jasper7:lol....e be like say strawberry dey over hungry you! |
kk4real:Check your mail. |
@ladywriter, u are an inspiration.lt seems kenyans are more into this stuff as 3 of my neighbours here in Nairobi are deep into it as they collect dollars when they withdraw frm their Paypal acct using a local bank that is in partnership with Paypal. |
Exporting makes better economic sense as against importation. My brother for example, he is in Lagos producing products used in primary schools & selling it in Nigeria, also exporting it to Kenya. The products are lightweight thus low shipping cost. Likewise me l export craftwork from Kenya to Europe and to the U.S. |
nigerfine:Noted. |
l was joking with one of the Rev.Sisters here in Nairobi who is also Nigerian that if she was the regular business woman she for don become multi-millionaire with her out-of-box approach 2 agriculture, d videos she has on her laptop are mind-blowing! |
Here cabbage is like their equivalent to ugu. lt sold by everyone who sells vegetable, with 10Ksh (N21) the seller will slice into tiny bits and package cabbage l know l can not get for N100 in Lagos. lt is very possible to grow it outside the North. |
jasper7:Most of our local farmers are not too inquisitive as you are bt once u breakthrough everyone would want to copy & paste 2 their farms! |
@jasper7, u are very right on d issue of regulated water as l tasted a super sweet watermelon when l visited an aquaponics farm run by some Rev.Sisters & also d waste water from d fishponds which they use for d cultivation is a factor-l open mouth! |
With the much l have been exposed to, can't imagine myself following d crowd! Those foreign veggies that is sold at cut-throat prices at Shoprite & co will be my focus. God knows how much they are ripping off in d name of cauliflower, broccolli etc. |
cutieme:l am cool my brother |
Sometimes GEJ says things that provokes folks that have hitherto ignored him. l believe he is telling this to Nigerians who still buy fuel for their generators, who are now buying a dollar for over N200 because the economy is heavily dependent on oil? |
lt is her right....freedom of association. |
That is what is being used in aquaponics, one needs to taste watermelon or strawberries grown aquaponically. (Growing crops without soil bt using purnice/ballast as a base, as d waste fishwater goes thru d plant it purifies it ready to b used again) See the cabbage grown aquaponically and do take note of the stones it is grown on.

Let us not drag politics into it, lf such amount is truly missing Ngozi Okonjo-lweala has a moral obligation before God and man to render a true account to Nigerians. |
24 cups of rice? |
The truth is the present government can not give account on its spending on the war against Boko Haram as many outside the frontline have enriched themselves from the war! It is so sad bt true that this menace called Boko Haram is some people's ATM! |
We are observing. |
Nigeria....Rich Country,Corrupt Leaders! |
Observing the OP with one eye. |
Laughing.... |
@zitalin, ofe onugbu & ofe akwu l give in to its anambra origin bt not oha soup! as per ofe ede, traditionally we have preference for ugu as against bitterleaf bt with inter-marriage & people mixing up, things have changed. l lived in Awka for 4yrs. |
@zitalin, note that not all lgbos are from Anambra thus the variation. You folks are more into using akwu (palm kernel) while we in lmo are into palm oil and we may have more preference in using achi for bitterleaf soup as against "ede anambra". |
l just hope some of them will not faint! |
lanre2009:l doubt how many Nigerians are into it as it is seen as "oyibo" vegetable! |
@innovationafrik, well done bro. |
@choiceman, am glad over your wife's interest as it makes the work easier. see u busy making silent money from ewedu! We also have ewedu here in Kenya and they call it murenda. They add milk to it when preparing it, please don't ask me how! |
Once we can locally assemble a greenhouse @ a far lower cost, what we can achieve is endless. Imagine inside it vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage, cucumber are growing well. Whatever is the initial cost will worth it at the end of the day. |
choiceman:ls the Sugarbaby watermelon seeds not available in Nigeria?
|
Things fall apart!! |
Dokitadotun:Do re-send it. |
@TAEpiphany, it is 24ft by 72ft. for the 8 months of tomato harvest, it is 1,960kg/monthly (it is export quality tomatoes) then using the same sized greenhouse one gets 1625kg of capsicum monthly (note that capsicum is lightweight & more makes 1kg) |
