Hello everyone,

I've confirmed that minimum of 6 months coop count for SINP but I'm not sure if that coop program must be in SK. Please can someone confirm if coop done in another province still counts for SINP after school?

Hello all.. Please can someone who's lived in both cities, kindly compare Edmonton and Regina in terms of cost of living? What's the cost of one bed or single room for accommodation, transportation, both groceries and vehicle purchase.. Many thanks..

Thanks for responding.. I'm not scared of the credit system but just asking to learn.. Apart from making payments and using it wisely, by paying off debts before the due date, in order to accumulate points and reduce interest rates for subsequent purchases, can you kindly share other options for using the credit card?

CountVersailles:

I don't know why you guys are always scared once you hear credit. Credit in canada is different from credit in Nigeria if you know how to use it wisely. Credit is actually good and a lot of people have made fortunes off the back of this. Oga, don't be scared. You can do car loan if you want. You can do anything and not just limit this fantastic opportunity to just "buying groceries and paying phone bills". Just use it wisely.

Hello all. Please can a good credit score be achieved from just using credit cards to buy groceries and pay phone bills? Can someone achieve a good score for house mortgage without having to do car loan on credit first?

Please further break this down for another newbie.. Kindly start from first principle.. Tnx

captainmichaelo:

Use it as down payment for a precon that's closing in say 2/3 years ( make sure u have the clause of assignment). That way, you start building equity while simultaneously building your credit and a good job to close. In other words, uld b more settled by the time of closing.
Cheers.

Hello everyone.. With tax season almost here, kindly advice students on how to go about it. What is required for filing and is it online? All inputs and explanations are much appreciated.

Majority of the people here are in Nigeria seeking advice on how to immigrate. You're already in Canada and asking them for advice? Lol. If you ask them, na who dem go ask? It's better you take your query to Living in Canada thread. Meanwhile, your dates don't add up but I'll advice that you go about your reapplication first, because it's your status that gives permission to your spouse coming in..

rheene009:
Good morning Nairalander,

I am currently in Canada Sept 2021 intake, taking a 1 year PGD programme which will be completed on April 30th 2022 same day my visa expires, I'm applying for a second program 1+1.

My spouse applied for OWP since April 2021 but no PPR yet. I was told by a classmate that there is a 6 month's rule meaning if SP's current status is less than 6 month it will affect OWP visa application even tho he filed is application immediately i got my approval. What can i do, is this information true.

Thank you.

Hello. I'm guessing that direct PPR didn't work out and that's why you wanna use study route right? First of all, your engineering seems to be a thing of the past so no need to think in that direction. I can advise you go for a relatable management masters program, that you can justify with more content than what you got from MBA. But then, you should first be passionate about this o, if it's what you want.

Good luck to you and Happy new year to everyone else. May 2022 be a better year.

Profkaey:
Good morning all, my wife practically dragged me here after talking of how much information is on this thread. please, advice me accordingly. i hold a B.Sc. in Engineering (2001) and MBA. been in banking for 17 years now. what course(s) would you advice i go for and what are my chances of getting the visa. (i was denied a visit visa in 2019 thereabout). I will appreciate your sincere contributions

Hello everyone, please would you advice a student on TRV to change ALL their naira to CAD? Considering tax season documentation and all, will it attract penalty charges and tax if a student have alot of funds, much more than the amount for fees and associated expenses?

There's Goya Olive oil here. I literally have one.. Use the space for palm oil and garri

Lekiboboe:

Ok now, taking note, Gracias!!

But can I go with my GOYA Extra Virgin Oil, if yes, should i leave the content in that glass bottle (mine is quite big like a Coke bottle and can break if it falls on the ground) or I should pour the content into a Plastic table water Bottle?

Pls is it wise / permitted for a student on TRV to invest in like TFSA or any other banking investment platforms? Apart from banks, which other investment options are available with better ROI?

I used a friend's phone number. They just need a number they can send log in code via text to. So you can ask anyone you know

Lekiboboe:
For a Traveler who don't have a Canadian Phone number (+1) , and wants to book for the Post Arrival Covid19 Test at Switch health, Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) what do you advise ?, cos the Phone number field started with Canadian Dial up number (+1)

Our recent travelers, your based on experience response would be very essential

If you're ever going to quarantine, it has to be in school. UoR made it compulsory, so book with hospitality service to pay on arrival, if need be. Safe journey down here.. Cheers

Toluchenko:
Hello everyone. I am new to this thread. I "ported" from the Canada Study Visa Thread. I need some clarifications on this quarantine parole.

