And name d members of lydia's and cornelius' households that were baptized in the book of acts, let's see if there were infants there or not.I repeat, There is no where it is mentioned if there were children or infants in the cases of Househood. But for prove, there are adults, this include the husband, wife, servants, inlaws and thier children, how old the children may be if at all ther is any no details about it So It is hard to believe there were or were no children below moral accountability age. In comparing verses that speaks of baptism, in the bible, it always specify men and women, in those verses in my previews posts. And the baptise method given was, buried and arise from the water, this is a thing that cannot be dont with infants becos of the risk. For the fact that it was never specified, i must say that, God has plan for infants. I leave that to him. We must know that childs dedication is a good way to teach a child in the way og God. Why be scared of death on ur infants/children? leave them, God holds them firmly. they are safer with God than their parents. |
@Italo:No, you didn't answer to every one of the verses - it would take you a lifetime to do so, and you still won't be able to disprove them. How could i ve answered all the verses, i read the verses and discovered there was none that stated, Infants or children were baptised. So i gave u my reply in respect of what the verses qoute. by backing my with proves. Now I asked some specific questions: when were you baptized as a catholic?I didn't want to answer becos i felt it was not important, as u re repeating, see my respond. I was not born catholic, so i didn't baptise there, I became catholic through one of our tenant who's househood were catholics. Although, my dad was a COGM member, we do go to church only sundays. Joining catholic was really because of the house to house fellowship practise, i felt it was good becos, it helps to remind me of Gods word during the week. But at this point, i discover alot of things like, in some family living, they build alter with MARY's image etc. Ididn't ve borther to kow if it was biblica then, maybe becos, i dont even read the bible. when i recieved the gospel through an evangelical preacher, i converted in and gave my life to Christ. |
folaski:We are not claiming anything in finding the truth in a particular practice in the body of Christ. The bible itself is there to correct things. Alot of people that practise this infant baptism has no ideal of what it means. Ignorant in rampant. |
Infant baptism isn't Biblical, A should b dedicated to God not baptized. If baptism saves as somebody claimed then the robber @ d right of Jesus on d cross wil not be save, because he waznt baptized, Baptism comes after one hz acknkowledged his sins, confess Christ as Lord and Savior then U r qualified, A CHILD KNOWS NOTHINGU re hiting the truth! apart frm the fact the infants were not mentioned to be baptised in the bible, the sprinkling of water practice is not baptism. Baptism is buried in Christ and rise with Christ.) ![]() |
Cornelius' household - Acts 10:1-11:18; 15:7-11The book of Acts gives historical narration of actual events that took place. U should know that ,the fact that God promised Cornelius that his whole household would be saved does not mean the same promise applies universally to all households across time. (Like God did with Father Abraham, Father of all nation,). In other words, it was a specific promise to a specific person at a specific point in time. we should becareful in interpreting these types of promises as universal in nature becus they must be understood correctly in thei historical setting in order to be interpreted rightly. It is clear that Cornelius's case is Gods fulfilling promises on him and his househood. The Angel of God gave him the msg for Peter to come minister to him. this is specific promise in fulfillment. If u read Acts 10:33, u will first see that Cornelius and his household were gathered “to hear all that (Peter) ve been commanded by the Lord.” In other words, they were in a place and position to hear the Gospel which “is the power of God to salvation” (Romans 1:16). Upon hearing the Gospel preached by Peter, everyone in Cornelius’s household believed and was baptized (Acts 11:15-18). So, while God had promised Cornelius that his household would be saved, the way they were saved was consistent with God’s plan of salvation, which is through the preaching of the Gospel. U can understand they were not saved becus Cornelius believed but because they believed So u concluding that this was transformed as a univesal promise, its ur own opinion. Peter preached to them; who? adults of course! they listened undestood, and the Holy spirit filled them, did the Holy spirit filled the infants too? maybe u can tell us how this was done too. Some people believe baptism can save a baby, but I