This is a very misleading headline and should be changed, tinubu and ribadu were never in danger of loosing their lives so why this kind of headlines to heat up the polity?.

You are very correct
Some time I read some thread I wll shout oh my God why all this. Some just refused to grow and talk sensibly it is so pathetic. Everything GEJ says is wrong and started raining abuseive word on him this is damn outrageous turning Nairaland to a tout site. Many left this nairaland because of all this sorts of insulting and abusive languages this is bad for real people need to grow and be sensitive.
My problem is what has the management of this forum done about this ugly developments which is not very good in my opinion.

Politics › Re: Neither Is My Ambition Nor That Of My Running Mate Worth Any Body's Blood - Gej by Pharoh: 8:29am On Mar 08, 2011
UYO – PRESIDENT Goodluck Johnathan, said yesterday, that neither his ambition nor that of any politician was worth the blood of any single Nigerian.

President Jonathan who spoke while addressing a mammoth crowd at the Uyo Township Stadium, in Akwa Ibom State, said his administration would not tolerate or accommodate violence either in form of religion or tribal.

President Jonathan who promised to build new refineries in the country to put an end to scarcity of petroleum products, also promised to build coastal roads and rail from Lagos to Calabar.

He said: “In the next four years, Nigeria will be able to refined all petroleum products,” adding that there will be emphasis on economic development.

The President who emphasized the need for power stability noted that without power stability, the effort to improve the small and medium scale industry will not succeed and that the administration will lay more emphasis on economic development.

He said that Nigeria must remain united and that the days of fanning religious and tribal violence were over and that any Nigerian that will be culpable of such violence will not only be made to face the law but would be seen as not working in the interest of the nation.

Vice President Sambo in his speech thanked the people of Akwa Ibom for believing in the Goodluck /Sambo project, noting that the State had given 100 per cent support to them even before the primaries and also returned their votes en-bloc at the primaries.

Earlier the State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio said Akwa Ibom State was 100 per cent for the President and that he was a symbol of transformation and hope to the people.

Here is the link and read the very first statement, another cable just came out today about the acting vice president.

I know but they claimed that the recent cables are exclusives to them so maybe they will be the one to give it out to their media outlets or should i say they have the right to first access. I will go to their site and post the exact statement they made about this exclusivity, they also claimed to have the total cables about Nigeria which was about 250,000. I do know that the initial total cable for Nigeria was about 4,600 so i don't know where 234next got this large amount of cables.

They all started very well but these days so many questionable actions that you would want to think if they have been bribed or taken sides in these whole issues. The most important thing is to figure out their motives and whose interest they are trying to serve, we never can tell but surely their credibility is not the same as before.

It is exclusive to 234next and maybe you can only find it in their printed newspaper, they also did not publish the actual original cable so i won't buy into this fully at the moment.

I think i asked a question and judging from their utterances, they are mostly concentrating in the southwest. It doesn't speak well for a party that should be national and sure i am not ignorant of the other positions they hold in the other parts of the country.
Politics › Re: Patience Jonathan: My Fellow Widows by Pharoh: 3:07pm On Mar 07, 2011
There is no point condemning this woman as English is not her language, the most important thing is the message she is passing out and not the quality of the English.

I'm just being realistic here or have you forgotten the 5-0 ignominous defeat at the hands of Barca? As far as I'm concerned, this is a meaningless record, impressive nonetheless. Do you think this record would have any meaning if it's not accompanied by trophies? The most important thing still is winning trophies.
So during those nine years, mourinho has not won any trophies?

What could be the silly reason? Campaign? Is debate not a form of campaign for sm1 with smth in his head? Check out Lagos state governorship debate and see how Fashola tells people what he has for them.

Let us start thinking so that this country can move fwrd.
The date for the debate clashed with his busy schedule and they did not have his inputs before going on with the organization of the debate. So let them fix this objections as the elections are still far away.

What do you expect from Akala when the most educated and presidential flag bearer of PDP wants 'expo' b4 he can participate in a presidential debate? This is just a clear evidence that PDP government is 'wuru wuru to the answer'; they have neither a plan or a single beneficial plan for the country and her citizen.

