Obiano allowed his wife to mess his government up and put him in trouble. Most of the embezzlement in the government was done by his wife and her minions in the government. Obiano couldn't call his wife to order, he just allowed the foolish woman to soil his name.
Like Jonathan like Obiano…

Men who can’t control and tame their wife always have a disastrous ending.

God, may the woman I shall choose as my help not be too big for me to control.

I never said you argue against Igbo presidency. I just used the analysis to explain that religion does not guarantee good or bad governance. A Christian can go there and do the things the Bible condemns. A Muslim can go there and do all the things the Quran condemns.

I want you to explain how a Christian being the president will guarantee good leadership.

All the governors and local government chairmen in Christian states are Christians. How good are their leaderships? Is the same thing happening at the federal not happening in those states and those local governments?
We have Christians who have proven their mettle in previous positions, public or private, and they are in their numbers, why don’t we support one of them?

I’m not arguing for power to be handed to a buffoon because he’s Christian.

My argument is rather than hazard another Muslim presidency for 8 years and have Nigerian Christians agitating and seeing every action from religious prism, why don’t we avoid that by supporting a capable Christian candidate who would not only deliver but also assuage the legitimate agitation of the Christian community?

This your mentality is why people use their political positions to champion religious and tribal wars. If the leaders do well without discrimination, nobody will care about religion and tribes.

Since you claim that religion is important here, what about tribe? Going by your logic, an Igbo person should be the next president. The power (position) moved from Obasanjo to Yaradua, from Yaradua to Goodluck, and from Goodluck to Buhari. If you must consider religion, also consider tribe.
And have you seen me argue against Igbo presidency?

Your logic only inspires religious discrimination (religious conflict). The problem of Nigeria today is not because Buhari is a Muslim. The problem is because Buhari is wicked and incompetent. If the leader is rational and competent, the country will be good irrespective of the leader's religion. Stop deceiving yourself.
Granted that Nigeria’s problem today is not because Buhari is a Muslim but because he’s incompetent…

However, in looking for his successor, shall we only consider capacity and throw other variables to the discourse to the wind only for them to come back haunting us?

In looking for Buhari’s successor, we must look for capacity, vibrancy and someone of different faith.

Now, why should you insist on us focusing on capacity alone while we can easily get someone who ticks all boxes and ensure that no party or leanings of the the Nigerian project is left feeling short changed?

Well, your political permutations and analysis seem right in all aspects of the game. However, what Nigeria needs now is a man or woman with the political will and sagacity to set the country on the right course irrespective of tribe, religion or what have you. Nigeria shall be great again.
And there’s no one else who can do that except Tinubu?

You are the pretender here. You pretend to carry everyone along by advocating for Christians and Muslims to take turns in the office. You are the pretender because Christianity and Islam are not the only religions in Nigeria. What about idol worshipers and atheists? When will you give those ones chances?

Until you realize that religion and governance are distinct from each other, things will keep getting worse. Being a Christian or Muslim does not guarantee good leadership. Some Muslims have done well in the office. Some Muslims have done badly in the same office. No religion has only bad people. No religion has only good people. So, how does religion matter here?
Have you ever taken time to dig deeper into the reason why Abiola who was a Muslim and won the presidency with another Muslim was never allowed to rule?

Have you ever taken time to read why Gideon Okar led an attempted coup against IBB?

Do you know why Buhari kept failing to win the presidency in his previous tries until the stupidity of Tinubu helped him succeed in 2015?

You must also pretend to not have read why Tinubu could not become Buhari’s running mate in 2015.

All these instances I’ve given you had their remote causes from religious reasons.

If religious considerations didn’t matter, why didn’t Obasanjo choose a Christian northerner in 1999 as running mate or why didn’t Yaradua choose a Muslim southerner as running mate in 2007?

Nigeria is ethically and religiously diverse and the conduct of its affairs must reflect same. If you are arguing against this obvious national phenomenon, it shows you are an idealist rather than a realist and I can’t waste my time engaging in academic argument with you.

This post is nonsense upon nonsense. You people always ignore what matters most.

If all the past leaders did well, nobody would care about those leaders' religions.

People of different religions taking turns in the office does not mean progress or unity, it will only suit your religious sentiment.

