It is unfortunate ,how obscenely expensive property is in Nigeria.I have been trying to buy land iun lekki for a few years but changed my mind after acessing the situation. What i will on  buying in Lekki will buy an ultra modern home in the leafy suburbs of South Africa.I personally believe that South African Architects are the best in the world because after comparing their designs to american and Australian architects,SA designs rock.I will leave a couple of links here so you can check out what SA homes are like.

The man below Mr Nico Vaneulen is a man i have great respect for ,his designs are mind boggling and extremely beautiful.Just check out his portfolio on his website below :

www.nicovdmeulen.com

Now here is a link of to the thread i created which contains pictures of SA homes:

Ekiti people are not proud and will never come on the internet to say - I am a multi millionaire.

If I mention my family name, I am sure you will know never to say that where I am.

Cheif J E Babatola is a friend of my father.[/quote]Damn ,you are really an Ekiti. You mentioned my uncle's name.Ok fine, you are a sister of mine.I feel uncomfortable having to go against my own sister. You probably know me or my cousins. That being said ,i still don't like GEJ.

As per the multi-millionaire stuff,we were fighting remember? When people fight , insults are thrown ,egos take over and emotions pour out.Anything can be said at that moment of "madness".

Still shocked though that you are from Ado. Keti i? If i may ask ,why so much love for GEJ,especially being an Ekiti? Just sounds strange to me  undecided

We Ekitis call a spade a spade, you remember what happened in the 80s when olora's palace was burnt down? That is the way Ekitis fight, even modern day Ekitis don't take crap from no one so makes we really wonder why you find GEJ to be reliable?

I seriously doubt that because i doubt any of my Ekiti sisters will behave the way you have been behaving on NL.I am from Ekiti from Ado Ekiti to be specific. If you know who heads Ado Ekiti "olora" then you know my family.

If really you are an Ekiti woman ,i am very disappointed because ekitis on the ground hate this fake messiah (GEJ). Ekitis are hotheads but we never support people like GEJ.

Nigerians has voted for notherners various times and all of them performed below expectations,
why cant they give GEJ's govtment a chance to take off.All they hate and abuses because he is from the so called minority.
Please don't talk bullsh1t here about what you know nothing about.I was one of the people that marched to the Nigerian embassy in Johannesburg during the Yara Dua/Turai saga to demand that Jonathan be sworn in as president.I once liked GEJ and i once supported him. However in the past 8 months i have come to regret that move. This man was loved by Nigerians because we felt he will do something for his people especially because he came from ND where several attrocities are going on.

GEJ had the opportunity to please Nigerians but instead he pleased the PDP and squandered 20billion dollar in oil reserves. Was it not last year under GEJ's rule that several navy gun boats opened fire on an ND village and killed hundreds of people? Some of my close friends in SA lost their relatives in that village and i am not even from the ND.What do you have to say to that?

I don't care where Jonathan is from ,i hate him as much as i hate OBJ ,IBB ,OTUNBA DANIELS,FEMI FANI KAYODE (who is a family friend) and ATIKU.I just hate the PDP and it's corrupt cabals. It has got nothing to do with his tribe.I hate what they are doing to Nigerians.Do you know how many people are going hungry every night because of these bad leaders?

If you give me 20billion dollar ,i will solve Nigeria's power problems permanently with just 6 billion ,the remaining funds will be used to build a new gold mine ,promote small scale agriculture, build better hospitals ,roads and pay teachers salaries and i don't have a Ph.D. People in government will have their salaries reduced by 90% including the president, for flip sake Jonathan get triple what Obama gets and our country's GDP is not even up to 30% of the USA's

People like IBB ,OBJ ,Abacha Junior ,Atiku and their cronies will be arrested and their assets frozen. The funds recovered from them will used to build better infrastructure. Politicians ,Members of the SSS and the armed forces who have been linked to corruption will be publicly executed to serve as warning to future politicians.

