The word "proskuneo" means "to kiss the hand, bow down before, show obeisance, to worship." Since the Jehovah's Witnesses deny that Jesus is God, they maintain that He is not to be worshipped. So, how does the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society translate the word "proskuneo" in their Greek New Testament in reference to Jesus and other objects of adoration? The NWT never translates the word into "worship" when it references Jesus. However, it render the word as "worship" regarding the devil, the dragon, the beast, the image, demons, idols, and an angel. Of course, they correctly translate it as "worship" when it deals with God.
Is the New World Translation biased against worshipping Jesus? It would surely seem so and especially since the NASB, NIV, KJV, NKJV, etc., all translate the word as "worship" in reference to Jesus.
What is curious is to note that the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society used to teach that worshipping Jesus was acceptable:

"The fact that our Lord received worship is claimed by some to be an evidence that while on earth he was God the Father disguised in a body of flesh and not really a man. Was he really worshiped, or is the translation faulty? Yes we believe our Lord Jesus while on earth was really worshiped, and properly so. While he was not the God, Jehovah, he was a God. The word ‘God’ signifies a ‘mighty one,’ and our Lord was indeed a mighty one. So it is stated in the first two verses of the gospel of John. It was proper for our Lord to receive worship in view of his having been the only begotten of the Father. . ." (The Watchtower, July 15, 1898, p. 216.)


It seems that as the Watchtower theology changed, they needed a Bible consistent with those changes, hence, the New World Translation.

The word "proskuneo" occurs 55 times in the Watchtower Kingdom Interlinear. Of those 55, 15 are in reference to Jesus with 40 used of others, 27% of the usage is of Jesus, and not a single reference is translated as "worship" even though in reference to the devil, demons, idols, etc., they do translate it as worship. If this doesn't demonstrate their bias, then what does?

Whenever it is in reference to Jesus, they absolutely will not let it be translated as worship. Why? Because they erringly deny that Jesus is God in flesh and their Bible reflects their bias. This is not how proper theology is done.
The Watchtower Organization has changed the Bible to suit its needs.

Talking of what really transpired in the bible, it never called Cornelius self righteous, but instead, it called him a devout and God-fearing that he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly (i.e. Acts 10:2, 22)

The whole idea of the Apostle's visit to Cornelius, was a set up and actually was for the benefit of Peter, (i.e. Acts 10:34) himself and other circumcised believers (i.e. Acts 10:45). Now would you believe that, after the floodgate was officially flung wide open for the Gentile to have a pass into the kingdom, that the apostles and other believers throughout Judea, who heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God when Peter went up to visit Cornelius, criticised him for mixing with Gentiles (i.e. Acts 11:1-2) against Jewish tradition.

The price for Salvation has already been paid, hence from why its possible that genuine altruism and brotherly love seems according to Matthew 25:31-46 to be a free pass take ones inheritance, and to enter the kingdom as prepared for one since the creation of the world. Giving is not a show of righteousness, because the righteousness that we have it the righteousness of God in Christ, so please don't get things twisted by trying to equate people's selflessness as a form of self righteous display, when it isn't. God is Just, so that sin can't go unpunished, this is why God came to earth, to DIY, present Himself, as our Lord that He is, Jesus Christ, the Redeemer and Saviour of the whole wide world, to pay the price of death, dying in our place, as the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the fallen world. Praise God. Alleluia.

Salvation, is already given for them that deserve it, and so from that Matthew 25:31-46 above, you should be able to see that if not for the salvation made available, those welcomed in, to take their inheritance, the kingdom prepared for them since the creation of the world was because of their empathy, compassion and help rendered to the needy et cetera.

It is evidenced that true and pure religion, is done as a result of having spiritual literacy! When you have understanding of spiritual things in specified areas of altruism, selflessness, et cetera, it is religion without flaw, that even God won't be find fault if done at the right time, right way and carried out remaining in right standing with God.

You remember Cornelius in the bible, right?.. The self righteous man who does good. He gives to the poor and needy. But he still needed to know Christ. The gospel of Christ still needed to be preached to him else all those good works would've been wasted.. See bro, the righteousness of man is a filthy rag before God. It doesn't matter the good things you do, the people you help, it's still a filthy rag to God as long as Christ isn't in you.

In John 6;28-29, the disciples wanted to know what work that God wants them to do. This is is Jesus replied, "Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
So you see, the only work God needs for us to be saved is to believe.

I'm not trying to downplay the importance of giving or helping the poor. In fact giving and preaching should be done hand in hand. But never emphasis giving over believing in Christ.

How a person lives their life is proof that he or she is a Christian. Only those who believe in Jesus and are depending on Him for salvation will  do the will of the Father. But notice, doing the will of God does not make a person a Christian and guarantee that they will go to heaven. That is backward theologically. The teaching of the New Testament is that Christians do good works. Good works do not make a person a Christian. Consequently, when Jesus said, “He who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter” are the missing words. He was describing the character of a Christian and not how to go to heaven...

In the preceeding verses before the one you quoted from (Matt 10:28), Jesus was telling his disciples to preach to the unbelievers. He made them to know that they'll be persecuted. And he admonished them not to be scared of their persecutors because they (the persecutors) can only destroy the body but not the soul. That passage was not to scare them (his disciples) of hell but to motivate them in preaching the gospel...

Next time when you read and passage, try reading the preceeding and suceeding passages around that particular passage so you'd know what the writer mean.. In bible reading, context is king.

You get and/or have people to know Christ from giving to the poor and needy. I remember almost 30 years ago, from the West End, I gave a lift to a bloke I didn't know from Adam. Within five minutes of picking this guy up, the guy surprised most likely he was, asked me, that am I a believer, obviously it must have puzzled him why I stopped to give him a lift. I am not one keen on blowing my horn, so I'll just stop there with that illustration or example of how empathy, compassion, giving to the poor, helping the needy et cetera does help people to know Christ.

I am witness that can attest the reality that true and pure religion breeds spiritual literacy. Religion without a fault or flaw often is an ice breaker to know about Jesus Christ and the kingdom of God

Moslems and other religious people (and even non religious people) do give help (help even some christians can't compete with). How does this their help lead people to Christ??

If giving help was all what God needed for salvation, why did Jesus Christ have to die??

A lot of people helped the poor and needy before (and after) Jesus first coming but it still didn't make them in right standing with God... You can't quote James and leave the rest of the bible in the dust.. The bible should be understood in its entirety not in its part..

In the Greek ,"airo",the word rendered take away never means "cut off".It means(to raise up,elevate,lift up,to raise from the ground,take up:stones,to raise upwards,to draw up.to take upon one's self and carry what has been raised up,to bear.to bear away what has been raised.)
And there is no wise and prudent vinedresser that cuts off an unfruitful branch.Rather he lifts it up from the ground and "cleanses and purifies it".(v3)
