frosbel: Jesus's mission certainly was not to prepare the way for another bogus and morally inferior 'prophet' , talk less of bowing down 5 times before mecca..... what !!! , they prayed in Jerusalem not Mecca.

In fact I will go ahead and call your scholars thieves, stealing stories from the bible and adding Gnostic fables to form unbelievable and concocted stories bordering on comedy. grin
The original thief is the one after he misunderstood when Moses said GOd will send a man like himself to the Israelites, knowing that Ishmael is half Abraham and half Arab, He now drawdown His plan. And this plan worked for Him because it has to work to fulfill bible prophecy of *False Prophets*

If the Catholic church has not promoted the idea with Interfaith doctrine and went as far as to state in the catechism that the Muslims worship the same God as Christianity and therefore will enjoy the same salvation equally. You Muslim would have gotten no room claiming Biblical prophets to be Islam, Even when Islam arises after the death of all of Them. It's sad to know that an internal body of Christ thinks it doesn't matter if one is a Christian or a Muslim and that one can find salvation through either religion.
I think this idea shows the God of the Bible is confused, and this is contradictory.

wordthots: @ Bidam, I don't think frosbel is goin to backdown n listen to you.
My prayer is that the Holy spirit convicts him before he does any damage to the body of christ.
Knowledge truly puffs a person up with pride, but love edifies.(1cor 8:3).
As believers its very essential to walk in love even when pointing out to things we think are wrong.

@ plappyville, bro its absolutely ridiculous to condemn a ministry based on just one video.
Yes, but nothing wrong in pointing out certain manipulation of in a ministry as well.

A video like this can be monitored and manipulated to fool you..are u there in the meetings? How do u know it is real? Thank God for technology anything is possible these days..i wonder why people can be fooled like this.
No one is fooled here, the video showed it all...please stop defending evil manipulations!
Christianity Etc › Re: Church Performing Cremation (Burning a Dead Body): Scriptural? by plappville(op): 9:19pm On Jan 07, 2013
braine: The place where bodies were cremated then was known has Gehenna, aka hell.

This is what I could find online:

Gehenna (Greek γέεννα), Gehinnom (Rabbinical Hebrew: גהנום/גהנם ) and Yiddish Gehinnam, are terms derived from a place outside ancient Jerusalem known in the Hebrew Bible as the Valley of the Son of Hinnom; one of the two principal valleys surrounding the Old City.

In the Hebrew Bible, the site was initially where apostate Israelites and followers of various Ba'als and Caananite gods, including Moloch, sacrificed their children by fire (2 Chr. 28:3, 33:6; Jer. 7:31, 19:2-6).

In both Jewish and Christian writing, Gehenna was a destination of the wicked. This is different from the more neutral Sheol/Hades, the abode of the dead, though the King James version of the Bible traditionally translates both with the Anglo-Saxon word Hell.

A tradition commonly reported in older Christian commentaries that in Roman times fires were kept burning and the valley became the garbage dump of the city, where the dead bodies of criminals, and the carcasses of animals were thrown.

You can find more on Wikipedia if you're interested.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gehenna
2 Chronicles 28:3 He burned sacrifices in the Valley of Ben Hinnom and sacrificed his sons in the fire, following the detestable ways of the nations the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.

The Scriptures are not really talking about burning of the dead body (Cremation). The burning they did was different from the thread.
They did sacrificed thier Children to a god. This provoked the anger of Yahweh.

It shows "cremation of this type" will never be a thing pleasant to God. I do not think any true Christian will do such!

2and go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom, near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate. There proclaim the words I tell you, 3and say, ‘Hear the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah and people of Jerusalem. This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Listen! I am going to bring a disaster on this place that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle. 4For they have forsaken me and made this a place of foreign gods; they have burned sacrifices in it to gods that neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah ever knew, and they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent. 5They have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire as offerings to Baal—something I did not command or mention, nor did it enter my mind. 6So beware, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when people will no longer call this place Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.

The OP was corrected in a church, several persons here too. And they told her it was wrong to do that in the Presence of God.. undecided

Are they not using God as a means to prohibite crossing of Leg? even when they have no scripture to back this up.. undecided

jeremiah 10 2-3 This is what the Lord says:
“Do not learn the ways of the nations (copy from pagan)
or be terrified by signs in the sky,
though the nations are terrified by them.
3For the customs of the peoples are worthless; (thier traditons/feast)
they cut a tree out of the forest,
and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.

Rich4god: That part of the scripture was directd to those who are involved in witchcraft, enchantments, idol worship and those who neglect the ways of God which ofcourse am not guilty of. So tell me how that applies to those celebrating xmas/birthday.
The bolded does...Check History how this was celebrated...before the modifiication. God is not in a Pagan feast, He do not listen to all the plenty prayers of this feast days.

