EducationRe: Is Studying Engineering In Nigeria A Scam? by Philosopher1979: 4:20pm On Apr 14, 2019
THE IMPORTANCE OF TECHNICAL/PRACTICAL EDUCATION

The problem is that we have relegated technical/practical education to the background. I studied computer science and when i told my father i wanted to learn how to repair computers, he did not listen to me. Most engineering graduates consider it degrading to learn practical/technical skills. We dont understand education in Nigeria. We are just going to school to get certificate and fullfill all righteousness.

Polytechnics and technical schools are not inferior, they are just for a different purpose but most Nigerians dont get it. You can go to a mechanic workshop to learn some practicals or go to an electrician to learn practicals but this is seen as degrading by most Nigerian graduates. Also, we dont have a reading culture and only read to pass exams. If you read out of sheer curiosity, you will discover something.

Our approach to education in this country has to change
FamilyRe: Increasing Suicide — Be Careful What Your Children Consume by Philosopher1979: 2:51pm On Dec 27, 2018
I think Abdulkabir Olatunji is right. The western world is actually selling us an ideology which we dont really understand. for the last 500 years, we Africans have been trying to copy what we dont understand and this cultural imperialism is getting out of hand. We need to understand something before we copy it. I think western ideology is based on scientific rationalism, consumerism, materialism, atheism and sometimes nihilism and despair. These western ideologies need to be understood in an african context for us to be able to relate sucessfully with it. This copy cat mentality is affecting us. Ironically, we do not even understand what we are copying.
Our teenagers see american kids commit suicide but they do not even understand the nature of Western society.
Besides we need to start understanding issues as what is happiness and what can be defined as happiness. What is man's purpose in life. A man that has a purpose in life will not commit suicide because he has no job or has failed jamb 10 times. This philosophical outlook needs to be put in an African context.
We Africans are yet to define things like the meaning of life, human nature, the nature of religion, culture, western culture in an african context etc.
this calls for deep thinking and we Africans are not deep thinkers. We only see life on the surface.
Besides we worship western culture without looking at the negative side of it. Someone like Kim Kadarshian might be encouraging rape or prostitution but we refuse to admit it because the western world sells the concept of slay queen for us (something we copy without understanding)
SportsAnalysis Of Nigeria Vs South Africa (rohr Is A Genius) by Philosopher1979(op): 11:35am On Nov 18, 2018
Bafana were clearly confused by Nigeria’s shape – the fullbacks, Hlanti and Mkhize were reluctant to close down the wingbacks, for fear of leaving their centre backs two vs. two against Nigeria’s pacey strike pairing. Additionally, Kekana and Mabunda were both sitting deep against Iwobi, which gave Etebo and Ogu plenty of space to build play against just Serero, especially with the away side also having three central defenders against a lone striker in Mothiba

With the tempo of the game now much lower, and the ball spending lots of time out for throw-ins, Nigeria looked settled defensively, but also less of a threat on the break with South Africa playing deeper to protect themselves against Musa. Once Isaac Success came on for Iheanacho, Nigeria had more of a route one option and his ability to hold the ball up and draw fouls, allowed the sting to be taken out of the game even further. By the 75-minute mark, Bafana had run out of ideas and energy, and desperately needed some inspiration from the bench by Baxter. Instead, the game drifted away and possible match-winners like Vincent Pule and Dino Ndlovu were left to watch from the sidelines.
Nigeria easily saw out the game, dealing well with South Africa’s constant long passes to try to find Tau or Mothiba. Omeruo, who had struggled against Tau in the first half, barely had to deal with him in the second period and was able to rather fight in the aerial duels instead of being exposed on the ground. Nigeria saw themselves incorrectly flagged offside again in the latter stages when Musa finished past Khune, which was a goal that should have stood.

SportsStarting Eleven For South Africa Match Revealed by Philosopher1979(op): 5:00am On Nov 17, 2018
uper Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has decided on the eleven players that will take to the FNB Stadium pitch from the very first minute in Saturday afternoon's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa, based on the team's last workout on Friday afternoon.

Barring a last-minute change in plans, Enyimba goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa has been handed the goalkeeping duties ahead of South African-based Daniel Akpeyi.

Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo played alongside William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun in defense in the last workout and Rohr intends to stick to those three as well as Jamilu Collins.

John Ogu will replace the suspended Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo will take up the second holding midfield role while Alex Iwobi will continue in his favored position as a playmaker in the absence of Obi Mikel.

