lazy, illiterate population has no idea what to do about. Not only Nigerians but Ghanaians, Zimbabweans etc. You guys are lazy, unresourceful and unproductive.
There are lots of Chinese, Indian and Koreans in Nigeria despite their economic size.
Your firms are giving their right arm to come into Nigeria where there are no ANC government to mandate them to give their hard earned money to lazy quacks like you and your lazy folks.
I repeat if not for the anglo-Dutch, Nigeria will enslave you even in the 21st century.
incompetent savages.
I forgot.....do your HIV ridden population still räpë children in the savage belief it cures them of their curse?
Peasants dont get respect
Now, why dont you back up some claims with citations.
Our firms are COLONISING you, not moving to you. Just look at which stock exchange they are listed on - yours or ours?
Infastrcture? You have none.
And FYI - half white half black. So, half of me is what enslaved your ass with such ease, the other half of me is from the only peoples in all of Africa to resist british invasion and actually defeat them in an open set-peice battle.
