Sadly the only kind of civil disobedience pple understand is burning of houses, killings and general wholesale debauchery. We have not reached there yet. PPle are acting civilized. Even all the omotor are taking things easy.

Jonathan should stop this dangerous experimentation and do the right thing. Nigerians say no corruption and yes to accountability. Bring fuel price down to N50/lit.

If you wont resign or be kicked out. Let PDP source for another Ijaw man who can do the job. We will vote for him. This one don fail. His good luck has expired.

@poster
Please don't get carried away by your own political bias, post authentic link that supports this title heading, not just a picture of some people in front of the Warri port.
All should learn to ignore posts like this by persons desperately seeking attention. You can go back home and dream about what u wish.

I'm in warri and private shops and biznesses are going on as usual, the city is calm with no major protest as seen in lagos and benin. I really get surprised when I hear news like this being blown off proportion. Major roads in warri are calm and unoccupied by occupiers.
Na which Warri be that? Not more than one in 5 stalls is open. Most markets are deserted. Schools should have resumed yesterday, they didnt. Where are u typing from so I can control Aluta to your house and neighborhood

There is barely traffic on warri streets.

In exactly 6 mths all these buses will be scrap. Dont these pple ever learn? Lots of money would have been lost in purchasing and ;maintaining' these buses. Shouldnt a leader look beyond what he is told, at the true motives behind the advise he gets.

Ghanaians have come to trust  their leaders since their last revolution when a whole class of them were lined up and shot. No such thing has ever happened in Nigeria. Now if we line up David Mark along side a few of his nay and yeh sayers we as Nigerians will begin to accept what our leaders tell us. Bc nobody want die esp when u have tasted power

Politics › Re: Would Buhari Have Tackled Boko Haram More Effectively. by Pennywise(m): 5:44pm On Dec 26, 2011
Jonathan as we speak is in a Warri church. He knelt down for Adeboye. We expect him to prostrate for Ayo Oritsejafor. Anything less is infradig

With Buhari its hard to tell considering himself is a muslim fanatic. He probably would have created a ministry for Boko Haram. So either way Nigeria at this moment in history is fu kced.

If you want to have a liveable life in Nigeria, then you have to accept bribery as a norm.

If you dont, na you go take your head carry am

If we are talking bribing the police, it doesnt matter whether u give it willingly or not bc they are going to take it anyhow. So it is better that you respect your arze.
I share the ethusiasm of all of you.

Afterall, is this not the country that cannot refine its own crude but can launch Satellites i.e Nigsatcom 1,2 & very soon 3?
A country that cannot generate enough electricity for each nationals to light a 20 Watts bulb each?

Prof BARTH NNAJI that I know (I know very well, professionally)
, an erudite scholar
, a warm nice approachable guy
, but clueless about power sector set-up
, a cheap big talking illusionist
, a profiteer, a roundtripper, a kickback collector, tax collector/ extortionist bully a la nigerian IG of police. hence a big contributor to the mess e.g taking percentage from money released to phcn for projects
, a potential gainer from selling the NEPA to the cabal @ undervalued price

After revealing all this, do I still joined the rest of >90% of Nigerians ('somnabulists') in ''dreaming & hoping'' or is it ''suffering & smiling''?
NO!!!!
Well said. But if you live in Nigeria and you are at a constant recieving end of the PHCN, you will agree that just about anything is better than the status quo. Who knows? A clueless guy might end up being our messiah.

This time, its the brand. I dont know how it came to be that I never owned a toyota. So I went after the most powerful, the most loxurious and the most sophisticated toyota sedan in the Nigerian market as recently as yesterday.

Would have loved to tell you more. But I cant I have to go back to the car operations manual while the drive is still there b/c in exactly 48hrs I am going to lose interest.
Politics › Re: EFCC Under Ibrahim Lamorde: Lie Detector Test Every 6 Months by Pennywise(m): 12:11pm On Dec 13, 2011
Lamorde has obviously been watching too much American movies.

On the other hand what he said might make sense if the lie detector can be adapted to the challenges of local Nigerian liars and thieves. And this is the difficult part because it will take a true Nigerian. We all know we are incapable of producing anything.

