Xetima:

OP, Thank you my brother. Just to chip in that Canada's Senator Mike Duffy (Conservative Senator) has been under investigation, even under Harper' Conservative government. Nigel S. Wright, a Canadian and lawyer who served as the thirteenth Chief of Staff of the Office of the Prime Minister Harper of Canada is also being investigated. The truth is that those two were NEVER shielded by Harper government even when they belong to the same party. Now your two Councillors are being investigated for their malfeasance and not because they are Liberal, NDP, Green Party nor Conservatives.

After the Toronto mayoral elections, Mayor John Tory, Olivia Chow and Doug Ford, the three main contenders published their campaign expenses for the review of the relevant authorities. Again, just recently Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party have said they were going to publish their election expenditures. This is a party that just came to office last month. That includes telling Canadians the sources of their campaign funding and how the monies was spent. It is a norm in Canada.

Op, in seeking equity, you must come with CLEAN HANDS just like The Harpers, The Torys, The Fords and The Trudeaus do in Canada. As you renounce your Canadian citizenship and return to Nigeria (I guess you are a Nigerian based on your name), please, impress on your leaders (Buhari and APC) not to hide thieves (like Amaechi, Tinubu, Fashola, El-Rufai, Sanusi, Obasanjo, Atiku, Saraki, etc) and only focus on the opposition (PDP members only). For the avoidance of any doubts, if all the PDP members were thieves for the 16 years the patry was in power, what makes you think that Amaechi who was PDP Speaker/Governor/etc for 14 years of 16 is now a saint? Or how would you exonerate OBJ (President for 8years of 16 years PDP reign as well as Atiku)?

OP, if a group of theives were caught by the Ploce in Nigeria and they confessed to have been stealing for 16 years, would it be right to chose to investigate them for just 6 out of 16 years? Which is higher, 6 or 10 of 16? Again, OP I know you have left Nigeria for over 20 years as you noted. Just to let you know that since the time of Shagari in 1979, no government (Federal, State or Local Council) have ever accounted for "Security Votes". Therefore, it would be nice to "look" into Security votes of the Federal and states in the last 16 years at least. Or what do you think

OP, if you find out in your most inner conscience that you cannot impress on your President to do just as they do in Canada, then just know that you are just another RANTING RED-NOSED HYPOCRITE!!!

You are so spot on my Brother ! Just wondering why it is so hard for our leaders to take a cue from progressive countries such as Canada?

I just read this Piece (From Sahara Reporters) thought i should share. Please leave your comments on this write up. Enjoy...

I am a citizen of Canada.

I came to Canada in 1998.

I have been living in Ottawa since 2006.

Ottawa is where I pay my taxes.

I am uncomfortable in my skin because a lot has been happening here in Ottawa lately that do not reflect my values. I am always feeling like a fish unaccepted by the water it calls home.

Take the recent case that has seen two Ottawa City Councillors get into trouble. It all has to do with what the two politicians are calling “election expense gaffes” and “clerical errors”. But the public prosecutor and the tax payers think that what happened may be more than expense gaffes and clerical errors.

Here are the broad outlines of the story. In retiring his expense account for the 2010 election, one of the two Councillors reported that he had no election deficit whereas he was $5, 121 in the red. In other words, he had overspent on election by about six thousand dollars and was trying to cover it up (or failed to report that deficit due to “clerical errors” as he claims). The other Councillor in trouble has a slightly different story. Someone on his campaign team failed to report a $100 nomination fee refund as income and his campaign team as whole misreported a $1,754 bookkeeping fee.

The newspapers are reporting that the electoral officer of Elections Canada – the body in charge of elections in this country – must decide whether to accept the explanations of these Councillors that they made an honest mistake or whether to prosecute them for fraud and corruption. Because we are dealing with tax payer dollars and tax payers tend not to joke with how public officers spend their money in this country, the Councillors will in all likelihood be prosecuted.

