PoliticsRe: Two Nigerians Save The Life Of Sa Rugby Player by playmode(op): 9:52pm On Nov 21, 2010
^^^Yes it is quite a story.South Africans have misconceptions about Nigerians and there is a lot stereotyping going against us in SA but this story has brought us some pride in SA.Let us hope that Nigerians in SA continue to fly the flag in a positive way ,maybe, just maybe we will become respected in SA instead of being "hated".
PoliticsTwo Nigerians Save The Life Of Sa Rugby Player by playmode(op): 7:21pm On Nov 21, 2010
Pretoria - When two Nigerians sent a photo of a “dead” Blue Bulls and Bulls rugby player, Deon Helberg, to a Pretoria woman on Wednesday, she replied: “Job well done. See you tomorrow.”Manda Reyneke, 47, of Silver Lakes apparently contracted the two Nigerians several months ago to kill Helberg, 21, who has also played for the Springbok Sevens side.Little did she know that the police force’s Hawks investigation unit, the Nigerians and a very much alive Helberg had carefully doctored the photo to trap her.Reyneke was arrested at the Atterbury Value Mart in Pretoria on Thursday morning shortly after handing R10 000 in cash - allegedly part payment for the hit - to the Nigerians.

Car surrounded

Beeld saw Reyneke stop next to the two Nigerians in the parking lot in her silver Volvo and hand them a packet of R100 notes, when several unmarked vehicles carrying members of the Hawks surrounded her car, sirens blaring, and forced her to get out.

Reyneke did not show any emotion throughout the sting, even when she was handcuffed and put into a police vehicle.Lieutenant-Colonel Leonie Verster, a commanding officer in the Hawks’ tactical operations management section, said one of the Nigerians approached the police with information about the planned hit.“We are extremely grateful to this man and see this as a great success.”Verster said Reyneke made certain admissions following her arrest.Johan Lourens, Helberg’s uncle, said the arrest was a great relief.

“Deon is very relieved, as she [Reyneke] had been threatening for two years that she was going to have him killed.“It was hell for him to wonder every day whether he was going to die that day. We are glad that justice will now be done.”Helberg said the Blue Bulls Rugby Union (BBRU) will shortly issue a statement on his behalf.

Fell in love with him

Beeld heard Reyneke wanted to have Helberg killed because she had fallen in love with him while he was dating her daughter some time ago.He was living with them at one stage. When Helberg broke off the relationship with her daughter, Reyneke allegedly started harassing him with SMSes and later started threatening him with death.

About two months ago she met two Nigerians at a nightclub and allegedly hired them to carry out the hit.“She picked the wrong Nigerians,” said one of them, who wishes to remain anonymous.“She sent us SMSes day and night, informing us of all Helberg’s movements.“She said she would buy us each a house and that, after the murder, she would pay us R10 000 a month for 12 months.”The Nigerians, who did not want to kill anyone, put pressure on Reyneke to give them Helberg’s cellphone number. When she eventually did so, they contacted Helberg and told him Reyneke had hired them to kill him.

No emotion

Even after her arrest, Reyneke still thought Helberg was dead - until she heard during her interrogation at the Hawks’ headquarters in Silverton that he was still alive.Beeld was told she had asked to see Helberg and he was apparently called to the room.Reyneke reportedly showed no emotion when she saw him alive. The two said nothing to each other.Reyneke is expected to appear in the Pretoria Regional Court on a charge of conspiring to commit murder.

Just goes to show that all our so called leaders who parade their FAKE degrees and PHDs are coconut heads.

The word NAIJA represents Nigeria well.Madam you obviously know nothing about rebranding, you are extremely clueless and a disgrace to the office you hold.Even a 17 year boy will give you simple tips on how to boost Nigeria’s image. Go back to school and this time around learn something ,don't bribe lecturers. Maybe then ,you wont be clueless. D.U.M.B.A.S.S

PoliticsRe: 3/4 Of Nigerian Diaspora Lack Insight by playmode(m): 8:02am On Oct 26, 2010
@OP -To some extent I agree with you but common men why will I sell my house that i worked so hard to get just to help the community. We went abroad to better ourselves and make something of our selves ,no one will come home and give it all away.

