For the first time ever, all African teams won at least a match at a FIFA women’s World Cup!

Not sure I'll have us play a 3-5-2 formation . I'll rather we stick to the 4-3-3.

Also, really hoped to have seen Imuran at the game against Ireland. It will be dicey introducing her in the knockout stages. Almost improbable except there's a case of injury. She also has been playing as a forward in her club so her defensive instincts may not be as sharp as they used to.

Kanu as CF will be an option but slightly prefer Onumonu. Ajibade and Monday/Okoronkwo on the wings.
I’ll go with Ajibade, Kanu and Okoronkwo

She's been off form even before now so I'm not totally surprised. She however has been the most effective in the box. If Randy has to use her, then I'll rather she plays as a 9; she's as fast as Oshoala and can score. She also will have little or no defensive responsibility. That's the only way I see her featuring moving forward.
Cool
Do you think she will thrive in this formation?

If Nigeria wins that match then I will know F:I:F:A is not corrupt..

England vs Senegal in the mens world cup saw Senegal keeping a high defensive line with their slow defenders means Senegal intentionally lost that match. If Super Falcons keep a high defensive and allow lots of spaces then I will know Super Falcons have sold the match..

Even the Final Argentina vs France, France was keeping a high defensive line and it was very very obvious "the oga at the top" wanted Argentina to win then during half time break something must have been said to France that they were making it too obvious then France wanted to kill Argentina in the 2nd half and almost won the match if not for that one on one miss..

now imagine if France had played with the same energy in the 1st half... that's not ignoring the fact that Argentina got a penalty in every match.

England will get one or more penalties against the Super Falcons..
Hmmm

I won’t doubt that there is match-fixing at major tournaments because let’s think about this:

I’m a female footballer who, on average, earns $14k/year or a median of $20k/yr. Then someone offers me $80k (or more) to throw a match; to be honest, I would be tempted to take up that offer

I disagree with your first statement o. Gift is a thousand times better than Kanu defensively. While it's true Kanu has been underwhelming, I also won't fault her too much as she's primarily a 9. She does better in the box and excels when her only responsibility is to score goals.

Not sure about Oparanozie sha. It will be experimenting with someone who is battling with fitness and is yet to kick a ball. That's too much gamble.
Noted.

I think Kanu could even do the hold-up play cos I noticed she’s 3 inches taller than Oparanozie, and equally as strong

Not sure Gift will start, but really hope Kanu doesn't. We need someone who can play with Alozie on the right and Gift did better, even though I felt she also had her own issue. There was one run Alozie made and she beat her man, and Kanu just stayed back looking. Not sure if anyone saw that but I was so furious. If Randy can drill gift to play improve significantly defensively and also to not hold in to the ball to much, I won't mind him starting her.
Yeah, I agree Gift doesn’t work as much defensively as Kanu. Aside from her goal and attempt vs Ireland that produced the save of the tournament, Kanu has been underwhelming at this WC.

If Oparanozie is fully fit, I wouldn’t mind if she starts on Monday, most especially if Waldrum goes with a 3-5-2. With that formation, Oparanozie would, among other things, be tasked with holding up the ball to bring in Ajibade/Alozie

With Rose Lavelle out of the US’s game against Sweden (let’s face it, no miracle will prevent Sweden from winning the group😁), the Swedes will have bear free reign in the midfield

I'm not even surprised at the pessimism of some people. Most never even gave the girls any chance. Most opined that we were going to lose 3 games and come home, we however qualified from the group unbeaten conceding only 2 goals with 2 clean sheets.

Monday is almost here, and really hoping you're surprised again.
Who knows, Gift may give us the gift of a goal on Monday..

BTW, each Super Falcons player is now guaranteed a minimum of $60,000 for advancing to the round of 16🤩
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 7:28pm On Jul 31, 2023
My issue with a 3-4-3 is that it will further leave the midfield exposed for the England/China’s midfield to run through, which would result in the defense coming under unnecessary pressure.

If we are to go three at the back, I would rather prefer the 3-5-2. Yrs, this formation sacrifices some of our attacking talent, but it would ensure that the team always has an adequate midfield presence.

Nigeria v Group D winner comes up on Monday, August 7, at 8:30am…

Fun facts:
- Nnadozie joins Peter Rufai and Enyeama as the only Nigerian keepers to keep 3 WC clean sheets

- this is the first time the SF will earn 2+ clean sheets in the group stage

- First time ever that the SF will complete a WC group stage with a positive goal difference

- First time ever that the SF will go through a WC group unbeaten

AkinDS:
So could have the vicious shin stump by Evelyn Viens on Ohale which had multiple compound fracture written all over it and was a no call (it seems all the people in the VAR room were on a bathroom break when the incident happened).
The Canadian got up and completed the match as if nothing happened. Clearly, there was no ill-intent from Abiodun, unlike the Canadians stump which was intentional.
💯💯
