Rohr has taken us to 55%. What we need now is a coach that will take us to 85% and above.
What I mean is winning the nations cup 2 or 3 times and getting to tje semi finals of the world cup. Players like chidera ejuke and Alhassan Yusuf should be invited to see what they can offer. We need to take things to the next level.

Imama is a horrible coach. I was scarred when he was appointed coach of the Olympic eagles and my fears were confirmed. He is a serial looser and his teams play horrible football.

Rohr is just average but an average student with 55% is better than a student who scores 10%.
Maybe Amunike should have been tried with our youth teams. At least Rohr has built a decent team. Anybody that succeeds Rohr has little work to do. HE has laid A GOOD foundation. The only thing that is needed in the super eagles are a good left back and a good play maker.

By the way Imama should be banned from handling any Nigerian team. It is unfortunate Siasua has problems with fifa but he is good with youth and home based teams. Siasia could have done a better job

That is the problem. These foreign born or European players are overrated and simply have more opportunities. The Zambian team we defeated had higlly rated players in these Leagues. Abeg make we hear word. For example, someone born in Ajegunle might be more brilliant than a Harvard graduate, he might just need a chance.

Are you sure this your Mwetu is better than Kelechi Nwakali or Taiwo Awoniyi?. It's all a question of perspective. The problem is that normally, a player is expected to peak from the age of 25 and so players develop at a different rate also some players are simply not given a chance to express themselves. For example, Kelechi Iheanacho scores everytime he plays, yet the coach benches him. Being in a good team or league is sometimes about luck.

The nff should act fast before we loose this boy to sweeden. He should have been invoted for the Olympics team. We are running after eberechi eze while alhasan yusuf is slipping from our fingers. I hope we dont regret tjis. The boy is a star in the making with perhaps prodigous talent

SCORENigeria can exclusively reveal that plans are now underway for Sweden to give Alhassan Yusuf citizenship so that he could now play for them and not the Super Eagles. The former FC Hearts midfielder, 19, has been the biggest revelation in the Swedish top-flight league this past season.

And this fact was underlined by the various awards he has so far bagged – Young Player of the year award in the league and the best player in his club this season

‘Hasse’ scored two goals in 27 league appearances for IFK this past season, but he has yet to represent Nigeria at any level. “The plans are now on for Alhassan to play for Sweden and not Nigeria,” a source close to the IFK Goteborg star informed only SCORENigeria “First, he has to get a Swedish passport and then he could play for his adopted country. “But in the end, it’s the personal decision of the player himself.”

Earlier this year, his club refused to release him for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland despite sustained pressure from the Flying Eagles.

[quote author=wayodude post=83304105]Why would Rohr be worried by the possibility of a better player coming on to displace an incumbent and by doing so improve his results and ratings?

Surely any coach, army general, tradesman etc will want the best tools available to him right?

So if Rohr has overlooked even extending an invite to his guy all through his tenure when he has called up players who were almost totally unknown to the average naija fan like sareren bazee, ebuehi, maduka, semi ajayi and most recently Solomon otabor that should tell you that whilst his selections are largely on merit there are still influences at play. We can call this the 'Nigerian Factor'.

Having said that Eze will be called up if not in the next squad it will be in the following one.

I won't argue with anyone comparing him to Iwobi at this time. Simply not worth it.

Kelechi nwakalu is better than eze. He does not have a good agent to get him a good club. It may sound far fetched but that boy needs help as he is very good

Victor Osimhen could make it at Manchester United. They are in desperate need of quality players at a cheap price. They have spent so much money and it has not gotten them anywhere. That is what i was saying. It is not every player that plays well for their club that will play well for their country. Some players just don't suit a certain pattern. That is why judging a player on club form is too simplistic and has limitations

drDoom3:
Simple! Because the current SE philosophy does not suit his style of play. Onuachu is a player that thrives in d possession-keeping team against team parking the bus. He is the kind of player you use against teams like Burundi, Madagascar, Lesotho, Benin etc. That is why he has been largely successful in Europe, because all the teams he has played for are table toppers in their leagues.
In a team that has a defensive style of play and thrives on the counter, Onuachu will flop helplessly. He does not have the frame and energy to continuously mark and chase down defenders.
Onuachu is not a bad player, just that he doesn't fit the current SE style of play.

The super eagles need creative players in midfield but ironically, our most
creative players are not playing in good clubs in Europe. We should ignore this
fact and invite players like kelechi nwakali, rabiu ibrahim and lukman haruna.
If they can offer creativity in midfield, then we are good to go.
If an Ahmed Musa who plays in Saudi Arabia or Ighalo who plays
in china can be part of our team, then rabiu ibrahim who plays in slovakia and
kelechi nwakali who does not even feature for his club in the second division
of the spanish league should be considered.
You cannot allways use club form to judge a player. It is simply too simplistic
The problem is we do not have a natural attacking midfielder playing in a good club
If kevin de bruyne or christian eriksen were Nigerian then we have no problem
We can even try chukwuka onuwa or plays for enyimba
WE NEED CREATIVE MIDFIELDERS AND PLEASE LET US GET THEM FROM
ANYWERE AS LONG AS THEY CAN PLAY WELL FOR US LET US FORGET ABOUT
THIER CLUB FORM. IN FACT, BEN IROHA DID NOT HAVE A GOOD CLUB CAREER BUT

Nah, Iwobi is critical to how we play. We have no other creative midfielder.

