Literature › Re: Is The Literature Section Still The Heartbeat Of Nairaland? by Perfecter4real(op): 11:36pm On Dec 06, 2025 |
Chidex93: Good evening perfecter4real, just as postulated and pointed out, The literature section will and still remains the heartbeat of Nairaland, it shall never die nor fizzle out. But it's revival still remains in our hands. Aside that do you also notice the dearth and Limited post of writing opportunities and competition on the section. Writing opportunities and competitions are no longer posted as rampant as before. That not withstanding, I have some words of advice to note for we writers. 1) we should always follow and stick to the basic rules of writing most especially as regards competition and contest. 2) we should be flexible and open enough to take corrections, advice and suggestions. 3) we should always seek to collaborate, cooperate as well as share ideas with each other. And lastly we should try not to be in competition with each other. If we all join hands we can revival this very vital section. It shall not die or fizzle out. But let's remember that the revival of the literature section rest and lies solely in our hands as writer. May God bless us all. You’re absolutely right. Back then, there were many writing competitions and opportunities for writers, and they happily participated. We, the readers, would vote, and sometimes the moderators voted as well. Another highlight on this platform was the inter university debate competition on Nairaland. I wasn’t even in university then, but I loved reading the submissions from each school’s representative. |

meobizy: I checked your account. Only three threads created in the literature section. How will it thrive if everyone thinks like you?
The average poster grew up. They realized this place was a waste of time and effort.
Visit the politics section. That is the true lifeblood of this forum. The second is the betting thread in the sports section. The third is the romance section, though I’ve seen a reduction in activity that way. I was mostly a reader back then. I tried my hands at writing on this platform a few times, but I never completed any of my stories, lol. Also, the internet wasn’t what it is today. These days, everyone is either on TikTok or Facebook creating content, while others are busy working to earn a living. |

Over 12 years ago, the Literature section of Nairaland was my home on the internet. It was where stories lived, where characters breathed, and where imagination felt endless. I met brilliant minds, writers whose words lit fires in me, whose creativity shaped the way I felt about storytelling.
They wrote with heart, with hunger, not for applause or reward but simply for the joy of creation. And we, the readers, were loyal. We refreshed threads at midnight. We waited for updates like oxygen. Every story felt like a gift.
Back then everything here was raw talent, no AI, no ChatGPT or automated words . Just writers, their passion, and the stories they built from nothing but imagination.
I miss that era, the rawness, the genius, the community. In those days, writers were stars. To me, they were legends. Demi gods with keyboards, turning everyday life into magic. I wanted to be like them. I wanted to write like them.
Some of my favorite writers back then left a mark on me in ways I’ll never forget. Chister’s Story School Life had me completely hooked,it mirrored so much of my own boarding school experiences and became the spark that inspired me to write my first story on this platform.
TheRock555’s Preacher’s Son was another unforgettable gem. It was a big-time favorite that kept me awake most nights, turning page after page because I simply couldn’t stop. Glowingscenes and Chocolate and Sushi had me in a chokehold, her storytelling was so gripping, emotional, and beautifully crafted that I found myself lost in every update.
Frank317’s The Religion terrified me in the best possible way. The suspense, the atmosphere, the tension, it all glued me to my screen from start to finish. And Repogirl’s False Presence? A true masterpiece. I was absolutely captivated. I loved it so much that I practically forced my younger sister to read it too,and of course, she got hooked immediately.
There are so many more I can’t remember right now, but each one contributed to the magic of that era. Wherever you all are today, I hope life has been kind to you. I hope you’re doing well. And most of all, I hope you’re still writing
It’s been years since I last logged in, and I find myself curious. Are the writers still here? Are readers still waiting for the next chapter like we once did? Is this still the literary heaven it used to be? Is the Literature section still the heartbeat of Nairaland? 1 Like |
Education › Re: Can I Still Graduate With a First Class? by Perfecter4real(m): 11:08am On Dec 01, 2025 |
AloyalNigerian: Hiii!
So, I've been meaning to do this since last year but I just kept putting it off. I'm sorry it took me this long to update everybody who contributed to this thread.
First off, I really appreciate everyone of you for your kind words and encouragement that year. It was just the motivation I needed at that time. I can still remember, clearly in fact, that night while I was in night class when Ymodolus freakied my account . I will never forget you and I really hope to see you one day.
I actually graduated with a first class last year (4.56) and the best graduating student of my department. I was really happy. Hold on. Before I graduated, I got a fully funded scholarship for my MS here in Texas and I travelled in January. God, y'all, and my first class helped me to secure that scholarship.
Even before I left the country, I was working in a 'mouthed' agency in Ikeja as an intern using the skills I learnt along the way. Last year was just so surreal for me. Everything happened so fast.
Well, now that I'm here in the states , doing my MS and enjoying every bits of it, I will say this: Whatever you find yourself doing, do it very well. First class or no first class, what life rewards is your tenacity, commitment, and attitude towards work. This is my experience, and I can tell you it's valid.
The journey is just starting for me and I intend to maximize this opportunity and put in my best to create the kind of future that I desire.
Thank you very much:

Soakaway: I'm an average student. I'm studying economics i love the country even though I'm not that good with Mathematics. I actually don't study that much cos i got no text books except for few handouts and I'm an introvert (very shy) i got just few friends that's what is making everything hell for me You can't succeed in economics department without knowing maths. I guess that's where your problem lies. I am sure most of the causes you failed are the ones with calculation. and the truth is you are going to meet more maths ahead. My advice for you is to switch course maybe to sociology, pol science, English, psychology or mass communication. |
