effizypo: Pauloman thanks. Honestly I have had this FSWP thing at the back of my mind all the while. Understand its suspended for now. Please let me have your email, I will be considering it for 2013.My email addy is ufeli_ocp@yahoo.com. Expecting your mail |
My brother I couldn't even remember my password to Nairaland after I read the status change. The sad thing is that i am a very emotional person. I cannot stand a second delay from CDHC. If it was something you do and in like 1month its over with, I would have considered. I will consider the Skilled immigration option together with my whole family instead. @Pauloman and co, to the rescue [/quotHey bro,so sorry about your refusal ! Such is life. Looking at the documents you submitted i am kind of amazed why the embassy should deny or refuse your application because in terms of home ties you got it-with your employment and family (wife and children being in Nigeria),and as per funds i want to believe you are okay in that area too or perhaps was it the authenticity of the documents you submitted that couldnt convince them?(#just thinking aloud#). Anyway, just go and collect your documents and furnish the house what the embassy's reasons for refusal are. As per your considering the FSW visa option, what is your area of discipline and how many years of work experience do you have ? It is noteworthy to say that atimes people have a lot going for them such that they can make instant visa success when they apply for a particular visa category but because they do not know what potential they have to achieve success in a particular visa category, they end up applying for the wrong type of visa which they will end up being refused or denied at the end. Such happened to me. Looking at the documents you submitted i think you might just do well applying for another visa category like the FSW or any other visa category and you just might achieve success and of course another option is to re-fire back at your trv . |
lillaowow: Interesting!!!!LOLZZZ....You really got me cracked up with this your post. Relax bro, something tells me your trv is just around the corner ! |
Absolutely. That's ultimately what I desire: A nice guy with values who can stand up on his own two. The "bad boy" thing is played out and childish. I don't want a push-over but I most certainly don't want a thug or an arrogant clown who only has his nasty attitude going for himself. Some girls like the thrill of being with "tough guys" or "self absorbed rich guys". That's their headache!!But what's hilarious is how they eventually wonder why they end up being mistreated and hurt physically and/ or emotionally..#DUH! >>> If you buy a sports car with a poor engine why would you expect that it would be of any use for long ode? You get what you ask for. It may look nice or the name itself might be the "in thing" but if the inside is no good...HELLO?!SADLY: These type of GIRLS will keep hopping from car to car with engines ranging poor to cracked until they realize perhaps, just maybe their preference isn't any good! hmmm...They say "nice guys finish last". Says who? Those birds who chase those guys in the end are not "prizes" brothers! TRUST ME. They are little girls at heart who have a lot of growing up to do. Nice guys should look for nice, ambitious and self respecting gals. NOT PERFECT, but respectful. If you feel there are none in your area, look elsewhere! Just pray and wait for your better half to arrive. Never settle.
You are so on point ! |
deniyor: LIke I wrote, you can check the statistics. And please don't tell me the Canadian economy was immune from the recession. There are many who felt it deep enough to know what it meant to be in recession. I know many job seekers and people who graduated in the recession and what they faced.I really dont know what you are on about here my friend and no one said there was no recession in Canada. I made a relative statement that Canada was more immune to the recession compared to the US and UK. Please take your time and read well. Thanks |
Leathe jackets or gloves are useless.. Get a jacket that has insulation via fur/wool even if the outer surface is leather.. And a good jacket from Zara amd the likes wiill cost 160 upwards - tax
Yes i agree with you totally on the insulation with fur/wool inside ! |
Fhemmmy: But if the USA do not avert the cliff, Canada will be affected . . . however, i do agree with you that Canada was not badly hit like like the USA and UK, but we were affected to some extent too, cos jobs were lost, companies were closed down and many govt that were with surplus are not in red but most will be back on track soon.Yes fhemmmy ,the Cliff aversion is a major headache at the moment but from information i read some few days back, the republicans and democrats are soft pedalling on their decision to avert it successfully because if its not it wont only affect the Canadian economy but many world economies as the US economy is networked to all. Its rather unfortunate that the Canadian and US economy are closely tied together to the extent that a strong or weak US economy will have an identical effect to Canada's . But i think the Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his economic team,Flarherty and co are looking for drastic solutions already to salvage the economy just incase. |
