DrAwo:You're welcome. But since you have read the books wouldn't it be better if you could simply tell me? |
kolaish:These are the theoretical answers provided from your links. No one can give a simple answer in their own words without providing a link? ![]() |
DrAwo:Thank you for advising on a book that offers strategy on how to invest in stocks that increase in value. However, it hardly answers the simple question: what makes a stock significantly rise on the NSE? |
Zagee:I think the government should in general get involved in the country's importations. No longer directly giving dollars to importers. |
PETERiCHY:I sold to buy later. I agree with you; based on a sudden call for the liquidation of UBA, shareholders should set their sights somewhere around N100/share. However, you've set your sights at an exit price of N60 because that scenario is different to what we have now which is simply based on quadrupled profit growth. But let me ask you a question that is intrinsic to every Investor/Trader: What makes the price of a stock significantly rise? |
PETERiCHY:Mine also arrived this night but already sold all my UBA last week. Will do a quick transfer Monday morning to buy more Oando. Then will follow that fresh newbie into the stock he mentioned by week ending. And I still think I will be in time for twice as much UBA! And I will not wait for N30 will come down way before. |
mikeapollo:Apparently their Friday aspirations got dashed |
Iamblessed85:Take note, everything ever created always involves the masses... ...but for the creator. |
PETERiCHY:@N60? So when is the payment date? I sold all my UBA by Friday last week! Hopefully will buy twice as much when its time comes. Or may decide to buy something else that offers to be more remunerative during that time |
chimex38: ![]() Well what I am trying so say is that the day of independence meant nothing but a dream for the common Nigerian, a member of the masses. Back then before October 1st 1960, we could divide the nation into four factions; the first - the British; the second - the Nigerian political elite and their associate economic elite; the third - the military and the fourth - the masses. So on the day of independence the factions became 3 as the British handed over to the Nigerian political elite and their associate economic elite and left. So what was the reason for the immediate jubilation and celebration on that day? Till today the masses don't realize the true reason. So October 1st 1960 they, the masses, saw their leaders dancing and celebrating and shouting; "Independence! Independence!!" and so they joined them to dance and celebrate on the streets also shouting "Independence!". But if anyone had asked them why they were dancing and celebrating they would have told the person a long story of how Nigeria was going to be this and how Nigeria was going to be that and how they in turn would live in opulence like their former colonial masters. Something they claimed would come to pass one day in the future - in other words they were celebrating the hope for the realization of a dream. Although, some of them were just dancing because they saw others dancing. Now if you had gone to meet the leaders at Ikoyi where they were dancing and celebrating inside the inner chambers of the majestic opulence left behind by their former lords and asked them why they were celebrating they would look at you with suspicious wonder and a bit of annoyance and say to you; "o ri ran ni"? And add " Can't you see we have just inherited the palace, can't you see we are now in charge of the entire national budget, can't you see we have been put in command of the entire military force. Today, not tomorrow, not anytime in the future but today, October 1st 1960 is the day we, the political elite and our associate economic elite literary become independent of our masters; to live and act like they did. Is this not a day to remember? The day when we became masters?" And they continued celebrating and dancing. |
wanaj0:Many Nigerian's still don't realise what 'Independence' actually meant on October 1st, 1960. |
PETERiCHY:Why should we pay N16.40 for UBA when we can get it lower? |
Phlinx:IT IS A GAME. And the sooner it is realised the better for the person. I understand one wants to say "I am an investor, I have investments in certain companies". That is fine - to carry yourself proud in the presence of others. However the worst thing that can happen to any person is that he lies to himself or herself. Cause you see after telling people you are an investor, you must look in the mirror and speak the truth that you are a gamester. That you constantly attempt to game the market - which to buy low and sell high or to enter the stock of a company at the right time to receive the maximum ROI on dividend offered. There is nothing wrong in realising you make money from playing a game. In fact the acceptance of this realisation makes you a better player. |
RSQLPython:Pls be careful how you handle your money. Putting money in the NSE and holding the mentality that you are investing is a big mistake. I am not saying you cannot If you want to put your money in something and go away for ten years, maybe you can look to NASDAQ and buy shares of a viable technology company this is far better than the NSE. However, this too IS NOT AN INVESTMENT! |
ImperialCovfefe:Exactly what crossed my mind. They are only good at reporting doom and gloom |
Geregu is going to make an announcement... |
Willie2015: ETB offered me at 3.5 percent and I balked |
But I think this is eventually bad for Investors in the long run because if the whole work force goes broke and hungry who will buy goods and services? |
Redoil:Type "mercy" |
BullBearMkt:Hmm...another pair of goggles needed ![]() cc Agbalowomeri |
pluto09:Nse is the game.. |
ebuka1997:It's like FO showed you serious pepper! ![]() You just have to learn to play the game. and the game is up and down, down and up ![]() |
yMcy56:Going back to 20 when dumper stops. Then what? higher or lower? |
Wapgod:From an EPS standpoint it is NOT massively overpriced. If it is then Dangcem @245 is massively overpriced not to talk of Buacement @50.85 which would be mega-massively overpriced. And don't forget Mr Otedola owns 95% of Geregu, while Mr Rabiu owns 92.3% of Buacement. So if Mr Otedola decides to play the same ball as Mr Rabiu then even with the current market bear Geregu still has some upside and this is based on last years result when Geregu releases H1 of this year and you see N15B in half year profits what would be the market reaction then? Also looking from the dividend standpoint the dividend per price of share of Buacement gives Geregu share price tremendous upside. |
Mpeace:I believe they paid N37.6 Billion |
yMcy56:Where are you these days? ![]() |
Heishere:They paid N15 dividend this year |
safepaulooo:If the stories are real at all then they both are basically from the same house. No. 2 needs No. 1 to place all the blame on while he remains blameless. He also needs chaos lots of chaos so that when he comes he will find employment! Have you ever wondered if the world was peaceful, progressive and happy whether we would need any saving? Precisely my point! So his agents run around ensuring chaos, a final systemic collapse and hopelessness of the population who at this point are desperately eager for anything to get out of their painful predicament so they accept a new system created by the very agents of chaos and headed by our surprise visitor in the clouds who happens to show up at the right time to fulfill his destiny. |
Slimdove:And I bet there are some people who bought at N5 and saw it go to N10 and still believed it would go to N15-N20 in a couple of months time due to the euphoria in May. Quite similar to WAPCO really. Some advising others to invest in WAPCO even when the stock was N30? They would advise that WAPCO is not INTBREW so invest in WAPCO but at what price? Even if one invested when WAPCO was N5 then goes to up to N25 only for it to come back down to N5 in a couple of years time then you call this an investment? I call it a TRICK a GAME a LIE. This is not investment this is outright gambling! This is a fact |
omg ![]() I thought WAPCO was a darling, I am currently on a 12%+ loss |
Neverlosemoney:It's about experience. |
