Black Kenichi:
Those Mahamris look good!
yummy. But make sure they are coastal mahamris. You can be given mandazis' which resemble them but the manadazi's arent that tasty.

Now this breakfast of yours we all know it.lol.
You forgot the juice, the cereal, pancake, coffee and the fruits. grin Damn I skip breakfast most of the time but I can carry a mahamri to the office and enjoy with tea.
And no I can't eat eggs more than twice a week plus I don't like oily stuff in the mornings esp.

adaobi123: Also Kenyan love potatoes, why ?

Oh we have them in plenty all over the country.A kenyan meal without potatoes is undecided If I lack potatoes in my house I feel sick.
See,while you guys pound cassava we pound potatoes. That is the difference.
Potatoes make variety of dishes.I love boiling frying and dipping in what we call kachumbari.

^^^ You can eat as much as you want,I prefer chicken or fish-white meat.

Kenyans love tea! That's a fact.We don't eat 'food in the mornings' grin
Now waht could be tastier than tea served with mahamris.
Now these aren't doughnuts. They are close to but they are made using fermented milk and spices,I swear I can eat 20 of them.
grin

2buff:

This is what you kenyans eat hence y'all so skinny grin
Now a typical nigerian dish is loaded and dripping with starch and ample meat. cheesy
In fact angry , Wives have been slapped for not putting the correct portion of meat inside the soups of their husbands tongue

See why I said there is nothing like a 'kenyan dish? This is a local dish called mukimo/irio in local lingo and it's eaten by the people from central kenya.
It's very nutritous cz it contains lots of vegetables, beans maize potatoes and served with stew. It's a complete meal. You can eat 210kg of meat if you want and become obese.
But don't expect to be served such a meal when you tour another kenyan province. But why lie.I don't like that presentation esp the soup.I am not a fan of 'soups and more soups'

adaobi123: i lovvvvvveeeeeeeee chapati and roti, thank God for my Asian and my kenyan friends grin

grin grin me too.But roti is flat.I love the curries that go with it
Food / Re: African Cuisine by pendo89(f): 12:03am On Mar 29, 2013
Pilau

I am unable to pick a 'kenyan dish cz like I said each tribe has its own and I cant find some photos.
But most dishes have potatoes included.

chicken tikka

pilau-spiced rice dish

Food / Re: African Cuisine by pendo89(f): 11:53pm On Mar 28, 2013

The difference between roti and chapatis is clear.Chapos are softer while rotis are pretty dry and not tasty when eaten without accompaniments

adaobi123: I thought samosa is Asian food

I know why you say that but it's a favorite and common kenyan snack found in all restaurants including the remotest village. There are lots of Asians in the East by the way and they love samosas too.
Don't forget that the Kenyan coast is full of arabs, hence the term swahili dishes which are very yummy cz they are know how to play around spices.
Food / Re: African Cuisine by pendo89(f): 11:40pm On Mar 28, 2013
How did you do that Cameroon? I tried but they refused to load. Thanks

mashed peas and potato mix and some stew.

Food / Re: African Cuisine by pendo89(f): 11:26pm On Mar 28, 2013
This is what you would ordinarily find in any restaurant in kenya.

chips masala-Tomato sauce, chili sauce, herbs, cilantro, and whatever else the chef decides are all added to the fries, coating them in a luscious sauce

Bajias-Potatoes are sliced up and battered with seasoning, deep fried, and served with a Kenyan tomato salsa that is worth boasting about.

Nyama choma-roasted goat. You can't say you have been to kenya if you haven't enjoyed nyama choma.
Food / Re: African Cuisine by pendo89(f): 9:10pm On Mar 28, 2013
Sybellah: Potato is now very popular across West Africa, although i don't think we can grow potato in West Africa
spaghetti/noodles as well are very popular

WHAT? Where do you buy potatoes from? Most of our dishes revolve around potato,it would be a national disaster if we didn't have them.

I also don't like lots of soup in a bowl or plate. It's worse if it has 'oil'floating in it.The drier the food the better for me.
Food / Re: African Cuisine by pendo89(f): 9:05pm On Mar 28, 2013
Sybellah:

that's pancake on the plates

grin grin No.We call them chapatis in kenya.
When I get time I will post swahili dishes from mombasa.(Kenyan coast).Kenya doesn't have a 'national meal' well except nyama choma (roasted goat meat).
Each tribe has a speciality so I may have to post 43 different delicacies.
Mahamri from coast is like donught but spicy and very tasty.