Rohr went for continuity in the selection of his strike-force, with Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho tipped to start in attack.

SportsSamuel Chukwueze May Play Against South Africa by Philosopher1979(op): 1:30pm On Nov 16, 2018
Super Eagles new invitee and Villarreal player Samuel Chukwueze is in line to get his first cap when Nigeria take on South Africa on Saturday in an AFCON qualifier in Johannesburg.

The former U17 star spent the first twenty minutes of Wednesday's training talking one on one with the head coach Gernot Rohr where the German tactician was seen giving detailed instructions to the player on what positions he should occupy on the pitch.

This could only suggest that the the Villarreal ace will have an important role to play on Saturday when Nigeria and South Africa clash in Soccer City.

Samuel Chukwueze came to limelight this season in the LA Liga where he has been the revelation of the season for Villarreal, starting and going the distance in three of their last four games before reporting for international duty.

SportsAhmed Musa Interview: Every Word On Preparations, Eagles Injury Problems by Philosopher1979(op): 10:34am On Nov 15, 2018
The Super Eagles will take on South Africa in a match day five Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Johannesburg on Saturday afternoon and would qualify for next year's tournament in Cameroon if they avoid defeat.

Here's what Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa said after training on Wednesday evening.

South Africa are aware they are in trouble if they drop points against Nigeria, how ready are you for this game?

''As you can see, the team we are all ready, we are just waiting for Saturday to come.''

What are the conditions in your mind, playing an opponent that defeated Nigeria the last time they met in Uyo?

''That is football, you have to play to win, if we lose it's nothing but we are going over there to win. After ninety minutes we will see the outcome of the game, so it's not that we are under pressure, they are the ones under pressure. Going over there it's like we are playing at home because there are lots of fans, so we are not worried.''

SportsProjecting Nigeria's Starting XI Versus South Africa by Philosopher1979(op): 4:49pm On Nov 12, 2018
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will seek to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with a win against the formidable Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday.

The starting line up is below

https://penaltynaija..com/2018/11/projecting-nigerias-starting-xi-versus.html[/url]

Goalkeeper

Chippa United goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi was the only goalkeeper among the three (including Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Theophilus Afelokhai) named for the South Africa game that was in action for his club over the weekend.

Akpeyi was impressive in Chippa's 0-0 away draw against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday and that could hand him a starting place as the duo of Ezenwa and Afelokhai has not been in league action for Enyimba - their club were knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Defenders

Semi Ajayi (Right back)

Rotherham right back Semi Ajayi is likely to get the nod to play at the right back position as Gernot Rohr would like to have an experienced player as back up for the duo of central defensive pair of William Troost Ekong and Leon Balogun in Kenneth Omeruo who is adept at playing at right back.

Ajayi is good defensively and going forward to deliver crosses and a good performance in the absence of injured Shehu Abdullahi could see him get more opportunities.

Jamiliu Collins (Left back)

Paderborn of Germany left back Jamiliu Collins impressed Nigerians with his performances against Libya in the double header in October and the name 'Elderson Echiejile' is fast fading away in the minds if Nigeria football faithful.

Collins' recovery rate is encouraging and is not easily get past by forwards.

Collins is a natural left back player and surely should be considered for the position ahead of 'converted' right footed left back Brian Idowu.

Central Defense

William Troost Ekong

Udinese defender William Troost Ekong will be one of the central defensive duo in the game for Nigeria on Saturday.

A consistent player for the Eagles who has had more impressive displays than the poor ones, Ekong will pair up with Leon Balogun whom he has struck a great understanding with.

Leon Balogun

Brighton and Hove defender Leon Balogun has not been playing in most of his Premier League's club's games thus far this season but nonetheless will get the nod to play at the centre back position as Rohr rarely tweaks his personnel.
His understanding with Ekong will be vital on Saturday and hopefully his lack of game time in England will inspire him to play one of his best games for his country.

Midfielders

John Ogu (Defensive Midfielder)

The Super Eagles will be without Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi due to suspension and Hapoel Be'er Sheva's John Ogu is likely to be deployed in the defensive midfield role.

Ogu's fans have been baying for a regular place in the team for the midfielder and Saturday's clash will provide an opportunity for him to justify his place.

Ogu's starting place could come at a cost for Porto's Mikel Agu who has not particularly impressed most Nigerian fans.

