MayorofLagos: Does her job have a dress code?
During recruitment was she given training, in which proper dressing was taught or instructed?
Is there a training record on file for Kate, and bearing a signature of her acknowledgement of what is considered proper and improper dressing?
What's her work task at the job, is it people-facing?
Who are her clients, do they include children, family and married couples?
Does her braless appearance such that could catch attention and interest of young underage teenagers?
Are customers coming with their children to patronise her employer likely to be offended by her dressing?
Are wives in the store with their husbands likely to feel unease and uncomfortable with her presence in front of their husbands?
Kate, sexual harrassment has new dimension of coverage. Any of your clients could sue your employer for indecent exposure to their minor children ....or even sexually harassing their husbands with your jugs.
watch it! It will be preposterous to suggest that customers could sue the employer for indecent exposure by one of the employees solely on the fact the the employee's nipples were protruding through her top. If the nipples (or a significant portion of her breasts) were clearly visible to customers in public i.e. outdoors, then there may be grounds for bringing an indecent exposure suit. But if the breasts and nipples are significantly covered, say 80% of the boobs aren't visible, then such a suit will be frivolous even if the woman's top was one that accentuates her chest. Of course, (repeated) violations the dress-code of a company could be punished by the company alone. |

Politics › Re: Ojukwu: Nigerian Law School Should Be 'deregularised' by PDPGuy(op): 11:28pm On Jun 26, 2017 |
The idea for private vocational law schools is a good one, but there has to be limits to the number of such schools that are set up in the country. Presently, the Nigerian Law School has six campuses (Abuja, Lagos, Yola, Enugu, Yenagoa, and Kano) and I'd be in favor of granting a license to a private law school to operate in, say, the SW, and SE. |
Politics › Ojukwu: Nigerian Law School Should Be 'deregularised' by PDPGuy(op): 11:22pm On Jun 26, 2017 |
In an interview with The Guardian, Prof. Ernest Ojukwu (SAN) pointed out that the Nigerian Law School, saddled with the responsibility of training prospective lawyers before they are called to Bar, needs to be deregularised to allow other private institutions train law students. He also said the study of ethics must be introduced in the law curriculum in order to set the right tone for addressing the decline among other issues. How do you look at the future of legal practice in Nigeria in relation to the emergence of technology, ADR and globalisation? It is challenging. Our response to technology and globalization has been very poor and this is traceable to the foundational problem of our legal education. Can you for example find one court in Nigeria that has successfully stopped its judges from recording court proceedings in long hand in 2017? You advocate deregulation for the Nigerian Law School, where you once served as deputy director general. Can you explain how you think such should be done?In 2007 the National Committee for the reform of legal education set up by the government of President Obasanjo submitted a report calling for the deregulation of the Nigerian Law School. I was Secretary of the Committee. I am happy today that the call for deregulation has also been made by the NBA Legal Professional Reform Committee headed by Chief Tony Idigbe, SAN. The deregulation involves demarcating the authority and functions of the Council of Legal Education from the Nigerian Law School. Give full oversight functions to the Council of legal education to accredit and monitor Law faculties and Law Schools. Under the proposal, other law schools other than the Nigerian Law School funded by the Federal Government, could be registered and accredited to provide training for those wishing to be called to the bar side by side with the Nigerian Law School. Both the trainees who will go the Nigerian Law School and those who will chose other Law Schools would have their training under the same curriculum of the Council of Legal Education and take the same examination administered by the Council of Legal Education. ...... The Legal Practitioners Bill creates many disciplinary committees for the bar as against the present status of one Committee that is overburdened, gives legal backing to the mandatory continuing legal education programme of the bar and reviews the compositions of the Bar Council and other organs like the Body of Benchers and Privileges Committee to give them greater independence for efficiency and increase the representations from the Bar. The Legal Education bill demarcates between the Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Law School so that the Council is better empowered to carry out its oversights of universities and the Nigerian Law School and deregulates the Nigerian Law School to have other law schools not established by the Federal Government to be recognized and accredited. https://guardian.ng/features/law/nigeria-law-school-should-be-deregularised/ |

Well, shame on her manager for suggesting that she should wear a bra, and firing her. As a fellow woman, she should have been more sympathetic to her former employee, and scolded her brother for uttering inappropriate statements to one of her employees.
I would have advised her to seek legal redress, but it's most likely that she was hired on an "at-will" basis i.e. her employer could fire her without "good cause". But if the employment contract provided that she could only be terminated in certain circumstances (except complaining of sexual harassment), then I believe she has a good case of wrongful termination. |

Weddings are special occasions in which two adults in love are joined together to become husband and wife (or wife and wife ). It's also an avenue for family and friends of the couple to celebrate the new union. Therefore, would you prefer to have a small guest list (i.e. 50 or less), moderate list (greater than 50, less than 100), or a large guest list (over 100 guests)?

It's just that in parts of Europe, and developing countries, the airlines choose the faces of their female (and pretty) flight attendants in their marketing schemes; ostensibly because men comprise around 70% of passengers in developing countries like Nigeria. |

FrankNetter: In Chicago, you cannot park your car anyhow. You risk being issued a ticket, or worse still, your car could be towed. On one occasion, I had parked my jalopy and was about entering a building when one old man who was seated on a rocking chair outside the building beckoned me to come. I contemplated ignoring him and going my way, but I decided against it. On approaching him, he told me to go and park well, that the way I parked at the moment could earn me a $150 ticket.
Apparently, you're not supposed to park on the yellow line. That space is reserved for fire trucks in case of emergency (notice the fire hydrant). Yes, one risks a vehicle being towed if you park in a wrong spot. But, here in CA, the fire hydrant parking spot is painted red, and only fire-fighting or other first-responder vehicles can park at that spot. |

California restricts state travel to Texas, other states over LGBT laws
California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (D) will bar state employees from business trips to four states after those states passed measures limiting the rights of LGBT people.
The new restrictions prohibit state-funded or state-sponsored travel to Texas, Alabama, Kentucky and South Dakota, Becerra said Thursday.
State legislators in Texas, Alabama and South Dakota this year passed new laws allowing adoption or foster parent agencies to refuse service to LGBT families. A new Kentucky law would allow student organizations at state schools to block LBGT people from membership.
California’s Democrat-dominated legislature passed a measure last year barring state-funded travel to states that allow discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.
Already, the law has blocked employee travel to four other states — Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee.
“While the California [Department of Justice] works to protect the rights of all our people, discriminatory laws in any part of our country send all of us several steps back,” Becerra said in a statement. “That’s why when California said we would not tolerate discrimination against LGBTQ members of our community, we meant it.”
The California law still allows some employees to travel to states on the banned list, for special exempted purposes like collecting tax revenue, engaging in litigation or to complete on-the-job training. It also allows employees who must appear in a banned state to participate in meetings or training to obtain grant funding.
Becerra, appointed to fill the vacancy left behind when Sen. Kamala Harris (D) quit the attorney general’s office in January, is seeking election in 2018. He faces state Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones (D), the only other announced candidate. http://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/339154-california-restricts-state-travel-to-texas-other-states-over-lgbt-laws |
