By the way I have heard people say that those earning in dollars and spending in naira gains nothing when naira depreciates but that's not true. Everyone earning in dollar gains once naira depreciates. Now, let me break it down for you.
Someone earning $500 monthly when naira exchanges at 400 to a dollar would have 200k but once naira depreciates to 500 per dollar, his income becomes 250k monthly i.e. 50k extra.

However, when dollar appreciates, only imported commodities are directly affected. Rent remains static, likewise transport and locally grown food. Remember that FG still subsidizes fuel while means that they will offset the increase due to exchange rate.

So, while salary earners and businessmen would have a static income regardless of exchange rate fluctuation, the person who earns in dollar is now 50k naira richer and all of them will still go to the same market, buy the same commodities and pay the same rent.

In summary, when dollar appreciates those that earn forex gain.

No, you get it all wrong.. On paper, you're correct. But in reality it is not so, especially for a heavily import country like Nigeria.

What happens is that rents would go up for house owners to make more money to purchase imported goods. Prices of other locally made goods would go up to make manufacturers buy the more imported goods.
That is usually the long term result of depreciation.

So you that earn the dollar would convert in Naira and buy more goods expensively.

In short term, it's gonna be good news to those who earn FX. But long term...

There is still a grey area that I await Mr Tomi to respond to regarding dividend payout. Most stocks in my portfolio are dividend-paying stocks, but I have not received the dividend that was paid by one of my holdings on 14/04/2020. On the other hand, I received email notification inviting me to the AGM of one of my dividend-paying holdings on Chaka and my dividend reflected in my trading account afterwards.

I so much love Trove's interface, but it seems I would have to invest in non-dividend paying firms through the platform while I buy dividend-paying stocks through Chaka.

How dyou know a dividend paying stock from a non dividend paying stock?

Now my Tesla story.
I bought Tesla $711.53 on 2nd March 2020 to trade it at the slightest $100 gain.
Along the line, I decided I will hold long term.

After weeks of rigmarole, it shot up to $814.42 on 20th May 2020 and I sold happily with a $950 gain, forgetting my last decision to hold long term.

Behold, 20 days after, I mean just yesterday, Tesla popped $1,025/share. My $950 gain would have been a $2,910 (N1,309,500.00) gain if I had been patient for only 20 days!

Now am going to have to experience a long wait for a pullback/crash to buy back if it falls under $900 for my long term holding.

They're many forex investment platforms that ppl that don't wanna trade themselves use. Eg MBA forex etc.
Ur gal isn't stupid or foolish, just try and make sure d ppl she invested with are legit and good traders and i promise u she won't regret it.

Please how can I know the value of the shares I bought years ago with Zenith bank?

Hello guys... I'm new here and after going through various posts, I seem to be quite interested in the stock market.

The thing is, my dad bought some shares for me when I was a kid with Zenith bank, through Veritas registrars. Though, sometime last year, we went to veritas head office in Victoria Island and somehow somehow, I started receiving dividends in my bank account.

Now, how can I know the volume of stocks remaining? Or to buy more and top up? Or to start doing business with it?