Even though, he had an average game against Brazil, he still created the best chance with Osimhen in the first.

Chukwuka Onuwa is a creative midfielder/playmaker who plays for Enyimba yet our coaches keep on ignoring him. The home based coach (imama) or whatever he is called is simply a dummy and totally incompetent. Onuwa should be given a chance. Perhaps he can solve the problem of lack of attacking midfielders in our national team. As bad as our league is, even the good players there are not invited to our national team.
The players being used for the home based team are NOT THE BEST PLAYERS IN the league.

I don't know what is wrong with our coaches. The young man is the best midfielder in the premier league according to local journalists and he has even received player of the year. Our coaches might have something wrong with their brain. Maybe the young man neeeds to grow abroad before we recognize him.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has admitted it would be difficult to invite Arsenal rising star Bukayo Saka to the national team because he has competitive caps for England's youth teams.

The Hale End Academy product was there for the taking until he became provisionally cap-tied to England after featuring for the Young Lions at the 2018 UEFA European Under-17 Championship and has also played competitively for the U19 squad.

It took a long while before former England youth internationals Ola Aina, Victor Moses and Sammy Ameobi were able to switch nationalities, and Rohr fears Saka would suffer the same fate if he decides to play for Nigeria.

The Nigeria Football Federation have attempted to woo Chelsea duo Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori and the English Football Association quickly stopped them in their tracks by handing call-ups to the Chelsea duo for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

''On Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, it is not easy to invite players who has played already for England or other countries in the U-17, U-18 and U-20 categories,'' Rohr explained to Sporting Life Nigeria.

''It is very tedious and requires long processes to do so. I could remember that it took us one year before Ola Aina’s issue was resolved before he was cleared by FIFA and was eligible to play for us.''

The 18-year-old Saka has played eight games for Arsenal's first team since his debut in November 2018, scoring once and providing three assists.
CHIDERA EJUKE IS A BETTER PLAYER THAN BUKAYO SAKA. HE IS ALSO A WINGER AND PLAYS FOR HEERENVEN IN THE DUCTH LEAGUE. WE DO NOT AND I REPEAT WE DO NOT NEED THESE FOREIGN BORN PLAYERS.
IN FACT CHIDERA EJUKE IS CALLED THE NIGERIAN INIESTA AS HE IS VERY SKILLFILL. WE NEED TO START APPRECIATING OUR HOME GROWN TALENTS IN OUR YOUTH COMPETITIONS AND ACADEMIES. IT IS RIDICULOUS SCRAMBLING FOR FOREIGN BASED PLAYERS. THEY SHOULD BE AN AFTER THOUGHT AND NOT THE MAIN THING

Mansurah Abdulazeez discusses how her visionary plant research could help in fight against tumours

In her own words
"We have screened and confirmed the cytotoxic activities of extracts of the drumstick (Moringa oleifera) and soursop (Annona muricata) trees as well as the native Nigerian shrub Peristrophe bicalyculata on cervical carcinoma and fetal lung carcinoma cell lines. We also studied what anticancer mechanisms these plants exhibit. We found that these plants act in the body through a variety of mechanisms — there is no single mode of action for all plants."

Mansurah Abdulazeez is a molecular biologist at the Center for Biotechnology Research, Bayero University Kano, Nigeria. Her research aims to identify potent anticancer agents in African plants. Last November, the government of Spain awarded her their Science by Women Fellowship. And in June, she won a Nigerian National Research Grant of N31 million (US $86,000) from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund. The journal Nature asked Abdulazeez about her life and research.

I beleive that Victor Osimhen will win the African footballer of the year in less than 5 years.
His talent is underrated and he seems to me a more skillfull version of Rashidi Yekini or maybe more
of Patrick Kuilvert. He is strong, tall, skillful, intelligent and fast.

Moses simon is actually better than we think despite the criticism against him.
He is good at crosses and corner kicks and up to a year ago (just before the world cup) one of our best players in attack
Even Okocha said so. In fact, he allready has two assists in this nations cup.

Former captain of the senior national team of Nigeria Austin Okocha has praised the abilities of Super Eagles winger Moses Simon when it comes to delivering corner kicks into the box.

The Levante man has provided two assists for Nigeria at the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with the last one coming in the game against South Africa where William Troost-Ekong netted what ended as the winner from his delivery.
Okocha while speaking on the talent in the Nigerian team said it’s nice to see a player who can whip in balls into the box for players to meet before mentioning why Simon takes corner kicks that are hard to defend against.