My problem is that Nigerians are too sentimental to see this as a warning that such people are only coming to government so that they can continue their looting. I weep for Nigeria cry
You should try and check the reasons why he declined participating in the debate.

Politics › Re: Account For $500b Oil Proceeds, Fashola Tells FG . by Pharoh: 8:32pm On Mar 05, 2011
Kobojunkie:
How sure are you that he has access to the information? The fact that we have no FOI in Nigeria, still, probably implies that states do not have access to FG data, or are you suggesting it is not the case? You say the FG has been using that money to run the Nation? $500 Billion in the past 5 years and the Nation still looks like it has barely spent $2 Billion to develop infrastructure in all that time? Federal infrastructure is still nothing to write home about, not to talk of the hundreds of lives lost each year as a result shocked  undecided
Running the nation is not only about infrastructures, there are salaries to be paid, schools are funded with that money, investments in the agriculture sector, subsidies and there are just numerous things the money could have been spent for so what does he want to know?. The FG should account for the revenue and simple they have been using it to run the nation so what exactly is fashola asking for?.  If he needs a breakdown of the figures then he can request so the FG can hand it over to him if that will satisfy his question.

Kobojunkie:
I thought you said as long as he is a concerned citizen, he can request this data? So why are you back to requesting he accounts for his part in all this when this is not about him but about the FG at the moment. By the way, are you also suggesting that Nigerian States, and Local Governments have been the ones receiving and spending the bulk of the Oil money in that time as well?  undecided undecided
I said every citizen can request and you don't have to be a performing governor to do that. No they are not receiving the bulk but the amount can be easily verified from the federal ministry of finance. i think it should be FG 56 , States 26 and LG 18 and they are huge enough for us to ask them to account for it as well. He should first remove the speck in his own eyes by accounting for the one given to him which was also one of the questions raised during the debates. He should be a good example of what he wants to get from the FG in my humble opinion.
Politics › Re: Tinubu’s God Complex by Pharoh: 8:15pm On Mar 05, 2011
Kobojunkie:
See, here is the problem with your post that I see. You are telling me of what the party does, something not sanctioned by the Nigerian Constitution or even that of the state of Lagos. At least be able to show me where the constitution allows for a party to directly hinder an elected State Governor from appointing commissioners as a result of IN-PARTY decisions?
This is politics and nothing is giving on the platter of gold, you cut deals to get the nomination and ceding your independence to appoint your commissioners is one of the concessions you have to make. It doesn't have to be in the constitution, we call it gentleman's agreement just like the zoning issue.
Politics › Re: Account For $500b Oil Proceeds, Fashola Tells FG . by Pharoh: 8:02pm On Mar 05, 2011
Kobojunkie:
^^^ Why? He is about one of the most performing of the state Governors we have. Why can he not question the Federal Government? undecided undecided undecided
Every concerned citizen can question the FG and you don't have to be a performing governor to do that and moreover performance is subjective to me as it depends from what angle you are trying to base your judgment.

He is asking the FG to account for it like he doesn't know where to go if he wants the answers to his questions. The FG has been using that money to run the nation and the state/local government also receive a part of this money so he should also account for his part first.

Clean it in what way? huh huh huh
Yes you have to clean it, remember i rebuked you for promoting google baraza on nairaland because they are your competitors. He is asking you to clean it by fixing all the issues he raised in that post. So many of us like him are very concerned about the deterioration of nairaland and we want to see changes. I showed interest in being the moderator in the education section but due to one thing or the other which i will not mention now, they have not been able to fix that place. Nairaland is going down and it should be a very big concern to you, so many banks used to come here and do one or two advertisements here but all is gone in the air now.

Seun i remember the thread you created some time ago in the general section how nairaland can be fixed and what other suggestion for service that people wants to see here. Seun you could have doubled this down to different services and some members are already doing that if you can take a look at the websites in their profiles.

But for now you need to fix this site and put it back on track.
