Sonnik212: wot the Bleep is wrong with u..cant u read d passage very well before blabbing.THE BILL FOR THE AUTONOMY OF CBN IS B4 D NASS & IT HAVENT BEEN SIGNED INTO LAW.wen d bill becomes law, then d apex bank can then take action without consulting the NASS....Read d passage again for proper understanding b4 u post*smh*That a bill on autonomy of the CBN is before the National Assembly does not imply all functions of the CBN as currently specified by the existing law be put on hold. Is the CBN enjoying an autonomy today? The answer is yes and there is no law that says approval of the National Assembly is required before the restructuring of Naira denominations and issuance of new ones. For me, the issuance of N5000 notes does not have impact on the economy as issuing the lower denominations in coins. The infrastructure to enhance this is not in place at all and will be counter productive going by our belief system as a people. If the CBN has clarified so far that N5000 bill will be used in cash movement activities and other government transactions because it is not practicable to make the economy 100% cashless, then I fully agree. If it's on N5000, it worths no strenght from me but our voices must be heard on the coinage of lower denominations. |
'If you give up on the idea that your voice can make a difference, then other voices will fill the void: lobbyists and special interests; the people with the $10 million checks who are trying to buy this election' Buy election 4 America ? ekt_bear: States bidding on discos is perfectly legitimate. That the FG failed to manage an asset doesn't imply that the state government will also fail...it isn't as if the incentives for both organizations are exactly the same.Fashola is the Mitt Romney of Lagos with policies to get more money and more till the middle class is almost left with nothing (not to talk of the lower end of the populace). LASTMA and every agency run on a target which leave me asking where the responsibilities of government lies. I can't imagine a Lagos state police or Lagos state controlled power generation companies because it will be fees, dues and taxes galore with rough hundulating roads patched every other month and glorified parks that humans cannot relax in to show for it. Let the private companies run the companies please and we can easily take them to the courts for any infridgement whatsoever. |
sheyguy: Though difficult, there are many ways to tackle or atleast lessen the evils Nigeria is riddled with. The President will have no excuse if he remains a failure at the end of his tenure. Please are we at the peak of rainfalls now?? At least in the last six weeks. Were we generating over 4000MW at the peak of last year's raining season? Asking because I could not relate with the boldened part of ur post. There is a concerted effort to have improved power generation and distribution which has been acknowledged by all. All ongoing projects will be inspected this month by all the media houses and shown all over the station in Nigeria and I will appreciate if we can all be part of this exercise to draw our conclusions towards 2013. I sincerely enjoin the President to still step up his works as per building a better security architecture for the country. |
macjive01: He did the right thing; he resign as CEO and put his share in a blind trust, having said that he could still have influence contract to his company, what those that sacked him would have done was to Investigate any contract his company wins to ascertain be hiss influence it.The Nigeria populace of today will never believe the process was credible if the companies Nnaji has interests won the bid. It will be more drama than it is now and the executive cannot afford that at all. It is true the law allows certain processes (which he followed) before his companies can bid but the Nigeria factor of today will argue against that. We suspect each other in this country and that is one of our woes. |
russellino: I am really sorry for nigerians if a cbn official can come out and tell us that there can be a patent on our national currencySir/ma, did you read the reason by the CIBN guy why it was so? Just curious! |
Mr. Globe:There goes the word again 'Clueless' without objectively reading the details given by Sanusi or analyse the debates when the national assembly resumes and he briefs the house/senate. This is a country and not a polygamous settings. |
Euroclydon: The people should be assured that when they give out info, they will be protected from revenge attacks by BH...and info will flow.....i hopeA simple text message will not be harmful but I think JTF requires short code and not the long numbers. In a panic mode, these numbers can be a big deal remembering. |
Demdem: The Retardeen is basically telling us that he simply doesn't believe in True federalism. Only the wise can discern this. These are steps that needs to be taken if truly we want to achieve this. Federal police should go alongside State police and FG should relinquish a substantial sum from the centre to the states for such.I heard LASTMA now have a financial target in Lagos and you can imagine a Lagos State Police fully armed with targets. We should not hide behind this issue of foreigners policing the locals because a Lagos of today is known by foreigners than even the locals themselves. All we need is intelligence gathering by having more efficient police officers without uniforms and the job ll be done. If the guys fighting the BH in Maiduguri stay with the people and known, they will simply execute almost all of them overnight. The current structure is better. |
The headline differ from the body clearly and I was not disappointed the story originated from Sahara. It is a known fact that we are good at abuses in Naija without proper follow up/willingness to know the fact of issues. If ACN is serious, they should ask questions from the State govts involved and EFCC that detained Okupe back in 2005 for any sharp practices. Okupe lawyers have declared it is a transactional dispute which can come up in business deals world over and if the 'crucufiers'/'complainants' are not satisfied, they should seek redress in the law court. This is a serious issue and should not be mere speculations. It is on record Jona signed FOI bill into law few days before taking over on May 29, 2011 and the parties who believe in pursuing this to conclusion should do what is required. |
