CareerRe: What Are The Realities Of Living Abroad Today? by pauloman(m): 11:46pm On Jul 06, 2012
Krucifax: At poster,it's tough everywhere and what you need to know is that job scarcity and subsequent difficulty in securing the available ones is a global phenomena. The only countries that "seem" to be bucking the trend are 1.Australia 2.Canada 3.New Zealand 4.Finland 5.Germany(a bit).

Having said all of that there are still jobs out there. Without being insensitive to your plight your post smacks of a bit of inexperience.
Let me explain,in today's world a first degree ain't exactly considered a "qualification" unless you read things like Medicine,Dentistry,Engineering etc etc.
A Business Management degree(1st degree not masters)on it's own is no qualification my friend! Look at it from the employers point of view. Okay you've studied management principles buthave no experience so what relevant knowledge do you have of the particular field/industry you wish to enter? This is the basis on which you will be employed to ply your management skills.
To make yourself marketable you need to add an industry relevant professional qualification.Examples are Accountancy(CIMA, etc), Finance (Compliance,Prince2 etc),Construction (Prince2 etc),Hospitality(Hotelier quals etc)the list goes on and on and on my friend.

One final addition a good exercise would be for you to google recruitment consultant in fields you are interested in and ask them about entry requirements. You'll soon come to realize that a masters degree at entry level is pretty irrelevant for most careers. But if you can afford it then knock yourself out as it will come in handy in a couple of years time.Good luck matey. wink
In addendum to what you have right pointed out above...Professional skills and disciplines are what are marketable these days in the global labour market. So even if you studied Business management or any other unprofessional discipline ,it is highly imperative you add a professional touch to it to make yourself sellable to propestive employers.
NYSCRe: NYSC Posting: FG Insists On North Deployment by pauloman(m): 11:11pm On Jul 06, 2012
United State government warned its citizens about safety in Nigeria.
Nigerian government because of corruption, mediocrity and stupidity insist that youths should be there. I did my NYSC in Kano 2004 and I always slept with an eye open. As a matter of fact, one day on my way to church, I boarded a commercial bus to kano metropolis and put on my NYSC cap. Then one Mallam in the bus looked @ me and put his finger in my eyes. I was shocked, I did not say a word and just prayed to get to my destination safely. So many corpers have been killed in the North. What is wrong with this government. What stupid NYSC certificate. A country that is so porous. Are the people making these decisions aliens? Parents and youths should protest against this decision. If a corper is killed, all you would hear is Allah Kiaye. God gives and takes. [/quote

I hope the so called GEJ supporters are seeing the kind of inhuman and senseless decision their beloved and dear president has made now ! How can a number citizen of the country be sending the our poor corpers to a lion's den and promising them security when he runs away from threats from the so called Boko haram.

At least we can all read what has been said from the post title and this decision is clearly from GEJ's mouth since he is the one chairing that FEC meeting.

I can only but draw the conclusion that the president is clearly insane and very callous for taking such a decision !
HealthRe: When Last Did You Go For HIV Test? by pauloman(m): 5:43pm On Jul 06, 2012
Biyi1471: I am a young man. No sir... Compulsory HIV tests were void for visa purposes. The USA is in the forefront of campaigning against stigmatization and compulsory disclosure of HIV status. Be rest assured an HIV test is NOT mandatory for travel purpose.
For USA i am very sure of that but what of Canada and the UK are they also voiding the disclosure of HIV status during medical examinations too?
Like I said, anything less than a master degree is a joke. Even if it gets you somewhere, it won't get you far.
Well naturally every right thinking person should be progressive career-wise and not just feel comfortable in what he or she has educationally to take him far in life because the world is dynamic !

Olodostein: Bros, abeg take am easy with that nincompoop Aka Ileke Idi.

Besides, where were the OP, when others were busy studying engineering and science related courses?

How will someone travel that far say na "business management" him/her want go study. When Asians are into hard sciences/engineering and transfering technology back to their country.
The pure truth is that for an immigrant to sell him/her self in the western world they need that scientific edge in their educational background because thats basically the base of real prospering nation is suppose to or should be built on.

But in Nigeria the Government makes a mess by not creating an enabling environment for science and technology to thrive and u see even graduates that studied such scientific oriented courses abandoning it to work in the bank.

So My dear better go into a scientific field like nursing that is widely needed and perhaps ur management background can make u a better manager in ur nursing field. Cheers !
HealthRe: When Last Did You Go For HIV Test? by pauloman(m): 1:48pm On Jul 06, 2012
Biyi1471: HIV test is not supposed to be done without your consent. The medical examination may not include HIV test because if it did and your consent was not taken, the result turned out +ve and you were refused employment based on HIV result you could actually sue the company.
Well sir, the medical examination was not for employment but for the embassy for travel purpose. So i believe an HIV test is deemed to be inclusive among the many medical tests that were conducted, right ? Sorry are u male or female?

