Digriz:If, on account of what the OP has written you reckoned he is a big i.d.i.o.t, then, YOU'RE THE BIGGEST I.D.I.O.T. Why not dispute his claim if you can. Otherwise, simply walk away from the thread. After all, the pope is the Antichrist ![]() |
ABSOLUTE DELUSION |
IT'S A PITY THAT ON NAIRALAND THEMES REQUIRING INTELLECTUAL DEBATES/CONVERSATIONS ARE SIMPLY DERAILED BY BIBLE AND QURANIC TOUTING ZEALOTS. I WONDER HOW MANY OF THESE PEOPLE WOULD PASS GCSE RELIGIOUS STUDIES BECAUSE THEY'LL SIMPLY BE PREACHING RATHER THAN CRITICALLY ASSESS RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND DOGMAS. MAY BE WE SHOULD HAVE A FORUM CALLED INTELLECTUAL DISCOURSES ON NAIRALAND. I'M, HOWEVER, KEEN TO HEAR FROM PSYCHOLOGISTS ON THIS INTERESTING TOPIC. |
ONE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT A DEATH CERTIFICATE OUGHT TO HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY A MEDICAL DOCTOR UPON MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS, CERTIFYING THE INDIVIDUAL DEAD, BEFORE OFFICIALS IN THE MORGUE WOULD ACCEPT TO DEPOSIT THE BODY. IF THIS HAPPENED IN SOUTH AFRICA WHO KNOWS HOW MANY WOULD HAVE ENDED UP BEING BURIED IN NIGERIA! |
IT'S A PITY NIGERIA HAS NO MENTAL ASSYLUM. THAT'S WHERE SWEETNECTA PROPERLY BELONGS, HONESTLY! YOU'RE HERE ONLY TO DERAIL THIS DISCOURSE BECOS YOU'RE, PRESUMABLY, MENTALLY DERAILED |
@ yommyuk. What might 'the human universal moral code of Good and bad' entails? Just curious! |
Sweetnecta:APPARENTLY YOU LACK THE DECORUM AND CIVILITY TO ENGAGE WITH OTHERS. MAY I THEREFORE ASK THAT YOU EXCUSE US ON THIS THREAD TO ALLOW OTHERS INTELLECTUALLY ENGAGE WITH THE ISSUE AT HAND. THANKS. PATSEY |
THIS IS THE ANTICHRIST PROJECT. RUN B4 YOUR GET THE 666 MARK ![]() |
Hi Claremont! Yes, I belong to the school of philosophy which maintains that morality is logically independent of religion(s). In deed, anthropological studies have shown that there are traditional or indigenous cultural systems around the world where morality has nothing to do with religion. There seem to be a tendency that when discussing morality or immorality people often, wittingly or unwittingly, take the discourse into the domain of religion and culture as you've done, maintaining that '[o]ur morality or lack of it is gained from our cultural orientation, religion has no role to play whatsoever in it'. Sweetnecta's crude analysis, contrasting Islamic and African indigenous cultural systems and ostensibly derailing this discourse (a matter for another time) also highlights the tripartite nature of (im)morality, religion and culture. Arguably, there are more immoral precepts in the Holy Books (e.g. Bible and Quaran) than many of us are willing and ready to admit (https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-698508.0.html). Historical peep into the distant past (including contemporary history) shows that religions (except Buddhism), the world over, have been responsible for heinous immoral acts/crimes (Christians' trans-Atlantic slavery and Muslims' trans-sahara slave trade), 9/11, 2005 London Bombing, etc. This raises the question of whether or not cultures exist anywhere in the world which is logically independent of religion. I'm, in deed, inclined to subscribe to Durkheim's assertion that religion and culture are inextricably intertwined. The problem is if, as Claremont puts it, (im)morality hinges upon cultural orientations, how do we resolve the fact that "culture and religions", as Durkheim contends, "are inextricably linked"? |
FAST = SELF-PUNISHMENT. DISCUSS |
Typically you can chat up a British girl, for example, in the Pub on a Friday or Saturday night and only a few hours later end up in bed with her for an all night show -- by the way for free. If you encounter any such girl in a Nigerian night club scenre, then she's a professional pro.os.ti.tu.te, and it's not gonna be free. Also, polygamy is permissible in different African cultures and societies. In Western societies and cultures, it is called bigamy and punishable under the law. Further, Indian-Pakistani-Bangladeshi folks marry very close relations (e.g. first cousins), in Nigeria, for example, that's an abomination. On account of these, and several other examples, can we reasonably and safely say morality is relative? |
OPONU ALAINIKANSE. GO AND FIND SOMETHING MEANINGFUL TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE. YOU PICK AND CHOOSE BIBLE PASSAGES AT RANDOM. DO YOU KNOW THAT DECEPTION WAS USED THROUGHOUT THE PENTATEUCH TO ADVANCE, THOUGH NOT EXCLUSIVELY, GOD'S PURPOSES? |
Sweetnecta:YOU KNOW WHAT? YOU NEED TO SUCCESSFULLY TAKE AND PASS UNDERGRADUATE LEVEL 1 PHILOSOPHY IN LOGIC BEFORE I CAN CONTINUE WITH YOU. OTHERWISE, GET AN ELEMENTARY TEXT IN LOGIC OR PHILOSOPHY AND READ UP ABOUT FALSIFIABILITY AND UNFALSIFIABILITY. YOU CLEARLY CAN'T GRASP WHAT'S GOING ON HERE. GOOD BYE! |
HAHAHAHA, ANY PSYCHOLOGIST OF RELIGION IN THE HOUSE? O WELL, I THINK IT'S BECAUSE THEY'RE SUSCEPTIBLE TO CONDITIONING. |
mabell:THE PREMISE - A RELIGIOUS TEXT - FROM WHICH YOUR ARGUMENT PROCEEDS, ARGUABLY, IS IRRATIONAL. THE SUBSTANCE OF YOUR ARGUMENT IS, THEREFORE, FUNDAMENTALLY FLAWED AND UNSUSTAINABLE. ITS LOGICAL IMPLAUSIBILITY MAKES FUTILE THE NEED TO PROCEED TO CONSIDER IF IT HAS ANY MEAT. |
THE EVIL THAT MEN & WOMEN DO LIVES AFTER THEM! WHEN YOU DIE, YOU DIE. |

KunleOshob:WELL SAID. NOW THESE ZEALOTS AREN'T HAPPY WITH THE REFERENCE TO LUKE 7 :33-34 |
@Sweetnecta, Religious beliefs, dogmas and doctrines are, quintessentially, unfalsifiable propositions. To teach unfalsifiable propositions is to indoctrinate, to indoctrinate is immoral and immorality tantamount to aberation. May I, therefore, suggest that you and your indoctrinated cohorts not only stop floating unfalsifiable propositions on this forum, but also desist from insulting our rational autonomy. |

YOU GUYS SHOULD GO AND FIND SOMETHING LEGITIMATE TO DO AND STOP DECIEVING PEOPLE. GOD HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ALL YOU'RE DOING IN THAT SATANIC AND UNGODLY BUSINESS CALLED MINISTRY. |
DON'T YOU HAVE A PhD IN DEMONOLOGY. I COULD HAVE CONSIDERED THAT EXCEPT THAT I THINK YOURS MUST BE A DIPLOMA MILL. |