Watching bbc and the commentator said people come out for the rally not because of enthusiasm but because of the free things they will get”
When people sacrifice their lives because of freedom, brave night and day rain and shine to be free, we are here selling our soul for a days meal, selling our future for a thousand naira.
How worthless are we?when anyone complains tomorrow about how one big man stole money, who will take them seriously?
We deserve what we get, because we are greedy, selfish ,lazy and cowards.
tomorrow fools will attend the same rallies because we never learn.
We deserve our wretched death, because we are fools.
Why should they be throwing money to the crowds when they should be looking for ways to create jobs?
Isnt that a criminal act?
Why should the police officers close the gates and shoot in the air, creating chaos.
21 questions and no answer
Next week, the news will have died down and we will read about fools like obj, akala
Spoken like a true Nigerian.

Unfortunately we cannot have that kind of uprising in Nigeria right now because we have too many beafs and Ma J bliges in our midst.Way too many. All they care about is how many bags of rice, free MTN airtime and wads of 500naira notes they can get.

Our youths are misguided and pretty much unintelligent. Our mentality has to change if we are to be free.

One person started the Egyptian revolution ,an Egyptian Google employee, today that single individual is being credited has having initiated the movement that freed his country from modern day slavery. You made one very crucial point that Nigerians are lazy. That is very true, majority of us are only hardworking when it comes to crime and evil things.

We lack dignity as a nation ,we lack self esteem and we no longer believe in honesty and discipline. That is why you will find government agents/thugs threatening people on forum.I say we have to fight this now and end it now.Not everyone can be in Nigeria but we must put our voice together as one and fight from the internet to the TV to the streets to the newspapers. The pressure of 150million will bring about the much need change that we seek as a nation.

We must stop being scared of dying for our country, we have to encourage ourselves and our people. We need to instill new found courage in them and FIGHT with everything we have got.

Lives maybe lost but freedom will come.ENOUGH is ENOUGH!

For the Educated Nigerians, the ones lucky enough to get a good education and beat the 'Nigerian' system, there is so much indignation and in some cases shock at the crazy events going on in our country. Unfortunately, I've come to realize that we are just a few.
The real Nigerian, the one frustrated by the system. the illiterates of the Niger Delta and other impoverished areas of Nigeria, those fed lies by greedy pastors and imams every other worship day, who has no one home and abroad to solve his immediate problems and lives in a country where our politicians really don't care; do you expect him/her to think like you who eats three square meals a day?
The inner will of every human to survive drives us to desperate measures (419, yahooyahoo, rituals) where common sense is thrown away for animal sense. That's what our politicians have realised. That's why they go to rallies with lots of naira notes, cause f you can satisfy their immediate needs, they will give you their votes. If you can brainwash them with hope and force them to ignore facts, they will give you their votes(willingly or forcefully).

My condolence to family members of those deceased.

All these beefing and abuses won't help us neither would it bring the dead ones back. You want to change Nigeria? Teach your brothers a new way. Southerners in diaspora, teach the militants a new way, give them a chance to live a better life inspite of the prevailing Nigerian situation. Northerners, teach the Almajiris a better way of life. They had no choice, they're simply products of this insane society our politicians have created.

This is 2011, we are now 9 years away from 2020,  the winner of the next election, due to power of incumbency, could be President till 2019,
Vote wisely, vote, vote, vote
While i agree with most of what you have said ,i must point out to you that only a naive person will believe that the upcoming elections are genuine. The election has already been rigged and even if GEJ loses,JEGA will not announce him as the loser.GEJ is already the president of Nigeria ,whether you and i like it or not.Anyone who goes out to vote is wasting their time.

You and i know how Nigeria works,it is a corrupt nation with corrupt leaders. With all the billions given to JEGA ,many people were not registered, here is a piece from CNN.

After watching those videos, clearly you can see that the upcoming election is a joke and a complete waste of time. Nigerians should not be bothered about voting at this time, instead we should be mobilizing on the streets  and demanding that the army arrest GEJ and his PDP ilks.I know know it is a long shot because our army and police are also corrupt but if we can mobilize as one force ,even the armed forces of Nigeria will be scared of the people.Surely the army can not shoot all 150 million Nigerians? We will overwhelm them and court marshal the corrupt ones amongst them.

The path we are currently following as nation ,is a path to hunger, destruction ,more looting and more bad luck.

