EducationRe: GEJ - 100 Top Student Brains To Be Given Scholarships by PhysicsQED(m):
What's the difference between WAEC and JAMB in terms of subject matter tested and is JAMB more or less like the SAT in America/the west (for those that might be familiar with all three)? I feel like I might have asked this question before but i need to refresh my memory.
EducationRe: GEJ - 100 Top Student Brains To Be Given Scholarships by PhysicsQED(m):
ekt_bear: It depends on what assumptions I'm allowed to make. People typically assume normality (or approximate normality) for things like exam results, IQ, SAT, etc. So assuming that I'm allowed to make these standard assumptions that everyone else does, then yes, it does follow.
Perhaps my comment was a bit vague or unclear. What I mean is, a few percent difference in numbers of barely competent or barely mediocre students produced between states is unlikely to translate into a significant difference in either the quantity or quality of the few very highest achieving students produced between states. When one is talking about high achievement on an IQ test or the SAT, it seems clear that there are already large/significant differences in achievement between certain populations when it comes to numbers of average or below average performers to begin with. This does not seem to be the case here.
EducationRe: GEJ - 100 Top Student Brains To Be Given Scholarships by PhysicsQED(m):
Edo state at one point had the highest (or perhaps more accurately, the least terrible) WAEC scores on average.

But I don't know about JAMB.

ekt bear: Therefore, the trend is likely to persist at higher thresholds.
I'm not sure you have enough information to assume that it would, really. At the level of say getting 320+ or whatever is considered a high score, the number of people will be so few that it's unlikely that a significant difference would exist based on edging out other states by a few percent in numbers of barely competent or barely average students.
By the way, and this may be a silly question or something that should be obvious, what does column c represent in the spreadsheet you posted? Are columns f and d supposed to add up (along with the numbers from other cutoffs) to equal column c?

Thanks for the links. Anyway, I don't think that for the best few students in a country what you posted about barely passing to barely average scores on jamb will be particularly relevant. There will likely be little difference between groups in the south at the more high achieving end.

ekt_bear: https://www.nairaland.com/725471/2011-jamb-utme-data-state

In particular, look at the statistics of those getting above 170 on JAMB by zone.

This suggests that SW indigenes perform better on average on at least this particular standardized exam than other people do.
Can you provide a link to the original source of the information on that naijapolitics forum?

That refugee lifestyle messed this kid's brain up. He's just too dumb.

After getting bitchslapped and man handled viciously for 8 pages, he starts asking people if they'll concede defeat. Reminds me of the black knight from that monty python movie.

@ ekt bear
I don't know beforehand whether there is or is not some significant unrepresented population on NL and I don't know whether a group actually would go from being 1/3rd to 1/5th upon the inclusion of many more groups. What I do know is that there is no particularly strong reason so far to assume that there isn't such a population, so I asked why you were going with that assumption. On what constitutes normal behavior I think what I said earlier constitutes very normal behavior so if we're not going to agree on that then we're probably just not going to agree. On that example of yours I don't see why it has to be 250 of one group. It could be about 10 of 25 groups in 25 separate events (or a smaller number from more groups than 25) that leave the thread upon not seeing their particular group there. Of course the actual number of views of this thread (minus repeated views from the same guests or members) may completely rule that out as an explanation, but it is certainly more plausible in a hypothetical than the '250 of one group leaving the thread without a note of ethnic group identifying protest' scenario.

I don't want a link to "your" Facebook page, I just want the bullsh1t to cease. Goodbye and try to change your ways.

Go make up a Facebook profile and link it here. Quickly now, and don't disappoint. We both know you've had a lot of practice at lying and deception. Smh.

I'm done wasting my time on you.

Stop rehashing the same lines. And I am not any kind of supremacist. The issue with patriot2 is his definite fraudulence, not whether the Edo claim we are Yoruba or not or others claim we are. And Oshiomhole is Etsako and claims it.

Peeing on money found on the floor prevents one from turning to yam? huh

What Nigerians believe that and why? Sounds disgusting.
PoliticsRe: Yorubas Are The Best In Accommodating Strangers In Nigeria - By Sam Omatseye by PhysicsQED(m):
What does any of what you just claimed have to do with anything I posted?! If I accepted that Edo is Yoruba how would that change the fact that you still are not Edo?

