Former Nollywood actress Anita Hogan has shared a lovely throwback video of herself and her late husband, Ted, on her Instagram page today, August 19.




Anita and Ted got married in 2006 and have two children. Sadly, she lost him in 2019.

A video of some men of the Nigeria Police Force helping a Nigerian man with a flat tyre along the lonely Kaduna-Abuja expressway has gone viral.




A police officer who filmed his colleagues fixing the tyre said it is not only when policemen do wrong things that they should trend.

The police officers were on patrol when they spotted the man with the flat tyre. They stopped and joined hands to help him fix the tyre.

A physically challenged man from Adamawa state identified as John Solam has claimed to have been attacked by thugs in Lagos for campaigning for Peter Obi with his automatic wheelchair.



The man who showed the damage done to his wheelchair and the injury he sustained from the alleged assault, stated that he shouldn’t be attacked for his choice.

An operative of the new Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the Nigeria Police Force has been spotted going through a young man's phone. 




The security operative carried out the act despite warnings from the Inspector-General of Police who stated that it is "unlawful" to do so.

Residents have uncovered a kidnappers’ den opposite The Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in the Central Business District, Abuja.




The den is located inside thick bush off the expressway




Security agents were said to have invaded the hideout and arrested one of the suspected kidnappers.

World record holder of the women’s 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan has qualified for the final of the women’s 100m hurdles at the ongoing Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.


Amusan raced to a massive 12.40s to dominate Round 1 Heat 3 to qualify for Sunday’s final.





The world champion, 25, will now stand a chance to defend her Commonwealth Games title, which she won in 2018 in Gold Coast, Australia, on Sunday, August 7.


To cruise to victory, Amusan must fend off competition from Jamaican duo Danielle Williams, Megan Tapper, England’s Cindy Sembre, Michelle Jenneke of Australia, and Devynne Charlton of Bahamas.

Last month, Amusan won her maiden gold and made history as she broke the women’s 100m hurdles world record at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.


She ran an incredible 12.40 seconds in her opening performance to set a new African record and Nigeria’s fastest time in the history of the competition.

Super Eagles captain and star player, Ahmed Musa has sent half a million Naira to Nigerian Olympian, Bassey Etim who was spotted around the Ajah area of Lagos, filling up potholes.




Bassey Etim, who won a gold medal at the 1983 Commonwealth Games in Malta, stated that he suffered an injury while representing Nigeria at the 1984 Olympic Games.


Musician, Oc Cares disclosed how he observed Etim nicknamed ‘Iron bar’, at a failed section of the road along the Ado/Badore road in Lagos, prompting him to reach out. 





Etim, 56, revealed that he had to spend his life savings for his treatment, claiming he was abandoned by Nigeria. 


The Cross River state born athlete said: “I sustained an injury, and when I came back, Nigeria refused to take care of my injury, so I had to use my life savings to go back to America in September 1985 to take care of the injury. 


“But I still come out to volunteer myself to give back to my country. “People are saying, ‘why should you do that? They didn’t take care of you'. 


The post which has since gone viral, attracted Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, who requested his contact. 


The striker wrote on Instagram: “How can I get to him pls.” 





In an update on Thursday August 4,  a reporter with Sports Brief , Babajide Orevba revealed Musa had sent the former athlete N500,000.




"I just finished speaking with him now. I sent him N500,000." Musa was quoted saying.

A video of convicted rapist and murderer, Uduak Akpan, trying to flee the High court after he was sentenced to death by hanging has been shared online.




Uduak was convicted by Justice Bassey Nkanang of the Akwa Ibom State High Court today August 4, for raping and killing Iniubong Umoren.






Umoren, a graduate of Philosophy, University of Uyo, was killed in April 2021 by Akpan. The deceased was job hunting while awaiting mobilization for the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme when she encountered Akpan who feigned he had a job for her. On getting to his apartment, Akpan raped her, and then killed her.







Shortly after he was sentenced to death by hanging, Uduak attempted to flee the court room.

A video of notable comedian, Alibaba, tackling Nollywood actresses and their source of income has gone viral.

Professor Mustapha Imam, a victim of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack who was released by the terrorists on Tuesday, August 2, has said that the Federal government played no role in securing his release from the terrorist's camp.




In an interview with Arise TV, Imam said his release was entirely the work of his family members.




''Unfortunately the government did not play any role in securing my release. Everything was handled by my family. I don't have any details of whether any ransom was paid. I want to stress that the government did not play any role in securing my release and for this reason I am really worried for those people that are left behind. There are currently about 34 people still left behind on that camp. The oldest captive on the camp is 90 years old, a female and the youngest captive is a one year old child.'




Imam stated that the terrorists are very organized and that the government should take them seriously. He added that the terrorists told them that they have spies planted everywhere who give them information.




He recounted the terrorists recently gave them N10,000 each so they could purchase whatever they needed. He said they would in turn give the money to the guards in the camp to help them buy soft drinks, milk, beverages, bread, or others.

A video showing Arise TV broadcaster, Rufai Oseni's faceoff with Police officers after he was stopped for using BRT lane has been shared online.




Recall that on Monday, August 1, Rufai went on Twitter to call out police officers who stopped him after he took the lane dedicated to BRT buses.


He alleged that the officers pointed a gun at him while forcefully taking his car away. He admitted he committed an offense and said he was willing to pay the fine. He was however upset at the way the officers treated him.




This new video shows him threatening to call the state governor after his unpleasant experience with the officers.

A Nigerian man has taken to social media to lament the rising cost of bread in Nigeria.




In a video he made from a shop where bread is being sold, the man said a loaf of bread which used to be about N300 is now N800. He said as it is now, Nigerians may start 'eating' themselves.