And this is why I have nearly reached the conclusion that Canada is not the place for me. This is why I am seriously considering renouncing my citizenship. My values are at odds with the values of this country. I feel very embarrassed that the capital city of a major Western country is disturbing the peace of the rest of the world for corruption figures of less than ten thousand dollars. One of the Councillors even has somebody on his team being investigated for one hundred dollars!

These are not my values. When I say I care about my tax dollars, I mean that only “clerical errors” or “election expense gaffes” of half a billion dollars and above should cause concern and be investigated. If Canada is not prepared to embrace my values and improve on her standards of what constitutes corruption that should reasonably elicit outrage, I don’t see what I am doing here. It is a violation of my right to sleep and peace to be disturbed whenever a politician cannot account for one hundred dollars.

After nearly two decades in this country, another thing I still don’t understand is why politicians must retire campaign expense funds after an election. Retirement of campaign funds means that a thorough independent audit of campaign expenditure must be undertaken. How much did a campaign raise? How was it raised? How was it spent? Were campaign finance laws adhered to? What is the account balance of the campaign? People here treat campaign expense audits as a right. They even act like they have the right to know. That, also, is contrary to my values. I don’t think I can ever get used to it. It is better to renounce my citizenship than being made to feel that anybody owes me any explanations as to how they raised and spent their campaign funds.

I also do not like the fact that everybody is treating the investigation of the two Ottawa Councillors as a straightforward case of institutions and process. Nobody has risen up to defend them in public. Nobody has carried posters to support them. Nobody has threatened Elections Canada with doomsday scenarios should the two Councillors be prosecuted for corruption. What if they are being witch hunted because they do not belong to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s political party? Would they have been investigated at all if they had donated the disputed funds to Prime Minister Trudeau’s campaign? Are the two Councillors Christians? Are they Muslims? What is their ethnicity? Are they the only ones who have had “clerical errors” and “election expense gaffes” in the political history of Canada? Why single them out for persecution? Why now? Why not extend the investigation of financial wrongdoing to the formation of the Federal Dominion of Canada on July 1, 1867? Is that not the only way to ensure impartiality?

These are the kinds of questions that inform my world and my values. By not asking these kinds of questions, Canadians are being hostile to me. They are telling me that my values don’t count. They are rejecting who I am. I need to move to a country where I’d feel at home. Can you suggest a country where my values would not make me a minority?

What of my current job? What date should be at the "end date"? Should it be the date I filled the form?

One the form you scanned above and showed on your previous post i replied to you fill all you experience you have within the last 10 years into the space including your current job and their duration as requested. The Visa Officer knows that your current experience will be the last chronologically. Even if it it takes more than a year or even two for you visa to be approved your experience will be added updated as the years increase even if you have lost or left the last job you are working now. So yes you fill the date you filled the form or when you signed the forms

Hello Solomonwis, an example is shown in this pix. Is it right to enter "till date" if that's my current job?

Secondly, can the document notarization be done by any court?

You dont put till date on that form bro you just fill out the durations you have worked for. They are other documents like the Reference letter from you employer that should feature your are still working till date with them while the others previous employments shows you are no longer working there.

Yes i guess you are correct because when i applied then in 2010,i wrote a written submission as regards my proficiency in english language and french but in 2012 when my visa started being processed i was sent an email to submit my IELTS result sheet by writing the test, which i had to do urgently in order to submit.

Bwave: @Solomonwis,pauloman et al, Is it advisable to get the bank statement now?or do I hav to wait till am sending the completed application. FYI, I will be doing the IELTS test on june 8 & my transcript is being processed,am targeting the ending of june to complete my application, so am trying to see how I can fast track the process. Thanks!

I concur with Lady Guinivere on her statement. Usually the last thing you do is arranging your bank account statement when packaging an application to the embassy to reflect an upto date account situation when your application gets to the embassy. All what you need do is just build up the account cash flow and final account balance to what you need it to be and reflect finally.

