Politics › Re: Uyo Citizens Spotted At CBN To Deposit Cash by Penguin2: 1:50pm On Feb 15, 2023
Meanwhile, Tinubu BATstards are still burning tyres and constituting nuisance to public peace.

The ones sponsored by Folarin are burning theirs in Ogbomoso.

The ones sponsored by Omo Agege are burning theirs in Warri.

While the ones sponsored by Eleyi of Ogun are burning theirs in Sango Ota.

I’m expecting Ganduje and Elrufai group to start their own in Kano and Kaduna respectively.

That’s what they will do until February 17th deadline for deposit of old notes will also elapse and they will go deposit the money with Elrufai.

Ndi ala!

Politics › Re: Can Obi, Tinubu Or Atiku Get Over A Million Votes In Any State In This Election? by Penguin2: 1:45pm On Feb 15, 2023
wegevv:
It has happened 7 times in the last two elections.

In 2019 Buhari's APC got over a million votes in 2 states (Kano and Katsina) and came very close in Kaduna with approx. 993k. Atiku did not get close in any state. The highest votes PDP got in a single state last time was approx 650k in Kaduna.

In 2015 Buhari's APC got over a million votes in 3 states (Kano, Katsina and Kaduna) and came very close in Bauchi with approx. 992k. Jonathan's PDP also got over a million votes in 2 states (Rivers and Delta) and came close in Akwa Ibom with approx 953k.

This year there seem to be 3 major contenders in many of the most populous states. Do you think Obi (LP), Tinubu (APC), Atiku (PDP) or Kwankwaso (NNPP) can get over a million votes in any states?

If you join the FCT and the 36 states, it would be 37 then. Which means, it will no longer be 24states required, it will now be 24.6 = 25states.
True.

Maybe what the law states is that you must get 25% in Abuja too.

This shit is getting technical 🤦

Very possible.

I think it would head to the supreme court if a party wins the popular vote and meets the spread in 25 states but not in FCT. Unless INEC behave themselves and clarify before the election.
I think the FCT argument shouldn’t be my problem since Obi is sure to win there.

But what I that provision means is that we have 36 states, if you add Abuja, we have 37 sub nationals.

Now, I think what law means is that should get 25% of votes cast in 2/3 of these 37 territories. I don’t think it means you must get it in Abuja.

What is difficult in him getting 25% in Ogun state? I teach in a school where about 80% of the pupils are Yorubas. Infact I will do something now. I will ask them to write down the party the parents are supporting. I will update soon
These are for three classes and all pupils are 9+. One of them tried to write twice , that was the cancelled one. The "smartest" class of them wrote in the 3rd column.
I hope this won’t get you into trouble if they go home and tell their parents you asked them to do something like this?

I’ve been a school administrator and I know how some parents react to things like this.

Abuja is not a state nah. That's why the constitution separated it from the 36states. It says 25% in 2/3 of the states and FTC. I see lacuna in this part of law. AND and OR seems that 25% votes in FCT is equally required.
I think by AND, the framers of the constitution joined the FCT with the rest of the states. So, that provision shouldn’t be ambiguous.

You think LP is completely lost in Niger?

Based on these results they should be targeting those states as well as Niger, Osun and Kwara.

The only other state I'd pour resources into at this stage is Kano due to its huge population for the popular vote but they're not getting 25% there.
If I were part of LP strategists, I won’t advise them to waste time in Kano.

I’d rather they focus more on Kwara, Nasarawa, Kogi, Oyo and Osun.

No need pursuing a lost course.

Politics › Adjournment: Supreme Court Ex Parte Order Has Expired. by Penguin2(op): 11:17am On Feb 15, 2023
News has filtered in that the Supreme Court has adjourned the Naira Redesign case till February 22nd without a mention of their extension of the ex parte order on the continued usage of the old Naira notes.

The implication of this is that the ex parte order which was specific on February 15th being its termination date, has expired.

By this, there’s no more hindrance to CBN’s implementation of the old Naira withdrawal deadline which CBN said ended on February 10th, 2023.

With the deadline of the old Naira note already expired since February 10th, the case at Supreme Court would be a mere academic exercise by the next adjournment date of February 22nd.

And considering that the Supreme Court is not likely to rule on the matter on the 22nd, the entire journey of the travelers who call themselves governors is now a futile exercise.

Elrufai don carry this people handicap 🤣🤣🤣

If Tinubu supporters like, let them not deposit their old notes with CBN until February 17th deadline for that one expires as well. Una go use the old notes clean nyash😜.

Key takeaways according to these adjusted results:

- None of the candidates hit the spread despite adjustment to remove undecided/undisclosed but LP/Obi was the closest with 22 states as well as FCT

- LP have the most number of states where they are extremely unlikely to get 25% (dark red states). But they also seem to have the best chance of hitting the spread as they just missed it in Gombe and Kwara

- APC have the least number of states where they are extremely unlikely to get 25% (dark red states). Tinubu got the second highest spread with 18 states (including the unpolled Zamfara).

- PDP only hit the spread in 2 states in the south (Osun, Oyo and Bayelsa). Atiku had the lowest spread out of the main three candidates

- APC and PDP missed the spread in FCT. They need to hit 25% in FCT to be able to win in the first ballot

I must say I’m surprised at the numbers Labour is doing or did in Gombe.

With that said, I think 25% might be achieved in Kwara and Oyo and even Osun, in the end.

I don’t know, but something tells me Labour will do 25% in 6 Southwest states.

LP is also likely to do 25% in Adamawa. I don’t know why the poll is projecting otherwise.

Since you know what judicial precedence is, kindly use it to answer the following questions based on the claims you earlier made.

How does the fact that the Supreme Court has no business with monetary policy regulations automatically mean that it can't adjudicate on issues of monetary policy regulation?

Does the supreme court have business with landlords and tenancy? Can it adjudicate on those issues?

Can you tell me the matters the supreme court can adjudicate on and cannot adjudicate on?

If you say the CBN is an "independent body", how did it require approval from the president before redesigning the naira? Does CBN being an "independent body" exempt it from court rulings?

Does the CBN appoint its own governor since it is independent?

Is inec independent? Can an election result released by inec be contested at the supreme court? Can the supreme court overturn the result of an election conducted by inec?

What is the job of the judiciary in Nigeria?

What is "precedent for position" and what has it got to do with the above questions?

In jurisprudence, there’s what is called Judicial Precedence. It is how cases with similar facts and scenario has been adjudicated on in the past.

So, can you cite a similar case where the Supreme Court has dabbled into monetary policy regulations, whether in Nigeria, America, Britain, or anywhere?

Can you?

Tor!

What I expect the Supreme Court to do…

I expect them not to extend the ex parte order on simultaneous usage of the old notes with the new notes.

Second, I expect them to hear the arguments of counsels in the case today and rule on the matter today or at most before 20th of this month.

The Council of State has met and backed the policy, so the Supreme Court justices know better than to go against the decision of the stakeholders of Nigeria. I’m sure they’ve been told what to do.

Besides Supreme Court had no business with monetary policy in the first place.

They should have joined CBN to that case, that way when the court says halt CBN would halt by the way the case is not supposed to go to the supreme court at first it should have started at the high court then to the appeal before supreme court the governors also have abused the judicial process.
I think excluding the CBN from the suit was deliberate by the lawyers of the litigants.
