deji17: On a serious note. Why do you think Kano and some Northern states are having better infrastructure while Delta state that receives almost 5 times the allocation of these states is lacking in basic amenities like good roads, hospitals etc, despite having less population and land mass? Why? Should you guys not drag people like Ibori, Uduaghan etc out and shot them in broad day light? The answer is simple, why have Nigerians failed to kill their leaders despite all they've stolen from the Niger Delta? 1. Nigeria has been choosing our 'leaders' for us since 1999. 2. Constructing roads in my region costs more than in Kano or any other part of Nigeria 3. I am not from Delta state so I can't be specific when it comes to Delta state. 4. We should be asking Nigerians what they do with more than 86 percent of our resources and not the other way round. 5. If people are guilty of stealing or corruption it is Nigeria's court system that should deal with that. We don't have the power to do otherwise. I wonder why you brought this up. It doesn't seem to be related to this thread. |

You do not have to be emotionally rather you play the game to your advantage, Under GEJ you and I know that SW was heavily marginally, we do not cry all over the play. Anyways as I have advised early play the game to your advantage, do what you know is best for your region. You are free to vote against the West if you feel the North will serve your interest better. Simple To the best of my knowledge Tinubu did not contest for the presidential primaries. You further validated my point. If anyone should be angry we and our neighbours should. Did Shagari and Yar'Adua favour or marginalize the South west? How did Jonathan marginalize the South west? If anyone marginalised the South west it was Tinubu. Maybe I am not understanding what you mean by 'marginalize'. If any group should complain about marginalisation it is not the Yoruba! Not in any way. What will those of us you are feeding fat on our resources say? You guys keep on telling us to our face that Nigeria is a fraud meant to benefit the Yoruba and Fulani. |

Did Buhari benefit you? What additional benefit did Tinubu want? In the 5 years Jonathan was president neither he or his petroleum minister approved any oil bloc for any Ijaw! At least 65 percent of the oil and gas assets are in Ijawland. If not anything else, Jonathan's petroleum minister approved the purchase of ConocoPhillips Nigerian assets. If Tinubu didn't want Jonathan in 2015 he should have contested. Bringing Buhari is the height of wickedness. The most annoying one is the professor. He even tells all sorts of lies against Jonathan. It is in our interest to make a statement. Maybe next time we will all learn to respect ourselves in Southern Nigeria. Despite all the evil Obasanjo did in Ijawland and the rest of the Niger Delta we never treated him the way Jonathan was treated by your people. I hear you guys claim Jonathan did not give you lucrative positions. What lucrative positions did Obasanjo give Ijaw people in his government? How many did he appoint? If we want to move forward let's stand by the truth. Even the privatisation process under Obasanjo favoured Yoruba people. Point out people who were not qualified that Jonathan appointed because they are Ijaw! I would like to know. If your grouse with him are the Igbo he appointed. Can you accuse them of nepotism, corruption or stealing? We can't make progress with this petty mindset. As Ijaw people we've taken the nonsense you Nigerians shove down our throats. Pushed for Olu falaye, we Yoruba disliked want Obj did than even the SS, it was you Igbos that strongly backed OBJ up. For you information there is no Northerns who would not be extreme or worst than Buhari, Yaradua assuming he stayed longer, you will see how he will be radicalised to push Fulanis agenda. 2023 will be very interesting cause that is the last opportunity Yorubas especially Libral minded Yorubas are giving you Igbos to do the right thing, You have enjoyed and still enjoying all the good things in Yorubaland, but you keep antagoniaing any good thing Yorubas are planning to do for our land, Senator Oluremi called for a bill to reinvest like 10% money generated in Lagos into the Lagos Economy to better the infracture due to population pressure, SW and SS supported the bill, but SE and North rejected it. Don't give urself hope What makes you think a Northerner would fail if he has an Igbo as running mate? Some of you confuse our stance on Biafra with politics. That we don't want to be part of Biafra doesn't mean we can't support an Igbo candidate. All a Northerner needs to win is two zones from the North and two from the South. An Igbo candidate can give him that. Any Southerner contesting in 2020 will need all three Southern zones and a few states in the North. I don't see that happening, mostly if the candidate is Yoruba. |