I have actually done it thrice now and the first two i knew was negative, the last being 2weeks ago when i was asked to do a full medical examination by an Organisation. Although i was not shown the report of the medical examination but i was told i that i do not have any medical abnormality....could that also mean a negative status for the HIV test too ?
As of July 1, 2012, CIC has temporarily stopped accepting applications for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). This temporary pause does not apply to those with a qualifying job offer or applying under the PhD stream. We will likely start accepting applications again when the revised FSWP selection criteria take effect.
Have u already applied or interested in applying? Trust me if u are a professional with good amount of years of work experience, there is no better time to appy than the due date mentioned. If ur interested i will give u all the details

When i went for my medicals last 2wks i met a trv hopeful who also came for his medicals the same day with me and we got chatting. He told me he applied to a school in New brunsweek to study immunology as he is a medical doctor. His sponsor was his uncle and he applied only 3weeks ago frm dat day he came for medicals. He even said the embassy called him that the money in his uncle's account is not enough and it was sorted out eventually...It was a long story as he told me but ascribed his early medical call up to God. So prayer is key !

With ur sighting of madam Okonjo Iweala specifically, tell me where her advice to GEJ led the masses to? Well i know specifically where it has led to if u dont...does the aftermath of the fuel subsidy removal saga in january eluded ur mind so fast? Ask people around u what the aftermath of that saga brought on the poor masses on the streets? I rest my case !

For those who support this invasion by a ghanian, it will not be well with you all.
How pathetic of u to make such statement ! Its people like u that surround GEJ and are such sycophants and never let him no the objective truth from the people that voted him out there in the streets ,hence making him to wallow in his Cluelessness !!!

Defend what?! A failed system and state? Truth is bitter but has to be said ! Thank God the professor is a foreigner and not a Nigerian and ontop of that he does not even live in Ghana but in the western world and has earned his name in the international community as an renowned " African Reformist ". So his views and opinions are on the more objective side.

What does he think about the repatriation of Nigerian business men who have helped build Ghana? Is the president of Ghana not insane? Is the president of Ghana not a lunatic?
Go and do ur research well about the repatriation issue of Nigerians before making an ill judgement of the situation . FYI the Ghanian government are only trying to protect their citizens and implement their internal and indigenous policies which states that local trading is only meant for their citizens and not foreigners and as such a monetary benchmark was set for foreign traders there to pay before they can be allowed to continue their business there which Nigerians are flaunting. So what do u expect?

rhamzus: Morning,
I applied for skilled worker few months back, which i didnt meet the cut-off mark. During this period i was issued an UCI no. I just got an admission into Fanshawe college. In the process of filling the Study permit form, there is a space for UCI number, do i put the UCI given during my skilled worker application or i leave it blank?
The other issue is while trying to put the UCI numbr on the form, it culd only accept 7 digits, when i have 8 digits issued to me during Skilled worker appl.
Do i need to goto DHL to give me a return address envelop or i personally have to put an envelop with my address on it.
My bro, skilled workers visa and study permit visa are two different types of visa and have no correllation when being processed in the embassy. So you should not use a detail given to u during the time u filed for a skilled worker visa which didnt work out wit that of a student permit visa. It does not really make sense to me doing that IMHO !

Henrychris: @pauloman thanks for the reply I appreciate.my 1st question is actually on the federal skilled workers program and which city in Canada would u advise a 1st timer to relocate to interms of job opportunities, low expenses, socials and religiously.thanks bro
To some extent ur relocation and the city or province or territory u intend to be has some bearing on ur profession . Reason being that some provinces like Alberta where u have mining and exploration work there ,they would naturally be need for professionals like geologist n mining engineers in that province. But there are statistics already prepared by the government where u can get firsthand comparative analysis of what you are asking of from one province to another as job opportunities and labour market conditions are different in each region of canada. Go to the same website www.cic.gc.ca and search out "Working in Canada tool " it will give u all the information u need and related links that u would find very informative. Cheers !

There are many ways u can immigrate to canada tru PRV. They are as follows 1. Thru federal skilled workers program . 2. Thru provincial nominee program . 3. Thru investor program . 4. Thru doctoral studentship or phd program. 5. Thru studentship that give u a TRV which leads u to get a PRV.

Medical examination is normally done when the embassy as cleared ur visa file based on some requirements based on the type of visa program u applied with and u are to be assessed on ur medical admissibilty b4 u enta canada. An instruction is sent to u by the embassy to go for medical examination, which all immigrants and certain visitors must pass and the medical report is valid for 1year.
