Well its simple most of the revenue generated by the Nigerian government is used for debt servicing. Hence little or nothing is left to build infracstructures or pay salaries so the government needs to borrow more money and remove fuel and electricity subsidies. But removing fuel and electricity subsidy will only create a burden that will only be faced by the poor masses.

You seem to know the problem. But your solution is far fetched. Do you know how much government spend on fuel subsidy yearly? Over 140 billion every year. If they minus that from the money they're borrowing, how much will be left?

government has multiple ways of generating revenue: from the taxes we pay, sale of crude oil, rates and licences, custom duties, sale of assets, government businesses e.t.c government rakes in huge income from these various sources, only a small percent is used to pay for subsidy.

It seems you do not know how greatly depleted our revenue is. As at now, FG cannot keep paying for light and fuel subsidy, pay salaries and still build infrastructure with their current earnings without borrowing.. And even the tax, you're talking of, if FG really tax us most of us will still complain.

The thing I'm really angry at FG with is that, they're want to generate more revenue from us without reducing their unnecessary spendings..

secondly: it will causes inflation. Most goods in nigeria require fuel for transportation an increase in fuel price will lead to increase in price of goods. It is not news to you that in nigeria they is no stable power supply most business in nigeria(including banks, hospitals e.t.c) use generator to operate. An increase in fuel price will likely cause an increase in the price of services offered.

i don't know about you but i am sure if you have a business you operate or you are a family person you will surely feel the negative effects this will have on you