The true Yule celebration does not involve Jesus, a manger or angels. Those traditions were
added many years later. The original Yule celebrations involve much more ancient rituals and
beliefs. Other names for this festival are: Winter Solstice, Alban Arthan, Finn's Day, Festival
of Sol, Yuletide, Great Day of the Cauldron, and Festival of Growth.

Zikkyy: You are confused angry you just dey jump from one accusation to another.

what exactly are you saying here? @bolded, are you saying that the early Christians actually celebrated birthdays & xmas? Remember you guys told us on this very thread that there is no evidence in the scriptures that the early Christians celebrated birthdays and xmas. From the post above, it appears you are telling us that the early Christians were party animals; celebrating birthdays non-stop, though Paul was not happy with them. please clarify your position. i don't agree with your interpretation, clarify so i know if i need to update the checklist of debunked items angry
They did not celebrate XMAS, NEW YR etc, I never told you they did. This verse was actually pointing at the Jewish feasts then.
The new moons, the Jewish festivals, the Sabbatical years etc...

XMAS HALLOWEEN, NEW YR FITs in this verse today.
After given your life to Christ, why go back and do the same things as the Pagans? why celebrate thesame feasts with them.
You have nothing to debunk, you yourself have previously agreed this feast is not Scriptural, so how then can you debunk yourself? undecided

Image123: i don't need to. The point from the start has been that of bearing with others. When you bear/forbear, it's not about why are you offended since I'm not. You need to grow up enough to realise that one man's meat is another man's poison. The issue is to realize that it is Mr A or society A's poison. Even if it is your best food, respect that it is your 'brother's' poison, and stop serving him, quoting bible.
Than you guys should stop tagging God to it. He did not says It is wrong, neither did He expect such to offend any free human being! angry
Christianity Etc › Re: Crossing Your Legs In Church, Is It Wrong? by plappville(f): 3:46pm On Jan 07, 2013
^not sure why you're comparing your situation to the op's own when she clearly stated she is catholic and the issues happened at mass.

do nuns and catholic priests attend your church?
I'm not comparing. Whatever doctrine/practice in the body of Christ, it has to be generalised.
The bible has no different rules for each nation/Race. Christ is one, so does His message.

Yes the OP is a catholic, but since this thread we have seen that not only in the Catholic church do they impose this rule!

Some comments here are prove, or am i the one seeing double? huh

Rich4god: My dear sister, you are the one attributing/attaching all these to papanism. The last time i checkd, all these events are performed to the glory of God and we catholics, anything we are doing today is directly related to the life of Christ, i.e we(catholics) spread out the event that happened when Christ was on earth over the year, which we begin from Advent(around november) through xmas, through lent(fasting) to easter-his ancension-pentecost etc. So if you like, keep attributing it to paganism, all i know is that there is nothing pagan in what am doing. [s]Plz, by feb, i will post the full details of what catholics observe during the year and their meaning, so that you will get a full understanding of what we do. I kant do it now cos i travel and am not with my laptop, am just with my phone that uses opera mini.[/s]

Rich4god: I realy dont understand what you mean by "observation of time". Maybe you should throw more light so that i will not misquote you. At bolded, am a christian and i know when am going beyond values/morals and i dont think my actions/doing on xmas day is wrong.
It can have to do with astrology, occult, anything that involves the moon, stars fortune telling (gbogboe) etc etc..
and mostly, if you read Deuteronomy 18:10 which is the same as Gal.4:8-10.
They are Refererence to Deut 4:19; & Deut 17:3.

Deut 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

Now see: 2 Chronicles 33:6
6 And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.

What did Paul say? let look: 8Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. 9But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? 10Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. 11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.

Times are:
Valentine's Day === sun god, Cupid(Nimrod), Saturnalia, Baal.
Easter Time === goddess Ishtar known as Astarte, Oestre, Ostara, queen of heaven
New Years === god Janus
Christmas Time === sun god, Saturnalia.
Saints day (Halloween Time) ==== god Samhain

You see....Yahweh hates it cheesy...!!

doubleDx: I think cremation is a good thing. As the world population increases, with or without religion, cremation will be made compulsory. Cemeteries would likely be leveled and used as space for building houses in the future!
What future? I Wouldn't doubt you anyway, but you know man's plan for the future is not certain. But we know that God has a sured plan for us in the future.

Rich4god: lol @ your response. The chronicles you quoted... Plz can you help me point out where i use witchcraft and enchantments.
The Isaiah you quoted, you should have quoted from verse 1 so what we all can see why God said He doesnt want their offering... Except if you will be accusing king David and the people of Isreal that they disobeyed God by making burnt offering at the temple or you will still accuse Zachariah the father of John of paganism cos he burnt incense to God. Am
choping now, care to join me.
Do you observe times or not? The Scripture did mention things that God hates. One of them you are victim of observe timed.

You had better understand I said, the reason God said those words is because some of their ways are not pleasing God. Their hearts were far but yet the continue to offer him offerings and prayers. Do not change my words. I could give more details but it will be lengthy so. I briefed it.