disagree; and I disagree also that it can even save an adult. But that is my own view.My broda, its salvation that saves, through faith, by hearing and believing in the word of God. know tht the command to believe is directed to individuals and the act of believing is an individual action. Understanding dis is important when it comes to perfectly understanding the concept of household salvation becos it helps us focus on the fact that salvation can only come through an individual believing in Christ. It is not something that a father can do for a son or daughter, nor is the fact tht one member of a family or household believes any guarantee that the rest will also. God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34) so the same token applied to the entire household.how does this verse conect to the thread sir? |
jeo4christ; No wonder the bible says my people perish for lack of knowledge.Did u go throuh the thread? i never made mention of infant going to hell. U believe what u interpret not minding what the verse is met for. we are all here to learn, as wide as the bible, even if u are able to read all its passages, u will still need to learn certain things from others. Like i sad before, there is no where was it written tht infants were baptised. that doesn't means if an infant dies he goes to hell, we do not know of this secret of God, so rather, lets not conclude that because an infant is baptised, if he/she dies, its straight to heaven. i am not here to judge that. What is not reveal in the bible, are Gods secret. He has plans for infants, children, deranged etc. |
@italo I can't answer to posts that are as long as 3rd Mainland Bridge. Talk about things one at a time and my response is here waiting for you.why? is it not very important to be clear with this?scroll back to your Post #19, its as long as 3rd Mainland Bridge, but yet i took my time to go through thoses verse. If i had not dont tht, how will i be able to tell u they ve no backup of infant baptism? It is very easy to post many verses of the bible without putting in clear context of what the verse mean. I advise u read through it. @italo:To be born of water and spirit simply means to be baptized. And what are to be done before baptism, how does the apostles in the bible apply this methods? Will an unbeliever who never heard of the word, belief in baptism? Posted on: Today at 07:37:22 AM Posted by: ThelstanBack this up with the bible plz. |
2 Timothy 3.16 says the Scriptures are 'useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.' Psalm 119.27 says, 'Let me understand the teaching of your precepts; then will I meditate on your wonders.' |
@italo so what you are saying is that one dont have to believe to inherit Enternal Life according to(John3:16).or one dont have to be born of water and the Spirit to enter The Kingdom of God(John3:5).?that by pouring water upon an infant he/she now have access to God's Kingdom?is that what your Bible tells you? Broda, there's no catholic or a catholic church in the Heavens of our Lord Jesus Christ, The bitter Truth is there's no infant Baptism, from Genesis to Revelation in the Bible nothing whatsoever is said about infant Baptism. You guys are simply helping the Holy Spirit on our own.
I was once a Catholic, but thank God i didn't partake in the infant baptism stuffs. I was made to understand many things that are not even biblical. I once have same way of bible understanding like this. Good example of catholic post: Ye, I think it's better to be baptized when you're older cos by then you know what you want, what religion you want to belong to, what church you want to attend, etc. Jesus got baptized when he was an adult, 30? Not sure. However, I don't think he meant we should be baptized at the age he was.Ordinary Catholics might not be so adept at quoting chapter and verse. Ye but seeing as God knows all maybe these babies would have grown up to be something else so it's safer to baptize them to sort of cleanse them in a way.A typical catholic way of thinking. But finally, she came up with this:, kelz88:How will the bold reasoning translate baptism? ![]() |
folaski:If the Bible tells us specifically who to baptize, and if infants are not included in those instructions i.e., if the gospel teaches individual responsibility and personal accountability - then the practice of baptizing babies should be abandoned. I am not in position to tell u if it is sin, rather, the scripture. So, everything we do must be done by Jesus' authority (Col. 3:17). The scriptures provide us to all good works (2 Tim. 3:16,17), if our practice is not included in God's word, it must not be a good work. in other words, If a practice is not authorized in the New Testament, then it must be human in origin and therefore not pleasing to God (2 John 9; Gal. 1:6-9; Matt. 15:9; Prov. 14:12; etc.) |