Boycott the elections and demand for change.Egypt has a population of 80 with an army 4 times the size of Nigeria's and better quipped. Nigeria has 150 million people and a military that has old school and broken equipment. Why are we so scared of the Government? There is power in numbers and we have numbers.Wake up people take your future in your hands.I will love to have a man like wole soyinka as the president of Nigeria ,not morons like Jonathan and sambo!

Now is the time for the revolution,NOW IS THE TIME!

Why cant people sit their arze down @ home?? campaign! campaign!! what campaign??
I've been watching GEJ and his approach to national and political issues with some pang of disappointment.
The problem lies with Nigerians with the "God-attention" they give to our politicians.
There are fundamental, will i say congenital disorder in the methodology we approach political issues in Nigeria. We tend to Know the "TRUTH" and accept it as "FATE" which run converse to democratic discipline which is "CREATE your own TRUTH" and be responsible for your "FATE".

People rushed to pick monies thrown @ them by our politicans and in the process, there was stampade. where else on planet earth do people "impress" electorates by throwning monies @ them?
what those this singular act tell you about the politician in question? The philosophy of financial gratification has eroded just about every aspect of our lifes in Nigeria such that we have failed to see it as our own Nemesis. Believe it or not, This is a legal issue "abuse of national instrument and bribery" with the possibility of man-slaughter proccedings. The question is, which legal analyst will give a damn? Am no lawyer but we should question our morals.
GEJ has a way of giving "transport fares", "Petrol fees" "bags of rice" and careless monies that can only make one wonder what our president take Nigerians for. ANYBODY who attempts to bride Nigerians with money and other tangible instruments other than service should be seen as enemy of nigerians. Honestly, it is time to say enough is enough! some of these actions should be challenged legally!! Why does the "JOS phenomena" keep coming back? yet no preventive and forensic approach has been taken to solve the problem? why do we spend more than BRAZIL on transport infrastructure and yet we don't even have a public mass transit system? what happened to accountability in the Niger delta? my point is WE all KNOW this yet we choose to DIE for these ingrates. One day, Nigerians will smile, but not yet____
You took the words right out my mouth.I think any sensible ,honest and patriotic Nigerian will not feel any pity for these blokes who got crushed. They probably went there hoping to get a free bag of rice or some 100 Naira notes thrown at them.We have gone past the stage of bullsh1t and it is time we call a spade a spade. If you are silly enough to attend a rally organized by a notorious crimeboss, thug, looter,Murderer and terrorist like GEJ ,then maybe you deserve to be trampled.

Was it not last year that GEJ's wife sacrificed Nigerians lives all in the name of sharing rice to them? Why didn't these monkeys learn from that incident and stay clear of GEJ's rally? Tomorrow again ,you will find long throat Nigerians going to another stupid rally and more of them will DIE.

S,t,u,p,i,d follows s,t,u,p,i,d!

Egyptians have just freed themselves from a dictator of 30years but silly Nigerians continue to follow their slave masters like monkeys. They DESERVE IT!

As long as you continue to support crooks ,woe onto you! Next time i hope it is GEJ himself that is trampled to death along with Sambo ,beaf and Ma J blige.

Like i said ,i am not here to make friends so you all GEJ lovers can go kill yourselves!

We are too stupidd to figure it out

With ediots like GEJ as president, the continent is doomed!
Ah ,correction the continent is not doomed.Maybe Nigeria is but certainly not Ghana,South Africa, Botswana,Namibia,Swaziland.I happen to visit some of these countries on a regular basis and all i see is progress.

I am one of those few people who chose to stay and thrive in Africa. Now when we talk about Africa ,there are two different types of Africa.(A) The developed Africa with low percentage of corruption in Government e.g SA,Botswana e.t.c (B) The under developed Africa with massive corruption in government e.g Nigeria.

I thank God everyday that i chose to come to South Africa.I had the opportunity of Going to the USA or Australia but for some weird reason ,curiosity drove me to SA.It is the best decision i have ever made in my life. While many of my mates are in the USA ,.Uk ,Australia and Asia working 9-5 jobs,i became financially fulfilled in a matter of 5 years.

Do you know why this is so,well because when i got to SA ,it was still a virgin land. They were still still recovering from Apartheid and many of their citizens were not business savvy. Many Nigerians like myself took advantage of this aspect and established our mini empires here. With our Nigerian mentality and our way of doing business ,many of us clocked 6 digit figures in our bank accounts in no time.