Your heart is in the right place but the last few sentences of your comment are not going to win you any friends. I think the issue we must address is that of selfishness. Bite me if you don’t like my comment but I know that most Nigerians regardless of where they are based are naturally selfish and self-centred. It is evident in our politics, private and public sectors. It is also evident amongst Nigerians living abroad. Allow me to use SA as an example:

SA is a beautiful country and a great place to do business but Nigerians here are probably the worst you can find in Diasporas because they are so selfish. A rich Nigerian in South Africa will rather hire a fellow Nigerian as a driver or a security guard instead of helping him to get on his feet and set up a business. There is also the drug world, Nigerian drug barons go back to Nigeria and deceive unsuspecting youngsters to come to SA to work for them. When these youngsters get to SA ,the drug barons seizes their passports and force them to sell drugs for them. He gets rich while the youngster gets to go to jail.

I know a Nigerian who went back home to fetch his father’s neighbour’s daughter promising to send her to school in SA but when the girl got here ,he turned her in to maid. The girl now cooks , clean and take care of the guy’s kids. To make matters worse the guy sleeps with the girl whenever his SA wife is not around. So not only is she a maid but an intimacy gadget. Now tell me if that is not damn right evil.

I remember a few years ago when I was browsing through an ovation magazine and I saw this Nigerian billionaire in the east who built a $3million dollar home in the middle of a slum, I mean his next door neighbours had houses made from mud and the road leading to his house was muddy but he had Bentleys packed in the garage. That is the way we are, we are selfish people. As long as it does not affect me I am fine. Our new motto under madam daydreamer (akinluyi) is GOOD PEOPLE ,GREAT NATION. What is great about our nation and what is good about our people? Maybe she should have been more honest and go with "Selfish People ,Crippled Nation" .We have a long way to go and only by working together and forming progressive committees can we help our people and our nation.

Jonathan and PDP still sucks though  cry

PoliticsRe: Goldman’s Mboweni - Nigeria To Be Africa’s New Economic ‘gold Rush’ by playmode(m): 2:13pm On Oct 20, 2010
I happen to have met Mr Mboweni twice since staying in SA. He is a very intelligent and humble man. He and former minister of finance Trevor Manuel helped boost SA’s economy during their years in office. I do believe that the man is making sense with what he has said but it won’t come easy. If Nigeria is to overtake SA economically, the government has to work very hard. SA and Nigeria are not in the same league. You need to have visited SA to know that it is way superior to any African country in many ways. All we need in Nigeria is a good leader, unfortunately we don’t have that yet so I find it difficult to see how Nigeria can overtake SA. Modern day Nigeria is built on a system that is severely plagued with corruption. I mean if you have bullet deserving thieves like Cecilia Ibru living la Vida loca in a hotel/hospital instead of a kirikiri dungeon how can Nigeria ever move forward. There is no discipline in our government talk less of the private sector. cry
PoliticsRe: How Philip Emeagwali Lied His Way To Fame by playmode(m): 3:21pm On Oct 19, 2010
What I find unsettling is that with all the noise being made about this man being a fraud ,he has not come out to defend himself in anyway. Another thing that gives me concern is that he refers to himself as the father of the internet but what he invented has nothing to do with the creation of the internet. Does that not bother any one of you that a man who claims to be the father of the internet did not actually contribute to the creation of the internet. His invention had more to with oil exploration than the internet.

As Nigerians it is time we start being honest with ourselves. This man should come out and address all these allegations. He should stop referring to himself or allowing people to refer to him as the father of the internet. His invention did not contribute to the creation of the internet, infact he used the internet to create his invention.

Nigeria has a bad reputation worldwide and in recent days it has not got better, from the doping cases amongst our sportsmen in the commonwealth games to our representative to fifa asking for GBP500,000 on camera to switch votes. We are not trusted in the world the only way we can show the world that we can be trusted is to support genuine claims made by genuine people. I have no doubt that the professor is a genius but just like a typical Nigerian he has exaggerated his claims and now it has come back to hunt him.

