President Goodluck Jonathan
yesterday charged the National Christian pilgrims delegation to ensure that they present a sentiment-free report after the
pilgrimage.

Speaking while inaugurating the 10-man delegation for the 2010 pilgrimage, Mr. Jonathan said the selection is different from what it used to be, as part of effort to ensure the delegation come up with ideas that will help the government to adequately plan for subsequent pilgrimages. “You must make sure that you come
up with ideas that will help us move forward, ” he told the delegation.

The delegation include
nominations from Rivers and
Gombe states; Uma Ukpai;
Mamman Alkali; minister of
women affairs, Josephine
Anenih; Olawale Emmanuel;
minister of state for information and communications, Labaran
Maku; and O.O Adekeye while the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Ayo Oritsejafor is the leader of the delegation.

The president further explained that the selection was taken to the state level ‘since they contribute the bulk of the pilgrims, so that they can monitor the pilgrims and write reports that will contain suggestions. ’ He also noted that the pilgrimage is coming at a time when the country is passing through socio-economic problems and urged them to pray for the nation and its leaders,
‘For God to give them wisdom to lead the nation right.’

The President reminded the
delegation that their
appointment is a show of the confidence the federal
government place on them.