Let him go! c'mmon he's no child. As long as he doesn't engage in acts of lawlessness, I see no reason why you should discourage him.
The country is peaceful and that's what matter the most.
There are places I wouldn't set foot on,not even for a million dollars. Some people like adventure and exploring new places, so go.
Warning: Ethiopians love and respect their culture. They don't easily mingle with foreigners. The men are very protective of their women so don't carry the naija mentality of wooing girls there cz it will backfire on ur face and if you disrespect them you will be in big trouble.

AjanleKoko: @OP - Nigerians sha, and this habit of trying to relocate to anywhere, and end up as nuisances to the people over there.
Your cousin should not go and further damage our already soiled reputation in East and Southern Africa abeg. angry

Ethiopia isn't bad. Addis Ababa is a little rustic, not an urban jungle like Lagos. But a nice place nonetheless.
I did an overnight layover in Addis a couple of years ago en route to India, so I didn't see much of the place. They are remarkably organized with the little they have, unlike Nigeria. Their airport is small but quite decent. Better organized than any airport in Naija sef.

LOL you are funny. It's okay to travel and see other regions. It helps us appreciate others.
But in our headline news today, some nigerians were nabbed at the coastal city of mombasa with lots of cocaine. Not very good developments.
But not all have ulterior motives. The one or two I know of are very good.

more ignorance.gosh
If you want to know about ethiopia, ask a person who's there.West Africans know little about EA judging from my observation here.
All I can tell you is that, it's a much better place and please forget about poverty and security crap. This is not the mj's 'we are the world ethiopia' anymore. Neither is Ethiopia, Somalia!! Some people can't tell the diff.but I don't blame them.

Ethiopia produces and exports the best coffee, their horticultural biz is booming, their national airline is the best in Africa and their women are absolutely beautiful. It's city is not noisy and crowded either and I find them hospitable depending on how you approach them.
One thing. You had better respect their culture if you go there. They don't entertain rubbish and madness.
Argh just google for info and use google earth as well.

Sports / Re: Kenyans Respond To Nigeria's Treatment Of Harambee Stars Via Twitter by pendo89(f): 1:28pm On Mar 24, 2013
What shocks me is the ignorance displayed on this thread.I never imagined that some westerners of all people in this continent could be this ignorant about the East.
The widely travelled nigerian knows East better than those who only read about it on nigerian blogs or internet.
Many Easterners also have a very negative perception of nigeria because of what is shown on media and acted by that nollywood.
What a sad reality.
People need to get out out of their zones and travel to the rest of Africa.By doing so they will acknowledge the fact that there are other developed regions in Africa, far better than we imagine.
Go out and appreciate other nations beauty and progress and the foolish pride will die. It may actually humble us.

As for somalia.argh ok you are a super power. No one disputes that.I 'd rather have an 'ugly' president who has pushed the country foward in terms of development than have no goverment at all. Isn't the peace we have in Kenya the reason you guys trek from somali?
So when you post negative stuff about other peaceful countries where you seek refuge always ask yourself. What about my country.
What do we have apart from grenades.

I am from the East, but am not dark, but a pitch black african would rather call an Easterner dark and ugly- a clear sign that you don't have the slightest clue about Kenya/East.
Just an intro,-Kenya comprises of dark communities(nilotes)and light communities(Bantus,Cushites,Arabs,Semites).
Under each of those groups we have different tribes all totalling 43. Kenya has a different cultural mix because we have ethiopians and somalis too.

But let's assume that the entire EA is black. When did black become ugly?If you think that black is ugly, get a mirror, look at the reflection and say 'damn am such ugly thing" or turn left/right and look at the person next to you then call them ugly.
This applies to anybody in Africa only.
Isn't this inferior mentality the reason why you have girls bleaching themselves silly?
The girls who win all these beauty pagents from africa are imo dark.
Please go and reedem you sorry self if you think Dark is ugly.

Keep the peace.

I thought they would score at least 4 goals as champs, but a draw on home ground is not so good.