NB: For all those sending bank account statements. Please be sure to tell your bank manager or bank to write a letter of reference explaining to the embassy that you are a well know customer to the bank and he has to state all the types of bank accounts you operate in the bank. This might save you alot of hassles when a confirmatory bank statement is requested from you when your visa is about to be issued to you.

LadyGuinivere: A few tips for those getting their documents verified with WES
(From my experience o!)

1.Have ur school send the transcript straight to WES. Don't use the one you have in ur possession. Save urself the time of being bounced. Speed is key right now.

2.If the option for faster (and more expensive) verification is available, for the Love of Moses, use it. This ensures WES will send ur reconfirmation with courier. One of my decrees was sent with NIPOST and got to my school exactly a month and two days after.(By dat time I don pull out all my hair)

3. Don't bother calling WES on the phone. I wasted a pretty penny while on hold and never spoke with an operator.

4. On the alternative, if there is a real delay with the process or u need to make enquires, send an email with ur ref no. When/if they don't reply (believe me, they won't)continue resending until somebdy vex reply u.

5. Please don't get it twisted. The process is not a well oil machine, where u sit and twiddle ur fingers xpecting ur school to receive, treat and return to WES. Get a nos of somebody in exams and records to follow up. Despite the fact that my university verification was sent via email, it took my pestering of 15 days for them to locate mine from the maze of unanswered mails.

6. Finally do not forget to hand it over to the main Oga at d top. Only He can make sure there are no knicks or bottlenecks in the whole process

Nice info...this should help a lot but you still didnt answer my question above lol

Dont be fooled bro by all the informations on CIC u can file your application yourself and many others can do same without paying no agents. All it takes is to read carefully and follow instructions to the latter. Well the immigration exercise is not meant for all and sundry but a selected best and brightest minds that can discern things pretty fast and thats the slogan of the CIC minister.

I did all the filing myself and i am not bragging about this so whom ever is serious about it can achieve the same feat especially with help from this wonderful thread opened bu Solomonwise. Of course singles can apply and be positively considered. The additional points married people have is the 5 points secured with the English language test of the spouse and/or the Canadian qualifications the spouse have, outside of this there's nothing more.
Bro that 5points means alot and the only way the points could favor a single applicant is if they have more years of experience or much higher qualifications like 2 seperate degrees or masters/phd the former favoured me though

To your clarification on Mercy sending a fixed/Time Deposit Statement. Yes absolutely ! Every applicant is allowed to send either of the three methods of showing proof of funds and it could be one or a combination of two or even three of the methods as the case may be because it has been instructed and stated so on the document checklist and all applicants need to go as instructed. So later on when CIC has done their verification and visa is set to be approved after your application has been assessed and deemed passed based on the point system. The embassy will now do another verification for whether you have a possess enough adequate funds. It is at this point you will be asked to send a 12 month bank statement. At this point you ought to send a bank statement within the past 12 months from the day you decide to send the bank statements 12 months back. If you scale through the settlement funds.

The applicant will now be assessed on Admissibility, which is on health or medical grounds and criminality background and security checks. This is when they issue you your medical instructions and mandate you to submit a fresh police character certificate.

After you are successful with all these your visa and PR will be issued to you asap !

NB: They key to success with any embassy most especially the Canadian Embassy is strict adherance to stated instructions or informations already laid down

Sir,did you just say she doesn't need to send an account statement now?

Yes bro...she really does not have to send an account statement. On the document checklist there are 3 alternative means of showing proof of funds to the visa officer when sending to CIO in Nova Scotia.

