Business › Re: Businesses You Regretted Doing & The Ones You're Glad You Tried by PHIPEX(m): 1:09am On Apr 03, 2012
When I was in my final year and writing my project an idea occurred to me, The dept demands atleast 4 copies of binded project from each student. The cost of printing each project will be atleast #400 which means that I will spend about #1600 in printing my project. I called 8 of my close friends and told them that it will be cheaper for us to contribute #1000 each to buy a small printer which is sold for about #6,500, use the remaining balance to buy paper and ink. the idea was that it will save us the stress that is associated with long queues at biz centers during the time students print and submit the projects. My friends aggreed but they said they don't have money with them then so I volunteered to finance d deal so that they will balance me later. Unfortunately, the day I bought the printer, it developed a minor faults and all of them left me and ran away, they said I bought a fake product grin grin grin. I felt very bad, knelt down and asked God not to allow me regret trying to help friends, after that I decided to find a solution to the problem. When I repaired it I decided to commercialise it because a further idea occured to me which was that if an individual student is to spend an average of #1500 to print his project then since we were about 180 in class, the entire class will spend (180*1500) #270,000 for their projects alone. To cut the long story short, The printer was repaired, the seller introduced me to cheap refillable ink that I used in printing. I launched into printing Term papers and projects at the comfort of my room and my innitial target was to print the projects of about 40% of my course mate. Two months later when I graduated, I had a NET PROFIT of about #30,000. My only regrets was that the idea did not occur to me early enough maybe while in second year who knows I would'v been able to pay my school fees.

I passed this exact info to an undergraduate who is still in school and he calls to share testimonies smiley grin Undergraduates take note

Kobojunkie: As I was saying . .

Washington is GOVERNMENT of A COUNTRY and one country influencing another Country is Politics. However, World Bank is an organization that is government by rules and regulations that are not easily bent.

I would really like to know how you expect a World Bank President draw more investment into Africa? As is World Bank already invests the largest in African Countries. Many of our systems in Nigeria today already depend, and have depended on the World bank for decades as is. So believe me, I am curious as to learn how exactly you expect the world bank to take on the role of Government in Nigeria/Africa.
Imagine a situation where the WB is considering the citing of a major economic project and the option was narrowed to between Chile, Nigeria and Malaysia and Madam NOI heads the board that decides which country gets it, what do u think will be the final outcome? What benefit do u think the North has by having Sanusi as the CBN Gov? Remember that both the CBN and the WB have similar structure. No matter the rule governing these organisations there are usually internal board-room politics that come up when decisions are to be made some of them through voting.

Family › Re: She Said My Father Touched Her. by PHIPEX(m):
andyanders: Poster, you need to speak to your Dad ASAP. Also, be careful sending her out as this could trigger her spilling the beans as people would want to find out from her why she was sent back.

This is a very delicate issue. You said you are married. You need to take the girl possibly to stay with you while you try to help her go through this by counselling her. Note that people advising you to send her away, is not helping matters. She needs to be watched and also put her through in life. Let her know that you were able to handle this as a victim.
Your father, I am sorry needs to be counseled because he has mortgaged his respect in life as far as this little girl is concerned and if you fail to do this, he will go out of control and carry out his act on other minors.
I believe that once d man is aware that his secrets are now public knowledge he'll desist from further attempts. Taking d girl away may result to a collateral damage because many people may one way or d other demand to know why she was sent packing. She may also grow to hate d family if she is taken to a less comfortable home or environment, moreso such a decision must require d full knowledge of d OP's mum if she is around. Confiding in u means she expects u to talk to ur father, if she wanted to leave ur house she would'v left without telling anyone why. Don't betray her trust.

