Lekiboboe:
Nope there is no law but it's like its a protocol

All download IMM forms are to be Uploaded in its required section.....

Other documents/forms that are not from CIC are SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS (as directed by CIC) and are to be Uploaded in the CLIENT INFORMATION or POF
Ok but is this protocol specified by IRCC? cos while uploading IMM forms, there are sections that u must upload just filled forms while there are others that you can afford to scan and upload. The family section is one of those were u can print, sign and upload scanned forms, so I think other documents can be merged to the IMM form for this family section.

Only a superior argument with proof where an applicant has been denied or requested to submit supporting documents already merged & uploaded in this section will make it a fact; else I think it's up to choice and interpretation.

So I look forward to examples from the past.

Wow.. Thanks a lot...

To break into the Engineering or Technical industry in Canada, the most favoured certificates are any of the following: a Journeyman trade certificate, a diploma or a degree certificate (BSc, Masters or PhD). The PGC would be useful when you are already in the company and looking to move up or change departments/divisions.

I've read that Form A is used at banks for such purposes but you need to know the destination account and all, and go with your admission letter stating amounts and fees

Hi.. Is there a law that said we must submit the family form alone? Was thinking he can merge all family documents and pictures +IMM form and upload in this section to reduce the documents in Client section

TimAke:
Merge with other docs in client info. Submit the family info imm form alone.

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Pee2Jay9: 8:18pm On Jun 22, 2020
Thanks for your reply but how about you obtain permit for a year program and choose a 2 years program eventually before you travel? Just inform IRCC by email or at POE?

JustMellow:
Hello Pee2Jay9,

International students are eligible to switch or transfer to another DLI and if located in Quebec, the requirement to get CAQ is mandatory. The only requirement is to update the Gckey Online Account with the new DLI number without needing to inform IRCC except maybe if the International student's status changed prior after landing. Afterwards, IRCC database of the profile will be updated automatically or after several periods has passed.

Thus, if an international student intend to switch or transfer from a current course of study or program that got their permit issued, the need to inform IRCC or updating the GcKey holds no significance or default. This means it only concerns the DLI and the international student since the learning institution didn't change.

All the best

Good morning e-fam. Can a guru kindly upload the stamped Canada visa and the study permit given at POE? I will really like to see how it looks, even with your canceled personal details.

My question is: if I apply to 2 schools - A for PGC and B for Masters, and A gives me admission letter earlier and I apply for TRV with it and later on, school B offers me admission too, can I eventually attend B even if I get successful approval visa with school A admission letter?
PS - school A and B are in different provinces

Pls are you currently with the University of Alberta?

ndoeyopbennet:
Don't be scared bro. I felt scared too. The truth is that these things appear tougher than they are. Don't be discouraged. I advise you to apply for as many scholarships as possible. Regardless of how difficult or competitive they are, many Nigerians have won them. I know a Nigerian PhD student who won the Vanier scholarship of over C$50,000 per year. He's at the University of Alberta. He didn't even make a first class. He was lucky and had a good proposal. If he can do it, you can too. Just be positive and make sure you have all the minimum requirements.

May the odds be in your favour.

My application is an online-based type and i will be sorting the Tuition fees part of my POF and a Sponsor will cover living expenses.

1. The sponsor statement is a Pension type, would like to know if this is permissible?

2. Since 2 statements are involved, How do i upload 2 statements in Proof of Funds Section?

3. When should one send a statement to the embassy (i.e MyBankTicket (gtb) ), Before or After application submission?

4. Document checklist show 2 passport photos are required, Can i upload the two at once or include them in SOP?

Please kindly reply
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Pee2Jay9: 9:25pm On Jun 18, 2020
Good job.. Thank you very much

ndoeyopbennet:
It wasn't easy for me too. I got in after a year of initial attempt and I was very lucky. I applied for PhD at some universities in Canada in 2018 but was rejected in ALL of them. I had to use the rest of the year to rethink what went wrong and I believe what I did can be useful to prospective PhD and Masters by research applicants. I finally got 3 fully funded PhD offers in my second attempt. I had to select the one with the best offer.

