whirlwind7:I know land is in short supply in Imo as it is just the size of a local government in Cross River State but that should not deter one. I am also from Imo State and want to have a feel of the experience of those on ground. The small land size means we have to apply innovative knowledge away from what we are presently doing, you can imagine the impact on Imo's economy when we begin to export to other parts of Nigeria products like strawberry, fresh milk, spices and herbs which are all do able when the will is there. |

OTDR:Flext biogas is far bigger than you saw, they are in no way fragile as you may think as those digesters last over 10 years and some produces 9 cubic of biogas. Watch this link to see their bigger project that powers a big generator that powers a compressing machine which is being used to compress biogas into cylinders that powers a Keke Marwa. https://web.facebook.com/dwanjihia/videos/10205916162161709/ |
Would love to read the experiences of farmers in Imo State, what they grow/rear, the prospects and challenges. |
Prays he returns home unhurt. |
gaussy:Re-read the post before yours. |
Fixed dome is really expensive. Visit flexi biogas on Facebook (though not on ground in Nigeria but the their system is better off than the dome). There system takes only 4 hours to install by their staff and within a week you start cooking with the biogas generated. Do try to watch some of their videos there. |
When the hollow has been filled to the level of the surrounding soil, the PVC should be removed. Make sure the stores are at the level with soil filled in the sack. The question is why the stones? Though one can fill the entire sack with just the soil mixture but it tends to consume more water and the lower part of the sack will likely not get as much water as the upper part and water tends to drain out through the sides before it gets to the lower part. With the stones in the middle of the sack, it serves as a conduit that ensures that every part of the sack get its own share of water as you need to direct the water on the stones and it seeps down.

Since the intent is on organic so in the stead of lime, one can apply ash derive from wood burning that is the ash derive from cooking with firewood as it is valuable as a liming agent that can raise pH and help neutralize acid soils. Fill a 20 litre bucket with ash and mix with the 5 wheelbarrows of soil and 5 wheelbarrows of manure. Mix thoroughly before them filling them in the sack. To fill the sack, one has to have the sack at ground level and roll up as it is being filled. When the soil mixture in the sack is up to 12 inches high, STOP. Get a 4 inches PVC pipe that is between 4ft and 5ft high and place in the midst of the sack being filled. The PVC pipe will be used to create a column within the sack Then continue filling the sack with the soil mixture around the PVC pipe in the middle. Once the bag is filled up to the surface with the PVC pipe in the middle. Fill the hollow of the PVC pipe with gravel as that will be local substitute in Nigeria for pumice stones Kenyans use. Though ballast stones (those stones one get to see along railway track) is a very good substitute but ABEG don;t attempt to go gather some at a railway line when dem arrest you, l no go show face o! ![]() The hollow to be filled is about 3 feet high (it means one will not get fill the entire pipe).

Eternal rest grant her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. |
Jesusbaby6:When your own 100gm seeds which l believe is in thousands do well, yours will also look like a bush because you re-plant some of the seeds from your initial harvest, your Chia farm expands. Just make sure it will be in a secure area to prevent theft because once people get to know its market value they will 'help you harvest' them. |
Politicians! |
Whatever solutions they come up with should aim at sustainably empowering Nigerians. |
Good development. |
While Nigerians could have earned N5b within the same 2 months from rice cultivation, processing and many value addition from rice itself and its 'waste products'! ![]() |

When one is not mentally balanced they hold on to their 'own truth'. If her own family, who knows her more than anyone could have her beaten up, what more can I add? |