folaski:Baptisem is to be completely covered by water. God chose immersion in water because it is a very powerful way of showing us that our sins must be forgiven. Believers realise that they need saving from sin and require God's grace. they go under the water in baptism, and die to an old way of life. They come up out of the water to a new life. In baptism, believers identify with the death of Jesus Christ, who died for us. Be clear about it please. Jesus in mat 19:14 admonished us to bring them. When they now get to the age of accountability, they will come to confess their faith with their own mouth. Is this how u interpreted this verse? Ok so What happen if they refused to confessed with their own moth. DAD MUM, it wasn't my choice, but urs ![]() |
@italo, those verses are over interpreted, i cant qoute each as i will like to address each of the matter in the in a better manner for more clearity. Now can you tell me one verse in the Bible that says infants should not be baptized?I ve not find any verse that back up infant baptism, we are all learning to the glory of God, in as much as i did not find one backing it, I do sure find many verses that made it clear than, Baptism is for Adult. A person who is wise enough to decide for himself, he know the difference btw good and bad, he can commit or avoid sin. Here is one verse that could enlighten u, each time the bible speaks of baptism, it never say children, read this. (Acts 8:12) "But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women." Did u hear the word believe befor the word baptise came? and did u hear children mentioned? (NO),Ok let me proceed. Gen. 17:12, Lev. 12:3 - these texts show the circumcision of eight-day old babies as the way of entering into the Old Covenant - Col 2:11-12 - however, baptism is the new "circumcision" for all people of the New Covenant. Therefore, baptism is for babies as well as adults. God did not make His new Covenant narrower than the old Covenant. To the contrary, He made it wider, for both Jews and Gentiles, infants and adults.God told Abraham in (Genesis 17:10–12) that every male among u shall be circumcised, and "infant" should be circumcired at the 8th day. U can see that God was very specific, Abraham and others did circumcised? Then after, it was continued with infants as that was the original order from God. God cannot make a convenant without a clear specification. In the case of Baptism, there is a trace of specification/symbol, (Baptism is an act of FAITH) An infant cant ve faith. If u say that circumcision was replaced by baptism and the both is a sign of faith, u are saying that infants ve faith. In order words, u can teach him/her the word, make him understands, then he decides if he belief, then get baptised. Isn't it very easy and unritual to sprinkle water? is sprinkling of water same are been buried in water? Lets take it gradually, we shall arrive by his grace. Jesus commission teaches tht his condition for salvation is 2 fold. "Belief and baptism." Belief witout baptism is an empty claim witout proof. and baptism without belief is a ritualistic waste of time. When certain christians in Rome felt that freedom from Mosaic law gave them the liberty to sin freely, Paul denounced such thinking from then as wrong! Paul says:. "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! how shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?" . "Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?" (Rom. 6:1-3). Paul says it's in "baptism". "Therefore, we were buried with Him by baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life" (6:4). The bold is our target, we ve to know why this word keeps coming out each time the scripture speaks about baptism. We can see that baptism is not a mere "sacrament," so designated by men, neither is't a wrk that "earns" salvation as many thinks. It is a statement of our "faith" in the saving blood of Jesus Christ. Baptism is an act of faith that emulates the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. An other verse: (Colossians 2:12) 12:Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Do we understand the word buried? if yes, so why will many church sprinkle infants on the head and call it baptism. all the verses i ve found never say a thin like this. When the Bible speaks of baptism it tells us of adult men and women who make a deliberate choice like in (Acts 8:12 qouted above). They wanted to obey the Lord Jesus and be baptized. They were completely covered in water. This is the baptism of Bible times. Another good example to prove is found in Acts 8. Philip talked with an Ethiopian eunuch. "(Acts 8:35)Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. . No doubt, while they talked, small amout of water can be found on their journeys. It would ve been easy for Philip to sprinkle water on the eunuch's head, like its done today. But the eunuch, who believed the words Philip preached about Jesus, was not