Going by the current political terrain in Nigeria: If APC present Osinbajo PDP present Kwankwaso/Atiku
Do you think Osinbajo will not get up to 30% vote in the SS? Osinbajo will not fly! He has always lied against Jonathan and disrespected him. Anybody who disrespects Jonathan provokes millions. Atiku is a much better candidate. As for Kwakwanso, I can't tell. If many know him to be a fundamentalist like Buhari, he stands no chance. Osibanjo needs more than 30 percent in any zone in the South. He has to win the 3 Southern zones by a landslide and do very well in the middle belt to win. As for the North west and North east, in the last 20 years, no Southern politician has won elections in their respective regions. The day the South lost it was the day the South west, with the help of Amaechi worked against Jonathan. I will advice the South west to forget the presidency in 2023 and support an acceptable candidate from any part of the South instead. That's the only way they can boost their chances in the future. 2023 looks like a race between the Igbo and North in my opinion. One of both would likely emerge. I feel the North has real chances of retaining power. |

bigpicture001: Yes he can...cuz d value of the naira has both the supply nd its demand issues...
Demand side: we need to reduce our demand for for ex: hence govt uses monetrory policies restriction to control the demand for foreign currency...examples are bans on imports nd resusal to issue forex for trivial reasons...
On the supply side: statistic show than fed govt accounts for more than 85% of naija's forex incomes. Nd revenue from oil account for more than 80% of naija's for ex earnings.
The problem is that nigerians don't have enough good businesses that allow them repatriat large volume of forex earnings back into the country like MTN nd shop rite does for south Africa...
Now naija has got an international champion in dangote who has over 10billon dollars worth of investment in African nations...dangote is the only Nigerian firm that earns close to what the FG earns for the country in foreign exchange...
Now he usually sends all his solar earning to Switzerland for safe keeping or re-invest in other countries with them...
So if dangote repatraits such huge amount if for ex into the country nd the CBN allows him trade of forex. He alone can provide to a large extent, the shortages in for ex that results from our custom of demand for forex exceeding supply for for ex
Now u understand how dangote can save us. He will also drastically reduce our demand3 for for ex to its lowest by creating domestic alternative to our huge for ex demand for petrol imports...
Dangote alone can save Nigeria! Close to 90 percent of Dangote's earnings are in Nigeria. Secondly, his African subsidiaries do not earn foreign exchange yet. The refinery project still needs foreign exchange and CBN happens to be one of the sources the Dangote group gets her foreign exchange from. |

ekesol: quote author=dukeprince50 post=87223445]Before i start, i want you guys to know I have no interest trying to be tribalistic and will try as much as possible not to be.
Almost every person that visit politics section has seen opinion, arguments and debate if SS is Igbo state or not.Though saying SS is Biafra is debatable and you could be right or wrong Here is my humble opinion.
First almost every state has a geographical location designated to a tribe in the state, like there is a place for Kalabari people, a place for Ikwerre people, a place for Urhobo, Itsekiri, Akenfa, Ijaw all in SS, but there is no place for Igbo, If u think Ikwerre speak Igbo and are Igbos then that is like saying Okirika speaks kalabari therefore Okirika is Kalabari, as a matter of fact, Kalabari can't understand Ijaw but can easily understand Okirika.
2. SS does not have the ethnic make up like every other region... When you see an Igbo man, its easy to know with their fair complexion, Yoruba people got their tribal marks and a distinct face, Hausa also have a distinct face but SS doesn't, as a matter of fact I feel David ibiyeomie(Okirika) looks more like Amaechi(Igbo) than Amaechi looks like Igbo
3. You can tell where a person come from when they speak the English language... Safe for typical Ijaw man from Bayelsa, no other tribe in SS has his/her mother tongue in English but you can find it in other parts, though its a bit difficult to detect in Igbo.
4. Most people think Igbo dominate Rivers but that is a lie, Ikwerre does and not Igbo's and most Igbo's are there because two of its state shares border with Rivers, Infact 45-50% of Rivers state share border with Igbo, and also with Akwa-Ibom, those Igbo's here are immigrants and not part of Rivers, Infact there are a lot of akwa-Ibom in Rivers also, infact for every two Igbo's in Rivers, you will find one Akwa-Ibom.
5. This one is embarrassing about us but its something I noticed too. One feature about SS especially Rivers is their violent nature, While present Igbo's are actually not gonna do much to a threat and will rather bluff and tell you they could bring heaven down on earth, An Ikwerre man will shamelessly carry a machete and cut anyone in his way, An Ijaw man will carry gun as seen in the clash in Abonnema and Amassoma. more like Igbos are either diplomatic or scaredy cats, SS is violent, and when it come to that, its like most of us here have brains specially made to decorate the inside of the skull Maybe all Nigerians share this trait sha, We just too like violent and Igbo's went to war with the entire NA. so No5 is actually debatable that is why I said present SS
O boy u are a clown . Is it only ikwerre that speak Igbo alike in Rivers state. Even if u say Ikwerre are not Igbo, what about Obigbo, What about Eche/Omuma , what about Egbema, Ahoada East. In fact what is the population of Okrika. Okrika and Calabari together is just 4 local government. Igbo speaking areas are more than 10 LGA . quote me what about Opobo/Nkoro, Bornu speak Igbo even though some claim Igbani Heritage. Don't say something u don't know. OK tell me the Major language popular in Rivers state aside Igbo.. Mumu dey worry u. Even Okrika in all 13 communities, more than 6 speak and understand Igbo. Yeye dey smell Anumpam I am from Okrika and I am 100 percent Ijaw. Any Okrika man who doesn't know that doesn't know his history. Same with Kalabari or Ibani. |