Fvcking shameless lying goat. You've convinced nobody and you never will.
PoliticsRe: Yorubas Are The Best In Accommodating Strangers In Nigeria - By Sam Omatseye by PhysicsQED(m): 12:41pm On May 23, 2012
@ patriot2 the fraud. In the future, come out openly and claim Yoruba from the very beginning and don't claim another ethnicity which you are definitely not. Fvcking shameless loser.
PoliticsRe: Yorubas Are The Best In Accommodating Strangers In Nigeria - By Sam Omatseye by PhysicsQED(m): 11:44am On May 23, 2012
This patriot2 guy is playing the exact same game that that amosy007 fraud was playing. I don't get it - why are such individuals so cowardly and fraudulent that they have to put up a fake identity and lie about their ethnicity? And why can't such miserable little demons comprehend how infuriating it is to the people of the group that they're lying and pretending to be from that they're claiming that group? Fvcking devils.
PoliticsRe: Nairaland 2012 Ethnic Census by PhysicsQED(m):
ekt_bear: Well, you are assuming that there is some significant, unrepresented population that also refuses to identify themselves.
And you seem to be assuming that there isn't. Why?

If I came in and my group wasn't listed I wouldn't bother to identify myself or post in hopes of starting some spontaneous running tally in this thread of members of my ethnic group. I would just leave. The assumption I'm making is that this is standard, normal human behavior and is what most people would do.
PoliticsRe: Nairaland 2012 Ethnic Census by PhysicsQED(m): 5:30am On May 23, 2012
Well I see what you're saying and I don't oppose the reasoning but I'm just wary of assumptions in general unless the justifications are really convincing so I had to make that point.
PoliticsRe: Nairaland 2012 Ethnic Census by PhysicsQED(m): 5:06am On May 23, 2012
My point is that we don't know beforehand that Angas or Ogoni plus all the other ethnicities omitted only represent some miniscule fraction of nairaland's population just as we didn't know beforehand that Isokos would be overrepresented relative to their size or that Hausas would not participate in the poll in even moderately reasonable numbers. It's mere assumption. From the poll results so far we can see that Yoruba is 1/3rd, Igbo is 1/3rd, and all the rest whether including or excluding Hausa make up about 1/3rd as well. But for all you know if you include several more Isoko and Itsekiri types of groups these ratios of nairaland's (not Nigeria) composition/poll participation may change. And I'm not 'complaining' since the survey has no real consequences for the site or for anything to begin with, I'm pointing out a problem with the ability of the census to provide accurate estimates of the composition of the members of the forum. What if what you previously announced as 1/3rd is really more like 1/5th? I'm sure I'll be dismissed as a nitpicker but I just felt that I should provide a caveat/criticism before the poll is over and the estimates are considered final.

Gopher mouth, I don't have anymore time for you today, so post your response, go choke on Turkish d1ck as you're wont to do in your free time, and don't expect a response anytime soon.

ayanle456: An ape saying i dont have critical thinking. Stupiid slave
The same Somalistani bucktoothed donkey that wrote 'imparesed' to mean embarrassed intentionally more than once in another thread is here talking about critical thinking. Very simple and basic words are a challenge and you're talking about critical thinking.

The same dunce that claimed that Somalis fathered the rest of humanity is replying me about critical thinking. Good to see you didn't deny studying some easy sh1t and lacking basic scientific literacy. It shows in your posting so no one would believe you if you tried to claim otherwise.

Mouths like gophers, forehead like a beluga whale, body like a twig, and pre-pubescent little boy voices - this is the group of people mouthing off about their supposed superiority.

@ Sam Ikenna, Ohio State is a good enough university but with an unimpressive name and in an unimpressive state hence its relative obscurity. Not even near the top of the 'second tier' but not some sort of backwater third tier university or something. I also suspect that he's studying something like sociology or religious studies or something easy as well because he doesn't come across as someone with basic science literacy or critical thinking skills.
PoliticsRe: Nairaland 2012 Ethnic Census by PhysicsQED(m): 2:37am On May 23, 2012
I don't see how the fact that 90% of Nigeria's population is represented by those groups listed up there changes the fact that the poll is not necessarily a good indicator of the ethnic composition of the users on the site. For all we know there could be 3 or 4 times as many Ogoni users of the site that are willing to vote as Jukun users, but an Ogoni might not see their group listed and just exit the thread. Isoko is not larger than or significantly larger than Angas (that is not listed) and see how many votes Isoko got - nearly half of those of the entire Ibibio-Efik-Annang group put together.

Alright. That's understandable. Anyway, this thread is getting repetitive so I'm done with it for now, although I'll return if I see more lies and delusions being passed off as fact.

Of course it was a joke, but what I find funny instead is that you didn't rebut the "mall vendor with no serious administrative or business experience" statement although you were willing to state what your university was to defend yourself. grin grin You might not be a mall vendor selling trinkets out of a stand in the center of the mall but whatever it is you're doing in that mall before assuming the presidency is so insignificant that you're not proud of it.

@Bluetooth, if you logout and look at the thread again you may be able to see the votes for the other sections. There are 32 votes for Bini and 20 for Ijaw.