Blessing Okoro has named Nancy Isime as one celebrity who has had work done on her body but tries to pass it off as hard work in the gym.




Blessing, who recently had plastic surgery to give her a curvier body, was a guest on the Frankly Speaking podcast.




During the show, Blessing pointed out how she exercised so hard to get the perfect body like many fitness enthusiasts but it didn't work.




Nedu then asked her if she knows of any celebrity who has had plastic surgery but tries to make it look like their perfect body is as a result of exercising.

Veteran journalist, Reuben Abati, has come hard on Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, following a somewhat derogatory comment made against his person by the state governor.




Last week Friday, Governor Wike addressed newsmen at the Port Harcourt International Airport where he described the recent interview conducted by Abati and Tundun Abiola with Atiku as one filled with lies.





While speaking, Governor Wike berated Abati and said he wondered why media practitioners no longer engage in investigative journalism. According to him, he listens to and reads some of the things Abati says and writes and he begins to wonder where Nigeria is heading.




This morning, Abati took out time while on Arise TV to reply the governor. He said he doesn't know where Governor Wike was when he started the profession many years ago and that the Governor does not have the capacity and intellect to teach him journalism.

Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi has revealed that since he became the party's candidate, people have been calling the schools he attended to know if he was really a student there.




According to the former Anambra governor, he got a call from one of the schools and they asked if anything was wrong because over a thousand people have been making inquiries about his educational qualification.





Obi further disclosed during the Zoom session, that he would be adding his alumni number so it would be easier for those making such inquiries.

Suspected touts have allegedly disrupted the Permanent Voters Card PVC registration holding at the St Brigid Catholic Church Ijesha Surulere Lagos, on Friday July 29.

An alleged audio conversation between Bishop Felix Okpara and the 16-year-old girl he allegedly raped for one year has been shared online.




39-year-old Bishop Felix Okpara Duruebube, pastor of Mercy House Church International, was last month remanded at the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre by a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.





The accused person was arraigned on a two-count charge by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID).




Reading the charge, Chief Magistrate had said Bishop Duruebube between the month of April 2021, to May 2022 had unlawfully and sexually abused a 16-year-old girl.





The magistrate also said sometime in the month of December 2021, at Mercy House Church International headquarters in Eliozu, the suspect unlawfully forced the minor to take an oath not to sleep with another man or tell anybody about the abuse; otherwise, she would run made and die.




However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail by Chief Magistrate Anugbum, with two sureties in the like sum of N2 million. One of the sureties must be a bishop, while the second surety must be a relative with landed property within the Magisterial district.




He was remanded after he failed to meet up his bail conditions.





Now, a voice note purportedly detailing his conversation with the teenager has emerged.




In it, a voice is heard scolding the teenager for not bathing.




"If you don't bathe, it will make your pussy to be smelling," the voice said is heard scolding the girl.




The girl apologizes and promises to bathe and take care of her lady parts.





The girl then informs the older man that it appears "mama" is aware of what is going on between them and has warned that she will die if she continues.

While preaching in his church recently, the clergyman said with the killing recorded in so many states across the country, it is now clear that when the wicked rules, people mourned. He stated that Nigeria has never suffered as it has now in our history.

Ajuri Ngelale who is the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Public Affairs has berated PDP Senators calling for the sack and impeachment of President Buhari over the rising cases of insecurity across the country.




His comment comes hours after members of the opposition party issued an ultimatum to President Buhari to end insecurity in the country within six weeks or face impeachment.
 




Ngelale lampooned the PDP Senators during an interview with Arise TV. In his words;

''The fact of the matter is we do have challenges in this country, especially with regards to security. That is not a secret anymore but we have no interest in pretending that it is not a problem. 

But what we need in the country now, asides from an effective strategy to deal in finality with the issue of insecurity, is a thinking and intellectual opposition in the country. 

If you heard the chants, it was ''Lawan must go'', 'Buhari must go'. That is what they were saying.

We need to let go of gimmickry in this country. Gimmicks are not going to solve our problem. 

If we have an intellectual opoosition in this country, what they will be thinking about doing or working towards is even if it is to engage international security consultants to come up with a clear plan, implementable plan''




Reacting to comments that the PDP has in time past made suggestions to the President on how to tackle insecurity in the country but it was not adhered to, he said;

''What are those suggestions? Are those suggestions that the President should resign? Are the suggestions that the Security chiefs should be sacked? These are the kind of simple minded statements and solutions that don't lead anywhere.

We spent almost four or five years asking the President to sack the previous service chiefs and that if we do that, all will be Uhuru. That is what our opposition made us to believe. They were sacked, they were replaced. We began to see gains and everything. Now we are having a different sort of problem coming up.

The solution is it to sack everybody? If you go to the United States now where you have school shootings, in the malls, shooting everywhere, nobody is saying Joe Biden should resign. They are looking at what is it that should do to solve this problem.''

Some primary school pupils in Osun state today July 25, staged a protest in front of the Obafemi Awolowo University campus in Ile-Ife, demanding an end to the lingering ASUU strike.


Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU have been on strike since February 14, 2022. The lecturers are demanding better funding for universities among other things.





The protesting pupils carried different placards which read ''Don't borrow our future away'', ''I am the future ASUU make no mistake about it'', ''I am the future ASUU Don't forget''.

No fewer than 11 private jets have arrived Maiduguri, Borno state for the wedding of Shehu, son of former Nigerian president, Late Umar Musa Yar'Adua.

Shehu will today July 23 tie the knot with his bride, Yacine, daughter of Hon. Mohammed-Nur Sheriff.





 

Shehu, 29, obtained his first degree in Economics from the Schellhammer Business School, Spain, and a Master’s in International Relations from Webster University in the Netherlands.
 

The bride, Yacine, 22, holds a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom.
