everyday: That thing dey pour on or suya is actually a mixture of maggi and suya.It can actually turn or bellethen why is it red? |
Do the two sims support 3g? or it s only one? |
kceemart: Intercourse wit an infected person does not lead 2 d infection al d time, because if d carrier is a wman,a man can have unprotected sex wit her witout contacting d virus bt it must b done wit care.I wil not go in2 dt here.Bt shud d carrier b a man, its takes a miracle 2 save d wman dt has unprotected sex wit him. In d case of d abv incident wut dey wil do is test d victim if she test pos means dt she contacted d virus b4 bt if she is neg,she wil be placed on pep ie post exposure prophylasis within 72hrs 2 prevent d virus 4rm binding 2 d cel. This is because it takes approx 72hrs 4 d virus 2 bind.@bolded Statistics put v.aginal receptive (i.e man to woman) transmission at about 0.3% per act. There's really nothing miraculous about it. You guys should understand that despite the fact that over 80% of HIV infections are attributed to sexual intercourse, the latter is, in itself not a very efficient means of transmission. If it were, the AIDS epidermic would be far, far worse than it currently is. However, let me quickly add that statistics aside, it is very possible to get infected from a single act of receptive/insertive intercourse. Behave responsibly. |
WOW!! |
For all those canvassing post exposure prophylaxis, note that this can only be done after the status of the lady is ascertained (which, curiously, the article is silent on). There is a possibility she could be positive; we are all assuming she's not. |
pro01: Is there a possibility that the victim would not contract HIV? To those that are knowledgeable about the subject: Does intercourse with an infected person necessarily lead to infection, 100% of the time? If no, what are the odds that one might avoid the virus in spite of unprotected intercourse with a carrier?Thankfully, it doesn't. . .and here's a shocking statistic: Its actually less than 1%!!. However, a lot of factors could affect that number, and include presence of infections (other STIs), sores on private area, viral load of the individual, and whether he/she is on ARVs, number of encounters, risk status, etc, etc. The man is said to be a doctor and is currently on ARVs. That's a good sign. There is therefore the possibility that the viral level in his body will be low and this reduces the chances of him passing on the virus to the unfortunate victim. And like someone said, male to female transmission is slightly lower than the other way round. I would say the odds are pretty low from this single encounter. |
Okija_juju: Dont go far..Hmmmm. ![]() |
chiboy1928: Akpos called his girlfriend, Joy, onSUUUUPPERBBB!!!! ![]() |
Was the arrest done by the Hisbah Board or by the State Police? If the former, then its really nothing new. It was in fact worse during the tenure of Shekarau, Rabiu's predecessor. But if its by the State police, as the article seems to imply, then one has to really wonder what a secular force is doing enforcing morality. The height of misplaced priorities, IMO. |
nagoma: The fist drug seem to be used topically. Did I get it right? How can it be effective in systemic viraemic infection which HIV is?Good question. Its perhaps hoped that given its proven invitro activities, a systemic preparation could be made. Another possibility is to utilize it topically to prevent transmission during sex. |
igbsam: How does this work ? I still don't get it.........Will Metronidazole fit into the same use as Ciclopirox ? We need this badly oPlease, It WILL NOT!!! |
Billyonaire: Common sense will tell you that any antibiotic is anti-fungal and anti-viral. Now, apologize for misleading this great forum with half-baked knowledge.A better way to put it: Anti-fungals and antivirals are types of antibiotics. |
Mr Troll: both these quotes are found in the article...Metronidazole is not an antifungal drug. Its more of antiprotozoan/antibacterial. Furthermore, I can't really think of any viral infection metronidazole treats. |
dominique: An anti-fungal drug to treat a viral infection? how come nobody thought about thatOf course the mitochondria being referred to is that of the host cell, not the virus. Like all obligate parasites, the HIV needs a living cell (esp the CD4) to exist and reproduce, and so once that host is destroyed - or rather destroys itself via apoptosis, the virus dies off. |
Stay away from supplements. Apart from not having any proven benefit, they are a waste of money (being qiute expensive as most would know), and can actually be harmful, especially the very high protein and/or steroid containing supplements. |
I've been silently following Oduahgate since details of the sleaze broke out and have been shocked, nay flabbergasted and deeply saddened at the tribal dimension the whole fiasco has taken. It is pretty telling indictment of that tribe if their much trumpeted 'best performing minister ever' (how such a distinction was arrived at beats me - O I FORGOT, she built an international airport from the scratch. . . with her personal money, apparently) is one to be embroiled in such despicable display of corruption. That the lid was blown open by a fellow Igboman just happened to be an inconvenient detail, one that has been largely overlooked. A question for OP and his ilk: it too difficult to ask that she face the music, be it sack or prosecution, but her replacement must come from the SE?? Would that not portray you people who one that value integrity above blind, misguided, destructive and primordial ethnic considerations? Pathetic, to say the least. ![]() |
