Choi! NA wa O! this one wey I don turn Sanusi defender. I hope I'm ok |
naijaking1: You didn't go far enough, because you remain one of the unalloyed or would I say blind supporter of Sanusi right from 4 years ago when he was coming on-board. "Hurting a little bit" is not the phrase we need when our own CBN governor says that our stock exchange is worse than a gambling house, how nice and how encouraging for people in a developing country to get this sort of miseducation from their own chief economist. Moi?? A Sanusi supporter?? Far from it. I've had issues with some of his rather brash pronouncements, his ethically questionable donations and his proclivity to engage in needless ethno-religious controversies. Yes, he has his faults - just like you and I. However, to claim that Sanusi was nothing but bad luck to Nigeria while expecting us to massturbate on the phantom titillating escapades of Soludo is desperately disingenuous. First they are easily bought and sold.Preposterous. That SLS could bribe international bodies like IMF, Financial Times, Emerging Markets, etc into recognising his achievements is hideously laughable. Nice try though. ![]() 2. Many of them are dedicated to the CBN as an institution, not to the governor personally, as evidenced by the fact that he recieved some of them when he was less than 2 months in office. Then one would have expected his predecessor to have equally bagged those awards, after all it's still largely the same staff. Its about leadership, friend. 3. The awards were dedicated to the men and women of the bank who work behind the scene, not just to a flamboyant, egomaniac, and attention seeking personalty like Sanusi. To his credit, he alluded that much while receiving the awards 4. What are awards given by people who don't know you when people who know you are surfferring from your inefficiency? What exactly do you expect of him? create jobs? provide infrastructure? I'm not sure you're aware of the limitations of his powers. Here is what the magazine had to say about the limitations he faces: Charles Robertson, Renaissance Capital’s global chief economist, points out that the central bank had very few tools at its disposal to push down inflation, because food – the supply of which the monetary authority cannot control – represents roughly half of all consumer spending in Nigeria, oil – whose price is volatile – is the country’s main export, and credit to gross domestic product is still low, which means interest rates are not so effective as monetary policy instruments. |
mad nigerian: Simples.Beautiful analysis. I'm amazed how businesses manage to function with zero access to credit and very poor infrastructure. |
mfm04622: Haha!!!! How can his economics be half baked and he will win all those awards that CANNOT be bought? Haha!!!! If you say he talks too much for a Central Bank Governor, I will agreeI agree 100%. The man had the discomfiting predisposition of opening his mouth far more often than is expected of someone his position, and such utterances, in most cases, turn out to be unrelated to his core functions of regulating the country's economy. Some would however argue that he still remains a Nigerian, and is therefore entitled to his opinion just like any other citizen. Well, that is true; but I believe, for someone holding such a sensitive position, it wouldn't hurt to be a little bit more circumspect in expressing his views. As for the pathetic attempts to undermine his work, I would gladly take the recommendations of The financial Times, TIME magazine, and the African Bankers award (which he has won thrice) over that of any badbelle desperately trying to belittle his achievements, most probably because that of his predecessor didn't measure up. |

mikeansy: Sanusi did not clean up any messAre you kidding me about 400billion toxic loans that was about to crash our economy under the Soludo era is not your idea of rain?? #badBELLEthings# |
Ola one: Most people don't even know what Frankfurt's stock exchange is called. London bridges the gap between America and Asia. It overlaps the two continents (America and Asia). The city starts trading before they close in Asian countries and it still always there when they open for trading in America. Ola one: Most people don't even know what Frankfurt's stock exchange is called. London bridges the gap between America and Asia. It overlaps the two continents (America and Asia). The city starts trading before they close in Asian countries and it still always there when they open for trading in America.I think we are placing too much importance on the so called "financial capital" simply because it's more of perception than any real measurable index. Moreover there are a number of bodies that give different ratings based on the surveys - yes, its just surveys - they carry out. Its not only about the number of financial institutions the capital has. For instance Z/yen which complies the GFCI places London on top, while the IFCDI compiled by Xinhua-Dow Jones gives the title to New York. However, I do agree Frankfurt is nowhere near the top; it's not even in the top 10! The battle has always been between New York and London. @topic, Elumelu would be a bad choice. We don't need a motivational speaker for the post. |