By the way, how sure are you that Tinubu will be the next president?
If you cared to read the little piece, you would have got to know it’s a probable question.

And about your utopian argument of how the religion of leaders should not matter, I hope you would make same argument if Christians were to be in saddle for those long years?

Again, is any of the religion in lack of capable people? Would you say only Muslims are capable or only Christians are capable?

Instead of trying to pretend that religious sentiments don’t matter but capacity, how about we get capacity and religious and social cohesion by interchanging leadership between the two main religions until such time when religious considerations would no longer matter in our political discourse as it does today?
Ignorant mind, I guess only the airport and ICC you noticed, google Obiano's projects for the last 8yrs
I hope you know I’m not Afonja?

I’m a full fledged Igbo man that harbours no ill feelings towards Obiano.

But most Ndi Anambra lamented of how Willie did nothing in Anambra.

They complained of how he couldn’t even maintain the roads built by his predecessors not to talk of building new ones.

And so many other things.

After the standard set by Ngige and Obi, Obiano’s stewardship was below par save for his last minute magic with the airport and ICC.

Had he not delivered those two projects towards the end of his administration, trust me, he would have petted with pebbles at Soludo’s inauguration.
Politics › Religion: Who Will Succeed Tinubu After 8 Years? by Penguin2(op):
As Tinubu proponents continue to try to market Tinubu’s ambition to naysayers, one of the greatest hurdles standing in his way right now is his religion.

The argument is that it will be insensitive to the yearnings and feelings of Nigerian Christians for Tinubu who is a Muslim to succeed a Muslim Buhari.

But even if we were to overlook that, another question is who would be his Vice? Northern political and religious stakeholders have made it clear that the region cannot be represented by a Christian being that they are predominantly Muslims. So if Tinubu must garner votes from the north, he must choose just another Muslim from the north as Vice. That would be a Muslim/Muslim ticket and if they succeed, they are likely to rule for 8 years. Now, when you add Buhari’s 8 years, that would 16 years of Muslim rule in Nigeria.

Then comes the question of who would be Tinubu’s successor after his likely 8 years in 2031 supposing he was to win 2023. Going by zoning, power would naturally return north and the north being predominantly Muslim would naturally prop up a Muslim to take their slot. Supposing he too were to be victorious at the polls, he would go for another 8 years as is guaranteed by the constitution, right? Now, add Buhari’s 8 years to Tinubu’s 8 years to Tinubu’s northern successor’s 8 years, that would amount to 24 years of Muslim rulership in Nigeria.

These are not conjectures, they are facts as they are.

Now, does it make sense that Nigeria, a country of diverse people and religion would have 24 years of people from same religion being in charge? Is that how national cohesion and social integration would be built and cemented? Will Muslims be comfortable to have such long years of Christian rulership without causing social chaos?

So, even as it’s Tinubu’s constitutional right to aspire for the presidency, and even as we might give him credit, to an extent, for being the first engineer of the new Lagos which demonstrates his capacity, his ambition, if it succeeds, would disrupt a lot of social order and glue that holds the entity and union called Nigeria together.

To avert such disruption, it is therefore imperative that Tinubu realizes the near impossibility of the materialization of his ambition and supports a Christian Southerner to succeed Buhari rather than continue to pursue a futile ambition.

Penguin is a bird of reason!

Politics › Re: Tinubu To Sharia Council: Create Awareness Towards Producing A Muslim President by Penguin2: 9:54pm On Mar 19, 2022
This Tinubu is a big fool.

After 8 years of a Muslim President, Tinubu wants another 8 years of a Muslim president and this time with a Muslim vice.

The next big question is who will succeed him from the north after his 8 years? Definitely another Muslim northerner.

That would amount to 24 years of uninterrupted Muslim rule in Nigeria.

This is totally impracticable.

Only his urchins who are high on smelly urine would think otherwise.

Thank you for the insightful reply.

However, if Russia so valued those parts you mentioned that are peopled by Russians, why not just support their independence? Does it therefore justify Russian invasion of the entire country?

Secondly if we go by that line of thinking, then Nigeria should invade Benin Republic since there are Yoruba speakers there or Niger Republic because there are Hausa/Fulfude speakers in the country.