baptized until "they came to some water" (U can read from verse 36-39). The eunuch then said, "Look, here is water: what is to prevent my being baptized?" So "they both went down Into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. When they came up from the water . . . the eunuch . . . went on his way rejoicing". Notice, they both "went down into" and "came up from" the water. This is same as buried and rise in Christ. The eunuch was a mature person who believed the things preached by Philip concerning Jesus Christ. He was completely covered by water. U cant that Baptism is not something u do in someones place. It is not in method used for circumcision convenant that was well specified to infants. So, i must conclude that, Baptism was never in anyway mention to infant as in circumcision. |
LagosShia:Feel sad? not at all, u just dont know what u re doing thats all. Luke 23:34 Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." |
please, when you talk do not use dishonest ways like this:"quran/hadith".Who cares if one is acceptable to Ignorants or not? the both are from a mere man. Islam can't fool everyone with that fake book. That book is the Devils manipulation, with the name allah backed it up. So i'm sorry, I sarve a God that reveals tricks of the devil to his children. Islam is one of the Devils plan to distroy the work of Jesus Christ. Well, u ve the right to say whtever u like, the hadith is mohameds word and u will agree with me that, the bible is far older than the koran/hadith. The bible was written in 1450-1410 B.C. The Qur'an was written in 610 A.D. Anyone can make a copy of an original and start up a religion, but only the devil would start up a religion on the mere foundation of the following, a. Adultery (Multiple Wives flirt around):: Muhammad Were Intimate with just about anyone he pleased. Thanks to Allah's extraordinary interest in his personal sex life, as immortalized in the Qur'an. The multitude of slave girls and concubines he had, indeed he knew them all. b. Pedophillia (Marry a 9 yrs old Girl & knew her when he was 60 YRS Old), there 's no where in the reliable Hadith or Sira is there any other age given. c. Murder (Brutally Killed people who denied Islam) The hadiths condemn Muhammad as a slave trader, murderer, assassin, liar and a person who gouged out the eyes of people who betrayed him. I conderm is falsehood doctrine. This is not a joke ooo! Hundreds of years ago there was nt much use for writin' so stories were passed on by oral tradition. Muhammad memorised stories that were told by jews, christians & greeks that he heard and then replayed them from memory. That is why the Koran is a jumble of half remembered stories. Error errors errors, Muhammad's memory was not that good. so go ahead and bring out a verse from the Quran or even an authentic hadith where sex is praised or talked about in an indecent way.Qur'an (4:24) - "And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess." u see, allah even permitted Muhammad and his men to Be Intimate with married slaves, such as those captured in battle. there are maby quranic verse of indecency in both K and H. Look, i am not here for victory claims as u think, people must know the devil in human shape, and this will help them to "come out of her" revelation 18. Arguing something u know so well its bad, but because u re spiritually blind, u are captured. @LagosShian, i talk of the falsehood of islam, know ye that it has no personal issues with u or others. Gods people are to be restored and this is one of the way to purlg the secret evil killing them gradually to enternal distruction. Thank u for qouting David, Ezekiel etc, but was not able to Qoute "Jesus" who is the source of Christianity, why? Mohamed is the source of islam, but was found flowing in the devils realm. Thank u, no forther talk for now. |
When will the Egyptians learn to know that God exist? They dont learn from what happened to their forefathers. This are the true Muslims in action. If they dont do things like this, it means they are rejecting the teaching of the koran. Well done prophet Mohamed ![]() |
How Christ like to fill plenty forms, wait hours and pass through interviews befor u get healed? The person might ve lost his faith all this while. It will be great if they get healed but not taking the drugs its too dangerous. TB shouldnt stop them from it. |
LOL you make me laugh boy i missed this thread for so long but its not too late, so if you say sex was nothing to Quran can you give me proof of where is praises sex? i can give you verses in the bible that describe how you can sweet talk a lady and Be Intimate with herGo bring out one prove of how Jesus was in sex parade with women, wives, slaves etc. If u cant find one then look and pass this topic. When something is excess, it becomes "NOTHING" that was my point. Scroll back ur koran/hadite u will see that he did not just praise Sex, but he ate it. This was one of his hobbies. I can continue posting if u want. We speak out what the koran wrote itself about mohammed, its not like anyone is framing anything. U ve ur koran, check those verses and qoute me wrong thanks. Dear people of God, u may feel u ve goon too far that u feel ashame to rertrieve ur step back. Know ye that. No matter hw far u ve gone on a wrong way u can still turn back. It is now pick ur lost souls and restore it. Thank u. |
