I have contacted a friend who trains dog as well so he will be coming here to give you some advice. |
^^ Nice analysis thanks for that and cleaning the thread as well, we will be here life to celebrate this victory. |
Tunmi:Debates are not compulsory and there are other means he can use to reach out to the citizens. The governorship debates just showed us that we clearly do not know what is a debate and how to conduct one. Anyway i like your notes about the governors debate but i think you should give credit to dosumu as well because he raised good points too. |
Lol laugh one kill me die for here . . oga USB i dey hail ooo. |
Na waoh time to stop engaging these barca fans oo, what if it is pep someone wants to stab? Anyway thank God that he is fine and okay, they should question that guy to find his motives for this acts. Violence, bad blood, hatred, racism is creeping into football and it must be tackled this moment. |
I don't know why people cannot reason anymore because they support fashola, dosumu gave very good points. For example take the issue of the revenue question, he said utilization is the problem and not the reconfiguration of the formula to favour the states more. Fashola wants word revenue or allocation but where is that money coming from if he wants the states to be independent. Most of those money they share comes from the oil producing states, so if the oil dries up then most states in Nigeria will be doomed. Maximize the use of what you have presently because it is enough, even if they give you 100 percent it will still not be enough so use the present allocation optimally simple. Fashola was just busy attacking the federal government and pdp, he was trying to paint pdp black so that he can also paint dosumu black as well. He should have just gone straight to the point and tackle the question posed to him because the present formula is okay and they should use it very efficiently simple. Same goes for the questions on the housing issue and literacy issue, dosumu and dominic gave very good points and solutions but fashola was even implying that he is still in the process of solving that :O after his first term. He wants to empower market women and mechanic to own those houses or what is the point fashola was trying to make. People should take each questions one after the other with an unbiased mind, analyze it and see the points of all the opponents so you would clearly know that dominic and dosumu clearly outperformed fashola to say the truth. |
debosky:Make osaze go sitdown for one place jare . . .na today he know say he go perform . ![]() |
seanet02:Did they approve the budgets under the same economic situation or system of government? buhari's budget was in the eighties while that of goodluck is almost twenty years after and you expect the conditions to be the same?. They both ran a different style of government and factors that were taken to make the budget during buhari's time is not the same with that of goodluck so what is exactly your point?. Most of you buhari and ribadu supporters are just jumping here and there with sentiments to everything without reasoning objectively anymore. |
honeric01:Reading from the book or spewing out what you have crammed on your head has never been my problem but the quality of the ideas you are presenting to the audience. I would rather have a good and implementable idea that is read from a book than a stupid idea that can be read to me off hand, it is not the presentation but the viability of your ideas. I am sure you can present your thesis off your head without a power point presentation, you can present your plans in company meetings without using some power points presentation. My brother it really doesn't matter if you read from a book or not to me honestly but the quality of what you are presenting. Even bush and obama makes presentations through a teleprompter or a wireless mic attached to their suits so what is all this fuse about not reading from the book. |
9ijaMan:I have better things to do with my time than posting campaign pictures sorry, you can do what you want if you have been paid for it or just doing it for the sake of your passion. Atiku was running his mouth before the primaries but he got the shock of his life at the polls, same with gani and buhari in the previous elections. The election results will speak for itself and election is not won by mammoth crowd or whatever you want to call it. The most important thing is the outcome of the election and not campaign crowd, just have patience it will be settled within the next few months. I am sure that you are not traveling so just have patience to see the results of the election then you can judge who has been trouncing who during the campaign. |
jumobi1:I saw it too and i thought maybe it was the person who uploaded the video to youtube that included those adverts but if it is channels tv then they are obviously biased. I don't know why they will allow fashola to counter argue the opponents points and not his own points, the debate organization was very very poor in my opinion. I would not go to any debate organized by channels tv if this is what they could offer. Audience laughing their ass off as if they are in their bedroom. Opponents attacking each other, attacking pdp and the federal government, fashola said so many things that was very bad for democracy but blind support will not make people to reason properly. His opening speech was totally out of order, present yourself as a candidate to the people and it really has nothing to do with your first term. They should have made the rule of not referencing the first term and speak as if you are just contesting for the first time. Telling the audience not to vote for someone going there to experiment is a very bad taste or is ribadu not going there to experiment from his own party?. Telling the audience not to vote for the opponents because they will not continue is work is also out of order but people will be blind to see all these points. I have really lost so much respect for fashola after this debate and his handling of jk randle is very very rude to say the truth. The candidates there ho should continue after this debate is dosumu, dominic and fashola and he should just forget talking about his first term and focus on the questions asked. This is not a debate but a glorified question and answer session, they should check the doha debates, the debates on france 24 and bbc to see what a debate is called. |