I recently got my application for study visa approved (Fall 2021; University of Regina, Saskatchewan). I have been able to link up with family friends that stay around my school, so I plan to stay with them for some months till I settle fully and find my apartment.

Now, I have been fully vaccinated and I recently heard that fully vaccinated individuals will still have to show their quarantine plans in case they are not exempted (from quarantine) by the officials at the Point of Entry.

My questions;

1) Will my Family friends' house be a suitable place for quarantine?

2) If No to (1), what if I get a quarantine apartment and I eventually get exempted from quarantine at the Point of Entry. Hope getting a refund would not be difficult?

3) Please, can someone put me through the process getting an apartment for the 14 days quarantine.

Thank you..

Instead of going back to declare it as a mistake, try to get even if it's a volunteer employment letter from the said firm. I think it's a better deal, considering that you may not have pay slips or any other employment docs

Freebands01:
Omo I just remembered now I filled employed when I was filling my application, I stated in my SOP I continued at the company I learned my computer skills, so I filled employed when asked about my employment history. I didn’t add any employment documents. Should I write a letter stating I mistakenly filled it knowing that I didn’t add any employment documents ??

Very apt response, your emotional intelligence and patience should be studied. Great job still keeping the thread active, well done Lekan

Lekiboboe:

You are welcome Honorable, I never made any Statement as regards the bolded.

It's just an Update I saw which I shared.

Based on the headline, Its is expected of an incoming student, Prospective Student of that school or otherwise to do his/her due diligence by googling or visiting the link to read details about it whether it applies to him/her or not which you just did.

Gracias for the information breakdown

Your advise is good but my concern is if the man will utilize this approach, if the reverse was the case. God is my all in all, but sustaining a marriage by one person's prayer is hard work.. When will she stop using prayer to reset his head? Can't she comfortably just stay happy knowing that she has a responsible man? This whole prayer advice sha. I can pray for one off decisions to turn out in my favor, but that I'll keep praying for my spouse to be reasonable and loving? Nah.. That's too much

irijuola:

I know you are hurt and very angry but you have to be careful also. All these ways you are looking at will spell doom for you both. How? If he ends up being deported, he will never stay married to you. Try all amiable ways to fight for your marriage. Involving Canadian and school authority will be bad for him but what will you gain from it? Really, if the marriage can be saved, try and save it. If not, let it go. If you threaten him with all these, you don't know the extent him or his family will go. Don't lose your life my dear.
The only advice I have for you as a Christian is this: PRAY. The same way voodoo can be made to reset someone's mindset, prayer can do better. Pray that God should make him miss you terribly. Pray that God should withhold rest from him until he contacts you. In the midnight, cry out to God and he will surely answer you.

My sister, try God when all hope seems lost. All is well with you.

I just stay calm and see how things unfolds, so I don’t make a wrong move, one day one day the truth will come out and I won’t be blamed as not been a virtuous woman or lack patience

It's good that you're patient enough to still wait for months, but try and stay sane cos I think the bros is living life. Keep trying to reach him and document for evidence sake, cos you'll need those. Pray like it's been advised but sha start rearranging like a single lady. From what I've gathered, he was already a student before the marriage, so immigration may have his record as single. I don't know what the plan was for both of u as regards life after his school, but if him don change am for you, you sef go change am for am, when you're sure that he wasn't in prison, hospital, kidnapped or dead. Someone said black magic, Africans sha. Anyway, just know peace.. I emphasize with you and send u light.

Don't mind them.. People just type rubbish online.. There's food bank here and there, students get cheaper deals with banks and transportation, the International service office of almost all schools give out things regularly.. What exactly is he working that he can't speak to his wife for months? Except he's in jail and was denied communication, no other excuse will cut it. He's just irresponsible abeg

DrFreemason:
I honestly cannot believe there are people here trying to defend not talking to one's wife for four months, giving excuses that being an international student is difficult. Even world leaders that are tasked with running their countries create time to talk to their wives not talk of an ordinary masters student abroad. Are you saying masters student abroad are so busy that they cannot create 5 minutes a day just to say hello to their wives?

Thank you very much. I’ve already gone through the post but those two (especially vegetable oil) were not explicitly stated and that was why I asked.

I will discourage you from carrying anything canned o. The weight of the container will make it not worth it. Instead, buy all the dried fish u can find in the market. It's about weight management. How many sardines can you even carry? Buy native spices and fish instead.

I requested for that, they sent money immediately.
That’s where I lost interest... and I had waited too long...
Was just living on no plans for how long.
Other plans came in along the line.
I just had to quit.

How did they send money? Back to the account that paid them without your consent?
