Hazardous materials have a specific list. Even in the nurse report she said sharps were left behind. Which is a discrepancy from what the doctors said. According to the doctors only waste matter was left behind. Anyhoo I think this trend is fast becoming one of hate and unnecessary slandering. Nursing is a respectable profession and one that is vital. No one is disputing this. So mutual ward respect is key. This trend is specific to the occurrence that occurred and the nurse on duty was wrong for her actions no matter how it is looked at. Could all parties have handled it more maturely; yes. Could the fact that they were both women play a big role in how things turned out; yes.

That was not hazardous substances. The doctors stated that they discarded all sharps. What is left is materials for scrubbing. Guaze, blood and so on. There is nothing hazardous about it. It is because the doctor in question was a house officer, I know how nurses try to use their might on young doctors as pay back. Why not lock up a reg or consultant. As a Dr is operating, anytime he finishes with any instrument, the standby nurse will take it from him and keep where necessary the same way they are handed instruments at the beginning of surgery. That is the procedure. After surgery, the theater cleaning staff will come in and do their job.
Cleaners who clean the theatre are specially trained. Not your average cleaner.

Fear Nigerian nurses oh. Most went to school, but school did not pass through them. They took the learning and not the character. Them don shout for me shege, I fear them pass police. Doctors on the other hand can form too. You can't be a boss to another professional, it not done. Do your job and let others do their job. Dentists are the worst, they never support Medical doctors until it's time to contest for CMD, NMA chairman or wage increase.

Exactly...sometimes this year, a sharp managed to get its way into the orange bad and pricked a domestic staff while she was packing. Well it was a huge incident here, it was cascaded to hospital governance team and see mails flying everywhere.

Majority want to enjoy abroadlike care in naija but we don't want to put in the commitments and humility that makes it happen.