jp philips: Don't write a resignation letter if you are not looking forward to getting benefits, in some organizations, AWOL pays better than resignation.Do not try that on the NGO world. Nine times out of ten, your prospective employer knows your previous one, and would in most cases contact them. |
ogologodimkpa: You've said it all.Someone tell me this is not true!! |
later people go blame ASUU |
This is unacceptable. I'm surprised many NL are actually endorsing her action. Speaks volume of the kind of home they proceed from. Not that I'm surprised with the contents - those who read Moji's account (OBJ's estranged wife) will understand. I have no doubt that what she wrote is true, but should we be assailed with OBJ's many sins from her, his very daughter who proceeded from his loins? Using words like "stupidity"?? Haba! Sure, one can always disagree with one's parent, especially when one comes of age. But I strongly believe dirty linen of this sort - the familial type - shouldn't be exposed in this manner. No. What Iyabo has done is an abomination. It is immoral. It is ungodly. |
What exactly is 'bombshell?' |

yellowpawpaw: Here, a man drags a caustic woman out and beats her, ladies r screaming. We just can't win can we? ![]() |
ileobatojo: Oh, I know that. I'm just wondering if you know what it means. In other words, how do you differentiate verbal abuse from a non abusive heated argument between spouses? If the intention is to subdue, cause physical or psychological damage to another person, then it ceases to be just a case of differing opinions. It becomes abuse. How did you make the distinction in this case based on the information provided? When the man threatened to deal with her if she didn't keep quiet, why did dare him? She questioned his masculinity right in front of his children. Is there a possibility that the whole ugly incident would have been avoided if she had stopped talking at that point? Well, there are a lot of things we don't we don't know about the story; we are guilty of jumping into conclusions. Anyway, like I said earlier, I'm not about to start justifying what the man did to the lady, especially in front of the children. It was wrong. |
soul_glo: What will "gel" is treating someone with dignity and respect. So because he did not assault his wife he should get a medal? It is a sad day the day we start saying at least he did not beat her. At least he did not rape her. No wonder there are men who can blatantly beat their wives and say at least I am not sleeping around. Talk about setting the bar. There is no freaking barit goes both ways. The lady should control her mouth and the man should control his muscles. |

you buy fridge, comot the door put curtain see your wowo face like shiit wey them march You omo you say na blue garri |
OP your noise is unnecessary. If our dear GEJ should just do the needful and tackle corruption, most of the issues won't arise. |
now its getting clearer. The emasculation of EFCC is deliberate, albeit indirect, after all. |
soul_glo: So the woman lacked control because she was being argumentative and the man does not? He is St. Husband. Whatever. They both lacked self control and both should be reprimanded. |
ileobatojo: What is verbal abuse?Yes, there such a thing as verbal abuse/violence: The damage is internal, there are no physical bruises or scars, just a wounded spirit and sense of self-esteem. Defining outcomes [of violence] solely in terms of injury or death thus limits the understanding of the full impact of violencehttp://whqlibdoc.who.int/publications/2002/9241545615_eng.pdf The wife, aware she wouldn't be able to match him physically gave free rein to her tongue with the intention of subduing him psychologically - this is abuse. The man, obviously aware he was approaching his limits had warned her to keep quiet or face repercussions, but her response "you no fit" left him in no doubt as to how lowly she regarded him and his threats. The man then decided to prove that "he fit". But of course I agree physical violence against women is not certainly not on the same level of gravity as verbal abuse. However they are both wrong and should be condemned. my problem here was that over 90% of the female respondents see absolutely nothing wrong with the actions of the lady, and I find that worrisome. The impression is that it is essentially okay for the lady to run her mouth when provoked but never okay for the man to respond. It shouldn't be so. |
"the man should - must! - always control himself no matter the provocation. Even if the woman abuses him, vilifies his entire linage, insults the living daylight out of him, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE MUST HE RETALIATE. Its only a barbaric caveman that would lift a finger on a lady. The woman, with fleeting control of her tongue is an angel, apparently. So, what should the man do when provoked? "He should walk away, he should understand that the way women naturally are" I see. then the following day she happens to provoke him again? "He should still walk away." For how long should he continue to walk away?? My point is this: the man has blood and not engine oil running though his veins, and there comes a tipping point where he snaps. I'm not by any means condoning physical violence, but neither should the ladies accept verbal violence - yes, it is violence - as "part of the genetic makeup of a women". It is irritating. The animalistic, barbaric excuse of a man for deploying his muscles on the lady, and the fish-brained, caustic-tongued woman were BOTH WRONG AND SHOULD BOTH SEEK HELP. |