If she has sincerely repented as she said who are u to condemn who God has not condemned. Mrs Coldfeet am happy that u'v repented as u said, I can only tell u to go and sin no more, continue to share ur story cos u never can tell who among those demonic girls has repented of their evil acts through ur tragic life story.
Education › Re: JAMB University Enrolment Figures Are Shocking? by PHIPEX(m): 2:43pm On Mar 31, 2012
This statistics has been very consistent over the years. To crown it all the surge in this JAMB figure affects the Admission cut-off points for students from these states especially in Federal institutions in the East. I was once puzzled when I discovered that my dept in UNN back then had this kind of cutoff for admission. Anambra 270, Imo 265, Enugu 250, Kogi 230, Benue 237, etc. Which means that it is even easier for someone from other regions to gain admission than a South Easterner in UNN. Its a great development and "I have a dream that a time will come when it will be easier to meet a graduate trader in Alaba and Onitsha main market than an SSCE holder"
NYSC › Re: Was The New Nysc Posting Policy Fully Implemented? by PHIPEX(m): 9:16pm On Mar 30, 2012
RuuDie: Except am not getting the jerk of the policy correctly. . . it appears to have more de-merits than merits - I mean, it seems illogical - because what the policy appears to be doing, is cutting down on the number of jobs and options available to corps members. Given the rate at which the population of corpers increases annually, shouldn't they rather be increasing the potential areas of posting for corpers rather than reducing it!?
What you call job oppotunities was a situation where few fellow corpers who believe they are connected secure juicy jobs while serving in such companies not because they are more qualified but because other corp members are still "serving their country in a village" wink. On the otherhand some got posted to companies such as banks, got used to meet targets and dispensed with afterward.
NYSC › Re: Was The New Nysc Posting Policy Fully Implemented? by PHIPEX(m):
lumideezle: @ pipEx u are a very shallow thinking individual I hope u dnt get go make policies bc with plp like u making decisions and thinkin like this, only God wld help Naija. Did u even serve @ all, did u go 2 sch? If u did u wld understand that even with the former system many corp members do not get PPA z they end up doing their own biz and look 4 letter head every month 2 submit @ their local Govt.Do u know that companies exp banks etc employ up 2 70 percent of corp members in d major cities? This has nothing 2 do with a level playing field. The policy is not a sustainable one bc simply put there are not enuf schools n hosps 2 employ d amount of corp members the NYSC turns out every year. If they really wanted 2 make this policy first develp d Agric, and hosp system 2 b rouboust enuf 2 accomodate these corp members then go ahead witth your policy. Least I forget over 50 corp members were rejected in lagos in front of me @ d min of special duties aka lagos state schools simply bc they do not have space 4 these corp members.
I love ur questions and for ur information am a Batch A corp member posted to a rural community in Ogun State unlike u who is in Lagos, my concern is that u don't come to a public forum like this and pull up baseless statistics cos we are all learned enough to querry ur source. For instance how can someone who is posted to a school in Ikorodu conclude that over 70% of corpers in Lagos were rejected? My own experience unlike urs is that we were about 20 that went in search of our PPAs and of that number only 2 were rejected so Should I conclude that over 80% of corpers in Ogun were accepted? U don't just look at d side of policies that doesn't favour u cos for every public policy in any country some people must benefit while some others may not. D question should be the number of those who benefited against those who did not. Cheer up, it's just 1yr!

Obiagu1: In my opinion, she is naive or trying to be a "heroine". What about similar schools in Akwa Ibom or are there none like that?
Why waste the money in a state that produced two heads of state?

I commend her for her good heart which should have been a gold standard but similar things are not done in the East by those serving there.
Charity begins at home!
Did they tell u she used her personal money? As a corper ur trained on how to source for fund in d community u are posted to better their lives which is what she did excellently. Can't believe her mates are in the other thread crying for not being deployed to NNPC headquarters. She deserve a national award IMO. Great men worldover see opportunities where others see nothing bt problems.
NYSC › Re: Was The New Nysc Posting Policy Fully Implemented? by PHIPEX(m): 2:40pm On Mar 30, 2012
Obiagu1: Very good. Everyone should be given equal opportunity for employment after NYSC.
The trend has been those that served in those places of choice often get retained while their colleagues with no connection that served in schools and other not-so-good places get no jobs after NYSC.