apoti:Sorry to burst your bubble but majority of the electorate believe in the campaign more than this useless debate. Campaigning has been used for ages in nigeria and it is the most effective way to communicate your programs to the voters. Let them come live on tv like every nigeria has access to a television and there would be electricity to watch it right?. People are just looking for cheap publicity and goodluck will never give them, debate or not every nigerian knows who to vote for and that is simple. I am sure you voted for buhari in 1999, 2003 and 2007 right or is it now that buhari became your savior?. We dey laugh . . ![]() |
dayokanu:Because they are not in the same class and debating with them will put a dent on is reputation so he better do it with people that has something there upstairs. egift:I am very sure that you will be the one to lead the battle when it starts after your usual boasting here on nairaland. I am sure you are very competent more than the president so what evidence do you have to prove that?. Why can't you join the presidential race or run for any elective post to fix the country if you are not moronic and clueless as well. |
@Babaogun Thanks for the summary and to say the truth apart from the incumbency factor which gave fashola some advantage and points to talk about he was really out of points mostly. Dosumu and dominic outperformed him in this debate and there is no argument about that, i believe fashola would have done better if the debate was organized very well. I also realized from this debate that he has not done much for Lagos state than just to build roads and one or two things. The others being some programs that favors the elites and foreign investors but more should have been done for the masses. |
I think you people should stop abusing the president , it is very uncalled for to say the truth. |
honeric01:Na real fire in those games and sad we can't have match reviews online anywhere but maybe there will be some sport programs on tv that would prepare us for such matches. Maybe stations like brilla fm or in the print media like complete sports but i don't have any information because i got no access to all these . Well let me check kickoff Nigeria and supersports website to see if they have anything for this weekend or even goal.com website. |
honeric01:What is wrong in reading from the book? people do cram a lot just to come and woo the audience. My brother it doesn't matter to me if he reads from a book or a teleprompter which most world leaders do. The goal for me is actual delivery of results and putting words into actions that would yield meaningful results. Like the poster said below, debates are over rated though it is good but not compulsory in my opinion as there are better substitutes for debates. Debates would serve the western public well where there is high literacy level and most people understand the general language. How many nigerians has access to television, can speak english or is even literate enough to understand the whole stuffs they are debating on tv. The best way of campaigning and passing your message in soceities like nigeria is to use various mediums of engagement that are very effective. Interest groups, avertisements, party meetings, nationwide campaign or just name it. There are agents also working for you to communicate with the populace in their language and level of understanding. The number of people in the informal sectors is very much greater than the number of people in the formal sector so who are you targeting with your debate?. How many market women, mechanic, carpenter or vulcanizer will watch the debate and make sense of it. How will you reach those people with a debate if not interest groups, meeting with the leaders who will in turn pass your message to the rank and file. Debate is necessary in some societies but definitely not Nigeria because the enlightened ones you want to reach with your debate are sophisticated enough to know where to get information about your programs. You guys are just trying to make a mountain out of nothing but seriously ask yourself what is the penetration level of these debates?, what segments and amount of the population can it reach. The purpose of debate is to get the electorate so there are other effective means to that simple. It is not compulsory so you guys should just drop it and vote for those you feel deserves your vote. |
dayokanu:Elections in nigeria has always been a do or die affair and should not be restricted to pdp alone, every damn party is guilty of that. |
honeric01:Yes he is a public speaker and he has done that in various capacities, conferences and even rallies if you want to factor this election campaigning so there is not doubt about that. He simply is not interested so why can't you guys get it, listen to the ones who wants to debate and choose who to vote for. Those that will vote for goodluck already know how and when he has communicated his plans to them. It is not by force to debate or what exactly is the issue here. What is the fuse about this debate or did MKO had a debate before the presidential election in 1993? same for shagari and the first republic elections. What is the benefit of a debate that cannot be served by other means, he has communicated with Nigerians on facebook, through his campaign and he thinks that is enough. Being a Phd holder does not translate to a competent public speaker, you must have gone through the presentations of many lecturers and i doubt if they all performed equally. Being a good public debater does not translate to a better administrator or manager. It is one thing to perform very well at the debate and another thing to perform well when you are actually given the job to do. You guys are just trying to make a mountain out of nothing and i doubt any one of you would even manage a local government if given the job. A good strategist picks the battle he has the highest comparative advantage of winning and he is not driven by impulse or popular opinions. |