1. Do not write like a Nigerian. This is kind of hard but you should know that the language of Nigerian research is not the typical language of research in the Western world. This is very important when you write your proposal/statement of program. You should try to read as many successful proposals as you can and then model yours after them. The implication of this point is that you should be mindful of your expressions, research interests, how your present your work/structure, etc. Locate the page that lists current graduate students on the department's website and mail current students. Ask them questions about the programme, the admission process, the Professors you can contact and most importantly, ask them to send you their proposals. You can also read the chapter one of recent theses from the department via their online theses repository.

2. If you're applying to thesis-based programmes, you should focus on a concrete research plan rather than personal stories of how you grew up in poverty or how you've always dreamt of studying in Canada and so on. Those personal tales are not necessary for research based programmes. You may probably start with a personal anecdote or motivation for your work but leave it there and concretize your research plan by detailing research questions, gaps in scholarship, purpose of proposed work, methodology, theories to be used, anticipated findings, and if possible, a short working bibliography.

3. You should establish contact with prospective supervisors as early as possible. Many of them select their students months before applications commence. This means that some supervisors already have candidates 3-4 months before application portals are opened. This is why they ignore other mails. If you want to apply to a thesis programme by September, start mailing prospective supervisors by January or February. Introduce yourself politely and attach your CV, transcript, and a short proposal. Make sure the email is customised and, if possible, draw connections between the supervisor's research and what you want to do. Try and leave a very strong impression.

4. Do not limit yourself to one school. Apply to as many as 5 or 6 schools. Initiate contacts with supervisors from a wide range of schools and then apply to the ones where you have supervisory confirmation. Note that some departments do not require you to get a supervisor before application. You should always confirm this on the department's website or with the Graduate Programme Coordinator. In any case, apply to many schools. Sometimes, the gamble can pay off and you'll get into more than one school.

5. Always emphasise what the department can offer you. Since resources are small and the applicant pool is large, you have to establish how your research "fits" into the department. Many departments have peculiar interests or focus. For instance, Carleton University's Department of Linguistics may focus on generative linguistics whereas University of Albert's Department of Linguistics may focus on historical linguistics. You should always confirm this through the staff profiles and strengths. You can also ask the Graduate Programme Coordinator for confirmation.

The 5 points above will only be useful if you have good university grades (strong 2:1 or first class). Your last two years in school are very important.

Feel free to ask further questions.

I'm thrilled by this write up so kindly enlighten me on what made your application stand out.. It seems getting this scholarship and supervisors is more difficult than getting a job in a Nigeria.. Many just read and ignore ur numerous emails.. What made yours exceptional apart from favour?

ndoeyopbennet:
You don't need work experience to get a study permit. You only need to explain your prospects in terms of job opportunities and leadership or academic potentials.

Fully funded scholarships apply mainly to thesis based research. Masters by thesis and PhD. Not all Masters by thesis gets full funding though. You have to research and know if the department gives full funding. Full funding here means complete tuition and living expenses. Some departments offer partial funding for Masters. If you get such, you must show proof of funds for the extra costs.

PhD applicants usually get full funding (there are still notable exceptions too). PhD funding comes via fellowships, teaching assistantships, research assistantships, etc. In my case, I got a fellowship for four years. Fellowships are the best and they are guaranteed too. If you get a TA or RA, you work for the money and things can change at any time so you must have a backup plan too.

The courses you mentioned would have funding for thesis based programmes. The universities that typically offer the most funding at the Masters degree level in Canada are: University of Alberta, Simon Fraser University, McMaster University, Wilfred Laurier University, University of Western Ontario and University of Saskatchewan. At the PhD level, the list is even longer.