@ifegy thanks for the info....please which of the provinces offer better employment opportunities to healthcare proffesionals? Do u think ontario would be a better choice? Pls advice cos thats the province we wrote when we applied for PRV. Though i know it can be changed. Thanks
Healthcare need i believe is high in demand everywhere you go in Canada and i want to believe there is even a more pressing demand in provinces where the population density is much like in Ontario. I stand corrected though. But you dont have to worry yourself that much because once you are a professional and you fully integrate yourself into the Canada system you will find your feet on the ground in no time. As a you have filled in Ontario as your destination point in Canada, i will advice you not to change it because from the stage you said your file has gotten to (decision made). Your Confirmation of Permanent Residence document has already been printed out and by the time you get to the Point of Entry the Immigration officer will ask you questions pertaining to your file to be sure that there are no irregularities before you will be granted entry to Canada. So get to your point of destination first before you start changing locations. If your file is a federal skilled worker category you have the advantage of easy moblity when you arrive in Ontario to move to another province before you apply for your citizenship after 3yrs. But if your got your PR through the provincial nominee program then you would be stuck in that province until after 3yrs before you can relocate to another province. Are your the principal applicant ? I would also advice the you key into the professional bridging programs organised by the government of ontario and the professional regulating bodies. Its an opportunity for professional immigrants coming to ontario to enrol in internship programs to fast track them getting their license and granting them canadian work experience and eventual integration into the scheme of things in Canada. |
ifegy: Well, it's important to have a balanced view of these things. There are so many factors to consider when looking at the employment picture in Canada. As mentioned earlier, if you're looking for a position in Oil and Gas or mining, then by all means head to Alberta and Saskatchewan respectively, or even the Northwest Territories or Northern Ontario, as you will be more likely to find what you want there. If you're interested in the tech industry, then perhaps Waterloo, Ontario, with its tech cluster might work for you. If you want financial services, then Bay Street in Toronto, Ontario is a better choice than St John's, Newfoundland. If you want salmon fishing, then Vancouver might work better for you. If you want construction, well, there are more high rises going up in Toronto than almost anywhere else in the world so that might work for you. If you want to work in a French environment, then head to Quebec. Federal government? Ottawa's probably best. Just ensure you're bilingual. Farming? Take your pick on the provinces. And so on.Thanks once again for this piece ! I wonder where deniyor gets his information from? He seems to spew contrary facts of what i know about Canada and moreso Ontario. From what i know Canadian economy was to a large extent immune from the world recession and was not badly hit like the USA or UK economies so i do not know where your assertions are from @ deniyor |
deniyor: I'm not saying you can't find winter clothing in naija. Problem is it is mostly likely going to be a waste as most of them wont be able to handle -45c weather. You can find cheap jackets in Saskatchewan too but don't expect them to last more than one or two winters. Those cost btw $20 to $60.You can find very good leather jackets in Naija that will keep off even the strongest cold my friend and i dont know where you get your informations from?! I got very good ones and leather is leather even when u get it from different locations and its very strong against cold no matter what intensity ! |
deniyor: What does that mean in terms of employment? Statistics Canada show Ontario has the highest unemployment (Nunavut really doesn't count). A simple google search will also show Ontario is the province with the most red and a crippling economy. This is despite canada having picked itself up from the recession. Of course, based on population, ontario has the highest GDP. But based on recent trends, Alberta is well poised to over Ontario as the economic hub of Canada.Where are you getting all thses wrong datas and informations from ![]() |
deniyor: Well, as we are talking in terms of jobs, lets talk about numbers that also matter - Unemployment.@deniyor, That was no insult,it only means you made a statement without proper facts to back it up. |
OkwaIfugo: It still remains Maulag. In your dreams abi? Not even GEJ can bring down a school name as old as he is talkless of you ! Long live Akokites and Idiarabites ! Long live my Alma mata !! Long live Unilag !!! |
skydeep: Why did u quote me?That is a nairaland error i guess...because i clicked on reply to the original post. |
skydeep: *pours her a bucket of water* wake upD-Explorer...please can we have a part 2 of this,i think there is still more to be said as well as more to learn concerning marriage from the various key participants because the topic of discussion is actually inexhaustible ! |