For once let us stop being sentimental and blindly patriotic. Instead let us be completely honest and call a spade a spade. Let us stop the “follow follow” mentality and let each one of us research the claims this man has made and the claims made against him and reach our individual conclusions.

Shoot me if you don't like my comment.
PoliticsRe: Anambra Is The Brain Box Of Nigeria-jonathan by playmode(m): 12:08am On Oct 19, 2010
After reading some of the comments that were posted after my initial post it is not hard for me to see why Nigerians are still slaves to the PDP.My initial comment was not tribalistic or sentimental. My comment addressed the ability of the so called president to think before he talks.

In a nation of 150 million people and over 30 states do you honestly think it is wise to call one state the brain box of Nigeria? Anambra may have produced a lot of great minds ,i will not take that away from the state but it is insensitive for the president to call it the brain box of the nation. He could have tabled his sentence in a different way.Do you know what will happen if obama were to say California was the brain box of the united states? There will be a major uproar, you just can’t make comments like that especially when you are a president. He could have simply said that Anambra has produced some of the best brains in Nigeria. This is a more subtle way to put it without unnecessarily causing jealously in other states.

By saying Anambra is the brain box of Nigeria ,it means Nigeria cannot function without Anambra. That Anambra is the engine that drives Nigeria. That is a very heavy statement that he should not have made at all. A leader like Hugo Chavez of Venezuela will never make a statement like that at least not in that manner. A leader should think about the consequences of his remarks before he speaks. I do not have anything against Anambra or any other state for that matter but I despise cheap politics. Cheap politics that is meant to deceive the unsuspecting populace into voting for a particular candidate. In plain terms it is called a.z.z kissing and that is what Jonathan is doing.
PoliticsRe: Anambra Is The Brain Box Of Nigeria-jonathan by playmode(m): 9:24pm On Oct 16, 2010
I continue to wonder how this guy got his PhD, saying anambra is the box of Nigeria. Does that mean the other states of Nigeria produces dummies. The guy lack skills in addressing people. I pity the folks of Anambra who are buying into this cheap politics. What has this guy done for Anambra since he got into power?

Simple question?

We deserve better ,we don’t need a leader who will make remarks about one state that might cause jealously in another state. It is like going to Jos and saying the Christians are the most intelligent people in Jos. We need a unifying leader. There are other compliments that he could have given Anambra but to say the brain density of Nigeria is concentrated in Anambra is an extremely foolish statement coming from a supposed president of the Federal republic. Did he conduct a research to reach that conclusion or he is just speaking carelessly like he always does.

In a nation as fragile as Nigeria, he should avoid making statement that will indicate that one group is superior or better than another. Some people might take offence to those comments. Jonathan has shown over and over that he is heart is not in the right place. It is all about power for him. He has 0 leadership skills. Instead he prefers crooked politics, PDP politics of deception and trickery. Jonathan , I will advise you to hire some social etiquette teachers because you are seriously lacking in that department. You speak before you think.

I weep for people who see this guy as a messiah. Of course babangida and atiku are worse candidates but nothing should be expected of Jonathan. Only “some” nairaland Igbos will be gullible enough to trust Jonathan. Real intelligent Igbos will see through his game of deception. Jonathan will not handover to anybody if he wins this election, he will want to run for a second term, mark my words. This is PDP politics and we all know what they are capable of.
PoliticsRe: +if Yu Are The President Of Nigeria, What Will You Do First?+ by playmode(m): 11:06pm On Oct 14, 2010
Arrest all active politicians past and present
Torture them until they confess all their crimes against Nigeria.
Seize all the asset of the corrupts ones home and abroad
Execute the corrupt on national Tv via firing sqad.

Arrest corrupt sss, Efcc, Police officers, Military officers and have them executed.

I will dissolve the senate.

I will make the laws of the country harsher. Corruption in Government will be punishable by death.