Note that thesis based programmes are extremely competitive. Even with a first class, you may not get in. You need a strong proposal/statement of program and sometimes the approval of a prospective supervisor. In my program, they admitted only 4 PhD students out of over 100 applicants. They took only 8 Masters by thesis applicants out of over 250 applicants. Get ready for that level of competition except your discipline generally has fewer applicants.

Frankrobbn1 should be able to say more on this too.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Pee2Jay9: 9:16pm On Jun 17, 2020
I want to be like u when i grow up.. You've infact laid this matter to rest. Thank you... Finish with Canada and come and help Nigeria biko, we need knowledgeable persons like u taking up leadership positions..

Frankrobbn1:
Permit me to combat my intended point of view about the above matter. It is a well-known fact that Canada visa thread on Nairaland moves faster than Australian Student thread, this independently doesn't convey that there is leniency in visa issuance for Nigerian students travelling to Canada than Australia. Instead, It is as a result of the following shortlisted factors that influenced more applicants wanting to further their studies in Canada than Australia.

These deciding factors includes;

1. Canada tuition fees are way cheaper than Australia.
2. The chances of becoming a permanent resident of Canada is high whether your program is in demand or not. Once you're done with your studies and have acquired at least a 1 year working experience in Canada, You're very eligible to dive into the Express Entry Pool or possibly get nominated by the province where you schooled. However, in Australia the reverse is the case because if the expertise of your program is not in demand you will be forced to return to your home country.
3. Again, the cost of living is cheaper in Canada than Australia.
4. In terms of universities ranking, Canada is uppermost than Australia.
5. Furthermore, Scholarship availability is higher in Canadian Universities than in Australia.
6. Another driving factor is the fact that Canada doesn't require applicants coming from Nigeria to show proof of English proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL) in any stage of the process (admission or visa). On the other note, English proficiency test is a compulsory requirement for every applicant going to Australia for studies and it's also a requirement in the Australian Study Visa application.

I believe the above information will give you a proper insight as to why Nigerians prefer Canada over other top study destinations like Australia.

It will end in praise

U asked for corrections but will attack the ones given to u.. U aren't paying anybody for answering you so a little humility will be good.. Meanwhile, there's no VO here so u can as well not ask anything since u're all-knowing.
As for ur passport, I don't understand why u'll need to scan 2 passports and upload (I'm addressing this for others u may likely confuse with ur 2 passport style for an online application)

NairaLuck:
Hehehehe, yea you're right.
yes my CGPA is very good otherwise I would not have led in the students Community.

The passport I meant was passport photograph if it's what I can scan.

Originally I asked for correction of documents required for study permit application.
Please let's address that and leave the VO's decision.
I'll remain confident and positive
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Pee2Jay9: 11:31am On Jun 15, 2020
Coming here to declare your study permit as an immigration pathway is even counter productive.. I'm sure he meant that hope you don't have a 2.1 and opting for PGC cos your financial analysis of cost management undecided won't make the VO give you visa.. Meanwhile, how do you intend to submit 2 passports via an online application?

NairaLuck:
I chose PGC cause of the duration. You and I know that it's all an immigration pathway so why spend more when I can spend less and still arrive at my destination and the goal of immigrating knowing in the job market there's hardly any segregation in degree rather they need your skills and experience ?
Secondly, I'm not serving (NYSC) I don't wish to serve cause of the time frame except I confirm that I can leave half way then someone will get my discharge certificate.

Lastly, I'm not employed but I provide services and in the meantime I have been learning a new skill online.

Hi Frank.. Seems MUN degree description is opposite of others, MASc there is course based.
My question is can one further studies with it or it is terminal like MEng in other schools??

Frankrobbn1:
University of Windsor requires that no student should have more than 3 backlogs and in your case you have 5 F's. My advice is that you should try the Memorial University of Newfoundland. Your chances of getting admitted into a Master of Applied Science (MASc) is considerably high.

It will end in praise