lipsyliscious: jeez! Creeps lyk u should try n visit an optometrist! Cos u're obviously blind! I'm trying 2 tell d op dat pick up lines won't work 4 a hot chick especially since a lot of guys are clamouring 4 her attention. Walking up 2 her n trying 2 chat her up would make her tink he's lyk d rest. Its a university community 4 christ sake, even the 'not so hot' girls get toasted a lot. Mtcheww... @ op try making ur meeting her look natural n coincidental. Since u're not in d same level u may not have sumtin 2 strike a convo bt look 4 sumtin. Don't walk up 2 her n make a fool of urself. Dere are so many ways of talking 2 her without making it looked planned n making an impression. Goodluck with wateva u come up with@ Op @ lipsy is very correct ! The said gal would have experienced all manner of toasting and wooing so for you to make any impression you have to be very creative, natural and come off as different. Being creative can come to play when your study her uniqueness from a distance. This is only what can give you an edge above all others and make you stand out. Let me give you a scenerio....if she has a religious life on campus ,you could go through her fellowship to get to make her your friend first then get closer to your goal. But remember the key is to make her your friend first before you take things up a notch. Best of luck ! |
ifegy: To clarify, if you are looking for a job in natural resources (eg mining, oil and gas), then Saskatchewan (mining) or Alberta (oil and gas) would probably suit you better. However, Ontario remains by far the largest economy in Canada, by GDP, and the Ontario economy is almost double the size of the next largest, Quebec. Alberta is the 3rd largest; British Columbia is 4th, and Saskatchewan is 5th. The service sector (eg financial services) is very strong in Ontario. It is also the largest manufacturing province. It does have some mining (in Northern Ontario), but not oil and gas.@ifegy Thanks for correcting deniyor on his" tua tua" yarns abt Ontario. Ontario by far has the most vibrant economy in Canada ! |
Hi everyone, hope u all r doing great! Please i need an urgent advice, i posted this somewhere on nairaland but i guess this is the perfect place to ask the ?s. My family applied for canadian skilled worker PR in 2009.submitted a whole lot of documents and each time i checked the online status it always says IN PROCESS! Well we got tired of waiting and moved to dublin ireland early this year. Just 2days ago,i got a mail from canadian immigration requesting for updates, original certificates marriage, birth and right of permanent residency fee, they are giving us 60 days to comply else they will assume we r no longer intrested. Out of curiosity ,i went to check the online status same day and it says DECISION MADE. Na wao i come tire. What does it mean abeg? Approval abi what? If yes, please advice me.....do u think canada is better than ireland in this present economy?? I mean in every ramification. Do u think i should pursue the canadian Pr or just forget it? Ireland so far is good..compared to where we were.just that the tax system is drving me insane, but between ireland and canada....my pple compare abeg and advice sincerely. Thanks
My dear waste no time at all on going to collect your Canada PRV...even people who are white citizens in Ireland are relocating to Canada and are giving testimonies about the decision to relocate. Need i say more? |

eelvismd: Majority are not and that is while many will leave a paying job in Nigeria and take the millions they have saved for years in the name of schooling abroad only to be disappointed upon arrival...Things are changing fast and the sooner we Nigerians recognized it the better for us all because the third world war that is imminent may not be in the form of weapons and ammunitionThis your comment caught my attention. So please what do you think the third world war would be all about then ? |
@All and most especially the new posters on this thread Please take adequate note because we have some veterans of this thread that has been there from the part1 up until now in part3. Their contributions right from the very beginning has made so many people where they are today no matter how little. If you know the magnitude and cost of information that is traded for free here only then would we realise that we need to respect each other especially those that bring a lot to the table. Fhemmmy is such person on this thread and a host of others like him like newacca just to mention a few. I would advice new comers on the thread to try to read from part 1 to this present part 3 to learn more and appreciate the immense contributions of veterans like fhemmmy and co that still choose to come render help once in a while to all of us. |
Don Cipher: @Pauloman, @Siga thanks i appreciate your urgent responses. Please i would be studying in New Brunswick come Winter 2013, and hope to apply for PR in another province (Sask, BC or Alberta) during my studies. Is this posible and what do you advice?Very possible ! Go throught the immigration web portal of saskatchewan and you will see their requirements for that category,so that you can start preparing yourself towards that. Cheers !l |