This will level the playing field for all, at least to an extent.
Good job Brig.-Gen. Nnamdi Okore-Affia.
majority of people who feel frustrated by this policy are people who influenced their posting to choice states only to be deployed to a rural community to teach intergrated science. Imagine someone who worked his posting to Abuja thinking he will serve in NNPC only to be posted to a village. lol. May God bless whoever brought this policy. Anyone who claim there is upto 50% rejection is simply lieing cos he probably has not come in contact with more than 1% of corpers posted to his state. By the way there has been even before now so if ur are rejected u simply look for another opportunity, best of Luck to u all! Thank God Corpers will no longer be serving tea in National Assembly.

I doubt if he will inform d SSS of his dealings wt BH and they turned around to arrest him. LadyT: Is that the best you could come up with cheap personal insults? you really do not want to start what you cannot finish.

You really think true intelliegence is measured by studying text and cramming it and then answering a set of SET questions with a set answerhuh
Where was I when she was doing her studyinghuh Probably in my mothers womb. And not chasing some rich boy maybe there was what your mother was doing when NOI was busy getting her credentials I dont know please ask her.

That is not intelligence. You have not addressed any of the points I bought up such how could you even dare claim she spent 4 months on a budget where the president spends 1billion naira on food!

We dont care about the world bank we are concerned about Nigeria and the task at hand.
I don't engage in faceless warfare bt I find your reaction very funny, if u felt this bad by my comment how come u lost all respect for a woman that is old enough to be your mother? (U can go 2ru ur comment again). That some persons are public officeholders doesn't make them public slaves. One thing I know is that respect is reciprocal if u want to be respected then learn to talk to others wt respect. Make u no vex if u think I insulted ur ego. Moreso if u say the issue is about Nigeria alone then u hv missed the bigger picture, its nt just about Nigeria bt about Africa, its about developing countries, womanhood and general change in status-quo. Let's nt allow a mere subsidy debate rob us all of this bigger dream else we may all endup as "pennywise and pound foolish"
Politics › Re: A Strong Case For NOI World Bank Presidency by PHIPEX(m):
LadyT: Please let's be serious for a mintue. NOI is the definition of incompetent let's cast our minds back to the fuel subsidy drama. During the interrogation at the senate or wherever is was. I watched NOI live state that her first 4 months in office were spent doing the budget so she had no clue about subsidy cabals etc. someone who claims to be educated spent 4 months signing off one of the more greedy corrupt inexcusable budgets known to man. She is a useless entity maybe it's the puff puff in her cheeks giving her problems I don't know. But it would be a big insult to every Nigerian for NOI and the word development to be used in the same sentence.
I didn't want to respond until I noticed that ur a lady who instead of being happy that for once someone of ur gender is being tipped to lead this great institution is busy with hatred and deceit. Where were u when she was gathering her credential? I guess u were busy targetting d richest boy in ur community to befriend. Pardon my anger but this discuss has truely opened my young eyes further to the saying that an enemy at home is more dangerous than the enemy without. Very soon another urgly news will emanate from 9ja and we all will as usual blame d international community for portraying us in bad light. How much of d Korean do u know to believe that he is better than NOI if not hatred?

See people dieing of inferiority complex, I don't care if she wins or not but atleast her name is currently on the world scene. The only thing some of these people complaining have to their name on the web is their facebook account. Who cares if you celebrate her or not, the world already know her worth, a woman whose pedigree is giving America headache is certainly not a pushover. It is not about paper qualification but knowing the job. If you think she is nothing, go and apply to be a messenger at the world bank and see if you'll not be chased away...haters!

collinsfbi: Left to me, if I'd be given an opportunity to vote, I will surely vote against her. Looking at her role for the past years most esp during subsidy protest, it shown that she's filled with selfishness, deceitful tongue and egocentric ideas, already she has failed Nigerians and I believe if she becomes WB president, she will not only manipulate us with deceitive tongue but will surely end up selling Nigeria as a whole. Only gullible Nigerians most esp blind people from her tribe will support her or probably those who stand to gain through her

Gbammm over and out
Thank God such opportunity will never come your way cos u'll allow economic ignorance, personal bias and pull her down syndrome to ruin a golden opportunity to developing countries the world over. Do you think those that nominated her are ignorant of all she did during the subsidy debate? They probably know she was right even though it was a painful pill for us to swallow.