SportsSuper Eagles Lineup For South Africa Tie by Philosopher1979(op): 3:27pm On Jul 10, 2019
The lineup of the Super Eagles for their quarter final game against Bafana Bafana of South Africa has been exclusively revealed

Gernot Rohr maintained the 4-3-3 system that turns into a 4-2-3-1 when they are defending. However he has made two changes to the starting lineup.
Jamilu Collins is back in the squad and will play his first game after recovering fully from the groin injury that has kept him out of the team. He will take the place of Ola Aina in defence.

Aina is the only change in the back four with the trio of William Troost-Ekong, Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem keeping their spots in front of goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi.
In midfield, Rohr maintained same trio with Wilfred Ndidi playing as the defensive midfielder and Oghenekaro Etebo will occupy the central midfield role just behind Alex Iwobi who will once again play in the number ten role.

In attack, Moses Simon who started in the win over Cameroon in the round of 16 makes way for the man who substituted him in the game in Samuel Chukwueze who will operate from the right with captain Ahmed Musa keeping his spot on the left.

Lineup :

Kenneth Omeruo
Oghenekaro Etebo
Wilfred Ndidi
Alex Iwobi
Samuel Chukwueze
Ahmed Musa
Odion Ighalo

SportsFive Takeaways From Nigeria's Hard-fought 3-2 Win Against Cameroon by Philosopher1979(op): 10:24pm On Jul 06, 2019
1. Bassogog And Njie Swapped Places

The duo of Christian Bassogog and Clinton Njie started on the right and left wings respectively but later switched places as the left footed Bassogog had difficulty dealing with Nigeria's right footed left back Ola Aina.

The Nigerian defender was primed to deal with his shifting of the ball to his dominant foot.

The switch seemed to worked a trick as the Eagles were troubled.

2. Sloppy Defending By The Eagles

The Eagles were put under tremendous pressure by the Cameroonian attackers and that forced some calamitous clearances by the Eagles' defenders.

3. The Wings Remains Nigeria's Best Option

The pace of Ahmed Musa and Moses Simon, and later Samuel Chukwueze, proved to be a huge advantage for Nigeria.

It proved that the Nigerian team have many match winners and having nine attackers might be blessing in disguise despite criticisms from some Nigerians.

chukwuka Onuwa of enyimba can add creativity to our midfield and link defense with attack. The fact that he is home based is the reason noboy rates him highly which is foolish. Kanu nwankwo used to play for Iwanyanwu Nationale and Ahmed Musa used to play for kano pillars. We need to give him a chance.
We need to encourage creative young talent. Our fixation with European football is destroying our team. A player does not necesarily need European football to be good. Mohammed Aboutrika (an Egyptian player) never played in Europe yet he was a very good player.
We need creative players and not just "stars" and big names
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Philosopher1979: 5:49am On Jul 01, 2019
We need kelechi nwakali in that team. He is a good attacking midfielder. Players like lukman Haruna and rabiu ibrahim should have been invited for the friendlies to see if they are still good. The team lacks attacking midfielders and creative players. The problem is the players we need are not playing for top european clubs and we make this mistake of thinking that once a player is not in leicester he is not good. We even have an attacking midfielder in our local league (i have forgotten his name). The creative side of our game needs to be worked and this fixation with European football needs to end.

I also suggest that we need to play with two attacking midfielders and not one. I mean kelechi nwakali can compliment Iwobi in midfield so as to increase our creativity. Our Journalists need to celebrate creative players and not just wingers and goalscorers. The team is not technically balanced. Also, there is a strange dependence we have on Mike Obi which is outdated and based on his performance in 2005. This is dragging back our football. Having the best striker in the world is useless or limiting if you do not have creative midfielders. Players like kevin de bruyne and lucas modric are needed in this team and NOT players like Gabriel Jesus. You dont get good tires when the engine of your car is not working.

Football is about technical depth and balance and not star players. We have lacked creative players since Okocha and this is psychological. We often REFUSE to invite creative players into our team because of "Mikel Obi mentality". This loss is a blessing in disguise. Rohr should have learnt. When the team played with Iwobi as an attacking midfielder for a year, we played well.

We are wasting Kelechi Nwakali right now because he does not have a good club. This is funny. WE NEEd CREATIVITY IN OUR MIdFIELd.
at least for now, iwobi and maybe chukwueze should be encouraged. At lease, they are the most creative players we have. Mikel is a defensive midfielder/deep laying playmaker and NOT A PLAYMAKER. We need to get over this Mikel mentality. If not, he should be dropped. Egyt has won the nations cup with home based players. There is an urgent need to search for, encourage and groom creative players for our national teams. If not even Ronaldo will not help this team. Just look at Juventus in the champions league with Ronaldo.