Siga: ...U can wait till u finish to put in the papers or apply at least 6 months into your program....if u apply during ur program...make sure u put in ur current transcripts to make them know u are working towards completing ur MSc coupled with 2 reference letters from ur professors and they might hold ur application and ask for ur transcript once u finish to upgrade ur points...but I will advise to finish first cos u stand a better chance....as per the Post Graduate Work permit...check this out... www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad.asp ... hope this answers ur question...@ Oga Siga I double sight you...thanks so much for your time yesterday. I really appreciate ! God bless !! |
Don Cipher: @Pauloman, @Siga please is it compulsory for a student to finish studies (M.Sc) first before applying for permanent residency or can a student apply during the period of studies; and what are the requirements? I heard that without PR after studies u are allowed to work for about 2/3yrs in some provinces to gain canadian work experiennce - please explain. ThanksYes studentship is one of the surest and major avenues to obtain permanent residency in Canada. The country is very generous enough with that such that they have created so many opportunities for internationational/foreign students be it undergrad, msc or phd students to convert their trv's to permanent residency. But first you have to be a bonafide student of a Canadian college or university that is accredited by Canadian Education Board. One of such lofty opportunities created by the Federal Government to allow students immigrate is the Canadian Experience Class Program. This enables all students wherever in Canada to apply after completion of study and has acquired at least one year working canadian experience by virtue of having a work permit to gain canadian experience after studies. Interestingly,in some provinces as an msc student in some provinces you dont need to start working before you can apply for your residency but you must at least be rounding up your program as a student to be eligible to apply, while in some u need to have acquired a job after study to be eligible to apply for your residency. In such programs msc and phd students have much better chances. I would advice prospective students and already bonafide students on this thread to visit the immigration website of the province he/she wishes or is studying at which have been provided above for each province so as to acquaint themselves with the opportunities the government has created for them to grab has students. Cheers |
mercylicious: I don ( =D. laffProvincial nominee programs could be quite straightforward and less tedious than the Federal Skilled Program but the major challenge is that most provinces might require that you have a sponsor or supporter on ground in the province you want to apply to who will stand in for you. I will send you web page links to all the pronvincial nominee programs of all the provinces in Canada. Each has their own requirements. Let me dig it out for you...brb okay here is a piece of information about the PNP weblinks to the PNP for each province in Canada Most provinces and territories in Canada have an agreement with the Government of Canada that allows them to nominate immigrants who wish to settle in that province or territory. If you choose to immigrate to Canada as a provincial nominee, you must first apply to the province or territory where you wish to settle and complete its provincial nomination process. The province/territory will consider your application based on its immigration needs and your genuine intention to settle there. The provinces and territories below currently participate in the PNP. Since the criteria vary among the provinces and territories and can change without notice, you should visit their websites for the most current information. Alberta----------http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/immigrating/ainp.aspx British Columbia---------------http://www.welcomebc.ca/wbc/immigration/come/work/about/index.page Manitoba--------------------http://www.immigratemanitoba.com/ New Brunswick---------------http://www.welcomenb.ca/content/wel-bien/en/immigrating_and_settling/how_to_immigrate/new_brunswick_provincialnomineeprogram.html Newfoundland and Labrador-------------http://www.nlpnp.ca/ Northwest Territories----------http://www.iti.gov.nt.ca/businesseconomicdevelopment/nwtnomineeprogram.shtml Nova Scotia---------http://www.novascotiaimmigration.com/ Ontario-----------------------http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/index.htm Prince Edward Island--------------------http://www.gov.pe.ca/immigration/pnp Saskatchewan------------------http://www.saskimmigrationcanada.ca/ Yukon--------------------http://www.immigration.gov.yk.ca/ynp_overview.aspx After you have been nominated by a province or territory, you must make a separate application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for permanent residence. A CIC officer will then assess your application based on Canadian immigration regulations. NB:THE WEB LINKS ABOVE IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT FOR STUDENTS IN CANADA AS IT IS THROUGH THE IMMIGRATION PAGES OF THE DIFFERENT PROVINCES YOU ARE IN THAT YOU WILL GET THE REQUIRED INFORMATION TO KNOW WHAT PROGRAM THE GOVERNMENT OF EACH PROVINCE HAS IN PLACE FOR STUDENTS IN CANADA TO CONVERT THEIR TRVs TO PERMANENT RESIDENTS. |