This topic is a shame to the Muslim world, they find demselves eating their vomits. The worse LagosShian could ve done ![]() |
@plappvillePlz leave repetition or loser story out of this, there is nothing for muslim scolars to defend anymore. The koran was written by Mohamed himself, no devineness, all his tricks were for people who are ignorant. Thank God i discover the bible befor, i could ve been wasting in a slavering islam like U, @Uplawal and my broda @sweetnecta. I dont click links from u muslims, becos the koran has all the links i need to search in it only. If u want me to open ur links, then u must accept that, ur prophet was never wht he claimed he was. The world is facing bondage, many are lost, many are slavering, many are completely blind. All for the sake of mohammed. But wait ooo, do u people really read the koran before arriving at this point? |
I'm not a religious person so the best I can do for my child would be infant baptism.Really? But why will u baptise ur infant when u ve no knowlaged of what Baptism is? U just gave the reason why ur mum did it for u, and see today, u are not following Gods ways, yet u feel secured because u were baptised? This is not how it should be, and if u read my post, u will see i narrated two situations like urs. Ignorant towards the spcriture will do us no help, but everlasting damages. We still the choice to rethink if we are on the right track or not. |
Ye, I think it's better to be baptized when you're older cos by then you know what you want, what religion you want to belong to, what church you want to attend, etc. Jesus got baptized when he was an adult, 30? Not sure. However, I don't think he meant we should be baptized at the age he was.No Jesus or his disciples didnt mention anything about age, but he/she who is hearing the preaching should be able to understand and know if he to accept or reject will be best for him. He is infant, he wont understands. When Jesus was 12yrs old, he went to the temple and his parents were worried for him, as a devine creature, it was not seen as too young to be outside alone without his parent, they believed he should be under thier security, but for Jesus, the Church was the best place to be. Imagin in our world today, 12rs od child may not even understand wht exactly Baptism means. So children are children, we shouldnt do certain thing in their position. It is our role to teach the child Gods ways, gradually in the way he may get some knowledge of what God is all about. I ve kids, i know what they say, they Love God but they re still too young to know deeper, the questions they will ask u sometimes, u will just say, waooh, no wonder Jesus said wonderful things about them. (Its not really up to the parents, its up to how Gods word will be fulfill in the childs life. Both present and future. Prov 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is grown he will not depart from it. |
Sorry, tgat question was for @Folaski. All thesame thanks. |
Too lazy to read all that. Its not too long na, u just try. no boby ve an ideal of where infants go if they die, so why the believe of it as appropriete time? She did read the bible, she could understands that Infants are safe in Gods sight. God know infant cant talk, so he wouldnt condem them becuse they couldnt confessed their sins if they ve one! Its not that they dont die, death is upon every son that seeth the sun light. But what no man knows is where they go, it may be wrong to assume they are saved. When a particular thing is not treated in the bible, it may be Gods seperate plan for such is secret. We cant byforce things, to satisfy our own interest. Not minding if God is plzed with it. |
Anwser this question, if infant baptism was needed, why didnt Jesus mother Baptise him when he was infant? Why will they ve to ignore it if it was the best option for us? Everything Jesus did was how things are surposed to be done, he showed us example of how things should be done. We are following his steps. We should not misinterpret paul in anyway. |
