I agree with you.. the attractiveness of a woman like a spectrumappeals to different spectra of men

There is a man for every type of figure and vice versa

This thing killed Claudia Aderotimi who left from the UK to US to do this

Liveair: Hmm, instead of "woman right activism", women should be teaching themselves Proper SELF ESTEEM.
I totally endorse this

The first while important should have been accompanied with the latter.

Self Esteem and being beautiful the way you are

soulglo: Thank you. This is the funny part. It is actually a borrowed culture for Nigerians too. Before this was introduced to Nigerians people were referred to as the daughter of this or that or "she came from that compound" etc.
Can you name the parts of Nigeria that this happened to be so present colonially

Maybe in the North not sure of the South
Family › Re: My Husband Insists I Remove My Maiden Name From My Name by pickabeau1: 6:36am On Jul 25, 2014
Good.

Now to bring it home
Among the Yoruba and Igbo the ladies take the name of the husband
Nomenclature changes from the daughter of soso to the wife of nono
Whites brought Mr and Mrs.

It is not a borrowed cultures as some erroneously try to state on this forum.that is a classic straw man used every time.

One of then even went to bring a source to show otherwise yet the book shows it.

EnlightenedSoul: - Asian countries like China, Cambodia etc. The children take the fathers name, the mother keeps her own.
- South Asian countries tend to go the double name route. Canada is big on the double name thing too.
- Some Hindu groups keep their surnames.
- Belgium and certain other Europeans keep their surnames. Bosnia.
- Arab cultures (patriarchal) also keep their surnames in tact.
- Most matrilineal African cultures.
- Some Patriarchal African cultures do the same. The ones I know about are all Horn African cultures, but I'm sure there are others. Perhaps someone can help me out.

My S/O is Eritrean, and they keep their maiden names. Same with Ethiopia. My own culture too (Somali).

Growing up, when someone would call asking for my mom referring to her as Mrs.*Father's Surname*, she would make it a point to tell them that there is no such person, and would go on to correct them with her own "maiden name".

In actuality, to us there is no such thing as a "maiden name". The idea is foreign. Your name is your name period.
Family › Re: My Husband Insists I Remove My Maiden Name From My Name by pickabeau1: 3:13am On Jul 25, 2014
EnlightenedSoul: There are many cultures where it's customary for the woman to keep her name. I'm glad I don't have to change it.

They should have discussed it prior to their marriage. What happens now depends on them both.
Can you name some of them..

Habeebpain: I think it's childish when you start comparing heroes from two different franchises. I can write the story as I want. I'm just trying to make money. If I start analysing now you'll be surprised to learn that flash is stronger than hulk. And Silver surfer will thrash Thor mercilessly. But see how they downplayed Silver surfer in The fantastic four sequel.

Some people even believe Goku is stronger than Supes. Na dem sabi. Anybody can write down what he wants and give power to his/her characters as they wish.

Marvel has done amazing live action movies but they've flopped in the animated movie section. See iron man and hulk: heroes united.
DC on the other hand have made amazing animated movies (see The dark Knight returns part 1 and 2) but have flopped in some movies ( Green Lantern). I disliked Ryan Reynolds for ruining that character.

Another point is the Villains. DC has got more realistic villains than Marvel. I'll give Marvel only Joker to deal with. Your heroes will cross the line between good and evil.

As for me, my favourite super hero is Batman. He's the only possible one that can exist. Plus I think Nigeria needs one.
Correct analysis

Now you read comics... Not these movie fanboyz

like, why did they pansy-out mandarin's xter?

i mean, mandarin was badass in the comics, not a British speaking, epl watching, wimpy has-been actor.

no power from his power ringshuh?? Comon!!!!

i get get they wanted to attract more audience than the geeks at comicCon, but the deviation from the comics by marvel is excessive
Yes they did

A man has earned respect the day the woman said I do.that's why the decision to say I Do is more serious for a woman than the man.

Greeting should not be an issue but respect is respect.

@5minsmadness

You left out one category of posters always proving points up n down

Those who have cultivated an online persona of being married when they really are not.

Don't mind our resident pantie sniffers..
They will get kiss emoticon from the ladied....

Forget all these single ladies and those married females who come online to type long epistles because they feel oppressed in their matrimonial homes due to no fault of ours and find Nairaland as a place to vent their frustrations. Many of the married ones will never admit it but they will even kneel down to greet their husbands in their homes then come here and start spreading like peacock. The single ones shouting are still single for a reason. They are either small girls or they are old babes who have no respect and no man worth his salt will go near any of them for a serious relationship-hence their singleness.

Romance › Re: Money And Sex, Which Is More Healthier To Attain A Successful Marriage? by pickabeau1: 5:10pm On Jul 24, 2014
Donbrig: Money and Sex are two vital factors in every marriage. Severely lacking any of both could spell doom in any marriage, no matter how the man or woman pretends to love each other. Most women married to wealthy men often cheat due to lack of sex, but a marital life with adequate sex and money is not always a ritual. In my own case, in spite of my high level of sexual performances, my wife sometimes (jokingly) reminds me of the need to work harder to enable me perform very well in my financial life, as in my sexual life. Although my finance is not at its best at the moment. Now my question! Money and Sex, which is more healthier to quarantee a long term successful marriage?
Such generalisations hold no water
TV/Movies › Re: Thread For "Marvel Comics" Fanboys And Fangirls by pickabeau1: 5:06pm On Jul 24, 2014
This thread should be named Marvel Films Fan Boys

I expected discussions on the key storylines

The Sentinels
Venom/Carnage
Hulk Vs Thor /Wolverine and the Hulk vs Banner Split

If you are talking of story lines

DC is still up there

InfiniteCrisis
Doomsday and the Return of Superman
Batman: Halloween
Green Lantern: Emerald Knights and Darkest Night

Marvel makes good films.... I love both of them

Any fans of Deadhorse?

Batman vs Predator..

5minsmadness: If you don't know something, ask.
My team handled a similar case 2yrs ago. The only difference was that the woman had issued a statement of divorce which the husband did not honour at the law court. And she dud not take anything that belonged to him, that worked in he favor as well if not social security had already started bundling her back to naija.

The second case av been involved in, the woman left her doctor husband for the US, carried her marriage certificate, the children's birth certificate, the proof of ownership of the car he bought for her and the children's and the husband's visas, and finally the deeds to the family land. We simply made copies, reported the originals as stolen, sent her name and what she had done to authorities in the US and also places where she was most likely to visit, along with signed copies of the documents stolen.
She was deported in three weeks.

Over the years, they should have known that the Jews have superior fire power with the world powers clandestinely behind them. It is a lose-lose situation for the Palestinians.