Abolish Sharia law and execute all islamic fanatics all over the country in special covert operations. I will move the residents of jos both muslim and Christians out of Jos. Muslims will be relocated to another part of kaduna wile the Christians will located at least 30km away from the muslims. The old Jos will become an abandoned city for 5 years. During that five years, old buildings will be demolished and a new ultra modern city with skyscrapers will be built on top of the Old jos. After 5 years the city will be re opened to property investors , businesses and the likes.

I will practice what will be known as the Progressive system of Government. The progressive system of government will borrow ideas from federalism , socialism ,capitalism e.t.c and form a near perfect equilibrium that will set Nigeria on the path to achieving greatness. I will change our motto from "peace and Unity" to "Discipline and prosperity"

I will abolish the drilling of oil in the mainland regions of the Niger Delta. All oil exploration will be done offshore so as to save the environment.I will set up an environmental conservation organisation that will be headed by trained environmentalist from the USA and Australia that will help restore the Niger delta region to it’s former glory.

I will initiate a mini census to count the number of villages and people that live the Niger delta area. This is to better understand the area and to know how many schools ,hospitals ,roads e.t.c are need in the area. In some parts of the Niger delta modernization projects will commence. The Niger delta has the potential to be the Miami of Nigeria. There are ample opportunities for tourist businesses like hotels ,scuba diving ,wild life tours to spring up in the Niger delta area. Companies investing in the Niger delta will be mandated to hire & Train 80% Niger delta staff as members of their organizations. They will also be encouraged to offer scholarships to promising youngsters in the region.

I will diversify Nigeria’s economy by investing heavily in agriculture .I will also invite mining companies to come and mine our untapped resources. This will create jobs for Nigerians.

I will fully commercialize the telecoms and power industry. Due to the years of neglect, my Government will not be able to solve the power problem by itself, hence the need to involve the private sector. My goal will be ensure constant electricity for Nigerians at an affordable rate. All form of power generation will be allowed under my government to create room for healthy competition. All power companies will be mandated to deliver power to Nigerians via prepaid meters. This will ensure easy power top ups and save power companies the need to send out paper bills which comes from threes thereby contributing to a greener planet.

I will allow all forms of telecommunications networks to operate In Nigerian and i will strive to ensure that Nigeria has one of the fastest broadband internets up to ( 100mbps or more) on the planet as well as the cheapest phone call rates. This telecommunications companies will be allowed to build their own fibre optic infrastructure without the need of nitel’s own.

Once electricity and telecommunications are stable, I will set up a special business bureau that will facilitate easy acquisition of foreign manufacturing licenses by young ambitious Nigerian businessmen. For example, the bureau will be help a young of 32 years old Nigerian acquire the license to locally manufacture blackberry phones for local distribution and exportation to neighbouring African countries.

To lay off the pressure from Lagos and Abuja , new cities will be built in the east, west , north and south of Nigeria.

I will hire non political professionals to run each state as an enterprise. Instead of state Governments we will have State Management Companies.
Instead of State Governors, we will have State Managers which will be hired by the federal Government. State senates will be abolished. State management regulatory boards will replace it.

I will dissolve all ministries and create Federal departments to replace them. Hire non political professionals from the public sector to run these Departments.
These professionals will be hired by the Federal Government via an independent qualification assessment body.

All titles of honourable, Excellency e.t.c will be removed from state Government. The president will be referred to as "The president of the progressive republic of Nigeria Mr , Only the president may be referred to as your Excellency. The office of the first lady will be scrapped. The first lady will be referred to as simply Mrs …, wife of the president. My wife will not be involved in any political affairs, she will remain hidden from the public eye and continue to practice her everyday profession.

Under My Government Aso Rock will no longer be the seat of Government.
I will build a new city in the Niger Delta area and the seat of government will be based there. My official residence and office will be not be hidden like the way Aso rock is .It will be easily accessible to the media. Pictures of what the Government house looks like will be readily available on the internet. Ordinary citizens will be able to drive past the government house as it will be located on a major secured road .In the near future limited tours will be operated in the Government house just like it is done in the united states.