This is more of d case of a prophetess being without honour in her homeland, we can now see that good things can still come out of this country. If developing countries can rally round our finance minister for such an exalted office even when she did not vie for it then she is good indeed. The questions we should be asking are; is She entitled to hosting fellow regulator from other countries in such a hotel? My answer is YES. Does a plate of food cost that much in that hotel? I still answer YES. This is a DG that regulates the likes of Dangotes and Otedolas with investments in trillions of Naira and some of us are complaining of hosting her guests with 91k. This is far less than d amount some companies spend on a lunch with their Contractors. It's either some of us are insane or incredibly stupid. I don't envy u one bit. I knw what it's like to have that feeling of being in another person's house. It's ur husband i blame and not you or even the in-law.

Your hubby should have made sure every1 understood his role in the house. And for those saying household chores are strictly meant for women, UNE LIE OOO!! If you've ever lived outside 9ja, like some of us, you'd know that in the developped world, everyone contributes as much as he can either financially or physically.

My advice is that you call an educated/respectable old inlaw of yours and narrate the story. They'll give you sugestions as to how to manage this crisis. Your marriage is too young for u to be dealing with inlaws and their wahala. And if it doesnt work out, u'll have to choose to either live unhappy for as long as it'd last or return back to 9ja. He'll come for u when he's ready and when d coast is clear if not, u probably weren't meant to be togeda.

Sam Milla:
@baby.me
her location says south africa. I went to her profile when i read the original post to check on other posts she made on this forum. Such things usually help my judgement. Altough i saw where she posted nigerian phone number asking people to call her to buy blackberry phones but then someonne who lives in south africa can always return home. So based on her location , i assumed she lives in RSA. My main issue here is that she is trying to self destruct. If she succeeded in alienating this brother inlaw, she will have to live with a divided family forever. So i had to be hard cos thats the only language people understand. I have nothing to gain here rather i want her to understand that it would be better to make peace with this boy instead of showing him that she is the trophy wife of his brother constantly tells her to keep quiet,  Someone must be parrot.
stildude:
Op, I sympathize with you. It is really a tough situation you are having to cope with. However, I believe the law of cause and effect is being applied here. How do you feel sincerely about the boy. You may be attracting animosity because that may be what you are giving as regards your relationship with the boy. Try to make friends with him. It is a common saying in most part of naija that when you marry a man, you marry the whole family. Your husband may have noticed that you are not showing enough respect to the boy that is why he is not taking your complaints seriously. Try to look at the things you like about him. Draw him close and you'll be surprised how he will change. Don't impose domestic duties on him. I agree with you that as an adult he should be cleaning up. take it slow. Also, I think initially you were very close. There must be something you did, maybe  you reported him to your husband - his brother that got him angry with you. You may have to apologize to him. If you love your husband, I think you need to make amends with this guy.

I am a male and a husband, I respect my wife,  and we've been married for some years now. I may not take it lightly if she treats my younger brother badly should he be living with us. She senses that, so she is always in good relationship with my folks, even when there seem to be a problem between them and me. They like her, especially my parents.

Every time we feel the other person is the problem in any quarrel or situation, let us look at our self first. If we do that sincerely and always, we won't have much problem with people. If things don't change with this guy, pray he leaves sooner than later, and in the interim, endure and pray!
I am tempted to agree wt d posts above and some others. We can't completely say she is lieing but having lived wt relations while growing up I know that there maybe some part of the story that is missing. Kicking the boy out of your house may sound very good now but it may be the worst mistake of ur marital life if care is not taken. He is a student wt limited time to stay wt u, if his upbringing was faulty, the least u can do is to help amend his behaviours as much as u can for the few years he has to stay wt u. Considering that u just entered the family, it will not be advisable to cause enmity btw the brothers cos u never can tell the contibutions the family may have made in the life of ur husband before he got to South Africa. Take time to talk to the young man not by insulting and openly rebuking him cos he may be tempted to prove to you that he worths more than you think.
