Siga: .... Just got off the phone with Keyano College again.... I decided to call the Presidents Office.... spoke to someone there.... she advised I speak with the Registrar (Massa) again...then Massa will forward the request to them for approval.... well... Massa says no... that students need to walk into their school to pay tuition (exactly her word).... I was shocked and sad... seems these guys are not gonna bend.... and guess wat her last option is.... telling me to advise the students to apply to another school in Ontario and transfer once they get to Canada... I told her, these are students that are already on the final phase of their visas and this tuition payment is holding their visas... and they will have to reapply again if they cant pay.... well... she said SORRY.... I dont think I will advise anyone to apply to this school again... the headache is too much....

As its late here in 9ja I shld be sleeping but this ish won't let. I was thinking if we the students maybe 3-5 of us could get a conference call thru to the school letting em know how this is a very big issue which might delay or affect the trv. I guess they wouldn't wna lose such number of students but with this kinda reply she said to you its like they don't even really care that much.

I know she has no power to change any policy but the Governing body... but at least there are ways around things like this to help students.... told her they will be loosing alot of students with this policy ....

Sir Siga, you didn't reply my post and after that I checked again her(Melissa) mail there was an attachement on it a paragraph saying 'You must arrive in Canada and obtain a valid study permit before you can make any tuition' now that got me confused after reading from her the estimate of 1st year plus housing as I requested that I wna make payment of it all on expectancy of trv.
I should contact again to confirm.

To all prospective Keyano College students...I just had a phone call with one of the Admissions Officer (Melissa)...she advised they are not changing their policy as per paying before visa ....so, I challenged her that are they willing to loose students for this policy.....which she says Yes, there is nothing they can do... that students can look for another school to secure visas and transfer over to them.... she even said there are students from Nigeria that got their visas without paying...so... I dont know wat to advise now as CDHC has been giveing few guys wahala to pay now ooo.... I guess they realised alot of students are heading to that school and they want to stand by their visa policy for una to pay ooo....Melissa even told me they dont have a large International student presence in school thats why they dont have an International office and never knew how to deal with issues CDHC is asking oooo

That must be Merrigan same officer I spoke to and she gave me options for payment. I posted some advice earlier so peeps of schools with such policy can try it and there's a guy that embassy threatened that they will close his app if he doesn't find a way to make tuition even after the school mailed em of their policy, I guess the guy has been able to figure out what to do but he hasn't been back since his last post, I'm sure aint d only one waiting to read from him as his solution will help others.

Have you ever read anywhere on em website that "tuition and fees made before request from the embassy is at your own risk" ??

Onye oma: Ok sir...noted as well...felt I was helping someone...I won't talk about it again...my point has been made known...its left for whoever to wishes to act accordingly or otherwise.

I believe that paying one's tuition fees when applying/going for medicals is never against CDHC rules and regulations and can never lead to disqualification unless the person doesn't meet up in other areas...

frederal: But cases where schools say there policy is pay after TRV, what does one do about it since its a problem with CDHC? I'm in same situation now.

My school has that same policy as I already knew so I just made a way to convince em that I wna make tuition and I was given options for payment.

My advice is, have a very close contact with your school and tell em you wna make tuition as your TRV app is approaching completion stage. Do this even before medical call frm embassy so if it finally comes with request for tuition, you just go ahead to make it as you've aidy concluded with ur school

Sir OyeaOma, pls I guess the best advice you could give is we should act according to embassy instructions without wasting no time, telling peeps to make tuition out of embassy instruction is kinda weird. If they only asked for medical then why jump to make tuition.

IMO; YOU WON'T BE DENIALED FOR DOING ONLY WHAT THEY REQUESTED AND YOU'RE NOT SAFE DOING WHAT AINT REQUESTED.

Make enquires directly to cdch, aint no perfect adviser on anywhere!

sampitts: Hi guys! Sorry It's been a while. Things got so so complicated for me, I got a little frustrated but I'm good now. CDHC wanted me to bring a new acceptance letter and funding letter for september start instead of the one i submited initially for may. I tried all I could to make sure the school send it, I was asked to apply for readmission by the school which I did. Then the delay started untill today that i recieved a news, i don't know if it's good or bad though. The news says that they could not secure funding for me for september but I'm guaranteed January and if i acccept January, they'll send the letters this week. CDHC called me 3 times requesting for the letters for september, But the school has moved it to January. I guess i'll have to accept it and explain to CDHC

Sir sampitts, pls when cdhc requested for new start date, was it after or before the old one? Like; what was the old start date, when and at what stage(during or after medical) was the request for a new date

For the late april or early may applicants yall just have to chill I don't think there's something like an application jumped queue, we all know its not a machine process, everything is been handled by human which means some are fast while some are slow so maybe you add to your prayers the kinda VO you want. Best of luck to all of us!

For new applicants, I actually tot of this and I think it should help, when you're using a sponsor that's not of your last name pls ensure you have a way of proving to d VO that it aint hired. Maybe u submit receipts of past assistance from him/her, you know the VO will definately go thru d acct so ensure that your own name appeared on the previous transactions maybe twice or more to show he/she had actually been helping you financially before now. Its just a trick hope yall cld digest

As u've written ursef it takes time so the earlier d better, in as much as you have all necessary documents which must be genuine. Check their web site for right informations and ask questions more on here

earthgreeners: Bros u dnt need to change ur letter.. This is what is stated on the checklist

Original and a photocopy of the Letter of acceptancefrom your educational institution in Canada stating:

unconditional admission, or if conditional, you must show you can meet the conditions
course title and level of study,
duration of study, AND
start date (multiple start dates, if applicable) and latest possible date of admission.

Therefore your mailing address doesnt matter

I really want to be sure if its pretty safe to go and change my acceptance letter after 5wks of submission and hope it won't affect my processing time?? Those are my worries

pls explain better cox I actually read on CIC site that an acceptance letter must contain the student's address. but the address on mine is a forign address of d fella that secured d admission for me