INNO18: The contractor handling that road is more sluggish than a Mollusc. The only part of that road that looks 'Average' is the KM1 to Upper Iweka flyover which i think was done by Obi(later reimbursed) but starting from Upper Iweka down to Umunya what we have is a shabby, poorly constructed, unmarked road. It's an eyesore once you get to Awkuzu Junction. I doubt if they'll meet up with the 2014 commissioning date.I believe OP is referring to the entire stretch from Enugu down to Onitsha. To be sincere, given its strategic importance, that road is an embarrassment to Nigeria. It is an eyesore. Even the parts that were recently renovated have started going bad again. |
adanny01: This same thing happened to me in a total filling station in Kaduna just last week. stagger: A yamhead had tried it with me at Total filling station just before Water lines in PH. He did not zero the pump before he started pumping into my car thinking I did not know. Unfortunately for him, my tank was virtually empty and I refused to move the car from there, pulled out my phone and started dialing my friends in the military base. I told the guy he was going to be seriously worked on in the barracks. I made so much noise their manager came out and when I told him what happened and told him he will be there to see soldiers drilling his staff physically in the station before they bundle him off to the guardroom, he started begging me.It really amazes me to see an established multinational like Total being involved in something like this. |
chiozor: Elena so sorry to hear this,I know how u feel now,but I strongly suggest to u to be brave and try alternative herbal theraphies, they could purifiy ur blood system and kill the virus.just make inquires, our local people have really done good studies on local herbs that could offer remedy to HIVSome of these unproven herbs could actually interfere with the action of the ARV you are on. A healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, registered food supplements if necessary and of course a positive outlook is all you need. |
Emmadani: Very true. And nawadays its all these beautiful girls that are now fuel station attendants, they think they can deceive pple with their beauty.Thats how i went to buy fuel for a crucial ucl match like that, the sales girl was doing one kind of stop-start technique without allowing the metre read properly..,i told the girl "see, look myface well,i resemble your boyfriend?I go slap you here if u no allow that metre read".The girl started all over again, completed ma 1k fuel plus the one she pumped in earlier causing an overfill.Yes,she filled ma cup.ROFLMAO!!!! ![]() These days most of the gas stations' attendants are indeed females - young, attractive ones. Its very common to see them in thier cleavage exposing, thighs/a$s hugging attires especially in independent marketer-owned stations. They will come smiling seductively asking "how much", hoping their bulging derriere will distract you from seeing the metre hasn't been reset, and then when through filing the tank will purr, "do u need the change?" Useless things. |
manie: I don't do mutual funds, but my returns by investing over the years on the stock market has consistently given me a better returns than the mutual funds highlighted by you.Which one be that? |
WOW!! this is really an eye-opener for me. I almost was getting carried away by the sweet words the Stanbic mutual funds were ofering. TBills or fixed deposits still remains the best bet for now. |
collinsobinna: @ Timothy,@ Chiqudy and kufreabasio: the clear difference between treasury bills and FD is the interest is paid to u immediately(upfront) and without withdrawing withholding tax while FIxed deposits require you to wait till when it matures before u can get ur interest. Also your interest is subject to withholding tax. Thanks for this piece. But please enlighten us on the other instruments (bolded) |
eyenCalabar: You don't understand bro. There's a way work is being done in NGOs. That one year experience u'll get with them can never be wasted. There are so many big NGOs in Nigeria which you can use that experience and apply any time vacancy opens. It's a real good start brother. Those guys would pay nothing less than 100k NGN and the work you'll do won't even be much. I've been around NGO and I know what am talking about. You'll sleep in hotels and get tired. Have you ever heard something like per diem? Go find out! Working with NGO is so cool brother. I won't talk much pls. But I'll give you a little advice here: always have an open mind about something. Every opportunity in life is an opportunity for another opportunity. Don't waste any opportunity you have in life to show/display some talent in you. You may start small but just keep doing your best in that small thing and before you know somebody may show up to take you higher due to how you display your skills.Very, Very true. I currently work with an NGO and I can say for a fact that experience is the major criteria during recruitment. I doubt however the pay will be up to 100k. Our organisation pays volunteers about 70k, but if after the one year contract the performance of the candidate is deemed impressive and he/she is given full employment status , the salary, depending on the position, will more than triple. |
Laalamed: Nothing wrong about home-based diagnosis and treatment. Providers of such services must be either licenced doctors, pharmacists and nurses. They must have office address that can be verified. They must register with cac to do such things. The fact that they prescribe drugs and then sell same makes the situation very messy. Clinicians are not licensed to sell drugs and pharmacists are not licensed to prescribe. That fact that those people are doing both shows they are fake. |
Absolutely fake. I wonder how people fall such glaring cases of deceit. The only time I can remember doing anything similar was during my comm health posting and NYSC. The important distinction here is that every service we rendered was absolutely free of charge. |

An HIV cell does not have mitochondria except they're talking about the mitochondria of the host cell. Bogus research imo.