^^ I am really worried by the way people reason and allow sentiments to becloud their Judgment and reasoning ability, try your best to talk sense into them and trust me some of them are in the comfort of their home abroad inciting rubbish here on Nairaland. |
Thumbs up for Goodluck in avoiding this debate as it is pointless and serves no useful purpose judging from the situation on ground. Debate has never translated to actual actions, it is just an avenue to boast about what you cannot do. There are several platforms to reach out to Nigerians and the Goodluck is free to choose what he likes, it is not by force to come for a debate. The others can go ahead with the debate if that is really what they want. There are better options that can be used to communicate your programs and manifesto to the voters which is the ultimate goal and not this pointless debate. |
Make them take am easy but i foresee crisis very soon in Nigeria after the elections. |
Ozin:Thanks for your post, i thought we were few that could even reason, be sincere and honest about all what is happening here right now. It is such a big shame that people could be calling buhari competent and that's why i asked him, more competent than you?. ACN could not even choose a vice presidential candidate and apart from fashola we are not hearing about any other credible people in the party. Fixing Nigeria is not by just getting your man to be president, it takes more than that. Fashola is even running his mouth here and there and not like he has even performed or done anything substantial to even deserve a second term. Anyway i am hoping this country should just divide because sincerely there is no basis for our unity or continued existence as one if we are reasoning this way. |
9ijaMan:Please can you provide evidence that pdp is renting crowds and do you honestly know why those people are supporting buhari? |
Gbawe:Competent indeed and what makes him to be competent? probably more competent than you right?. Please throw all these talk of ideology to the dustbin, we are in the era of sentiments and that's how it is going to be before we move to the next phase. I am sure everyone makes blanket statements and generalization including so you can go away as well. Infact i want buhari or ribadu to win so that we can even have peace of mind and when they Bleep up i wonder what you guys would be saying by then. Ideology based thinking to move Nigeria forward , i laugh in Chinese because it is only on nairaland you will find so called ideology based thinking while rascals are ruling the country. |
People are just supporting buhari without using their brains anymore, this northerners are not here for peace or progress. |
This is too extreme but i just pray for a lasting solution to this admission issue. |
Welcomed development. |
debosky:The top 8 teams qualify for the knockout rounds which begins in week 36, so we still have 7 more weeks to position ourselves in the top 8. |
dayokanu:You don't have to change my words or the message i am trying to pass, they can always ask about security and the economy as whole and you can see that if you read my whole post instead of just picking this one out of it. Asking questions or debating questions does not solve the problem so what is the point of the debate?. Yar adua came out with his eight point agenda but how many did he fulfill?. Anyone can come to the debate and floor the other party but that is not a guaranty that he will be able to implement all what he boasted about in the debate. You guys can vote for whomever you you deem is fit to be your president, everyone has their independent choice to make. At the end of the day a good politician picks the fight he can win and skips the fight he is not sure of winning. I for one do not believe in debate because it does not contribute anything to the solution but having a discussion or presentation session would have been better. |
9ijaMan:He is not asking for the actual questions word for word but just the questions which is same as the topic for debate. Simply we are going to ask questions about issues A, B and C, is that too much to ask for a debate or seek to know in advance?. blinx4real:Brother there are so many things in this damn country that everyone has been affected somehow and we can discuss all of them if you want to. This was the reason why i said we should not debate it, people are not coming to debate issues but adding sentiments to it with all the political undertones to it. People have been victims to accident, armed robbery, communal clashes, religious crisis, land crisis and whatever which need to be discussed so Jos is not a special case but people want to add sentiments to it. So it is not up to debate for me, we can discuss issues that includes the Jos crisis in a general form without pointing out to it specifically. I am open to every topic but people are just pointing out to those issues to score cheap political points like are those the only or main problems affecting Nigeria. Some topics should not be debated if people can keep their heads down and think objectively but because of hatred we want to debate about dwindling excess crude account and foreign reserve. Some questions are not meant for debate but just inquires that you can make to the presidency or the national assembly. Because we don't know our rights, we are putting them up for debate, we should be debating about issues pertaining to our development and growth and not these petty issues. |
fstranger3:My brother i am really tired of this analogy and i was about responding before i saw your response, no one is 100 percent perfect but i am just baffled by the outright hatred for goodluck without any objectivity anymore in the way people reason. 9ijaMan:Dude in the higher institutions, lecturers can give you the topics or parts of the course to study before preparing for the exams so there is nothing new about that. Same with waec, ssce, jamb, toefl, sat or gmat, there are always topics to study about before writing those exams. The questions for this debate are more or less topics so what is wrong in asking for advanced knowledge about those topics?. Have you ever gone to a debate without some form of advanced knowledge before?, if you have done please state it here. Can you kindly tell me any debate in this world that there is no advanced knowledge about the debate before the actual day. |