Business › Re: Does Fuel Subsidy Benefit The Average Nigerian? by Pennywise(m): 6:08pm On Dec 01, 2011
Wallie:
Agreed. But I have a couple of questions:

1. How much should 1 liter of petrol sell for and should it be determined by market forces?
2. How much should the JV between NNPC and a multinational oil company sell a barrel of oil to the refinery? Should the price be determined by market forces?

What my questions are alluding to is how deregulation will affect everybody. The oil sector is not like the telecom sector because the telecom sector’s product is optional and nothing is needed from the government except a piece of "paper" that licenses them to transmit at a certain frequency. The oil sector needs crude oil from the government to function and more importantly, the price of the end product has a profound effect on everybody.
I happened to have come across facts and information regarding Nigeria's oil business both in and outside NL. I dont belong to that sector.

These facts are about the variable and the non-variable factors. Some are clear and undisputed while some others are subject to debate. Now if you are keen on figures you will be amazed at how very little you know and I assume that you are an average Nigerian even though passionate about the future of this country.

Even the so-called undisputed areas are at best grey areas in proper formal business communication. So at best we can only opinionate in principle.

The working principle should be that Nigerians as citizens of an oil producing nation are entitled to priviledges. But at the same time investors should be encouraged unhindered to come into this sector
Business › Re: Does Fuel Subsidy Benefit The Average Nigerian? by Pennywise(m): 5:25pm On Dec 01, 2011
Wallie:
The first step should be fully understanding and characterizing the problem, which is why I said a detailed study is needed. Who will buy a refinery that is required to sell its output at NGN 70 per liter if the cost of crude oil is unknown?

Crude oil + processing cost + cost of loan to acquire refinery >> cost per liter of petrol
No one expects the Government to subsidize crude. The quagmire Nigeria finds itself now whether it is abt the cost of maintaining refineries (horrendous) in relation to building new ones, high level wheeling and dealing, manipulation of actual product imports in relation to what importers are being paid can all be reduced to the 10 letter word corruption. The less the govt is involved the better the   chances of a reasonable outcome. We have seen this in telecommunications.

It is for the investor like in any business to do his study and decide if this particular endeavour will be worth his while or simply walk away like u would in a pointless arguement.

What is not in doubt is that a lot of money awaits any diligent investor in Nigerian petrochemical business when the economy is fully liberalized. What we ask is allow for functional rifineries b4 you remove your 'subsidy'
Business › Re: Does Fuel Subsidy Benefit The Average Nigerian? by Pennywise(m): 4:19pm On Dec 01, 2011
Wallie:
The next step would then be to find money to build the refineries back up and once built, the subsidy can then be “removed” and reallocated to subsidizing crude oil to the refineries because Nigerians can’t afford petrol at international rate. The oil silver lining is that the subsidy to the refineries will probably be less than what’s currently wasted today!
This ought to be the first step. The refineries should be auctioned ASAP even if its at 2k apiece. Our concern shouldnt be about not getting true value from sale but finding a permanent solution to a perennial drain pipe. The purchasing owners can then figure out how to modernize and make truely productive refineries out of them.

It will be fraudulent for Jonathan to increase the price of fuel without credible measures to indicate that we can refine our crude and stop importation. This is a familiar road we have seen many times b4. Next there will be inflation and further devaluation of the Naira.

Nigerian civil societies/orgs cannot not just sit back and watch. It is time for them to prove their patriotism or otherwise justify the millions of dollars they get in patronage annually to make Nigeria livable. Nigeria should be made ungovernable if Jonathan goes ahead without these guarranttees.
Crime › Re: UNIBEN Final Year Student Gets 19 Years Jail Term For Kidnapping by Pennywise(m): 11:56am On Nov 29, 2011
All sentences will run concurrently which means he gets to stay in jail for only 5yrs. What he got was nothing more than a 5yr rustication.

Our judiciary still dont understand that kidnapping is a crime of the worst kind that deserve a different kind of justice especially when guilt has been established.