Furthermore I will not read speeches; I will always speak from the heart to the people.

They will not let him near an exit, or leave him without guards watching him not to talk of a cell phone.
Trust me tewmuch ,i know what i am saying.I just don't want to divulge too many details but trust me on one thing, detainees use cellphones in SA prisons. The guards in SA prisons are extremely corrupt. If you have any friend in SA or relative just call him to confirm. I am telling you what my friend saw with his own eyes. Let me tell you how SA prison works. There is a prison based Gang called the "the 26".They work with the prison guards, they are very deadly and they control everything that goes on in SA prisons. When you get arrested and get detained ,they will come to you and ask if you need anything especially if they know you are loaded. They sell drugs in the prison, they hire out cellphones ,they even organize you prostitues on Sunday nights. They are well connected in the prison community.

My guess is that Okah knows some of their leaders and immediately he was arrested he got in touch with them so that they can make his time in prison comfortable. I am telling you for a fact that in SA prisons ,there are gang leaders who have full HDTVs ,cellphones ,fax machines ,laptops with wireless internet in their cells. There are mafia bosses in prison who still run their mafia business from inside the prison. You have to see it to believe it. Trust me Okah is not feared in SA ,he is not considered a dangerous man here because he dines with local politicians and he is HEAVILY connected. He is not a threat to SA so they don't care about him. Him using a cellphone is nothing in SA.

Anyone in SA will confirm what i am saying as being true.

Faeb have you ever been to any prison before? How can you be sure that his cellphone is not with him. I live in SA and i am telling you that big shots in prison are allowed to make phone calls from their cellphones . I once had a friend who was arrested for assault and he kept calling me with his cellphone for 8 days to raise money for his bail. There are prison officials who will turn a blind eye and allow you to use a cellphone in prison as long as you "SETTLE" them. Okah is a big shot here in SA. He is well known and well connected. I am sure he is with his cellphone and probably a flat screen TV in his cell. This kind of thing happens even in western countries like the USA. In prisons there gangsters who have pimped out cells with waterbeds ,LCD tv ,xbox console e,t,c and they even get laid whenever they want. Okah using a cellphone from prison is no big deal in SA. It is a normal thing ,it may not legally allowed but it happens. He did not commit any crime in SA so they won't be strict with him. Besides the guy is a multimillionaire here so he can pay his way around the prison.

What a d.u.m.b individual this Jonathief is. He thinks SA is a lawless country like the banana republic he is lucky to be in charge of. This baboon is talking about reviewing diplomatic relations with SA when our embassy is barely functioning. What is there to review when the embassy staff are more or less a waste of space. GEJ should be ashamed of himself , to think that our security forces did not know of the intended attack until they received intelligence from the U.K. The crook and his wife were busy laundering money through their Brazilian rice scheme. SA government will not give a fuxk about you retards until you put your home in order. Nigerian politicians bring disgrace to Africa and Africans and they want nothing to do with that, silly mobos!

If SA can disgrace Obasanjo at the airport and other Nigerian politicians ,who the fuxk is Jonathan to issue orders to them. This is South Africa d.u.m.b.a.z.z and they got their house in order not like yours that is in shambles .You are comparing yourself to a country that contributes a whopping 25% of Africa’s entire GDP through a well managed and diversified economy. A country that comfortably houses over 5 million African immigrants from neighbouring countries and still remains Africa’s shining gem not to mention being in the top 10 tourist destinations in the world. Jonathief you are a fuxking he goat and a disgrace to homo sapiens because you have the brain of a shrimp!

A so called Nigerian president in these dire times who cannot address the nation face to face but chooses to issue statements through his special adviser on media is the biggest coward of all. Anyone who is vouching for this slowpoke to be president will surely rip what they sow.

$100 million to plant a fuxking car bomb that you can spend less than $200 to build just by watching video tutorials online. This foolish Jonathief and his cronies must really think Nigerians are dummies to think we will believe this cock and bull story. So politicians are that generous that they will cough out a whole $100 million just to plant bombs huh If they had that kind of money to dash out ,why couldn’t they have just ordered the assassination of the president himself. That would have made more sense for $100 million. Jonathief you say you were a lecturer before but you keep behaving like someone who never finished primary school. Please tell your “lie makers” to refine their story because you are just embarrassing your self further with this ridiculous story.