You want to heap the mess you bigoted scumbags wrought on this shithole of a country on Ndigbo that last held power at the centre in 1966!? You no well!
The minorities would have been slaves to whom, and in what way!? Didn’t Ojukwu declare secession after meeting with all the ethnicities of the then Eastern Region!? I suppose said ‘minorities’ are free today and not slaves to ‘one Nigeria’ that you schmucks convinced them was a better option!? They control their resources; have pollution-free waters; have a equal shot at being president of their country....and can do two terms in office without being railroaded out of office; and have cities, seaports and airports equal in status with say Lagos and Abuja!?
What was the nature of this Adaka Boro secession you keep on yapping about!? Which ethnicities were consulted and part of the bid!? Was Ironsi acting in behalf of Igbos or ‘one Nigeria’!? By you mentioning the Boro secession bid, are you now in support of it, or is this just looking for a way to blame Ndigbo for something!?
Your homework is to go and read up on the Ahiara declaration to find out the kind of egalitarian society Biafra was poised to become! I don't remember chatting with you. I would have ignored your stupid rants but doing that will be misconstrued. Ask your fathers/grandfathers why Igbo people sent other children out of public schools. The fact that the NdiIgbo are suffering some of the things the "so-called minorities " suffered under their oppressive rule is a victory. The fact you don't know about Nigeria's first secessionist movement by Adaka Boro tells that the complexities of Nigeria's contemporary issues and her history are beyond you. If Ironsi was acting on behalf of 'one Nigeria ' he couldn't have had issues with every other ethnic nation except his Igbo ethnic nation. |

So, Ojukwu's anger was a retaliation because he didn't get Niger-Delta's support when he needed it most. Why give support to Saro-Wiwa; when Niger-Delta refused to support Biafra? You see, that was the motive.
Having said that, Niger-Delta and especially Ogoni land is still in slavery today and would continue to be because you people have refused to see the big picture. Your elites (Jonathan and co) are very greedy and shortsighted, just like you.
Don't worry, Biafra is not interested in Niger-Delta. As a matter of fact, when Biafra established, the Niger-Delta would be carved out of our map, so you all would continue to be enslaved by the North. Don't forget that. Why support 'Biafra' when Ojukwu and Ironsi crushed Niger Delta republic? Do some of you reason at all or you don't know the history? There is no way Saro-Wiwa would have apologised to Ojukwu, Ojukwu who committed war crimes in Saro-Wiwa's homeland. |

With all the herdsmen and evil politicians ravaging their country they still blame the Igbo. All the ethnic group in this country is blaming the Igbo. They swear for una. All these are all show of jealous and greed. You are dumb or ignorant! In the first place the so called minorities are suffering today, courtesy of Igbo elite actions between 1950 till date. Do your research, nobody wants to be a slave. The stupid Aburi accord Ojukwu and his associates flaunt would have enslaved the minorities permanently with no hope for freedom. If things were well, Adaka Boro wouldn't have been the first to attempt secession. Ironically, an Igbo was head of state and another Igbo was eastern regional governor when Boro led his secessionist movement. |