Insert QuoteIt is wrong to criticise when the act is biblical. How can the gospel retrieve from been misinterpreted to others if we all shut up and do what Pope/pastor instructed only? these verses didnt talk about Infant/child baptism. Jesus could have pointed it out if it was called for, but becos God has plan for Infants, this issue was not in the scripture. Let me say, i ve not seen it yet. Jesus openly told us bring the children to him, this is by taking them to church, telling dem about Christ etc. an example with children as bringing dem to him is the kingdom of heaven, is a pure prove that they are innocent. This has no baptism referance with children. Mat.19:14, Act 16:14-15,1 Cor 1:16. the other two verse were talking about househood, there was no child or children mentioned, do they they ve little children at home? U ve should ve the answer, (i will expanciate much more later, i cant help typing with phone.) He said in, (Matthew 19:14) "Allow the little children, and don't forbid them to come to me; for to such belongs the Kingdom of Heaven .". (Matthew 18:3)( "Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven." with all the occasion he uses children, he nover refared to infant/children baptism. |
@i.chuka: Insert QuoteI was about saying same thing, thanks for pointing it. |
babsomotde:When the heart is will to understands, he is always there to help us. Jesus has promised us this gift and many are enjoying it. |
dam, how come i don't know about this, thanksWe cannot know everything, that is why we need each other to share the word of God. Posted on: Today at 08:44:12 PM Posted by: i.chukaThe bold will be answered by ignorants who ve no idealbof what baptism is all about, but just do like they are told. Where are we arriving at? (none studying of their bible). This is the problem. Very good points u made thanks. |
alienvirus:Do urself good open your koran, get a bible open it, read the both, then tell me which is copied? Again ask urself one question, if the man, i mean the MUSLIM FOUNDER, if he Was sexually restrained? Lets see, what good example he showed. Qur'an (33:37) - "But when Zaid had accomplished his want of her, We gave her to you as a wife, so that there should be no difficulty for the believers in respect of the wives of their adopted sons, when they have accomplished their want of them; and Allah's command shall be performed." Qur'an (33:50) - "O Prophet! surely We have made lawful to you your wives whom you have given their dowries, and those whom your right hand possesses out of those whom Allah has given to you as prisoners of war, and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts, and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who fled with you; and a believing woman if she gave herself to the Prophet, if the Prophet desired to marry her-- specially for you, not for the (rest of) believers; We know what We have ordained for them concerning their wives and those whom their right hands possess in order that no blame may attach to you; " Another special command that Mohamad handed down to himself that allows virtually unlimited sex, divinely sanctioned by Allah Mhamad was married to thirteen women, at one time. he relegated them to either consecutive days or (according to some accounts) all in one night. He maried a 9yrs old girl and even his adopted son's wife. On top of that, Muhammad had a multitude of slave girls and concubines with whom he Were Intimate - sometimes on the very days in wich they had watched their husbands and fathers die at the hands of his army. HadithMuslim (8:3460) - "Why didn't you marry a young girl so that you could sport with her and she sport with you, or you could amuse with her and she could amuse with you?" Mohamad asked this to one of his followers who had married an "older woman" instead of opting to handle a child. Bukhari (6:300) - Muhammad's wives had to be available for the prophet's handling even when they were having their menstrual period. Bukhari (5:268) - "The Prophet used to visit all his wives in a round, during the day and night and they were eleven in number." I asked Anas, 'Had the Prophet the strength for it?' Anas replied, 'We used to say that the Prophet was given the strength of thirty men.' " His sex life nearly draged him to death.for this reason, The perfect prophet violated the devine Qur'anic law that allows men to have only four wives at a time. u wrote a book, u violated it So, by any realistic measure, the creator of the world's most sexually restrictive religion was also one of the most sexually indulgent characters in history. People should wake up, Gods grace is still surficient for u, wake up, pick your brain, dust it and move out, "THE BIBLE SAY IN REVELATION 18: "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. those who ve ears, let them hear. |

wellmax:Of course, the bible is the "HOLY" word of God. The koran was all made up frm the bible and other history books, if u reads it, u will discover much repeatation of the bible etc, This book Koran was written to distroy the bible purity, but it has failed. Gone at those day, when only Arabians can read it. Truth of its falsehood, plenty errors made by the Mohamed all becos of copy from multiple book ve been exposed.