1. Savings account statement
2. Current account statement
3. Time or fixed deposit certificate

Anything beyond these three means are not acceptable. I sent a time deposit statement of one million when i applied and a savings account statement of about 700k then. But you can send any one of the above as proof of settlement funds

Lol you only just submitted and you are complaining of waiting? My advice is for you to completely get your mind off it and see the whole exercise as an investment you have made for your future and pray it yields fruits at the end. You are quite lucky CIC is vouching it would take less than a year to process each application but to me i feel its just paper speculations and it might take a lil more than a year because of the other backlogs still in process and i feel it will take up to 2 fiscal years before they can achieve the proposed less than a year processing time. But be it as it may you can use the below link to track the cap update for each occupation on the list. Cheers !

mercylicious: @Pauloman, long time.
Nice to see ur posts here.
My course is there- (B.Eng electronic and computer eng) but unfortunately, am recuperating frm previous failures. Am having thinking of applying for this, bt I feel time is of essense here cos 300 is too small for each category.
Another major point am considering is funds. All my money is in investments and no cash in my acnt. How long do u think I need to leave d money in my acnt b4 applying. Do u think showing them my share acnt statement and cscs statement will suffice for proof of funds?

Another questn is, since we are sending them assesment frm wes( assesment body), is it still required to send transcript again?

Oh Mercylicious ! Good to hear from you ! Am i glad your profession is there? I sure am very elated about it ! Yes ! So one hurdle scaled already and sorry about your present condition.

Yes you sure can apply with the computer engineering NOC category but make sure your work duties are in tandem with that of the NOC stated work duties or which ever you choose to apply with.

This is your time Mercy ! Dont waste it and act fast !! Forget about those failed visa attempts, once your profession is on the eligible list of occupations you are almost secured of getting your PR as long as you package your documents well and follow instructions to the core. Please start gathering your documents and put your mind for next immigration fiscal year to submit because those that will make the 300 cap for this year are those that have started gathering and preparing to submit from last year. Its a pretty fierce battle now i must confess.

On your account stuff: You really dont need to send an account statement for now. You can liquidate some of your investement and fix it in a time deposit and then send them a copy of your time deposit certificate as proof of funds. If you are applying as single then 1.8million naira will do just fine. After a while you can build your account in preparation for when a one year account statement will be requested from you for the embassy to be sure that you are very well prepared for your trip to canada. This means that your visa is about to be issued. Then you present an account statement with good cash flow and a final balance above or exactly the 1.8million naira.

Yes you will need to send them a copy of your transcripts because its on the document checklist

So dont dull...step on it and move ! All the best dear !!

There is NEED for notarization but not a MUST.

You can choose to notarize if you've got the money. Until you are asked to do so it is ABSOLUTELY unnecessary!

You must understand the reasoning behind Educational Credentials Assessment{ECA} is not just to know if your qualification is equivalent to a Canadian qualification but also to verify the authenticity of such documents. Hence the need for your educational institutions to send credentials directly to the assessing authorities.(I'm sure at your time, there was nothing like ECA}.

The argument therefore is whether it is a MUST or not.

Until you are told to send originals{which I doubt} or notarized copies of your credentials,it is absolutely unnecessary. Your application will not be rejected simply because your credentials were not notarized!
Please guide yourself with the checklist.

True ! But when applying to the embassy it is always good to play on the safe side. Besides when we talk about notarization of documents it encompasses educational documents like transcripts and degree certificates, secondary school credentials, travel documents like photocopy of your data page and your work documents like photocopy of your employment letter even though they might ask you to send originals later from the embassy. Remember the ECA only covers post secondary credentials.

I was never asked to come for an interview because i believe my packaged documents showed a great deal about my person and credentials. Even when i was sent a mail to submit my original employment letters to the embassy after submitting notarized photocopies which i eventually did not send. They let it slide ,perhaps because they have a duly notarized copy of the originals already

I am sorry but you can not immigrate to canada through the fswp . There is another category of visa to canada that accomodates people who are self employed like farmers and those who got skills in culturally and talent based professions like the arts; music, sports, film production, graphic artist just to mention a few. I believe you a apt to apply through this category called the self employed class. Will post the link later.