Oghenekaro Etebo ( Central Midfielder)

Stoke City midfielder Etebo who recently turned 23 will be the box to box midfielder for Nigeria on Saturday.

Etebo's energy and ability to keep the ball will be key in Nigeria's midfield. He is unquestionably one of Nigeria's key players.

Only injury, suspension or disciplinary issues off the field could see Etebo miss out from the Eagles. That is how important he is to this team.

Alex Iwobi (Attacking Midfield)

Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi is touted as the much sought after successor to his uncle, Austin Jay Jay Okocha.

The 22 years old is comfortable playing in wide positions which he does so efficiently at his club but considers the attacking midfield role as his best position to flourish.

In the absence of injured captain John Mikel Obi, Iwobi is the most skillful midfield player available to Rohr.

Iwobi's passes and runs in the middle will open up spaces for the forwards to do their business. The middle is arguably Iwobi's best position for Nigeria and perhaps in the future for his London club as well.
Attackers

Ahmed Musa (Left winger)

Super Eagles captain in the absence of Mikel Obi Ahmed Musa has been in great form scoring twice against Libya in October and will be influential as always.

Musa's starting place on either the left or right side of attack this weekend barring any last minute injury is a given and will definitely be a threat to the South African defence with his searing pace, nimble footedness and assured finish.

Musa has been in devastating form from the left side of attack, cutting inside to unleash shots or waltz his way to opposition goal area with his mazy dribbling skills.

Musa's 2018 World Cup form where he scored a brace against Iceland and the matches with Seychelles and Libya in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers will have fans drooling at what he could yet do again against the cocky South Africans.

Samuel Kalu (Right winger)

Bordeaux wing wizard Samuel Kalu is expected to occupy one of the three attacking positions for the Super Eagles.

Kalu has been a welcome inclusion in the Eagles following the international retirement of former Chelsea regular under erstwhile manager Antonio Conte, Victor Moses.

Kalu is another player whose speed on the flanks will cause all sorts of nightmares for the South African defenders but he tends to showboat at times when being selfless could be in the best interest of the team.

He needs to cut that out of his game. Kalu, if fit, will start ahead of Levante's Moses Simon who continues to get back to his fittest best.

Isaac Success (Striker)

Watford striker Isaac Success has been enjoying a run of games for his Premier League side of late and could start as the striker on Saturday.

Born on May 8, 2000 in Lodi, a Northern Italian town near Milan, Tonali joined Brescia's youth ranks in 2012, when his former club Piacenza officially declared bankruptcy.
The youth coaches at Brescia decided to change his role on the pitch, switching him from an inventive and creative second striker to a regista, the deep-lying playmaker role embodied by a former Brescia player, Pirlo.
In his new position, Tonali powered through the youth ranks, often playing against older opposition and making his way into the development squad at 16 years of age.
He eventually made his professional debut on August 26, 2017, in a clash against Avellino and went on to make 19 more appearances throughout the rest of the campaign and has become a regular this season.
Tonali stood out in the Under-19 European Championships last summer, leading Italy to the final where they lost 4-3 to Portugal, establishing himself as one of the brightest young players in Italian football.

RomanceReasons Why Ladies Often Fall For “bad Guys” by Philosopher1979(op): 9:18am On Aug 30, 2018
Ladies have allways liked bad guys. From campus girls who follow violent cult boys to girls
who have boyfriends they commit abortion for.

I will highlight the reason below
1. They’re more attractive It’s not your imagination bad boys really are ridiculously good looking. Research has found that people with so-called ‘dark’ personality traits such as narcissism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism otherwise known as the ‘dark triad’ of personality traits are more physically attractive than others.

2. They are more fun. A 2016 study conducted at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona showed that a number of women were attracted to bad boy types because they were considered captivating. “While they are selfish, rule-breaking, imprudent, and rebellious, they are also brave, temerarious, independent, and self-reliant and they live frantic, galvanizing lives,” said lead researcher Fernando Gutiérrez

I think North-African teams play an European/tactical style of
football and this is not a new style as the europeans are better at this style of play.
The innate brilliance and strength of the black African footballers is new to
Europeans and most european/south American teams struggle against this style of play.
In fact, i think if Africa should win the world cup, it will be one of the black African teams such
as Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal e.t.c

Iran is actually a very good team. They have a very good defense and they are well organized.
That is besides the point.