I have no doubt in my mind that if i had gone to the USA ,i will still be working a 9-5 job and finding life very hard like many of friends over there right now.I guess i am just lucky that i made the right choice for me.Today i am very independent and i can afford whatever i want.

What i have realized even from university is that many Nigerians are follow follow zombies. They can't do their own research and make up their own minds. They depend on people to influence them.I remember when i was in Lasu ,many of my friends were always talking about how they were going to make it big in jand and yankie. This dudes had no plan ,they just thought they will arrive overseas and the money will start pouring in.This is what i refer to as a lazy mindset and many Nigerian youths today still think that unless they go to the USA or the Uk ,they can never make it in life.

My ex-girlfriend is currently in North Carolina and i send here money sometimes from SA,can you believe that? Now she knows that going to the USA does not guarantee you success if you do not have a plan. She is even try to "scope" me into sponsoring her to SA,something i will never do.

My point is Africa is great but only if you are in the developed part of Africa and you have a strategy to succeed.

The Chinese come to Nigeria because our officials are too greedy and they can easily buy them in order to operate their illegal activities in Nigeria.

The Chinese come to South Africa because businesses thrive here without the baggage of NEPA ,BAD ROADS e.t.c

While there is a lot of bad press about SA in western media.I will like to show you some of the good things here they don't want you see.Even Americans admit that SA is rocking.

@Poster , I commend you for having the courage to bring this up. What you have written makes for some very interesting thinking. I never really thought about the origins of our tribes but you do make a lot of sense with your argument. That is not to say that you are entirely correct but don’t let these hypertensive Nairalanders derail you. I like your style on this thread, you are not a “follow follow zombie”. Just like me, i don’t come to nairaland to make friends, I speak my mind and everyone else can go jump in a lake.

@The rest of you.

This is an educative forum, this guy created this thread stating what he believes, if you believe different you can easily point him in the right directions. What erks me about Nigerians especially in forums like this is our inability to leave behind our baboonistic behaviour and enter a conversation without first throwing insults or calling someone a “small boi”

It just shows the village mentality of many nairalanders. Some of you made valid points but what I want you guys to explain to me is when were these names created and by who?

Yoruba
Igbo
Akwukwu Igbo (Delta State)
Obigbo (Rivers State)
Etiti Igbo (Imo State)
Igbo Ukwu (Anambra State)

This is a simple question (no insults necessary), I did not ask you to tell me the meaning , I simply asked you to tell me when and by whom these names were created.
ComputersRe: Which Is The Best Internet Connection In Nigeria? by playmode(m): 11:12pm On Jan 30, 2011
As usual Nigeria never moves forward with the world. We are always 10 years behind. I feel so sad and angered reading all the posts here which depicts that Nigerians have to literally settle for s,h,i,t.

I have visited all the so called fastest Nigerian internet websites and all I can say is : May GOD help Nigerians.

None of the these Nigerian internet service is fast , they are as slow as snails.

In South Africa , you have got variety of internet connections starting from a 345Kps up to 21MB per second connection.

I use two networks,1 wireless 3G network and a full ADSL 10MB per second service.

I am currently using the laptop with the 3G and I am getting an average of 2 to 4Mb per second. My modem is capable of 7MBs

This is the service provider of my 3G service : http://www.vodacom.co.za

The Modem service charges per gigs used while the 10meg line is what we call Uncapped (unlimited) service.

This is the service provider of my 10Meg line : www.mweb.co.za

*I just had a look at the cobranet.org website and I see they are charging N90,000 for a 512k unlimited wireless line .That is absurd.

In South Africa a 512K unlimited line cost only N6000 naira per month.

So the Nigerian line of lower signal quality cost R84,000 more than SA’s high quality ADSL fibre optic line. Way to go Naija ISPs, you suck big time.

So all those Glo adverts I see everyday on CNN about the Glo 1 is horse shit.

Nigeria has the 2nd largest internet subscribers base in Africa so I wonder why the greedy internet companies cannot offer quality service. People like Mike Adenuga and MTN Nigeria directors should be shot. They are just fleecing money off Nigerians.