You don't seem to understand why pple are angry with your initial post. Do you think bombing has EVER solve any political problem? Tell me any where in the world where bombing innocent pple or EVEN politicians has brought peace.
I do understand why people are angry and i have softened my tone on the matter after some reflections. As you can see i have avoided commenting on the thread for a while but i just hate people who jump in to the thread to rain insults instead of making their stance clear and telling me why they think i am wrong in a civilized manner.

To playmode or whatever his name is---- You're a fool and also a child. You sit in South Africa and make all those mouth of yours. what are you doing in S.A If you know you want to be part of Naija Development why not come to Naija. Stop being foolish. You are calling what happened today a kind of revolution,  please that is pure terrorism. I am sure innocent lives where lost what do you make out of that,  fool. You have never seen a war before all you do is sit in front of a computer and say those silly words of yours and call people monkey while you are the monkey.

If you know say you be strong person come nigeria and try and develop your country. i want to believe you are not a Nigerian fool. You dey S.A dey form oyibo, you don lost o!!!!

People like you, if them give you leadership role like the President wetin you go fit do? silly!!!! your mind is rotten,  you are in S.A and blabbing your mouth. I am so so sorry for you and your children
Hoi, Benedict Uwagwu ,I don’t know idiots like you still exist, if you don’t agree with my stance why don’t you argue like someone who has got a brain instead of raining insults. So my being in SA dey pepper you, na me say make dem no give you visa. Mumu what has SA got to do with this thread. Don’t assume you know a person on a forum, you may think I have never seen war before or engaged in a violent act but how can you be 100% sure of this. Stop behaving like a typical agbero. Do you feel inferior to white people because I don’t understand why you will say I dey form oyibo. So South Africa na oyibo country now? O boy ,u don miss road for life. I suggest you get a real job and stop trying to scam nairalanders with your home business scams. Everybody knows home businesses are scams. No food for lazy man,go back to school or enrol in a technical college to develop some much needed skills and maybe then you will get a real job instead of running pyramid scams online. This thread is about the bomb blast ,what it means and the unfortunate lives that were lost not a place for you to vent your anger against SA for not allowing a criminal like you into their country. If you can not counter my stance in an intelligent manner, i will advise you to quit the thread cuz I will tear you to pieces here.

@playmode
pls am not attacking u or any1 in support of wat MEND is doing n has done today but can u HONESTLY answer this question:
"wud u still support their actions today if 1 of the victims was your relation or someone very close to u?"
My point is. . . . no matter their objectives n course, they are going about it the wrong way.
call it wat u like this is purely an act of terrorism.
Good day.
If that were the case, obviously I will be angry and hate MEND till the end of time. However I reiterated several times and in my last post that I do not condone the loss of innocent lives. That being said I want a situation whereby corrupt politicians in government will resign out of the fear of being attacked. The methods which MEND or other similar organizations will undertake to achieve this needs to be carefully thought out to ensure that not a single civilian is killed or injured.

Couldnt have said it better myself.
Most politicians in Naija today = SCUM.
MEND = SCUM

More pics pls
First line i agree with , the second about MEND is not 100% true. There are members of the groups who might be corrupt and dangerous to society but one cannot forget why they started the movement in the first place. Forget about their past for a second and let us talk about today. The reality is that they do not a good missions coordinator. Most of these guys have limited combat strategy training. The cars they bombed seems to have been placed in a busy area. Some surveillance of the area should have been done to ensure that it is not a busy route.

It seems this attack was planned at the last minute. Trust me if mend wanted to kill a lot of people , they could have placed the bomb inside eagle square. Knowing how lax Nigerian security is, it would not have been too difficult. The bomb was meant to be a message and not to kill anyone. Unfortunately it didn’t work out as they planned. Innocent lives have been lost and they will be tainted by that.
